I'm a refrigeration engineer in Seattle and I gotta say that is kinda cool seeing all the boats that you worked on on TV
Super cool, gotta be a good feeling seeing your work out there
I invented boats. Kinda cool right? 😎

For anyone who doesn't know "Pan Pan" is used when signifying that there is an urgent matter on a ship, boat, or even an aircraft. It also tells other radio stations not to interfere.
If the situation escalates to where people's lives are in danger, it becomes a "Mayday"
Correct my friend! 👍🏻
PAN PAN PAN is used by aircraft. PON PON PON is used by Boats, althought they more or less mean the same thing. If your gonna spout facts, get them right.
pon pon is a notice from the USCG of a boat with trouble, or a person in the water. It's a notice to all boaters to help if they can.
@@AnIdiotAboard_ It's actually Pan Pan (mnemonically it's Pay Attention Now) for boats as well, and it's an urgent broadcast, not quite a mayday, but higher than a securite, which is used for a notice such as a ship departing or a tug with a barge in tow transiting a busy area. Mayday is essentially life threatening, the boat is sinking, on fire, someone's dying or dead, etc. Pan Pan, Securite and Mayday are all French in origin, with Pan originating from 'panne' which means breakdown in French. Mayday originates from 'venez mai'der' which means "come help me.'
And boats are submarines 😅
Love when these vessels help each other.
They may be competing for the most crab caught, but they're one big family facing the same dangers, not matter what ship they're on
It's the law at sea you are to help as long as it doesn't put your vessel or crew in danger.
I went overboard once, and even though there were other boats around, no one came to my rescue. So, I stood up and waded to shore...smh
I’m a captain and beyond the maritime laws that require you to assist if safe and possible, you always help if you can safely do so because one day it might be you that needs help
Material loss hurts, but they were saved and unharmed, the best possible outcome from a blaze like that at sea. Peace, respect
I had to breathe a sigh of relief when they were all spotted in the life raft. So many times it happens too fast for them to get to safety, and all hands are lost. Glad these men are able to fish another day.
It was wrong to say the C130 could not do much. In a half hours time the raft could drift beyond range of the helicopter finding it. Having the 130 stay on top of them is vital.
I have the same injury as junior & got the exact same operation! Never worked I'm still in agony. So I feel his pain. 💯
I read where the Drs concern is that the surgery went well. Even tho they didn’t care that it didn’t help patients
I remember Scott Campbell Jr. quit captaining because he got injured, so when I saw, about a month ago, that he's back, I was surprised. Though, happy, because I think he's one of the good captains. But, here he is still with a hurt back. I hope he doesn't get injured to no return.
MUCH Praise to this GOOD SAMARITAN VESSEL🙏🏻🙏🏻 That’s what BROTHERHOOD is all about!!💪🙏🏻💪 Sorry for the vessel loss but your here to fish another day!! 🥰😎🙏🏻🙏🏻
It’s good to finally see a good outcome with this type of thing.
Jr I know the pain of a herniated disk. I had one in 2011-12. I was a grower at a greenhouse in Richmond Indiana. I toughed out the spring season (our busiest time of the year averaging 80 hours a week). I could only take like 10 steps before I would have to stop due to the pain. An injured back is no joke
So true I've had two back surgeries over herniated discs and the worst part is when you go see a new doctor and their like will back pains very easy to lie about.. before they even look at my records to see that I had surgery they always do the I don't prescribe pain meds and all that and blah blah... you can't fake that pain
@@jeffgoespewpew7189 I had people during that spring who said I was faking it or I was a wimp etc. Or I had people tell me don't get surgery on it, they will make it worse. Just go on disability. And I was like um I'm 24/25, I'm not living my life in this debilitating pain, I'm too young for that.
I hhave had back pain for about 20 yrs now...put me out of work entirely. Need 5 more fusions but spine has now shown degenerative disc disease and there is no help w that . Will eventually be in wheelchair as nerve pain strikes me down frequently..worse pain ever
Cant imagine getting bounced up and down so violently on that ocean. It has got to be excruciating to him
I exploded 4 at once, I was completely paralyzed for 12 hours. Then my left leg was paralyzed to a degree for almost 2 years. The pains was horrible
West of Adak?. That not somewhere you want to be in distress. There ain't much past Adak. Hell there isn't much in Adak to begin with. As a mariner this is why we train for all possibilities.
@2:20 Sig "C130 can't do much for'em".. Well, lets see, they can drop a life raft if they didn't have one, he can drop a pump(s) if there was a chance they can use it to fight the fire. If the boat did sink (seeing they abandoned ship), the C130 at least has eyes on the people in the water.. Nope, he's right, can't do much. But I can bet if anything if you are in the middle of nowhere waiting for help to arrive, seeing that big bird circling overhead gives some SOME comfort till the swimmer comes knocking on your door. No drama there Sig. Glad they made it out and the Good Sam boat was Johnny on the Spot!
I mean, it can only do so much to help, not like he said it wouldn’t help.
@@jacobeldredge2956 I think people underestimate just what it can do. The one big thing is HOPE. But they have a few things they drop from the air that can be the difference between life and death. Thats what I was implying. I know firsthand how they can help. Just one SMALL example. I remember once when a Koren fishing vessel burned and sunk in the western Pacific ocean. A CG C-130 flew out with rafts, med supplies, and a hand full of PJ's from the Air Force, and dropped them in the water, along with the better rafts and supplies while they waited for a submarine to show up and pick them up. The C130 stayed on station till it went to refuel at Midway Island and returned to circle them for another 12 hours till the sub showed up. Long range, time on station, and air-dropped equipment and personnel. They can help more than you think. In this situation, again, just being there is more help than you think. What Sig said was just his ignorance towards not knowing their capabilities. But hey, Sig ROCKS!
Prob something that folks don't get on the water much think about. But if a vessel is going down that you are on, make sure that you are with that EPIRB!
What is EPIRB, thank you
The epirb is supposed to float up when the boat goes down. It shouldn't be far from where you are.
One of the best saves thanks

Man when your back goes like that there really is nothing you can do. It’s like the entire foundation of your body has gone down.
That's awesome teamwork!
We caught fire once turned around and my cousin Billy was on back deck hooking buoys to his belt😆 captain got it out but nothing worse than being 100 miles offshore on fire.In warm water(gulf of Mexico) but sharks had been following for last two sets so needless to say not fun.
If that last guy was half the man he claims to be
He’d have let his deputy skipper pull in the crab and take some of the credit
I know the pain of a herniated disc, mine is screwed up right now and boy it looks like I'm a 90 year old man when I wake up in the morning until I get moving around for a few hours...only 34 years old.
How old is this video that jake is working on the northwestern
How can you be floating in an OCEAN with a boat that has 5 or six pumps, and NOT be able to drown out a fire??? How is that Not a requirement by the Coast Guard ???
If the fire starts where it takes out the pumps power source first perhaps
Shutting down fuel and isolating ships power are some of the first steps in containing a ship fire. This may render on board pumps useless. This is why commercial vessels carry pumps with an isolated fuel supply, such as a small gas powered pump.
In a ship fire you have very little time to take control. The decision to get into a life raft, and distance yourselves must not be delayed.
Ceisars repair...run down through the flames and fix the burnt Electrical pumps real quick I'll be in the life raft ...dumbass

Jr can sure shave, but not do his job.

A C-130 SHOULD have a way to fly low and a way should be practiced, dropping an inflatable with crew to help Somehow, until Surface help can arrive. I wonder how this could be achieved... When I was in the Navy, I was stationed on the Stennis and I recall our CO calling on the 1MC they received a Distress Signal we were right there lol Was scary really! But we had a UH-60 Seahawk in the air in less than 3 mins. I recall seeing the survivors and they were so happy to see us I can only imagine why! LOL I pray the Lord Bless ALL on the Seas, it is no joke out there!!
The other boat coming by to help is so nice to see. The coastguard is there for situations like this but it’s always nice to get some extra help.
I spent over twenty years in the USN. Fire at sea is the biggest threat to ships and sailors. We practiced firefighting and damage control everyday. Even holidays. There was more than one occasion when we had fires on board out to sea. We were fortunate enough to get it under control and out without serious injury or loss. But there were fires back then in the sixties and seventies that were devastating and deadly. We watched and learned from those disasters.
I understand ships like the Forrestal were cursed when it came to fires.
So is it to expensive to put an eperb in a crews gear so that way if they go in the water with or without a survival suit could be found a lot faster then just a educated guess where they might be
I thought the Eperb was on the boat but maybe 🤔 I’m stupid
