This is how an art supply evaluation should be done- balanced and factual, informed by experience and skill. A minimal formula does place control in the hands of the artist, because if it's in the paint when you buy it, you can't take it out, whatever "it" might be- flow enhancers, wetting agents, etc. Brands that are formulated with fewer amendments can still be modified in the studio with ox gall, gum arabic, and glycerine to improve the working properties of the paint, if desired. It's great that there are choices for artists who want to experience the natural personality of the pigment!
Kristy, you are an enabler. I have almost the entire collection of their old tubes and also some new ones, plus a tube of guache. But now you make me wanna go and see what I'm missing from their new ones. Luckily I'm broke these days, which makes me paint and draw more and purchase less.
Just started using this incredible paints. I’m so addicted to trying various brands. Just purchased Michael Harding as well!! Happy painting and…. Looking forward to purchasing and trying out your new brush set when they launch❤❤❤
I enjoyed the swatching of these brilliant clear colors. I believe that they are mostly single pigment colors. Some other you tubers have discussed how they are great for mixing.
Green Earth is usually hard to rewet and a bit “thin” looking, especially if you try to paint with it right away after wetting. Agree with others - the opacity of that label-less green is like chromium oxide, but it seems a bit too bright green to me - could just be the particular source pigment (or lighting) though. Thanks for the swatches!
Hi Kristy 😊 I have many of their paints and love them. Given the swatches I see, I think the unlabeled green may be very probably either Cobalt Green Light or Cobalt Green Deep. They are quite similar. The Light one is just a tad more yellowish than the Dark one, but in my opinion they look almost interchangeable!
SOLD! No granulation at all! Just stunning. Looks like it almost paints itself. LOL. And I was hoping for a no buy February. JK there is no such thing in my house.Okay I just priced them. In the beautiful boxed set with the porcelain palette. Out of my range
your timing with this is excellent, Jenna Rainey just did a video where she swatched out all ninety of their colord to pick twenty [she's replacing her W&&N paints after ten years and was attracted to these because of their lack of toxins and additives hey are apparently just pigment and gum rabic made from sand, lots of really pretty colors in that video, she seemed to have a hard time narrowing it down to twenty - even with leaving out all the cobalts and cadniums, very tempting they are Italian-made, so don't worry about the pronunciations[I'm Italian and couldn't get most of them either] though I am pretty rusty since sadly, the older generation of my family has passed and I don't hear/speak it much anymore I need to find a way to change that somehow
The green looks like Cupric Green Light. My husband was sitting next to me when I pulled up their color swatches. His remark well it’s a good thing that your box (fabulous vintage cowboys and Native Americans on the front, living in Arizona I couldn’t resist it) only has a couple of spaces left. My remark, you know I have empty “boxes”. I swear I have to stop. You are an enabler.
Luv this brand…. Used it years ago when Zoltan Szabo was alive…. He used these w/c exclusively. I enjoyed them…. But lost supplier years ago. Thinking about getting more! Thanks for the reminder!
I keep hearing people talk about this brand. I want to try it out sometime. I’ve stuck to the same colors for years and don’t often change. Great video :)
Great video! I love my MaimeriBlu watercolors - except for painting right from the tube when they're sooo sticky. But I paint with less water, which might make a difference. Btw, I, too, can't resist art supplies. I have no many watercolors and colored pencils from craft to artist level. And I'm beginning to collect gouache, too LOL
do you find them hard to rewet- get onto the brush? ive seen others having to really swish the brush to pick up the color... i absolutely love this landscape!!
It’s okay Kristy, we give you permission to go get the gouache. It’s all about pleasing the RUclipsrs. It’s your work it’s your business it’s totally justifiable. See now we’ve given you permission you can blame it on us. I can’t wait to see what the team would do together.
Have you noticed how some watercolors seem more creamy while some seem more watery? Like my DS and Sennelier paints MELT when they touch water. But my Maimeri Blu and Holbein I have to work a little to get some good color going. I love them all though! And yes I agree 100% with the downheartedness when first trying them. I could NOT layer over them and was like...wtf? They're like those Mijello paints where it's just BOOM color payout from the get go. One of my future videos I'll use em. They scare me right now though? Been sitting in my little rando tube paint container since I got em and they broke me.
The green with the missing label looks like cobalt green deep to me. I like the paint but I don't understand some of their colors like cobalt green light and cobalt green deep are pretty similar to each other, but at the same time are completely different from cobalt green.
Do you have favorite colors (of maimeri) that you think are noticeably better than similar colors from other brands if we wanted to try a few tubes? Related question: do you have an ideal mixed palette of best/favorite colors from among professional brands? An all-star palette...
Please do some more longer videos at least 10-15 and lives hell I’d love 30-1 hour, I dont care about the stupid algorithm it doesn’t understand Kristys followers
@@KristyRice Kristy I’m the one that has binge watched you whole channel I’ve seen every video some many times over I’m currently going through your tictok (just caved to this app) we just want more of you 🦋
@@KristyRice anyway, I live in Rome and of course it's very easy to find them, but I didn't know that this brand was so good. So I bought a few tubes and a palette and now I'm using those more than the Windsor and Newton professionals. I still believe that WN are slightly more vibrant, but hey, Maimeri are way more cheaper.

Love how you have flowers for your samples of paint to test on. Love love love it!🥰👍
Aww thanks!!
Jennifer Stay at coloring bliss has all kinds of designs for swatching. Flowers, keys, spoons etc.
👍🏻👍🏻
Mmm, MaimeriBlu. I have four or five in my main palette. I’m a sucker for a transparent paint, so these are among my favorites. Thanks for the review.
Well these are it for that!!!

I’d really like to find this brand! Love the pure colors! Thanks Karen Dirmish

@@KristyRice Lol gah !!!! 😂 you bet !
The paints are so beautiful I just had to go see what was available on Amazon. Picked up a 5 tube introductory set. Can’t wait to try them out.

MB makes my favorite Quin Rose. Luminous and heartbreakingly lovely. :)

Hahaha! You said it! Color addiction is real.
Love colors!
😘😘😘
That green color looks like PG17 or Oxide of Chromium. In Maimeri I believe it is Sap Green
Ahhhh thank you!! Checking it out!!
I think it's sap green, too.
Agreed, looks like Oxide of Chromium to me too. Which I usually think of as a more opaque color.
Kristy I’m wondering if you have made your swatch sheets available to your followers/patrons?
Not yet but soon! :)
I love these paints. ❤
Omg so beautiful 😍❤️ thank you!!!
You’re welcome 😊
do you find them hard to rewet- get onto the brush? ive seen others having to really swish the brush to pick up the color...

Did you hear Mariblu is discontinued?
Whaaa?? Where did you see that. I’m so curious now
So I rewatched Jennifer Stays trip to Jerry's in Phoenix and yes. She was told the brand is discontinued.
Paul Clark just did a test of these, I think your green might be green gold?? Mmmm?
Reallly?? Now I’m curious!
