Yes, I'd recognise that class 56 screech anywhere; well captured! Funnily enough the second loco is also ex-BR, that's an ex-BR Class 86 (formerly 86242).
An interesting Class 86 too .. the one that was in the Nuneaton accident in 1975.
Thanks for all the kind comments from you, british rail enthusiasts! I was the cameraman on this particular occasion, my son runs this yt channel, and we both love the sound of big, railway diesel engines.
The 56s were mainly built at Doncaster in England but to help the Romanian economy, some were built there too by Electroputere or some such name.
They were primarily built to do our coal MGR "Merry go round" trains to and from the coal mines to power stations. All the green crap has put an end to all that.
Nice vid, thanks.
@@mirvids5036 Thank you! The 66s, which are said to be much more cost effective, also contributed to the extinction of the 56s, didn't they? By the way what agreement led to the British industry helping the Romanian in those Maggie years?
@@andycsoe Many years before, we contracted out BAC 1-11 aircraft to be built in Romania too.
I can't say I know much about the contracts for the 56s, it might well have been the capacity and timescale of requirement. All the other locos were already beyond their lifespan, such as the 20s. I have photos of the 56 production line at Doncaster from an open day. Great times back then.
They're a long way from home, bless them.
Just for the record, 659-002 used to be British Rail no. 56115 😊
Fantastic to see a couple of our loco's.
Thank you for uploading the video.

Wow that's a big train including the weight of the dead class 86 I love the class 56's very powerful uk locomotives and it's nice to see some of them in use in Hungary and still a few on our uk rail networks I seen about 10 class 56 bodys at electro move depot in long port near stoke a few weeks ago I seen 69001-02 in primer they dont really look any different than a class 56 apart from the lights and no grid on the loco cab!!!😎
Sound a lot different, though! Ying Ying engines.
@@kalicom2937 You call the 12-710 ying-ying engine? I can feel a little contempt in this, am I right? 😀
@@andycsoe No, they make a ying ying sound....
Love that grid scream
Excellent clip, great sound.
They sound virtually identical to the Valletta powered hst's I think that ear piercing screech of engines+turbo two ex br loco's on one freight train happy days!!!😎
Same turbocharger.
I think they were Ruston Paxman engines
@@siddywiddyb with the same turbo fitted
Same turbo, totally different power unit!
@@railfreightdrivergallagherGBRf That's what I said. Same turbo.
Beautiful locos!
Very nice clip!
Fantastic
Szia!
Miért van másképp üvegezve a szélvédő?
Volt baleset,vagy berepült egy madár?
Üdvözlettel.Andras

@@kilincs3126 Szervusz!
Megnéztem a videót,azért csodálatos hogy a halálból visszahozták a gépet, itt magyarországon ilyenért már selejteztek.
Lásd...nohab négyeske története.
Mondjuk ott a főkeret is sérült
We should have kept them!
@richard myer kept them, rebuilt the power units. They only smoked and became unreliable because as usual no money was spent on them. The old privatisation thing. At least BR had an overhaul program.
@richard myer Hell yeh. GM stands for garbage machine. I remember the Romanian grids on the nunny drags. They were hell fire 🔥.
@richard myer I really hope so as well as they are a dying bread here in o'blighty.
Better have them see work elsewhere then have them rot in a yard.

we built them!
Hány hengeres motorja van? És hány ccm?
Ruston-Paxman (English Electric) 16RK3CT típusú tizenhat hengeres, négyütemű, turbófeltöltött dízelmotor. Összlökettérfogata 247273 köbcentiméter, névleges teljesítménye 2420 kW.
