    I’m from Canada.
    Ran into the “milk scam” in Siem Reap when I was there for a couple of months in 2017. Young girl carrying a baby right by Pub Street after dark.
    They pull on tourist’s heart string and get you to go to a variety store with them. You buy them expensive milk powder, and leave the store together. You say goodbye to each other. When she thinks you’re out of sight, she takes the milk back to the store. The sales clerk gives her half the cost of the milk, pockets the other half for himself, and the milk goes back on the shelf to sell to the next victim of the scam.
    Also….tuk tuks that take you two or three miles to get to a destination only one mile away. And you pay for the extra distance and time.
    But there are scams in countries all over the world.
    But did I ever feel unsafe in Cambodia? Never. It’s a wonderful country with amazing people and temples. Namo Buddhaya 🙏🏼 🌴 🌴 🌴 ☸️ 🇰🇭 ✈️

    I have just spent a month in Cambodia and did not feel unsafe for one second, there are people that draw problems for themselves due to their actions. 😊😊 love the people! 🎉🎉🎉

    Bought a used scooter from a family run scooter repair shop nearly a year ago. Came with a one year warranty. Bulletproof Honda lol, I love it. It’s allowed me the opportunity to not only get around as needed, but also see and adventure to beautiful places seldom or never offered to tourists.
    Phnom Pehn is infamous for drunk drivers. I’ve seen one so far here in Siem Reap that was driving at about 5 miles an hour in broad daylight😂
    The real danger is from the speeding young risk taking teens on scooters. I ride day and night and literally every ride is an insane experience.
    With that reality in mind I bought significant international health insurance coverage. It provides me with some comfort knowing that dead or alive I’ll make it home one day, lol! Not funny but a real issue if you choose to join the road madness 😢
    Great video sir. Keep um coming 🙏🏼

    I am going to Paris in October.. the amount of scams I have been warned about is incredible.. its not just Asia.. and sounds like a little racism to me.. no one says Paris is unsafe to go to re snatching, yet sex trafficking in Europe is rampant.

    Such a fantastic video again. Thank you again for all the time and work you put into them. And I would love to meet you in real life too, next year I will hopefully retire to Kampot (not Siem Reap😊)

    I have lived in Siem Reap for seven years+. I enjoy your content and manner of presentation. Would actually like to meet you sometime. The milk scam was a big deal several years ago, then there was a police crackdown. I haven’t heard about it for at least three years. The solution to the USD damaged bills is readily available. Just don’t use it. There is absolutely no reason to ever use USD. I haven’t for years.

    Cambodia is quite safe, in my opinion. There are snatchers and scam merchants, but if you use some common sense, you'll be fine. Thanks for sharing, Bill.

    What is the quality of healthcare in PP, especially for the typical infirmities of old age - cardiac issues, diabetes, cancers, arthritis, kidney/liver/lungs etc.?

    • @cambodiyeah1
      @cambodiyeah1  6 месяцев назад

      You can get many pharmaceuticals as well as diagnoses and bloodwork done, but for any serious treatment, I'd suggest a trip to Bangkok. Check the description of this video for a link to my video about medical options.

      Same cost as Bangkok (dual pricing system), but not necessarily as good a doctors. Good cardio, but for anything beyond a single stent (about $6,000 V $14,000 in Phnom Penh or Bangkok) it's best to go to India. Chennai is handy via Bangkok.

    I visit Cambodia about 5 months alone rent Tuk Tuk alone ride to Angkor Wat 12 years agoes I’ll love to go out after late afternoon because the weather it’s cool down I love shopping and eat out I’ve feel honestly safe even almost every corner of the streets they have a small stand of monetary foreigners exchangers. So basically Cambodia it’s consider very safe and safer than some of others Asia country. Or even safer that LA, CA we’re I’m at! 😅❤🥰🙏🇰🇭🇰🇭🇰🇭🇰🇭

    You are right about price scam, it happens everywhere on earth, and if they did jacked up the price isn’t all that much, and somewhat normal like any where else. But all and all, it’s still the ideal country to retire for many reasons. Siem Reap, Sihanukville, kompot or Battambang is fine but for me, I love Siem Reap. Anyhow, I have just subscribed your channel. Good luck and happy living in Cambodia.

    I never felt threatened or intimidated in Cambodia or any of the other dozens of countries that I've solo traveled and spent time in. I've never felt threatened or intimidated here in the US either. I guess that some are just easily spooked.

    The foreign people who travel through Thailand need to be smarter and stop listening to the scam of Thai people saying about Cambodia. Thai people would never want to leave Thailand and would lie to you about Cambodia, to discourage you from going there. Cambodia is just any other southeast Asian countries. Go experience it yourself, and if you don’t like it, skip it next time. But if you go to Southeast Asia and skip Cambodia, you are missing the most important country.

    Hi, Where do local expats in Sien Reap go to enjoy a night out other than Pub street, which is more reasonably priced and can meet other Expats?

    • @cambodiyeah1
      @cambodiyeah1  3 месяца назад +1

      There are several expat bars and expats who know each other will agree to meet at places all over town. Some expat bars are Embargo, Homie Pub, Laundry, Mended Drum, and Pomme. Sometimes they still meet on Pub Street for the heck of it and go to Temple Sky Bar or X-Bar.

    It is interesting saying how safe everything is except moto accidents , death, theft.
    Cambodian hospitals are 4th world and all expats have health insurance and fly to Malaysia,Thailand etc for treatments.
    All Khmer homes have trained dogs which are released at night to keep everyone away.
    Violence against female moto riders at night is very very common. Cambodians love to gamble and females are an easy target
    There is a lot of one sided talk which may end up you in more trouble
