They NEED to get on with this. It's been too long already.

Having a very public search like this is undermining preparations for Copa.
    EITHER
Thank Biello for his services and announce a replacement immediately
    OR
Come out and declare Biello is the interim for Copa, so every player knows the tactics being set now are what we are going with.

A decision needs to be made in the next 2 weeks. I believe the the team deserves a coach with international experience at or above Canada's level (FIFA ranking 50 or greater). But if that is not going to happen then name Smyrniotis and let him take us into these incredibly important friendlies and the Copa America so that he can learn from it and be ready and capable of taking us to '26. But my goodness, we've gotta get on with it. Biello should not be at the helm for these incredibly important matches.

Just hire on merit and not politics. Id love either of those options but to be honest i think theyre needed most in the cpl. As much as i love the league im not convinced of its survival and afraid that removing either one of those guys might dilute an already fragile league

France is not likely to field a first string team against Canada. Likely 3rd string with a couple of 2nd.

I’m so sorry but the best manager of Canada was never at championship level (John Herdman). Mauro Biello has managed Montreal and had a very good record when he was interim at Montreal. Cpl is still a few levels below mls and the managers from there are unproven at high level. Frank lampard did well at Darby which is a higher managerial level than mls and did good in his first season at chelsea which is a premier league giant. We have no right to call that level of manager (Thierry Henry included) bad and unfit for the program when our main rival to him is cpl managers respectively to Smyrniotis, and Wheeldon Jr who are good options.

STOP THE MADNESS with the agenda of a CAN CPL Manager should be promoted to MNGR of CANMNT. The fact is that Canada has missed out on a golden generation, we haven’t capitalized, and we have been awarded a World Cup which will not happen for at least another 30 yrs, as well as a Gold Cup.
The primary job description of a CANMNT MGR is to develop Canadian talent, put the team in the best position to win against opponents, and to recruit players to be part of the National team. @plattoli said “Canada needs a manager that knows and understands the Canadian system”& “it’s unlikely Canada will play friendlies against the likes of the French and the Dutch again for a long time”…and this belief is blasphemy. The facts are it is entirely possible if believed that Canada can regularly play against that level of competition. Another fact is that 1 in 10 Canadians have a minimum dual citizenship. So if you are Tomori, born in Calgary AB with dual citizenship to England, and Gareth Southgate calls you to recruit and play for England, and Biello or Smyrniotis or Wheeldon call to recruit you to play for Canada, you are likely to go play for England. The similar can be said for, Mitrovic, Kolyosho, Flores, Morris, Farsi, Jebbison. Now, if a CANMNT Manager with a globally recognized name and success, the likes of Mourinho, Potter, Solskjaer, Flick, Lopetegui, Conte, Low, or even the likes of Henry or Marsch, Lampard excluded…the CAN players above are having a completely different decision making process, and we are having a completely different conversation around the 1st team personnel of the CANMNT. These players have one shot at investing their National careers with a national team, with a Manager and program they can see an ROI. If you want to offer the position CANMNT Manager position to a CPL Manager, you will have a National team with CPL/MLS Players with perhaps a select few European players trickled in. If Canada wants keep their homegrown top level Canadian born/affiliated players who play internationally within the CAN system, it is going to take an International level Manager to keep them. @garethwheller said something interesting, “Herdman took Canada a long way to success so why can’t a CPL coach”, however, Herdman who was being considered for jobs in Europe, said himself it was his feeling he took the CANMNT as far as he believed he could, and it was time for a new challenge. Smyrniotis or Wheeldon are not being considered for positions in Europe, and not even being considered in MLS. Are we looking to move up? Or are we looking to keep the “status quo”. Canada should strive and aim higher. We are a soccer nation of miss management and missed opportunity, and it’s time to write the ship and there is no better time with the guarantee of a Copa America birth, as well as a 2026 World Cup Birth. And this is not a slight in anyway to Smyrniotis , Wheeldon, or Biello, as they would make tremendously valuable assistant CANMNT coaches, but at this time, their calling is not the CEO and leader of the CANMNT.

If you’re willing to fund those names and have them buy in to what we have going on in Canada soccer, be my guest…
It’s unrealistic to expect the CSA to hire a manager with the billing of those names mentioned. Bobby is a proven champion who will cost cheap and the players will be bought in to his coaching as he helped many of them become the stars that they are today.
The answer is clear on who we should appoint.

@@mitchellmccrory6645 I think all the talk about there being no money is noise. We're co-hosting the largest sporting event in history in 2 years. There is money to be made. And where there is money to be made there are people wanting to invest, including coaches, who can be offered profit share. And any halfway decent coach pays for themselves anyway. We can afford to pay the right person what they deserve. The only issue is whether or not whatever corruption has been woven into the organization can be undone by Blue quickly enough to make the sort of offers he needs to make.

@@mitchellmccrory6645 @greglawrence9230 It’s the old saying is Canadas reality “it takes money to make money”. The money is there for 1/maybe 2 investments. And instead of Canada paying to play top teams, we should be revenue sharing or being paid to play so we aren’t broke. The way to do this is to be better. How do you get better?...you make sure your top talent stays and plays. Who recruits your players to stay and play?…the CANMNT Manager, there primary job descriptions are #1 recruit players, #2 coach/develop and prepare players, #3 manage players in game.
Sounds to me like the Manager should be investment #1.

There are better candidates than Rooney and Lampard, but even they are better than what we have as Canadian. We don’t have any Canadians coaches in MLS, only CPL…and CPL is the equivalent of a 3rd-5th division league in Europe.

@@riobabic8960that I can potentially agree with. But Biello cannot recruit Canada’s best players to stay and play. Which is why we need better than those 3 names.

WHAT IS A GOOD COACH ? Does anyone on this panel or doing the selecting have ANY idea what to look for ? Obviously NOT . Look at the coaches Canada has previously/currently chosen for both men's and women's teams -- a JOKE. Start at ground basics - first premises ... List 5/10 questions/scenarios that U would ask/present a prospective coach - in order to gauge his knowledge/possible ability. Obviously. there should be a multitude of such questions. Here is a starter ... 1) given a whittled down selection of the best 30 players available., who are low on skills , intuition, knowledge and understanding of the game - how would U go about forming A DECENT TEAM ? ... 2) How would U determine the formation U would use ? 3) How would U teach your players and developing young players ( 10 - 15 years old ) to kick ( shoot, pass, trap ) a ball ? 4) Name some skills / abilities U would be looking for in the players a) name 5 beginning with the letter S - -- then 5 with the letter C --- then 5 more that are important. --- why would knowing these be important? Many people can walk and even kick a balll -- but that does not mean they would be good soccer players , or coaches ? If U do not know what to look for , or what U want - then U may still get something , but it may not be what U want.
