I used a Kinbor A5 and stuffed it full of ephemera, photos, stickers and all the things. I bend it back on itself just like you showed in your video. It has held up extremy well and the spine has not broken. I can share a picture if you would like.
Thank you for sharing! That makes me feel so much better choosing to use Kinbor. I’d love to see how yours looks! You can send me a message on Instagram. If you don’t have an instagram I’ll share me email 😊
Hi Jasmine. I’ve been binging your videos today… can I just say, I feel like we are kindred spirits! 😄 This video felt like I was watching myself lol. Thank you for putting this one out here. It’s really brought me a lot of peace about the journals I’ve abandoned. I’m also beginning my homeschooling journey. I’d love to hear more about your experience so far. Crossing my fingers the Kinbor spine holds together for you!! -take care 🫶🏽
My kids love scribbling in my abandoned journals 😆 it makes me feel less guilty about “wasting” paper. They get to live a second life haha! If you have Instagram feel free to chat with me there! I’m happy to share how non-existent homeschooling is for me right now LOL! Since having my newborn. But I have a plan for 2025 to get back to our routine
Loved this chatty walk through and seeing what worked and will carry over for you! Good luck on the Kinbor! Your photo a day is just lovely and filled with so much fun pics and life ❤❤ I realized I used to journal a lot lot more last year and I think it became less and less as I got bored in my books and also went off the path of what worked the year prior. Hoping to get back on track for next year 🎉
I found out I was pregnant last November and my five year journal took a hit, but now I know that those blank days were me sick. 😂 so I don’t mind them. I can do more this year!
I used a Kinbor 2-book system this year as my main planner. I loved it! The paper quality is fantastic with my fountain pens, and the spine held up to a lot of chunk from stickers and a lot of tip-ins at the spine. I have to admit that the sticker bumps were an issue for me because I tended to put them in the same places to cover up information that I never use. (This only became a problem later in the books.) But if you vary placement, I could see the Kinbor holding up quite nicely. I took mine everywhere with me, including throwing it in my purse with only a clear cover on it all year. I have Kinbor notebooks that I am able to mess around with the spine like you were showing with your Hobonichi, and they are holding up nicely, too. I use them daily. I will probably be sticking with Kinbor for the foreseeable future because they have proven themselves to me in quality as well as price. I hope that helps you out!
Thank you so much for sharing!!! That gives me so much relief! I am hopeful for my kinbor. If this works out I can see myself continuing to use kinbor over hobonichi when it comes to A5 size.
@@igakarst.officialI think it's a thicker paper, but every bit as fountain pen friendly. It's probably just a higher gsm version of the paper they use in the planners.
@@igakarst.officialfrom my experience with both kinbor planners and notebooks, the dated planners have better paper. They claim to be Tomoe river paper. They handle fountain pen quite well! But I would not use either notebook or planner for ink swatches and water coloring. I have experienced bleed through with the Kinbor undated planners.
I also had a lot of notebooks/planners in the graveyard, though most of them are undated, or simply grid notebooks. For your 5-year techo, you might want to consider zengtangles if you intend to draw. That's what I did to fill uo empty pages in my dated planners. There's a website for the patterns, and there are also CZTs in YT who provide step outs for of patterns. Just my 10 cents.
Just looked those up and wow that looks intricate! That would be really cool to do in the blank pages I have from February. I know it will represent a blank page but it will look way more interesting than keeping it blank. Thanks so much for the suggestion.
I have no questions, but I just want to commend you for acknowledging what didn’t work for you and use that assessment to your advantage, going into 2025.🤗
Love your video❤ I'm using one planner ( kinbor weeks) and one journal ( hobonichi cousin). I've tried using many notebooks/journals before for different things but it doesn't work for me. I need everything in one place🤭
Thank you for sharing your journal experiences. I got into this in May so used undated TRC inserts. I will try dated in 2025. So far I’m sticking to one format. Fingers crossed for everyone in 2025.
After much planner and journal hopping, I've finally committed to a personal 6 ring binder but seeing all the cute journals here and there is a real temptation XD Just so I know, can you tell me where you have found the witch stickers at 17:06? The ones you used for the entries of october 1st and october fifth. They're sooooooooo cute T_T
Oh the notebook graveyard. I have so many. But after years of trial and error and trying to see what I like. I just realized. It just changes. lol. But the Hobonichi weeks have been a consistent notebook for me. So for 2025, I’m adding a few planners for specific categories but I’m reusing notebooks from my notebook graveyard. I’m using a 2021 Hobonichi weeks that had a few pages filled in and just started whiting out all the dates and stamping it with 2025 numbers. I’m determined to use up all my past notebooks one way or the other lol.
I 100% understand the journaling standstill caused by pregnancy, mine completely got shoved aside and I have been missing it but also not feeling good enough to daily journal
I used TRC monthly and weekly inserts and it almost send me to depression because of how many pages I left unwritten. So I switch to Hobonichi Weeks in the middle of September. It have Month and Weeks and just enough section for journaling. And I'm happy. So I'll be using Hobonichi Weeks for next year too. Just for the sake of my mental health.
I got mine from Elysian Papers! A beautiful business based in Greece. The leather choices are beautiful! Everything she makes is custom. I just said 5 Year hobonichi journal and they knew the dimensions.
I really connected with what you said about journaling in your 5 year and suddenly getting too personal and realizing that is not the place to do it. That is why I have multiple journals, I feel like the purpose or audience for the notebook changes what I would write. But I agree that dated books add a lot of pressure. We have to figure out the load our lifestyle can handle. I have used the a5 kinbor for photos and it held up. I just got tired of it too chunky and only used it for 6 months 😅

Enjoyed your video! So true about different seasons in our lives. Thanks for sharing! ❤️🤗

I'm happy to see you being more realistic this year ❤ I think I'm trying to do the same and not add anything "extra" that I cannot keep up with 😅

Hi! What about quality of paper in the Kinbor notebooks? Is it the same as in the Kinbor planner?

You could try the Sterling ink a5 daily planner!
loved all of it

I used TN monthly for eating out and reviews, it worked well and was easy to backtrack!
This is such a great idea! TYFS!

I personally enjoy dated! It keeps me accountable. Good luck with your 2025 planners 😊
@ Thank you! I want to make it work.

Those are by Wohenlanduo! I purchased them from Tokubetsumemori. You can also find Wohenlanduo on Pinkoi. They are the cutest witchy stickers

Our perfectionism can really make or break our hobby sometimes so I totally understand! I’m glad you found the planner that works for you.
Where did you get the cover for your 5 year journal?

I have used the a5 kinbor for photos and it held up. I just got tired of it too chunky and only used it for 6 months 😅
Your video really helped me to just go for it and use the A5 Kinbor!
@ glad I could help 👍
Who makes the cover for your common place book?
It’s by The Superior Labor x Baum Kuchen! Can be found with Baum Kuchen-a stationery store in California. They have a website!
@journalwithjas thank you
