I use 3 wheel skates, because they looked cool and professional. I have been skating for 11 years now which is the main reason why I switched, I wanted to try something new. What I love is that you don’t easily trip over small rocks or sticks that are on the road. It is definitely harder to keep your balance at first, but it’s something you need to get used to.
@@fevinpascalrebal1307 There are many different brands and designs. It’s important to also look for skates that match what you’re looking for in skates. But Powerslide is a good brand to look in to.
I came from ice hockey skates. My first reaction to 4 wheel inline skating is that I felt like I was on rails...Switched to 3 wheels (3x90), much closer to ice especially once you develop a rocker. I can switch from ice/roller no problem. Love it.
figure skater here! I have always avoided my inline skates because they just felt too... sticky! thanks for the comment. I will go ahead and try 3 wheels now!
Thanks for this! I've rollerbladed my whole life, but I felt more "free" the few times I went ice skating. now I understand why! going to buy 3 wheels and try it out now!
I used to use 4x80 but recently I decided to try 3x110 and I really loved em. There are things that I can't do as easy as in 4x80 such as the powerstop or powerslide but it's a matter of practice. I found 3x110 more comfortable.
i am thinking of skating again after 20 years because now my kids have just started skating, your videos are helping me a lot with my old passion. Thanks from Pakistan
For me 3x125 are the best setup... for Urban I think it works best because you can pass through the holes in the street and small stones in a easiest way than with small wheels setup...
Another potential disadvantage which I don't think was mentioned is slower and tougher starts and stops. If you have strong legs and good technique this may be trivial but for a beginner, it can be a problem.
you mean the acceleration,. it's true if using big big wheels...but that can be reduced by having a shorter wheelbase. as an example the Powerslide urban team skater Sam Crofts, loves to skate 3x100 to be able to move and stop really quick:)
Just switched to three wheels recently. It's harder to maneuver and takes a fraction longer to brake. But overall, I'm still very glad I switched coz it takes lesser effort to just glide and can travel farther.
I have 4x80 or 3x125 setups. I learnt on 4x80 so this is still my preferred setup. However 3x125 is growing on me especially for maintaining speed and rolling the rough stuff.
Infinity Ripper it always depends on what's your goal with the skates in my opinion. Also size of your feet may make the whole setup feel different... like 4x90 fir some is almost the same as 4x110 for others...
Switched from 4x90 to 3x125 recently... Next megacrusers are not as sweet as I expected (mainly boot issues) but manouverability of the short frame is just great. If I want to stop, i go for powerstop which is much easier (the middle pivot) now even though I skated the 4x90 for almost 10 years. After a month even did some micro-slides. Most of all now I'd love to try UFS ground control frames 3x125 with my old boots (RB fusion, pity these are not made any more), they are just sooo supportive and comfy...
Pol Pot I'm 176 cm tall, size of the nexts is 44-45 if they were 43-44, it might have been better for me. Wheel size-wise I don't feel bad or insecure standing on 3x125 from the first time. Funny thing is that the 125 wheels are a bit bit more resistant to changes of velocity. Meaning that to start moving (or speed up) you have to push a little harder, but when they actually start spinning, the speed you get for the same effort compared to 4x90 (new bearings) is quite higher. Longer trips at speed call for some anticipation - reaching uphill means you need to stride more in advance. Otherwise it gets tough to regain the speed after skates start to slow down. The ability of 125 to cross uneven surface is great (like
I wish I could try the 3 wheels just to see what you all are talking about. I only really skate park to cross train skiing but being all raised off the ground and going fast sounds kinda fun
I love both versions honestly, just depends on what you want to do and what your priority is. A shorter wheelbase is more unstable but you have more agility. You need a better boot, but that is not a disadvantage at all because a more stable boot will help you make better movements. If you are taller on your wheels you also learn to balance better. For me, the 3x 110 free skates with a short wheel base are perfect because they have the agility of roller skates and the speed of inline skates.
I prefer 4x100/90/84 rockered, prolly would love 4x110 with trinity. I hate 3 wheel skates, but a lot of people skate really well in them, it all depends on the style of the skater in my opinion. I enjoy watching both skates in action, prefer to ride 4 wheels though.
@@shade0636 I'd say because of the missing rocker he might think so. Rockered 4 wheelers are extremely agile and still more stable due to a longer wheelbase
How many of these disadvantages are the result of being used to 4 wheels when transitioning to 3? Do you think it would be easier to learn on 3 then to first learn on 4 or is there any advantage to doing that if your ultimate goal is urban street skating? I'm a quad skater wanting to transition to blades so I can skate in rougher areas. I want whatever is best for the typical cracks and debris in urban areas.
Well, you know I skate seba fr1's, both 4x80mm and 3x110, also a rockered 76/80/80/76 mm, and I love them all, I honestly could not say I have a favourite. One day, it's my tri-skate, the next, it's my flat four wheel setup, or the rocker. I'm also looking at buying a 4x100 Wizard skate somewhere in the near future. My favourite? Having options, because every day is a new day 😉 Nice video Lino, as always 👍
I think I want to try rockering a 90mm simbrakes in a 4x setup. Why ? I like the brakes but they don't come in a larger size so 90/100 in some kind of configuration.
I'm sold on the seba fr1 3x110, but also want to get into slalom! I can see why variety is necessary. Would you recommend your rockered setup for beginning slalom?
haha. no losers here :) it happens to all of us..and yes its. a bit harder for downstairs but better for so many other things..and the feeling.. the feeling in my opinions it's just better.smooother..
I found all these disadvantages on my own recently after receiving my first triskates, and I never owned four wheels skates since I was a kid, i agree with you about this entirely, and feel so stumped wishing that I purchased four wheels like the ones you show.
I think that this disadvantages are all overcome by the many triskates advantages... Since I moved from 4x80 to 3x110 I feel like I can't go back to a short base with tiny and slow 80 wheels. 3x110 and a supportive hard boot is the perfect setup for me. (Like RB Twister Edge 3WD that I'm using nowadays)
I'm riding on Macroblade 84abt and 90's, how was getting use to the height difference? And was it hard or to easy to adjust? Im looking at the Macroblade 3x110s.
Hard to say, I've been using Rollerblade Twisters for almost 15 years, I put 4x80mm wheels and bones 6 ball bearings and speed cream a few years ago and these things fly. So when I got the Powerglide Phuzion 110 last week with ABEC 9 bearings with grease I was a bit disappointed as I was hoping for a faster skating experience than my old ones. So I cleaned the bearings and put the same speed cream in there and now they're about the same. Whatever grease they're putting in those bearings is too thick.
Absolutely. All the people on 26" mountain bike wheels it took me forever to convince them that 27.5 and even 29er wheels run much faster and safer. But now almost all are on 27.5/29 wheels....but like I said it took almost 20 years. LOL.
Renato, forget 3x110, (you probably already have), 3x125 for long distance. Try running a ~320mm Magnesium (very important) 3 point mount trinity frame with 3x125. But be careful, they are much faster than 3x110. (I made the mistake of listening to people who said really 4x110 in not much different than 3x125....). Minor mistake, the speed got away from me a couple of times on my first skate at 125mm. Really hilly ? may opt for 3x110 at 320mm mag just because safer. But for slightly hilly open roads. :) :) :) :) 125mm ! everytime.
My first real skates were Rollerblade around 1999 or 2000 and they were probably some of the first 3 wheel skates. They had regular sized wheels and the style came as 4 wheels as well, but that's what I learned with. People were always surprised when they noticed only 3 wheels. I finally when looking for new skates last summer for the first time in like 15 years and seeing that 3 wheel skates are actually a thing was so cool! Especially with larger wheels! There's so much more to skating now. I really hope to get some off road skates sometime so I can live out my old dreams and imagination of doing grabs and spins going down mountain trails I hike. Haha :)
I've started skating in 2020 during the pandemic. I was 40 years old. My first Inline Skates is the Rollerblade Cruiser 4x80. Then this year, I've bought a Powerslide Zoom Pro 3x100. I loved the triskates stuff, the 3x100 is very very comfortable. But it is slower than the 4x80 cruiser. I believe the Hurricane wheels are the problem. I'm going for my third triskates this year, a rollerblade Cruiser 3x110. I'll let you know. So far I have no problems with the transition from 4 to 4 wheels.
ehem.... Mr. Ricardo L. 125 x 3 - min 255 cm center distance . 4x80 usually 243 mm - difference of 12mm in maneuverability is a big difference. That's why the best of 2 WORLDS is 243 frame center length and 3x110mm setup wheels, also preferably trinity system.
I just ordered my first 3x110 swell skate. Skating now for 25 years (agressive, marathon, slalom, mostly all of it) and I will take special care when it comes to climbing up stairs 😉 And I am very curious about stability, agility and traction. I will see. Now I am a bit prepared for what to expect. Thanks for this informative video and your entertaining style 👌🏼
Dalila. Te sugiero que veas el modelo que te gusta y averigües con el fabricante. Algunos modelos lo traen instalados, otros traen el freno en la caja y con el perno y la llave para que tú lo instales y otros definitivamente no lo traen. Depende de la marca.
the 3x110 definitely felt unstable at first even with 255 mm wheelbase but when I got used to it, I can't tell the difference from 4x80 (accelerating, tight turns at and beyond limit of grip and even braking).
I started 7 years ago with 4*80 wheels rockered placed . Now I bought 3 * 110 wheels, they go very fast, you can make turns with them and you don't notice all the small bumps on the bike path. Now I alternately use the 4*80 rockered to make figures like figure skating on ice. And alternately use the 3*110 for speed and as a good taining and to make some distance . So they both have their pros and cons It is all about what you want to do with the type of scate. The stops with the three scate can be a problem for the beginner.
Each to their own. Just depends what your purpose is. Myself, I’m just a cruiser so 3 x 110 suits me . I’m not a jumper or slider. A comfortable way to travel without too much effort-I’m old 😂
I use Seba FR1 with Powerslide 3x110 frame (243 mm), and I think it's the best for me now. I used the default frame (seba 4x80mm, 246 mm) before. 110 wheels have longer life than 80mm wheels. Now my wish is to buy boot with trynity system and 3x110 frame.
My issue is which skate to choose living in a town with terrible country streets, covered in stones and holes and grass? I have always used the 80mm but I wonder if the 100mm would work better...
I live in the inner city and went from 80 to 90 to 100 on four wheels. 100 will feel more comfortable but be aware of the speed. I am fairly lightweight and short for a male. 170cm and around 60kg When I went from 90 to 100, i felt more comfortable in terms of uneven terrain and it was difficult to accelerate but once I got going, I went SO fast. Overtaking mopeds and scooters with ease and I was really glad to have the stability of a long frame.
pretty much just now starting out on a 3x125 setup and while i was looking around i saw that people dont usually recommend 3x110 to beginners, and i never even heard mention of a 3x125, which discouraged me, but watching this video i realized that most of the issues don't apply to me, and the only thing i'll have a problem with is balance, but at the same time starting out on skates that are notoriously hard to balance on will give me an advantage if i swap to more stable skates in the future
I love 4*90 under my size 44 boots.. I personally believe it to be the most multipurpose for my foot size. Whether I'm going downstairs, freeriding or slalom too, it's so much fun.
With a 3-wheel versus 4-wheel setup, it's not actually obvious which will wear down faster. The wheels are usually much larger in 3WD - the perimeter of 80mm is only half that of the perimeter of 110mm wheels. So while each 3WD wheel is taking more bodyweight, there is much more wheel material to be worn down. I would bet a 3WD setup would last longer, all else being equal.
My powerslide Argons are 3*100 and I prefer them to my k2 4*90. You get a better glute workout and feel nothing underneath that being said powerslide boots are superior to any boot I've tried and it's like wearing sneakers with wheels. Jump landing are smooth and my mobility is better in 3
just got K2 4x90 Boa. Lacing is fantastic The Trail I skate is flat and straight pavement. Not really trick skating or aggressive. Want a skate with speed to cruise. Thinking 3 wheels Will be next Skate? Hoping for more speed to ride? Suggestions?
So ive never skated before but i just ordered my first pair or 3 wheel inlines so i can super zoom at night with my dog on these beautiful summer nights. Hopefully they work for me because they're almost $300 😅
Whats my favorite? So far 4x100 on an Endless trinity 100/110 frame. Ive also tried 3x110 on a 248mm frame but ive got pretty big feet (46 european) and wanted more stability.
Back in like the early 90s I had some real nice speed skates. No I want to get back into it, and I’m completely torn with all the new options. The only way I’m gonna know which will be the best pair for me will be to simply try them. I just don’t know if the skate stores allow you to try them out before you buy them. I guess I’ll find out soon enough.
I just upgraded to a 3 wheel powerslide and I absolutely hate them. They are heavy as hell making crossovers etc harder, they weigh a ton, and being so high up , I dislike. I don’t know how I read so many great reviews. Love your vids !
Used to skate aggressive inline myself (Salomon St80 with anti rocker wheels) back about 17 years ago. Decided to get back into just casual skating. So i've picked up Swell 3x110. First time i've been on skates in 17 years. Didn't notice any stability issues, other than my own balance that is. Definitely glide over rougher roads easier than my old 58mm wheels that's for sure. 1 thing I would say is they are fast! Even a small downhill they build up so much speed so it's definitely a learning curve keeping the speed down.
In a perfect world with smooth streets, I would roll my slalom rockered frame 80mm set up everywhere for urban skating. Otherwise I love natural rocker formed from my Metroblade 3wd 110mm or my 80mm flat twisters
@@edixasanchezpacheco3692 I think what he is saying is, if streets were smooth, he would keep using his full rockered slalom skates (using smaller wheels at the front and back and 2 bigger ones in the middle) which offers more manoeuvrability, but since it's not the case(street are not smooth), he switched to triskates I guess, because bigger wheels help with non-smooth surfaces. He also says he likes his natural rockered skates (rockered by wheels geeting smaller du to natural wear, not by using smaller wheels). I'm kinda new to skating, so I might be wrong.
5X84mm is life. :D I agree, of the common available setups, there is no better or worse, just different setups for different styles. I've skated 4x80, 5x80, 5x84, 5x90, 4x90, 4x90 with 84mm wheels, 3x125 SUV offroad. 5x80 is sort of useless, but the rest have their purpose, just as 3x100/110/125/150 SUV do.
If you're an experienced skater like me. Speed is what matters and 110mm wheels seem to give you just that. That's just my say and tri skates do look pretty sick. Just skate on em!!
What is the highest 4 wheel frame you skated on? I'm used to my 4×100 mm frame and I think I'll lose speed on 3×110 . 3×125 seems a bit rediculous to me. A lot of people say that there is no difference between 4×80 and 3×110 in terms of speed. But 4×80 is too slow for my taste. What have you noticed in terms of speed when you went from 4 to 3 wheels?
@@GullibleTarget I just changed today from a 4 wheels set up (3x100 + 1x90) which is lower and slightly shorted than my previous set up of 4x110 (I broke the frame, so had to change) to a 3x125mm set up with a racing boot with hardly any ankle support. I go on a totally flat route along a canal on a smooth path for about 40 km. I've done this many many times. With the 3x100 + 1x90 I can keep up with a average guy peddling hard on a mountain bike. With the 4x110m I can keep up with a fit guy peddling hard on a mountain bike. With the 3x125 mm I can keep up with an average guy peddling hard on a very good racing bike and I can accelerate much faster because my legs are effectively longer so that I have a greater stroke length. I still cannot catch the fit guys on racing bikes, but if I catch up to an average guy they cannot shake me off because I can simply tuck into their slip stream. Fit guys on racing bike can still get away from me. So I see a definite different between the wheels sizes - I must add though that I got a slightly harder wheel for the 125 mm which might make a bit of a difference. An interesting fact that you might not be aware of. A women named Annie Lambrecht (Belgian) still holds the world record for inline skating for 20 km, 30 km, and 50 km with an average speed of around 40 km/h all the way. She also did a marathon in about 1 hour and 9 minutes during her 50 km record run. The amazing thing about this is that the record was set in 1985. Yes 36 years ago. Just image how fast she would have gone with modern skates and training.
I have 3x110 metropolis supercruiser, those are so good, I was aggressive skater so I can do some locks on miniramp rail between heel wheels easily, my feet is damn wide and its size 46-47, at first I was coming from 4x80 and was a bit disapointed, maybe it was the boot that I was adopting, caused much flex because my legs are very thin so ankle got much stress.. but the issue was the bearings, they needed some extra lubrication.. Now it rolls longer and stable no extra moves no flex points.. The frame is 255mm and wheel is much bigger it feels different in skate park, but my long feet controls them easily, now I wonder why wizard frame is recommended on your feet size, One day I will buy them 4x110mm... Overall triskates are amazing, the right boot is most important factor here, but I hate powerslide softboots on triskate frames, I think its really dangerous for beginners, its tend to flex a lot more. Pricier boot doesnt mean better boot for your feet shape :)
Ok Ricardo and EVERYONE, so me and my kids are gonna try in-line skating and we’re swapping from quads to unlines so what configuration of boots and wheels are we best to go for ?? Seba, Powerslide ,Rollerblade??? On and on your thoughts?? Btw it’s UK roads with pot holes, cracks stones and I would say we’re urban/fitness skaters.
How about those used to aggressive inline skates, i have USD's with 4x58mm wheels and a space inbetween 2 wheels. Will 3 wheels skates be too hard to get used to?
I have a question, since Im not a very good skater does that mean I should avoid 3 wheel skate until I become better on 4 wheels? Stability is very important for me right now.
It's been a while. But the point is 'feeling'. The more you skate, the more your body will get accustomed to movement. If you start out on a tri skate, you will not know what a 4skate will feel like. It will probably take more time to learn how to stabilize on three wheels than four. However, once you do get comfortable with them, it will be easier to upgrade to bigger wheels as you get better and better. And these days; everything seems to be about tri-skates. It all depends on what kind of a skater you want to be. If you get addicted to it like I got; start with low tri-skates. If you're going to be a casual, once in a week-type of skater; start with 4 wheels on 74 or 80s. I started on 4 wheels and went all the way up to 100 and it's my main mode of transport!but it seems that I have to upgrade to tri skates on 125mm to maintain the same speed. It will be a huge transition because I have always skated on four wheels. Seeing that tri-skates are here to stay: it would maybe be wise to just learn to skate on them from the beginning.
I feel much more stable on three wheels and I got 125. Maybe it's because there's now space in between my wheels than in my four wheel set up, would that be the reason?
Steadily becoming my favorite youtube channel, keep it up! So much motivation in every video. Definitely helps to keep me on my skates. btw maybe you could make a video for learning a cess slide?
Thanks, now I know I want to start with 4 wheels. Now I just have to figure out which brand/series to buy 🙃 There's so much info about quads, but I'm having trouble finding out about good beginner brands for inlines, so I've been putting it off for months.
Actually it doesn't matter too much which brand you take as long as it is a well known one and has a comfortable boot - with a little more space than you need. The main point is to get skating and have fun. I started way back in the 1990's with heavy old plastic boots - I even raced a marathon in them, since then I've owned about four sets of skates (they last a long time) and I must have done about 5000 km so far. You should just start skating and soon enough you'll figure out what your second set of skates should be like. Good luck.
I know this comment is old, but buy some zetrablades for starters, with your normal shoe size. If you want to buy better skates, buy some missions or bauer hockey skates, and they size down 1.5 sizes from your normal shoe size.
Regarding @2:39 "In general, you will feel that the 3-wheel skates will be a lot more unstable than the 4-wheel skates with a longer wheel base" BUT what if you have a pair of 3-wheel skates with a LONGER wheel-base/frame than the 4-wheel - in that case are the 3-wheel STILL more unstable? Thanks!!
Yes. Shorter wheel base and taller frame make it nore unstable. Also one less point of contact will make you feel the ground less . Even if the pase is the same length. 3 wheeler in general lighter, even if there's usually big wheels but then less bearings...
@@balwa999 speed is also a factor of wheel diameter. So ASSUMING that 4WD has SHORTER wheels, and 3WD has LONGER wheels, 4WD starts out faster. Only after reaching a certain speed, 3WD is faster, and easier to maintain.
@@RicardoLino That is not exactly the truth Ricardo. The PS Next 110 with Spinner wheels size 42-43 weights 1780g and the Next 80 with Spinner wheels size 42-43 weights 1550g. Even the Next 4x90 with Spinner wheels size 42-43 weights 1750g which is also less than the Next 3x110. Btw two bearing weight only 2x11g=22g and a axle 8g. The Next 100 with Spinner wheels size 42-43 weights 1650g which is also more than the 4x80 Next.
Obrigado - a really good discussion with lots of important and valid points. For me, in my city, with its lousy surfaces, 100mm+ wheels make all the difference. Triskates for me, by necessity.
hc evo 2.0 with 3x125 when i'm out running with the bikes; hc evo pro with 3x100 when i know there's a lot of traffic/city skating. in the rain i go with my seba trix2 boots with 4x84
I started with a 4 wheel when I first started and after not doing it for years my fiance surprised me with the 3 wheeled. I'm thinking maybe I should go back to the 4 wheels a bit because I'm having a difficult time with my 3 wheeled skates. Hopefully everything works out
Been using fitness soft boot inline skates K2 4x80mm frame 260mm for recreation for a couple of years. Recently I've bought brand new FR3 3x110mm frame 232mm. Getting used to them. I've found main differences: far better rolling on different surfaces on 3x110mm and that's the reason why I bought them. After fitness skates I find FR extremely stiff, maybe because they're still new, hope they'll become more flexible with time, now I'm getting used to it) Then on new 232mm frame I pay more attention to my stance, a little bit leaning forward, otherwise it's quite easy to fall on the back, on fitness skates I don't even remember to pay much attention to this. So in a nutshell I still have to learn to skate better on 3x110mm. But I'm very happy that I bought them and this is the size of the wheels I looked for.
I'll add to my previous comment, might be interesting: when choosing the brand of the boot in the shop, I felt also comfortable in the new Rollerblades Twister 3x110mm. I liked them a lot, you feel the high quality when you touch them and in every detail. But they costed 30% more then FR3. Also I tried the new Powerslide Next 3x110. I liked them also a lot - very good quality product. Unfortunately they seemed to be narrow for my heels and I felt pain right away after putting them on..
I skated on a 3 wheel Rollerblade model in the early 90s. I didn't find that big a difference. I just picked up some 3 wheel speed skates and hopefully they won't be that difficult now that I am 30 years older.
The space in between the wheels is bigger, but a bigger wheel rolls over imperfections on the ground easier. The bicycle industry took forever to adopt the concept but a 29" wheel is the best. Interesting to see how it works differently on inline skates
Hold up there are people out here just rolling down stairs and not walking down sideways? How on earth do you stop. Genuine question. Do you use the rail or something?
Who in the world goes up stairs with step between their wheels? I go up and down stairs quite well for a fruit-booter, but I go up them the same as walking just with my toes turned out lol
I got some Powerslide Next 110s a few years ago and just upgraded the frames for 125mm. Tri skates are so much more fun than traditional skates. They are way way faster, easier to turn on. I will never return to 4 wheel skates
sounds a bit familiar... bought a 2nd pair of skates 'cause I thought they don't fit my feet... but now it seems I wouldn't give my old body enough rest to cure the stress on my ankle... why you thinks yours hate you?
I ordered a pair of Zoom 100 Black. I figured having skateboarded/snowboarded in past I'll be able to work with 100s as a beginner. ? I'm looking for a more fun alternative to running. heh
From Brazil: Comecei a andar com o meu Razors 3x125mm e gostei muito da velocidade, senti um pouco a instabilidade no começo, mas já me acostumei, como é bom patinar com velocidade! :)
@wenzenlao2283 125mm are no recommended to beginners, choose a model you can change the frame and put bigger set-up is the best way to go, Check Gawds Aton Urban
Thanks. I just started skating after 3 kids lol. I was going to try 3 wheels but I decided to do 4 until I can try one on. With everything closed is hard to buy a skate online.
4X80 with Trinity mount is the clear winner for me. I also skate 3 X 110 and 3 x 90 but none beat the 4 x 80! 4x80 Trinity is more agile, more maneuvrable, can give you that "barefoot" feeling like none. For marathons my option would be that 3 x 125, for hill bombing 5 x 90.
I started in 4x90, then gone to 2x100+1x95+1x100 and they run very good, can get very fast with then, although when I have some cash I want to upgrade to some 3x125 cruisers
I have the black swell 125 trinity triskates. I really like them.. I agree with the four wheel skates seems more practical. And I immediately thought while trying the triskates for the first time that I wish I had purchased four wheels instead.. But I also love the speed I get. Its gotta be way faster than four wheels. It just seems four wheels are much more practical. Going down a steep slope on the tall triskates take my breath, its terrifying. I completely agree with the stair issues. I generally like both but I actually feel like their has to be a better median design.. With a little bit of both best aspects..
I'm on 4×100 and its all about the speed for me. My issue is that my blade technique is close to my technique on ice and I feel that to have the same speed, i'd need 3×125 but the technique seems so different. More of pushing action instead of a 'falling' from side-to-side. I'm obsessed and I would hate to buy something I'll regret😂
Why? For manouverabilty or speed? I'm a distance skater on 4x100mm and I'm looking for the same speeds on tri-skates. But it seems that 3x110 is slower?
I think for everyday skating as long there's steep hills for me to go down I will ride a 4x90 skate but If I wanted to do long distance skating like on a bike trail by the beach I would go 3x110. I'm not a marathon skater so I don't need the 3x125.
In terms of wheel life a larger wheel has more material to wear down and will spin slower at same speed and wear lower also so having an extra small wheel will NOT make equal up to the material of 3 wheels
There's a use for every setup... I don't believe in one pair perfect for everything.. theres might be fine skates easier to adapt to diferent situations. But even the is diferent from skater to skater 👌🏻😎
Hello all hope everyone is in good health and doing well I purchased those Kazi power slides no matter what I do The boot narrow for my foot I think they would be considered a hybrid but not too sure any ideas on how I can stretch it out or make it so it’s comfortable for me to use
Im pretty good with 4 wheels i really want tru skates though because i can turn better and go faster and ignore the rough ground unlike my 4 wheel inlines
What bothers me most with tri skates is that there’s less variations of being able to rocker. Banana or hi-Lo rockers are very awkward especially since the jumps in sizes wheels are offered is much larger than in smaller wheels. Trying to rocker tri skates between 110 and 100mm for example feels way more extreme than 80mm with 76mm skates.. and then of course if you’re going to try a standard rocker you’re basically trying to skate on one wheel haha! And as much as I live tri skates for longer distance skating, I really miss the tight turns in crowded areas of a rockered skate...
Question for you, I recently switched to 3x110, I put a powerslide pleasure tool v2 frame on a pair of Seba Fr deluxe. There’s a bigger gap between the first wheel and the 2 back wheels; what’s the advantage/disadvantage compared to an equal gap between all 3 wheels ?
I really want to test triskates, but i am not convinced that i will like them... i have a feeling it might be a passing trend. And because they are trending right now they are expensive and hard to get a really good discount to risk buying.
MrMaia Motovlog I don't really think it's a trend that comes a goes. When you have a guy breaking the marathon record in 5 minutes and winning two marathons in one weekend on triskates and saying that his wouldn't be possible with 4x110. Theres no way back. For urban skating I don't say it's better or worst. Its different with its pros and cons. I love it and respect who hates it too, One thing I love is because the skates look different brings people interest back. That we needed that stir in the pot
I recently started skating on 3 wheels. The big wheels make a huge difference - you can travel farther and faster with the same energy. Because of the 3 wheels (vs 4) they are very agile. I use them for urban skating, I started practicing in a miniramp and a skatepark - I still need to get used to the extra height and dropping in is different because of the 3 wheel base. But I also do plain 'long distance tours'. I recommend trying them!
I currently only have the skill to do simple skating forward, no special tricks, no skating backwards, etc. I know the three wheels are supposed to be faster but I just think they look ugly, haha.
No comments lol and he wrote so must 😂😊
Bruh i put that emogi as a accident
It was supposed to be 😂
Bro, which is the best 3 wheel or 4 wheel?
@@fevinpascalrebal1307 There are many different brands and designs. It’s important to also look for skates that match what you’re looking for in skates. But Powerslide is a good brand to look in to.
I came from ice hockey skates. My first reaction to 4 wheel inline skating is that I felt like I was on rails...Switched to 3 wheels (3x90), much closer to ice especially once you develop a rocker. I can switch from ice/roller no problem. Love it.
This is what I was looking for, thanks!
figure skater here! I have always avoided my inline skates because they just felt too... sticky! thanks for the comment. I will go ahead and try 3 wheels now!
I play ice hockey. I’d love to try 3x 110 on a hockey boot. Going to try the reign ones. My fr1 flex too much compared to hockey boots.
I just bought a pair of 3x110
i am thinking of skating again after 20 years because now my kids have just started skating, your videos are helping me a lot with my old passion. Thanks from Pakistan
For me 3x125 are the best setup... for Urban I think it works best because you can pass through the holes in the street and small stones in a easiest way than with small wheels setup...
with you on this one for sure...specially cause the roads in Africa arent easy..
Then put something like a Powerslide torrent 125 on them which rolls like a high pressure pneumatic tire.
Maniability has to be hard on 3x125
what about 110 size?
wow I didn´t know about that, thanks for the heads up
After being off skates for 15 years, I recently bought some 3x100 skates and honestly it’s not much different to a 4x80 setup.
Which do you prefer more?
However 3x125 is growing on me especially for maintaining speed and rolling the rough stuff.
i like your videos!
I got some 3x110s, and I love them for urban skating. Accelerating is a bit slower but those bigger wheels really hold their speed much better.
I think 4x90 are the most balanced for speed, stability, and maneuverability without compromising very much.
Infinity Ripper it always depends on what's your goal with the skates in my opinion. Also size of your feet may make the whole setup feel different... like 4x90 fir some is almost the same as 4x110 for others...
Infinity Ripper I AGREE
Switched from 4x90 to 3x125 recently... Next megacrusers are not as sweet as I expected (mainly boot issues) but manouverability of the short frame is just great. If I want to stop, i go for powerstop which is much easier (the middle pivot) now even though I skated the 4x90 for almost 10 years. After a month even did some micro-slides. Most of all now I'd love to try UFS ground control frames 3x125 with my old boots (RB fusion, pity these are not made any more), they are just sooo supportive and comfy...
Pol Pot
I'm 176 cm tall, size of the nexts is 44-45 if they were 43-44, it might have been better for me.
The ability of 125 to cross uneven surface is great (like
Yup. I rock K2 4/90mm Xtrainers. 2007's in brand new condition $17 @ thrift store, 3 years ago...
What wheel base do you have on your 3x110?
@@calebbrininger7483 247 mm
243 for me. I once tried 270. It feels to clumsy to have such a long frame
Real talk!!!!
Why do you hate 3 wheel skates? Just curious.
Having options, because every day is a new day 😉
Nice video Lino, as always 👍
Exactly dude. Theres a setup better for almost every situation.. hehe
Hard to choose sometimes...
Can't wait to see you on the wizards too
beast
I think I want to try rockering a 90mm simbrakes in a 4x setup. Why ? I like the brakes but they don't come in a larger size so 90/100 in some kind of configuration.
Rockered is for sharp turns? My wheels get a rocker naturally if I ride them hard enough XD
I'm sold on the seba fr1 3x110, but also want to get into slalom! I can see why variety is necessary. Would you recommend your rockered setup for beginning slalom?
Yep. I just fell down yesterday while making backwards stairoll on 3*110. Too big spaces between wheels.
Not taking into account that I'm a clumsy loser..
haha. no losers here :) it happens to all of us..and yes its. a bit harder for downstairs but better for so many other things..and the feeling.. the feeling in my opinions it's just better.smooother..
@@RicardoLino yes, the flow is really amazing in them
I found all these disadvantages on my own recently after receiving my first triskates, and I never owned four wheels skates since I was a kid, i agree with you about this entirely, and feel so stumped wishing that I purchased four wheels like the ones you show.
Same with me :)
How is your impression on 3wd? Can u compare it with 4wd?
Any follow up??
i'd like to know the follow up as well, cause my usd skates broke and i'm considering switching to regular skates
Dalila. Te sugiero que veas el modelo que te gusta y averigües con el fabricante. Algunos modelos lo traen instalados, otros traen el freno en la caja y con el perno y la llave para que tú lo instales y otros definitivamente no lo traen. Depende de la marca.
Cesar Berdugo muchas gracias 😉
the 3x110 definitely felt unstable at first even with 255 mm wheelbase but when I got used to it, I can't tell the difference from 4x80 (accelerating, tight turns at and beyond limit of grip and even braking).
A comfortable way to travel without too much effort-I’m old 😂
Completely. I love triskates
Triskates can slide and jump too
I use Seba FR1 with Powerslide 3x110 frame (243 mm), and I think it's the best for me now. I used the default frame (seba 4x80mm, 246 mm) before. 110 wheels have longer life than 80mm wheels. Now my wish is to buy boot with trynity system and 3x110 frame.
How did you move on?
@@GullibleTarget wow thank you for your feedback.
pretty much just now starting out on a 3x125 setup and while i was looking around i saw that people dont usually recommend 3x110 to beginners, and i never even heard mention of a 3x125, which discouraged me, but watching this video i realized that most of the issues don't apply to me, and the only thing i'll have a problem with is balance, but at the same time starting out on skates that are notoriously hard to balance on will give me an advantage if i swap to more stable skates in the future

Ive also tried 3x110 on a 248mm frame but ive got pretty big feet (46 european) and wanted more stability.
sounds like we need to buy both, 4 and 3 wheel skates !
sounds like i need 5 of each
Back in like the early 90s I had some real nice speed skates.
Also, given a 4 wheel setup and a 3 wheel setup with the same wheels (let's say 80mm) which one has the more grip? 4 wheels setup right?
“I’m allowed to use 3x125...it’s what all the winners use..” 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Caught that too lolol
Can someone explain all the language you are using here. In my time things were very simple
Very good video Lino as usual! Keep it up! Cheers from Argentina
tomnikond600 muchas muchas gracias ! Um abrazo de sud Africa a Argentina
Amen Bro.
What about the wheel itself? I hear that 4wheel setups are usually harder(like hard plastic) compared to 3 wheels that are like rubber(?)
Is the Powerslide NEXT a good boot on your opinion or do I need a carbon boot to really get the most out of a triskate setup
How about those used to aggressive inline skates, i have USD's with 4x58mm wheels and a space inbetween 2 wheels. Will 3 wheels skates be too hard to get used to?
this video was made before trinity frame from powerslide for sure, im using a 125 wheel and is super stable with this frames
So instability issues could be addressed with smaller wheels right? Like a 3x90 setup?
I feel much more stable on three wheels and I got 125. Maybe it's because there's now space in between my wheels than in my four wheel set up, would that be the reason?
Thanks.
I was trying to decided on which I wanted.
So what do you decide
Steadily becoming my favorite youtube channel, keep it up! So much motivation in every video. Definitely helps to keep me on my skates. btw maybe you could make a video for learning a cess slide?
thank you SO SO SOOOO MUCH
i plan on making a parallel slide 2018 video soon :)
@@RicardoLino - thanks - but what I'm asking is "what is the result if the 3-wheel base/frame is longer than the 4-wheel"?
Which one is faster overall in a straight line tri or 4?
Triskates for me, by necessity.
im on your side too..african roads are rough....
How about softer compound four wheels? 80A for example?
Love the Vid very informative 3 years later much love earn a Like
My fav to Urban is 4x80mm. Jump, play arround and have good grip.
hc evo 2.0 with 3x125 when i'm out running with the bikes; hc evo pro with 3x100 when i know there's a lot of traffic/city skating. in the rain i go with my seba trix2 boots with 4x84
I started with a 4 wheel when I first started and after not doing it for years my fiance surprised me with the 3 wheeled. I'm thinking maybe I should go back to the 4 wheels a bit because I'm having a difficult time with my 3 wheeled skates. Hopefully everything works out
How did it go?
@@KrystofKlestil1337 it’s still difficult but I think I’m getting the hang of them
Been using fitness soft boot inline skates K2 4x80mm frame 260mm for recreation for a couple of years.
29 wheer is not the best. It take much more space. For me 27.5 would be perfect.
3x 110: I use for trail/distance.
4x80: I use around downtown/city skating.
Which is better for rough roads
I got some Powerslide Next 110s a few years ago and just upgraded the frames for 125mm. Tri skates are so much more fun than traditional skates. They are way way faster, easier to turn on. I will never return to 4 wheel skates
I love having 3 by 125
My favorite skates are the ones i just bought. They are also my first skates. I love them, and they hate me :(
sounds a bit familiar... bought a 2nd pair of skates 'cause I thought they don't fit my feet... but now it seems I wouldn't give my old body enough rest to cure the stress on my ankle... why you thinks yours hate you?
I ordered a pair of Zoom 100 Black. I figured having skateboarded/snowboarded in past I'll be able to work with 100s as a beginner. ? I'm looking for a more fun alternative to running. heh
From Brazil:
Comecei a andar com o meu Razors 3x125mm e gostei muito da velocidade, senti um pouco a instabilidade no começo, mas já me acostumei, como é bom patinar com velocidade! :)
@wenzenlao2283они очень тяжёлые и громоздкие
With everything closed is hard to buy a skate online.
wheeladdict.shop for Lino's shop
locoskates.com as well
What's the brand of the white 3 wheels skates, it's really beautiful
4X80 with Trinity mount is the clear winner for me. I also skate 3 X 110 and 3 x 90 but none beat the 4 x 80! 4x80 Trinity is more agile, more maneuvrable, can give you that "barefoot" feeling like none.
For marathons my option would be that 3 x 125, for hill bombing 5 x 90.
Thanks. Which model do you recommend for the 4x80 trinity?
@@22ryanoc Powerslide next 4x80 or, if you're a taller guy, Powerslide Next 4x90.
I started in 4x90, then gone to 2x100+1x95+1x100 and they run very good, can get very fast with then, although when I have some cash I want to upgrade to some 3x125 cruisers
Thank you man! You said everything I needed to hear
Remove middle wheel from 3x125 , and enjoy more of skating. Cheers from Mick in Adelaide .
Why? For manouverabilty or speed? I'm a distance skater on 4x100mm and I'm looking for the same speeds on tri-skates. But it seems that 3x110 is slower?
I used to be a big fan of 3 wheels but then having gone back to 4 i found tight turning so much more stable
So? Is it easier to go downstairs with smaller wheels or not?
I either skate Kizer Trimax with 100 wheels and Seba Sx boot or....Wizard 4x90...hard choice...
There's a use for every setup... I don't believe in one pair perfect for everything.. theres might be fine skates easier to adapt to diferent situations. But even the is diferent from skater to skater 👌🏻😎
What if you put regular size wheels on the triskate?
You'll be on a watchlist, somewhere.
Just purchased my first triskates.
They're the Powerslide Trinity Phuzion Krypton's 3x100mm.
Can't wait to start breaking them.
Santos Marquez how are they so far? What style do you ride
It's funny how people on youtube announce they're going to buy or try something but never say if it was any good
Hello all hope everyone is in good health and doing well I purchased those Kazi power slides no matter what I do The boot narrow for my foot I think they would be considered a hybrid but not too sure any ideas on how I can stretch it out or make it so it’s comfortable for me to use
Im pretty good with 4 wheels i really want tru skates though because i can turn better and go faster and ignore the rough ground unlike my 4 wheel inlines
what is better for jumping around 4x80 or 3x90 ?
What bothers me most with tri skates is that there’s less variations of being able to rocker. Banana or hi-Lo rockers are very awkward especially since the jumps in sizes wheels are offered is much larger than in smaller wheels. Trying to rocker tri skates between 110 and 100mm for example feels way more extreme than 80mm with 76mm skates.. and then of course if you’re going to try a standard rocker you’re basically trying to skate on one wheel haha! And as much as I live tri skates for longer distance skating, I really miss the tight turns in crowded areas of a rockered skate...
You didn't mentioned the bigger pressure on your joints and less comfortable ride on not so perfect surfaces because of the less contact points.
Well.... im a pro skater in israel and i want to try triskates ... is that gonna be a good idea to start first time with3× 110 ?
Hey Ricardo :D which is best for slalom 3 or 4 wheels setup in your opinion?
I really want to test triskates, but i am not convinced that i will like them... i have a feeling it might be a passing trend. And because they are trending right now they are expensive and hard to get a really good discount to risk buying.
MrMaia Motovlog I don't really think it's a trend that comes a goes. When you have a guy breaking the marathon record in 5 minutes and winning two marathons in one weekend on triskates and saying that his wouldn't be possible with 4x110. Theres no way back. For urban skating I don't say it's better or worst. Its different with its pros and cons. I love it and respect who hates it too,
One thing I love is because the skates look different brings people interest back.
