It's not a death, it's gathering up the real team 👌
All the best members died first (Davey, Sean, Hosea, Lenny, Arthur, merry Beth, Kerin) all the faithful members that went first
I wouldn't be surprised if there's a camp encounter where Lenny actually does explain how he met Dutch but we've just not found it yet

Lenny's death is still the most unexpected death of the game for me. I didn't expect them to kill two characters off within one mission. No cinematics, just shot dead on a rooftop 😭#Lennny!!!
I immediately stopped the game at that point then Googled if it is possible to save Lenny. Unfortunately, it is not

Even lenny backstory shows the "revenge is a luxury we cant afford " if lenny didn't go to kill the drunk men he wouldn't have to run to a life of crime that will leave him dead so young. He was an educated man and from what we see in the game hard working ambitious smart and kind young man. He could have been many things

He was a black guy living in the early 1900s. He wouldn't have any opportunities. As sad as it it's, the gang was probably one of the few people that actually accepted him.

Man, when going through my first play through, I didn’t know that Lenny was just 19 when he died. He was my second favorite character.

I bet they met something along the lines of Dutch laughing at Lenny after a minor inconvenience then inviting him to join. Just like 90% of the gang.
Lenny is actually pretty intelligent compared to the other gang members so I doubt he tried robbing Dutch or anything like that. It’s more likely that Dutch found Lenny being pursued by bounty hunters and took him in from there or something. And due to Lenny’s ability to read and write Dutch realizes that Lenny could be basically another Arthur or John

Lenny is one of my favorites, I like how they fleshed out every character in the game as if they were the protagonist, makes them way more interesting.
Rdr3 really needs to be how hosea and dutch started the gang and while theyre in their prime.. idk bout yall but i think an epilogue where the gang is still young, no beef or anything just pure gunslinging is the best we can get.

My favorite way to frame the death of Arthur without being sad. Is as him going to heaven or hell, depending on honor. Where of your in hell, you get beat the shit out of every npc you killed. Or go to heaven and see Lenny Sean and hosea having a pint of beer. He sits down and the red dead theme plays.

Each character that dies was someone who would have sided with Arthur. Lenny, Shawn, Hosea, and Keiran. The Vanderlinde gang were to interconnected, they all care to much. and so when one dominoe fell they all did.
