Great video i tried to take mines off yesterday did everything exactly like you did and the crank extracting tool would not release the crank arm it would not slide off wondering if i need to hit it with sone wd40 or something to break the hold cause it's on there but thanks for the video it was reassurance that i did it right but mines is just stuck on .
For the price point of the crankset they look really amazing. I don't have any bikes at the moment that still have a square taper bottom bracket though. However, I am interested in the pedals so thanks for the link. I'll give them a try soon.
I bought a Marin Bobcat Trail 4. It comes with square tapered BB. Should I change to external BB? Are they really better? I was about to but those IXF in Amazon or Aliexpress.
It really depends. A good quality tapered square will be better than a cheap external bearing. The external bearing allows for a stronger, stiffer axle.
When you're working around the crankset, keep the chain on the chainring, then, if you happen to slip whilst struggling to undo the crank bolt, you won't inpale yourself in the chainring teeth.
If you don't have a pedal wrench, a 15mm open end wrench could work. That's what I use. I was taught in a bike shop NOT to grease the tapers. That prevents the crankarm from going up too far on the spindle.
My left crank arm fell off today while riding on a trail. At first I thought it was the pedal, but I was wrong. My taper was greased. Could that have been one reason why it fell off? I also think the crank itself might have been under torqued. I'm not sure if it's best to press fit cranks on or not after this incident.
@@TivonSanders That’s probably what it was based on what I was shown in the bike shop. Also, that crank was most likely not as tight as it should have been. Unfortunately, the hole in the crank that fits onto the taper may be (meaning, not definitely) damaged beyond further use. Try refitting the crank AFTER YOU COMPLETELY CLEAN the grease off the taper and fitting hole. Tighten it very snugly, but don’t use Superman force. If that fails, it’s time for another crank arm.
You probably wont read this but…i did buy a walmart bike for like 150$ 😅 and i did around 20000km…and now my chain is skipping 💀 when im climbing hills or when i apply too much force on the pedal…a bike shop told me my chain is probably due to be changed…so i was wondering what are the tools to change my chain and also the rear cassette ? Sometimes im wondering if itd be cheaper to just buy a brand new walmart bike lol
You have to check if you have a cassette or a freewheel. If it’s a 7 speed it’s probably a freewheel. 8 speed could be either and 9 speed and above a cassette
This was a temporary fix so I didn’t want to spend much since I already had a RaceFace crankset and BB waiting for me when I flew back home. ruclips.net/video/XVQgY2rl4Zs/видео.htmlsi=I8PMueeRW31OTS5W
A small squeeze tube of white lithium grease comes in handy from time to time. Great videos by the way thank you
Exactly what I was looking for. Thank you
I am here seaching on which side do the 32 teeth cranck sit on the mount now I know (it's inside towards the frame)

Tony, glad you have it fixed up now. Might want to get some grease and maintenance the cup & cone bb.
No tools 😢
Good job looks really good.
Thanks!

The exquisite box makes me want to buy this crank.

So for that are the washers😂. Thank you once again.

@@TonyHob The bike rides amazing.
this a nice looking crankset for the price

That’s a good tip but in my case I prefer to not have the rear wheel moving around and be able to move the crank freely without the chain in the way.

I have this bike and within less than 4 months the bottom bracket is making creak and clank noises. How is your bike doing? Thanks for the video!
So far so good with the bottom bracket but I haven’t ridden it too much yet
@@TonyHob Cool! Thanks for the reply.
