- Taken from Accept, the self-titled debut album released by German heavy metal band Accept. It was recorded in 1978 and released in early 1979 on the German label Brain Records.

In my mind i pictured 18th century sailing vessels..i saw the video and was depressed that they chose a ww2 background. Kinda ruins my interpretation of the song. Still hits my soul anyway!
I like the 2 singers. It gives the band a multi-dimensional appeal. Peter is a real singer, while UDO sounds awesome for the balls to the wall stuff (no pun intended). Udo singing this would sound bad, but UDO on Fast as a Shark is PERFECT
Reminds me of another band that was definitely NOT metal, Journey! in the late 70s they also experimented with dual lead vocalists with Greg Rollie and Steve Perry. When a band is young they will try different things and approaches. In 1974 AC/DC played an actual country western song with Bon Scott that was titled "Love Song".that's what I really dig about legendary bands when they were younger, they were willing to try and play other types of music.

you're right, they were a different band in the late 1970s, a young band still experimenting with their sound and style. always thought that it was so cool to see a young Accept, and how they got started.
What the tie or relation between this song lyric and video with WW2 sea fight ships?
It made me think about all the soldiers that left home in WW2, to fight for a long periode of time at sea and often to never come home. The sea winds kept on calling them ;)
That's one possible extrapolation/interpretation of the lyrics. But that's not what they overtly imply. (A soldier does not really "decide" to leave his home). For my part, I don't wanna picture this song that way. I prefer a more poetic interpretation of some guy who's sick of his life, and DECIDES (keyword) to abandon everything to a trip to nowhere in the sea.
No offense to your stuff, I respect your interpretation and work, but for my part, I'm sick and tired of all these warmonger and all these (pro-)military themes associated with metal and Accept. To me, Metal + army has become a cliché...
