The simple tricks such as "come" or "lie down" did surprise me at a little, but I figured it wouldn't take that long at all considering how smart cats are. (I knew that they're underestimated compared to dogs in some ways.) However for as quick as she caught on to how to do the "high-5" it did surprise me a little more.🙂

      * No, not really. I've noticed that cats really watch their owners like a hawk. They are fully and consciously aware of who takes care of them. So they want to know everything that's going on with them. They will notice when you're not being quite yourself, and when you're not giving them the usual amount of attention. They really are creatures of habit and routine.

@@Catlily5they do care, and they’re loyal. My Bee was friendly with a former neighbour. I used to hear him chatting to her on the stairs. She would follow him when he did his laundry because the clothesline was on the roof. She loved getting out there. He was always mindful not to lock her out. Then I got into an argument with my roommate over a serious issue. While I was overseas visiting my mother, the roommate went to great lengths to get the neighbour on his side. So when I returned the neighbour and the roommate teamed up to make my life unpleasant. Bee wouldn’t have anything to do with the neighbour after that. I know this because he told me himself that he’d fallen out with her. No more friendly conversations on the stairs. Don’t mess with my mommy.

When my husband had cancer and entered hospice care in our home, our cat started laying at his feet on the bed. As he got sicker, the cat moved up higher toward his head. Cat would hiss at the nurses trying to move her so they could change his sheets. Finally she moved up by his shoulder and I knew that would be his last night with us. And it was. She’s awesome.

Sad that the poor hospice nurses had to deal with the house pet hissing at them. So sorry your husband died (janice) and with hospice care it wasn't pretty. My wife was a nurse who would have been trying to change the bedding of your husband while the cat was interfering. While the trope cat hissing at health care workers seems cool, the reality is that those nurses are trying to provide the best care they can to a dying person. It's a reality that people don't REALLY understand until they experience it.
My wife died from covid recently. No pet to foreshadow. Only wonderful nurses providing the best care they could.

True story. My 13 yr old cat, Chester, told me I had cancer after I had found a lump between my right arm pit and my breast. He has always laid on my left hip, since he was a baby, and suddenly he started getting up under my right arm pit and meowing at me, non stop. He would nuzzle his head into my armpit and meow to me. That's when I knew. He told me and he was right. He knew. Could he smell it or just sense it? Well, It was cancer. I had a mastectomy of my right breast 07/27/2022. My baby boy has been my protector all along. He is my hero.

My sister-in-law took in my cat when I had a stroke and was sent to a nursing home for rehab. She was afraid her cat (a bad actor) would not be happy, but her cat actually accepted my cat and there were no fights, thank God. My SIL had a king-size bed and both cats slept on it. She told me that my cat was sleeping up against her abdomen and stomach and in fact she hadn't been feeling well. Her doctors didn't know what was wrong but she was in a great deal of pain. She said my cat "Junior" made her feel better by sleeping there. My poor SIL ended up being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and within a year, we lost her. Junior was a great emotional support to her and even though I came home from the rehab, I left him with her for 6 additional months until after her death. I couldn't have asked for a better home for him nor could I snatch him away. It is a common thing that if we were ill or had surgery and were lying on the couch recuperating, one of our cats would jump up and lie down with us, and I have the many photos to show it. I had one cat that was anti-social as all hell, just not a lap cat at all. I was fired from a job and even though it was spite and I was prepared for it, I was extremely upset. It was the only night that cat slept with me in her entire life (around 16 years).

I have definitely seen a mother feral use a special sound, sort of a trilling meow, to tell her kitten, hiding under cars, that it’s safe to come over to visit. She also meows for me, sort of a crying sound, to come out and feed her. And she’s very smart.

Yeah some of those studies are full of it. I've seen two feral adult cats, the male calling the female with a meow. It was a distinct meow; like it was directed. They were a bonded pair. I've also heard a certain meow can be a mating call. To say they molded it after babies crying is so anthropomorphic. Mammals, and mammal babies all over make noises, it isn't exclusive to humans.

Every night my cat Tiger gives me and my wife "ni ni lovings" When I'm ready to go to bed he soon joins us in bed, sometimes he will sleep with us and other times he just kneads into the blankets, and snuggles up against us. Even when he's asleep elsewhere and I go to bed, he always has that 6th sense awareness and wakes up to go join us. And when I wake up the next day, he lays in my lap after I've had something to eat. He is so precious and such a sweetheart. Cats are such an incredible blessing and a phenomenal joy to have!

I cat-sat a lovely little ginger named Pelle (along with the people I lived with at the time) for a few months. I was really struggling with my depression at the time, some days worse than others. One day I was glued to my bed. Couldn’t for the life of me get up. Not even to get a glass of water. Pelle is normally a very independent cat. He doesn’t particularly like people touching him. However on this day, he snuggled up with me in bed and spent the entire day with me. From when I woke up until evening. ❤🥺I will forever treasure those moments. If it weren’t for his support, I don’t know if I would have me it through that day.

Fred was definitely my morning alarm clock he'd get upstairs and start crying at my bedroom door to wake me up so he could get his morning hug, unfortunately last year I found out he had a tumour and he had to be put to sleep. It's taken me almost a year to get over losing him.
I now have a new kitten, but she's a lot of hard work. She's mostly at the stage where she wants to play and fight everything. I also keep an eye on her at 8 pm because that's when she goes completely wild, and I have to keep an eye on her until it's her bedtime. Nia's a lot of hard work, but she's very sweet when she wants to be.

When my Lucy comes in during the night she jumps on my bed and lets me know she wants fed by head-butting my chin. She doesn't do this lightly and there is no way I can avoid waking up and feeding her. She learned this from another female who unfortunately died earlier this year. My cat of 13 years died 2 months ago from cancer. She taught me a lot. With her I finally figured out why cats meow at the door but don't go when you open it (it means "Let's go", not "let me out"). I taught her the "what's up" head shake. She was very hilarious doing it. And I always knew when she needed something. She would yell and I'd ask her to show, she would lead me where the help was needed. She knew my schedule and by the time of the alarm she was already waiting by the bed. And she could complain! I could come from work and she would tell me "all about it". I once asked who abused my cat while I was gone, my husband "me.. who told you? But I did not mean it. I offered her a treat, she came and I realized we were completely out". She did not talk to him anymore that day lol.

My cat used to wait in front of our bedroom door a few minutes before my gf got up to go to work. As soon as she'd open the door he started meowing (sounded more like talking really). He didn't want food or anything, she'd just pet him and talk to him and they did that pretty much everyday for the last years of his life. When she'd come back from work he'd often jump on the hood and start trying to get her attention through the windshield. I'm more on a bit of a night schedule and we had our own rituals and every time I'd come out the bedroom I'd wait about 2 seconds and hear him jump off his favourite couch and run over to see me. I've had numerous cats. I still love all of them even if they have passed away, and I'm not sure I can't take another heartbreak....call me weird, call me weak, I just miss them so much.

When I cry she stays closer to me, when its treat time she reminds me (very vocally lol & bizarrely even if shes been asleep & missed the time herself haha) she's an indoor cat so her 'gift' to me when i come in is what used to be a spider, always on the floor where i sit, she follows me from room to room, and bless her when i start getting my bags ready to go out she gets a bit twitchy as she knows I'm going out (I hate that she doesnt like me going out but needs must)
Shes not one for constant fussing & its only ever on her terms lol but I know when she wants attention & she gets it.

    Two things about this. 😸
The first is that one of my two cats does meow at and to the other. He does this when they're playing or if he's looking for her. When I adopted him, I was told he had not been exposed to other cats, and he had come from a "bad" situation. They didn't elaborate on that. Both cats, Bobo, the Tabby male, and our female torti, were cats that came from either abusive or troubled situations.
The second thing is Bobo helped me recognize I was seriously sick! Both Bobo and Cinnamon did, but Bobo especially.
Long story short, I have a growth that's still currently being treated on the right side of my breast. It's actually so small it's not visible, able to be felt, but Bobo knew!
He typically likes to sleep with me or sit with me on my chair. Last month, he started literally nuzzling in the crook of my right arm.
But, he was also acting differently. He would go hide under my bed for an hour or two, and my daughter even commented he acted, "depressed".
I took him to the vet, and he checked out physically ok, but the Vet told me I looked flushed 😳.
I had been feeling nauseous, tired, but I had started a new medication recently, so, thought nothing of it.
Again, to make it short a few days after Bobo's visit, I, MYSELF was rushed to urgent care with a high fever, on the verge of whatvthe doctors said becoming Sceptic.
I was immediately put on antibiotics and thankfully am doing better. Though I am still taking antibiotics now, I realized Bobo apparently noticed my illness long before I did.
He's still playing Dr. Bobo as he continues to insist on sleeping in the crook of my right arm. He has Nurse Cinnamon because she began sleeping on my leg, lol.
I was not a cat person until I adopted them. I love them so much and learn so much from them.
Btw, I enjoy the channel very much. It's helped me to make sure my kitty angels are happy, healthy, and living their best cat lives.
A big Thank you from Bobo, Cinnamon, and myself.

One of my cats has a specific, highly pitched cry that he makes if he wakes in the night and he can't remember where I am. I also think it's when he has a bad dream, because there's a specific tone of fear and disorientation. It makes me fly into the landing to talk to him in a very low, soothing voice as he comes up the stairs. On those nights, he goes back to sleep, glued to my left hand side. My other boy, who sleeps at my right shoulder, barely opens his eyes before he's snoring again.
