Confusing it may look to the "trained" eye, but confused it is not!
I can see what the designers were going after. It is the one bike for the typical one bike garage of an average Indian consumer. Daily commutes, weekend rides, a bit of rough road scrambling (which is an every day ride for the rural consumer anyway), it's the one bike that won't bat an eyelid taking on anything that the Indian rider demands of it.
Also, kudos to Karthikeya for braving the orange alert that most other reviewers were fazed by. Very well put together review despite the conditions. Absolute benchmark in auto journalism!

Personally, I find this a looker. I see a little bit of Interceptor (tank and below), scramblerish at the rear and a bit of an Avenger at the front. A slight bigger frame could have been great though.

I’d disagree with the verdict because my father has absolutely fallen in love with this motorcycle. For the stance and the tech and the sheer value it offers, he discarded his love for the CB350 and is continuously inquiring about it in the nearby showrooms.
Hence, I feel that this bike will definitely attract a generous fan base.

1.5 lakh TVS bike is competing with 2 lakh Honda/RE bike and still better engine, better performance (not on paper) , better quality, better comfort because of better suspension esp rear monoshock unlike the rivals having stone age dual spring suspension, fully covered chain so no tension of chain and way better refined and reliable than those tractor kind of 350cc engines. Kudos to tvs

The one I can see clearly is the practicality, all the tech gimmicks aside, the last practical no nonsense bike which is suitable for office rides on week days and some long ride fun on weekends was the fz250 which is light on pocket and good to ride, now i see the same / a better version here, as it has relaxed seating, a ton of accessories from the company itself, now the only thing that stands here is reliability, hope it lives up to it, coz I'll be going for either a fz25 or a Ronin for sure

    1. How do you rate the agility and performance in terms of long touring, in terms of riding to Ladakh and the likes?

I like the styling . That tail lamp looks good.
The bike delivers all its torque below 4000rpm just like enfields.
But take into consideration that the new gen RE BULLET will be similar in price.
And that new RE(hunter) could be even cheaper.
    the pricing is bit off.
For 1.5lakhs - you can get N250 with dual channel ABS

Still the cb 350 is a better bike if one can shell out that bit of extra cash. A long stroke engine is inherently made for touring, and the cb has much more torque, and the same power from a much bigger engine means the cb doesn't even heat as much as the Apache. Additionally, the cb can easily cruise at 120 without feeling out of breath, I've seen videos of cb clocking 150! Would be good for once to have a review that isn't biased against the Honda. But for the price Ronin is brilliant.

Tvs took inspiration from the Trident 660 and it's not necessarily a bad thing. They could have gone for a scrambler format and it would have rocked. Sad to see the Zeppelin Cruiser won't make it to production though

Can the handlebars be lowered? I feel that can make a massive difference in terms of how the bike looks, especially the shoulder, it would look substantial and mildly muscular, thereby giving the bike more presence despite being small. Please clarify this query.

@@GGOMGBlog nah bro each bike has it's own merits and they all cater for different customers.. I can't speak for RE as I personally don't like RE and I have not ridden any it much but I can totally understand if one buys it for it's low speed relaxed cruising.. Riding is not always about performance and features, it's an emotion and therapy for many people.. same goes with Honda (cb350).. infact, I've ridden it extensively (my cousin got the DLX model) and trust me, it is heavenly.. I'm yet to test ride Ronin but I'm almost 100% sure that no bike can come close to Honda when it comes to refinement.. The dual suspensions are design choice (obviously for retro looks) but they do their job damn well.. btw, only because you've compared it, cb 350 is better engine than Ronin in every aspect.. you can peacefully cruise at any speed between 90-110 on highways on cb350 and still achieve 40+ mileage.. Ronin achieves 110 at uncomfortable high RPM plus vibrations.. Ronin cruises comfortably at 70-80 speeds, go any higher and I'm sure ride quality and mileage will be compromised..
If you don't compare though, CB350 and Ronin both are good in their own way..

Liked the potential of the platform this bike is built on. Hope to see all 3 pure versions emerge from this one.
For me personally, i find, this bike hard to be slotted into cruiser/ street racer/ scrambler bracket.
And I find that kinda interesting, coz it can fit into most of those slots without much trouble.
People have opinions that's it's got a confused look. But I'd say, it's got the design part well blended, and is kinda unique that way. Well done TVS. And well priced too.
Just better brakes and would have totally nailed it. But it's still solid enough to lead the market till the competition catches up with new launches.
👍 It's a definite thumbs up from me. Well done TVS.
Hope you bring in the other versions of Ronin down the line.
