It's funny when I look back at this and realize how much my interests and life have changed. Now, all the things I want are more available in Cambodia. This video was after a huge panic attack and all I wanted was familiarity. I'm eagerly looking forward to returning to Siem Reap in May of 2024. I look forward to exploring a LOT more, trying foods I didn't try last time, taking trips to nearby countries, and settling into a nice, mellow life in Cambodia.
You are so humble and honest. Love you. One of the few things I will miss, like you, will be the live concerts (metal, blues). Is the day to day life really all about haggling and avoiding scams? I hope there is also a lot of fun and possibilities of making Khmer friends? The difficult language is a different story.😊
Thank you! There is a lot of haggling if you go to wet markets, but not if you go to grocery stores. However, grocery stores will cost more. It's not really as scammy as many people make it sound. We do often get charged more than locals, but then again, they're making an average of only $200/month. It's certainly easy to meet people and make friends as long as you're mellow and friendly with people.
@cambodiyeah1 thank you again for your answer. Luckily I dare to say that I am a very relaxed and friendly woman 😉. How did you get about learning that difficult language by the way? I don't see much logic in it. F.e. excuse me = attó but if you put a sentence behind it, it's somtó
@@olgashudofsky2830 I've learned by using a few RUclips channels like Khmer Lesson and Speak Like Khmer. I'll be making a video soon about Khmer language resources.
Im proud of you Bill. You gave it a chance which is more than what ppl can say, you were honest with yourself and us which is tough, but above all you realized what makes you happy and there is nothing wrong with that. Glad you had a great experience and I wish you the best. Dont forget about us in Tucson. We still need to geek out sometime. 😎
Come across your channel on the topic of cambodia. The way you talk and look, remind me of colonel Kutz in Apocalypse Now. Good luck with your new venture.
Do what makes you happy, man. At least you gave it a shot, which is way better than asking "what if?". Personally, I only have 1 real friend here. I love and will miss my family dearly, but I rarely see them as is(besides my grandparents, whom I live with atm). I've been a loner here in Indiana for years now lol. I know I'll miss home more than I think I will, but I'm sure I'll manage. Best of luck on your move back to the States, brother.
One last thing that is a plus if you go back home, all the money you make in the states will be going towards your Social Security, so in your older ages you will have more money coming to you monthly. Which is an added bonus! I'm going to Cambodia but I'm 60 and I've getting my social security which is $1,600 a month, just something to think about.
Bill-“I’m pretty tired.....I think I’ll go home now”. Us-“Now what do we do”. 😊 Hey Bill you jumped in and gave it a good crack, sometimes you got do a few things before you know what is really important to you. Peace

If I was getting that I'd be set! However, there's still so much I'd miss yet.

Yup, the weather worries me... I have lived in the south, "Hot & Humid" but I look forward to South East Aisa...
