To my ears I felt the Neve Summing had a little more warmth and low end to it. The API sounds a bit brighter. What I really want is SSL summing to be honest.
Thank you for this great comparison.. what people should take away from this is how summing can help breath life into a mix. I don’t use luna, I use protools. But having that summing controls on each channel like that must be pretty sweet and makes Luna look like it’s worth a try. Thanks again.
I like the Neve Summing also, a weight was added that you missed a little in the API sound, which sounded cleaner to my ears and when both were off, either one added a new dimension to an already great mix by the way, really enjoyed the music.
It's very material dependent. This track for instance sounds much better with the Neve summing to my ears. However, after a two week trial with both I ended up choosing the API extensions because I mostly mix heavy rock and metal genres, and the clarity and punch of the API won out. Thanks for the demo.
Wouldn't that be interesting to listen to the hardware summing vs the ITB summing (I've never heard OTB and am obsessed by hardware, that I don't have LOL)...
To me, it sounds great. Is it worth it? This is just my opinion, price or not..No. Why? Because there are so many great alternatives such as Slate digital who has great Summing plugins (Virtual Channel and more) and even Waves has the NLS. Watch your gain staging and watch videos on tutorials on gain staging since that is a beginner thing. If anything, get the hardware summing such as Neve 5057. That thing is another level! But besides that, plugin wise, Luna+it's summing is still a plugin and software algorithm. Even with UAD now a days, or even a few of Antelope or Avid, unless you have a slow/old laptop..then DSP is the way to go but as of now, the compeition is sooo good, with the newer Ryzens and the M1(wow great chip), DSP isn't necessary, at least to me. There are many benchmark videos about it. Again, just my thoughts.

Mohol by si ešte prosím ta otestovať a porovnať s free ale napriek tomu magickým AirWindows Console7 a Bus7 summing pluginom a možno že budeme prekvapení pretože mám také tušenie, že by to mohlo pridať viac hĺbky a "analógovej" kvality ako ostatné summing pluginy hoci aj od UAD. Ten človek čo ich zadarmo vyrába iba s podporou cez Patreon robí veci inak a ten rozdiel je skutočne poznať...

I prefer no summing..It has more depth and its more musical to my ears..Its probably because you put those summing plugins afterwards instead mixing into them right?

There was created each individual Neve summing bus during mixing procces. API was changed after that with the same setting.
