Yeah, Harley Quinn is one of the most common cosplays I see at a con. I also have seen Mario, Luigi, Link, and Pikachu a lot... also Raven, Rainbow Dash, Elsa, and any Eeveelution (Espeon, Umbreon, and Sylveon being the most common).
At Glasgow Comic-Con last year it was like 70% Harley Quinns.

There's nothing wrong with Homestucks. We are a fandom like any other. I have yet to meet a single person who read Homestuck and didn't like it.
And Terezi is just easier to cosplay. You don't need some obscure skirts or capes or fuck*ng wheelchairs. Just red glasses and things you'd need for a normal Homestuck Cosplay anyway.

You need to read act 5 act 1 at least, but you can't skip the intermission.
Also, it's best to get into the fandom as much as you can. Fanarts, shippings, animations, comics, voice acting. These are the best part of Homestuck.

fan fiction may contain satire, but it is not in of itself, satire. satire is mocking the original product, fan fiction is personal gratification by taking an original work, and then adding upon the concept, with the intent of creating a larger universe than the original, in a way, mainstream comic books are the most pure example of this, with different writers getting sanctioned to put their own spin on existing characters and works, with internet fan fics being the more noticeable , since it is the one that more likely, deviates from the original concept. so yes, it may contain elements of satire, but it isnt satire by nature, which was the point i was trying to get across., fanfiction has a requisite of wish fullfilment, when a writer puts in changes ,or additions to make the work their own, whether good or bad. spaceballs, instead , simply mocks the original concept with something that they know deliberately wouldnt happen in the real star wars and other franchises in the film.

I dont get why there is so many Inuyashas. I have barly seen more then 5 in the past 4-6 years at a con.
There is a huge lack in partycity deadpools, Narutos, Captain Americas, Generic AoT OCs, Doctors, Fem Lokis, MC Steve, and humanized ponies/pokemon.

I can understand the crossover frustration, but what's wrong with gender-swapping? Sometimes your favorite character just isn't the same gender as you.
I don't think they were making fun of gender-swapping, just the girl correcting them when she looks way more like Hermione than a gender-swapped Harry.... And you know, sci-fi glasses :p

yah I agree... it makes sense to label the Harry/Hermione mixup as an issue of bad costuming rather than of gender swapping so I still find it bothersome that they yelled that out in frustration.
And that just fucking stupid.
As a female who often cosplays as male characters I find that when other people gender-swap they have a habit of changing the character drastically. Making their hair straight in instead of curly. Giving them an ultra sexual outfit or just altering messing with the character as a whole. Sometimes it's alright it's just usually they end up altering or changing a key part of that character. Personally I just copslay the male version get a chest binder and a wig because I find it more true to the character.

There are so many references that I understand now versus the first time I watched this video!
It's funny because this is so true. Every con I go to has this to an extent and it gets annoying, but I also find it do creative and different when done well. I suppose it's a doubled edged sword. I've done both accurate cosplays and crossover type things like a human rainbow dash recently. The important thing is to have fun and make the best cosplay that you can : )
