      Buddy, the French were engaged in a war of conquest with the British. You know who else died in the war? The British. Just because people died doesn’t mean there was a genocide.
      I wish people would stop using the word “genocide” to describe every war-related loss of life. You’re just diluting the meaning of the word.

    All the fault of a King 👑 from Acadia, to Canada, to US. The Brit’s should know

  • @EdinburghFive
    @EdinburghFive Год назад +1

    The Acadians did not refuse to take the oath of allegiance and they were in fact never asked to "fight for the British King". The Acadians over the years provided an oath that gained them neutrality. During a period of rising tensions and war between France and Britain in the New World, the Acadians were asked to provide an unqualified oath that would have negated their neutrality. What the British wanted was for the Acadians not to openly support the invading French. It was highly doubtful the British would have armed the Acadians as the risk was too high they would have turned their arms against the British.
    The Expulsion of the Acadians started in 1755 and end in the early 1760s. The Acadians after the end of the Seven Years War were free to return to Nova Scotia or immigrate elsewhere. As we know some of the Acadians in the British Thirteen Colonies decided to move to Louisiana in the mid-1760s and as mentioned the largest group moved from France to Louisiana in the 1780s.
    You may want do a little more research about the idea that the deporting of the Acadians was the first ethnic cleansing in North America.

    • @LouisianaDread
      @LouisianaDread  Год назад +8

      It is regarded as and was ethnic cleansing. It was a genocide. Please do your own research before posting such British apologist history.

    • @EdinburghFive
      @EdinburghFive Год назад

      @@LouisianaDreadI'll ignore your rudeness. But I must apologize as I did drop a word from my last sentence. I had meant to say it was not the 'first' ethnic cleansing. That one word does make a big difference in the statement.
      And by the way, I can assure you, you do not need to worry about my research about the Acadians, as I am pretty sure it far exceeds yours and just about everyone else, I have every seen posting to RUclips.
      Note sure I would fall into a "British apologist" category. I am just providing the facts about the deportations. The readers can make up their own minds about what happened. In making up their minds the least people can do is actually understand the history and context of the period. Life and history are complicated.
      It is hard to qualify the deportations as genocide as by definition genocide is: 'the deliberate killing of a large number of people from a particular nation or ethnic group with the aim of destroying that nation or group'. The important words here being 'deliberate killing'. There were no plans to deliberately kill any Acadians. People certainly died but these were not intentional on the part of the Nova Scotia government and New England militias, or the inhabitants of the British North American colonies. The deaths that occurred came about largely due to ships sinking, disease, and deprivation.
      Do keep up your work at developing videos about the Acadians as it is an important and interesting story.

    • @ThisIsMyYoutubeName1
      @ThisIsMyYoutubeName1 Год назад +1

      @@EdinburghFive If RUclips videos are your source of history, I can assure you that you do not know more about the Acadians than everyone.
      There are a few versions of the reasons behind the deportations. It varies from location, I’ve noticed.

    • @EdinburghFive
      @EdinburghFive Год назад

      @@ThisIsMyRUclipsName1 Good to hear from you.
      LOL. Not too sure where you got that idea. I can assure you my sources are clearly not from RUclips videos. If you actually look through most of the videos about the Acadians, you will see I provide constructive criticism of them. That would indicate to most, I am not getting my understanding of the Acadians from RUclips videos
      My sources are from primary documents found in archives and libraries in Europe and North America, research papers, and dissertations written by good historians and academics, etc.
      There are a number of facts that led to the deportation of the Acadians but there are not credible accepted "versions". The uninformed may have formed a few opinions as to why the Acadians were deported but from what I have heard and read from these sources are for the most part incorrect. The area the Acadians settled covered a very small geographical area and the population was relatively small. They were not such a diverse people that the reasons behind the deportations would have been different for the British.
      Cheers

      @@LouisianaDread Sure, history and politics go hand in hand, but you are conflating the issue. The Grand Dérangement of 1755 has absolutely nothing to do with 2008 Louisiana politics. To try and intertwine them is disingenuous and clouds the issue. Also, claiming to be unbiased is flat out dishonest. We are all biased. Historical politics is relevant but modern politics distracts from the issue. If you cannot see that then you are correct. There is a level of immaturity at work.
