Thank GOD Aaron said something because erase me didn’t suck but it was a HUGE letdown after a decade reveal. This album is fire. The tones are dope. Thanks for coming together again to make this one.
That's not what they've been saying though? They're still proud of the record, they just realized while making Voyeurist that they were better off without any producers or anyone interfering with their creative process.
@@Mariooo57 listen to more interviews. They clearly state , “erase me didn’t work”. It was a Frankenstein of sleepwave and Aaron Gillespie solo stuff with a light coating of the usual abstract Tim weirdness. The new record features nothing like Ihateit, rapture, and wake me. Try to think why that might be for a second. Been following this band 11 years. I know what theyre about and erase me wasn’t it.
Man…maybe Erase Me is more linear, and Voyeurist is more unpredictable. But man, I love all the albums, and Erase Me is my favorite just because the keyboard finally became more evident (I’m a keyboard player, so the bias). Not only this, there are really aggressive songs with sentimental and screams that I enjoy listening while running or driving.
Erase Me was adequate at best. Lyrically it was too heavy-handed and at times even cringe-inducing. The instrumentals were derivative, and the song structures were uninspired. I'm so glad Tim is actually commenting publicly on the mediocrity of that album. Voyeurist feels like a return to form. It's leagues better than Erase Me.
I fucking knew it there was something like that going on! chapeau to you guys and to Aaron for having that conversation! Communication IS THE BEST way to overcome things like these, to grow in relationships. Talk about it! it was very obvious something was going on in the last album and hey you guys wanted to try something different and that's good nothing wrong with that. Keep it up!
It's funny though, because you'll notice bands saying a lot of these same things over and over. "We finally got along on this album." Then the next album, it's "Last time was pretty rough, but this time we finally got along." Not trying to call them out, we all do things like this.
@@johnnydi2203 Of course! it's a creative process and in hindsight you will notice things you had not noticed before, the perspective is different! How I see it a band is basically a family and when the dynamic is wonky you'll notice the wonkiness :P
I genuinely don’t get the dislike for Erase Me. I think it’s front to back and incredible album, every song is catchy as hell and I know it was a deeply personal one for Spencer. I do wish the entire band had been more involved in the making of Erase Me, but I still think it’s a great album they should ultimately be proud of.
It doesn’t feel like an Underoath album. It feels like Spencer dominated the song writing with a lot of stuff he wrote for Sleepwave and the other songs are also stuff the other guys wrote for other projects. Just feels like a playlist of the members kf underoath’s other projects with occasion UO moments more so than a true UO album.
I’m having a hard time following what was going on to be honest with Erase me. Did the producer not allow them to do certain shit? The way Tim mentioned it was a little confusing to me personally. I’m a little slow sorry haha

Wow, props to them for admitting publicly that Erase Me wasn't great.
Love the new album by the way.
Yeeeees!!!! One of my favorite parts of UO record cycles is the behind the scenes documentaries that generally come along with the album.
Yes!! I missed the days when it physically came with the record. I used to be way more excited to watch those than just jam the album haha
Yess!!!
Yesssss. I love that they recognize erase me was not it for them. This album is a whole new playing Field and I’m so excited for it

Heck yes! This is going to be a great format to tell the story of the record
Wheewwwww this looks interesting. I can’t wait to hear it.
Arizona!!!! Lets goooo
Holy shit I can't wait to watch this. Top 3 underoath albums for me

Best album EVER!!!
I love you guys
I'm so confused. Where do I listen to this?
This is better than Erase Me but I feel like they should let Aaron sing more/most of the hooks. That's what he does best.
They’re a live band first and foremost imo. It’s tough to drum and sing huge choruses.
@@Yiggityyakked I've seen them twice, once on the Chasing Safety+Define tour. He was flawless.
Let's take the moment to appreciate how much effort he puts into the content for us

It’s called Erase Me for a reason
I'm first I'm the biggest fan 😝
This band has and always will take themselves way too serious haha.

Smart move to put this content after the records release. Keep it alive 👌
Subscribed to the RSS feed. This album is one of the best underoath albums,, eagerly awaiting this podcast to drop!
Can’t wait to see you guys in March
Is this the best era of Underoath? I think it is!
Hey, I loved Erase Me!
Where can I watch this! Can’t wait!
It’s going to be a podcast. Check the link in the description
IM SO EXCITED SOMEONE PINCH ME PLEASE
This album is absolutely incredible. You guys made a masterpiece and I can’t wait to see how it happened
Thanks for getting UO back on track.
Underoath is in their prime 🔥 again
WHEN IS IT DROPPING!?
Love it!
Saying "fuck" in your songs doesn't make you cool. It takes away from your value. Those songs excluded, pretty good album.
