Hear the punchy sound of API console summing in action.
The sound behind five decades of landmark albums, API consoles are legend for good reason. From Stevie Wonder's Talking Book and Fleetwood Mac's Rumours, to The Cure's Pornography and Radiohead's Hail to the Thief - the mid‑forward punch of API's classic analog consoles breathe aggressive, multi‑dimensional color into your mixes.
Developed in partnership with API, exclusively for LUNA Recording System, the API Summing Extension emulates the 2520 op‑amp and custom output transformer-based summing amps found in legendary API consoles over the past 50 years - giving your LUNA mixes all the attitude and tone of API's esteemed analog desks.

Genuine API Summing for your Mixes
Taking you beyond any summing plug‑in, the API Summing Extension is built into LUNA's mixer, capturing the sonic detail of API's iconic bus channels. This workflow eliminates the need to manage multiple plug‑in windows. Simply push up faders and use the per‑bus Headroom control to add character and dynamic enhancement.
Why API Summing?
When audio sources flow through an API console - specifically the 2520 op‑amp and custom output transformer - random analog nonlinearities work together, producing complex, musical harmonics and transient clipping. These summed signals add punch, depth, and character for a mid‑forward, lively mix.
Getting it Right
UA dissected and studied multiple API consoles - pouring over original service manuals and gaining crucial insight into their discrete Class A operation and hybrid voltage/current summing circuitry - in contrast to the Neve 80 series pure current summing. UA's team of engineers throughly emulated all of the nonlinearities and clipping characteristics, plus API console fader taper and pan law, giving you the same chart‑topping results as API's flagship consoles.

Basic Sidechain would also be cool...
Maybe it’s the RUclips feed, but, it doesn’t really sound any different than a number of console plug-ins I can add to my mix…
I'm pretty sure it doesn't suppose to be something different than that. It's preamps after all, nothing else.
Congrats UAudio! Add SSL summing and the world is all yours
Hold my beer. 😄
👊
@@UniversalAudioPlease dont mess with my emotions.
you know its coming but i want dangerous
@@brianvillage5 this is console color emulation with multiple stages of transformers and op-amps. Dangerous summing doesn't have this type of benefit, there isn't much to emulate in there. It's called summing but they are two fairly different things.
One thing we know for sure is that this forward thinking company will always surprise us with innovation. So much for my brain in one day. Great job UA.
😍
Latency compensated inserts would also be pretty cool.
Lets hope they bring it
@@iliravdyli4109 lolz everyone is waiting
I love UA more and more
😍
Well, this sealed the deal on Luna for me. The sound of an API Vision or a 1608 takes my engineering from "oh that's pretty good, Brad" to "00h, g0T d4mn, bRad!" Thanks for adding this.
👍
It’s like turning a light off....damn.
Hello, any chance Luna will be compatible with Behringer X Touch One (fader controller) in the near future? Thanks.
Sorry Evil Sounds, we can't comment on any future developments or releases. We appreciate your interest though and encourage you to stay tuned.
@@UniversalAudio Thank you👍🏽
You're welcome.
Dont hear Any diference
and that’s why your mixes suck 😂
Just a little touch of API and everything just glues and sounds thicker
Yup!!
And push it slightly forward
Grrrrrrrrr!
Such a shame this one is not available for other DAWs other than LUNA. As a loyalty user of UAD with almost all licenses I'm not happy at all. What about UA?
I hear zero difference on or off. I'm listening through Dynaudio monitors too.
damn ur room / monitor phase must be fucked lol
theres def a difference... not necesarilly a brilliant one tho
Have it on Demo now .. Its certainly different to the Neve Summing .. more of a tighter low end and cleaner high mids. Although pushing the headroom gets more vibe. Definitely a nice effect for those clean pop/rock mixes. If you've already got distorted guitars for example .. you may not want more high end saturation from the console. The ability to mix summing is awesome .. that was never really possible in the real world unless you had two LFAC in the same control room .. not sure I ever herd of that being the case. I assume SSL Summing is next ... then I wonder if we will get some modern classics like the RND 5088? Or maybe even a Shelford Channel Strip? :-)
Hit that Feedback button!
A product that has your input.
Why not have a dedicated channel strip extension on every channel (SSL, NEVE, API, Focusrite etc.) and have the mixer looking more like a real mix desk? That would sound and look sick.
We have that already. The Neve, API, SSL, Helios... all these channelstrips handle this part of the console emulation, the LUNA Summing Extensions handle the summing amp emulation. 👍
@@UniversalAudio What I mean is, if i choose api summing the single luna mixer channel should look like an actual api mixer channel with eq and dyn knobs etc. so we can adjust plugin setting without having to menu dive.
Cool!! Hit the feedback button. 👍
I like the Neve on Lo ohms better.
i agree i didnt find a substantial enough of a difference between neve and api and bypass but when you throw on loZ the difference is big
@@brianvillage5 yeah the differences are definitely subtle but the more you use them the easier it is to recognise the character! I’m loving Neve on Low ohms too!
Just use an el ray on every Track
1st comment. I have it on demo mode. Nice
And that's ladies and gentleman why they created Luna, so they can sell you more stuff... No thanks... The prices are absolutely ridiculous...
You surely do not know what their products can do, how they are created and why they are always being used by pros all over this globe. Yes they cost as does a Bugatti but hey even a decent fishing rod will cost you two times more then for example Lunas pro bundle. And god knows that the fishing rod will be long expired by the time you even scratched the surface of all the plugs given in this bundle ... And another thing I like is their service. They listen to customers and try to implement their thoughts and ideas into their products. Try to ask the same thing from Protools and I refer to the fishing rod again before you will get even an answer ...
@@Joelpopcollege I actually used UAD for years before switching to RME (TotalMix is endlessly superior than Console + the new Room EQ built in, no brainer). Now I use some of their native plugins which are great.
That doesn’t change the fact their plugins were ridicuously overpriced while they had the “protection dongle” aka. DSP. Nowadays when people have ridicuously powered computers, they had to back down and go native so UAD plugs are much more cheaper now.
ok but very expensif.
