I cannot believe that...on the 12th of october 2015 i first went to Cusco (my first travel experience out of Europe)...Exactly around that time you were there, doing this video...2 days before i left i watched 20+ or your videos and i said to myself : maybe i will start vlogging....I started my channel in April 2016 and now, watching this video, i keep thinking that we were in the same city, in the same time :))) Thats uber cool !:) Cheers!
It's really nice seeing my country through your videos. I haven't been there since 2012. Thank you!!! The juice you drank was actually a pure passion fruit juice not guava. Maracuya = Passion fruit
wow! you really ate like a local! i am peruvian and have been to cuzco 2 times. Something visitors should keep in mind is that local food can upset stomach of tourist especially if you eat at the cheap places, keep that in mind and bring appropriate medication. I do this everytime I travel to peru (cuz i moved out a while back) too. Safe travels!
Thanks for visiting my country and your positive attitude , I think things could be better and peruvians do the best they can to embrace the tourists from all over the world .
How hard is it to be a vegetarian there? I have a trip planned for may but I can’t afford it now except I already have the plane ticket. I’m thinking about postponing it until October and then shortening it. I had a month planned. Now I can only do maybe 10 days I’m thinking.
Love this channel Gabriel!! I also love that you are such a down to earth spiritualist! Many people in the spiritual world are either vegans or vegetarians and lecture why it's better... but it can be really unrealistic for a person on an extreme budget like myself or a travler like yourself. Now I suddenly don't feel guilty for my once in a blue moon wine or the chicken I eat pretty often.. as it's the cheapest source of protien I can afford! And again this channel is pretty awesome!! I've always been meaning to travel the world, recently I some jow manifested going to Puerto Rico in the most unexpected way and hoping to manifest more travels and adventures!!
Right on, thanks. Yeah I was vegetarian for three years at one point actually but the truth is, I just like eating meat. However I also love great vegetarian or vegan food if it's available. So I try to be conscious and healthy to an extent but for one thing I don't think eating meat is wrong and for another, it would really limit your options big-time as a traveler in most countries. India is the main exception, where most of the food is vegetarian and yet it's incredibly delicious. Have fun in Puerto Rico!
Hey man I just read a very interesting article on the PBS website about this drink that is extremely popular in Peru & Chile. It is supposed to be very delicious & packs a kick. It's called Pisco. I would love to see you try a glass of it!
Awesome! I freakin love the internet! I read an article that sparks my curiosity about a drink. I happen to follow a traveler on youtube who just happens to be in Peru right now and I will get to see a first hand sampling of this drink I am wondering about! How awesome is that? lol Thank you brother!
Dedhedted71 it's a delicious and tasty drink! It's. pretty strong too! if anybody is in Lima downtown, go to "el bolivarcito" at plaza san martin. Best place to get pisco sour at a decent price too. Locals love it too! I only know about it cuz a friend that lives in lima took me there.
Hey Gab, Namaste from India. Please come to South India particularly Kerala once you`re done with South America. Love the videos from a budget traveller`s perspective. Good job. Keep doing...
Thanks for a wonderful video. How was the spaghetti? I eat kosher and was wondering since in the Latin world they use almost everything with Lard, could you find Lardless food there in Cusco? Being it is a high altitude city do you get full much quickly?
I really have no idea about the lard situation, I never asked anyone about that. And not really sure if I got full quicker, I didn't really notice any difference in that regard. Definitely noticed the altitude going up hills though.
Joseph, I am from Peru and I can tell you that people don't cook with lard. I can't remember ever eating it when I was a kid. Certain foods may be but most of it no. People use vegetable oil but lard is really not the daily intake. Pork isn't really common up in the mountains. If you are ever in doubt, feel free to ask locals. They will be nice and adjust to what you can eat. Hope this helps.
Wait until you get to Peru, you will always get a much better exchange rate in the country you are going to. You would get a terrible rate if you changed dollars into Peruvian soles in the U.S. And they would probably be hard to find. Also, you can just use your ATM debit card at ATM machines in Peru, and then you will get the local currency at a fair exchange rate. That's the best thing to do. However you will want to inform your bank of where you're going so that they can enter it into their system. Otherwise your card might not work to withdraw, because it could get flagged as suspicious activity. Have an awesome trip!
Planning on going to Peru after my trip to Rio... I will land in Lima then take a flight to Cusco is it better for me to stay in cusco then travei out to Machu Picchu or split accommodation between cusco and aguas calientes? Also any info on trains and buses from cusco to aguas calientes much appreciated brother.. love the videos
Hey Gabriel, you always seem to be exploring on your own. Since there are many of us who would love to travel but can't find anyone to do it with, can you make a video about what it's like or just your opinion on it in general? Thanks!
Hi Elizabeth, camera info is always listed in the description below every video. I use different cameras for different videos, but this one was filmed with my old Olympus SP 810-UZ. I film with a much better camera now.
Okay, sorry- this is the only one of your videos I've watched thus far and checked and rechecked for camera information in your description box multiple times before asking so I didn't look careless.
He hi buddy really nice video...it helps travelers to travel in budget any day and I’m curious to know what is the cheapest country and place you had ever travelled...can u rank top 5 cheapest as per your experiences ....thanks in adv ❤️💐
Interesting question and a good one! Honestly, I can't imagine no matter how much money I had, ever going completely high end, just staying in 5-star hotels and fancy resorts and doing organized tours, etc. That sounds completely boring, both for myself and for the viewers. However, I would be stoked to at least have the option of staying in nicer places sometimes. I'm 43 years old and have been doing the budget backpacker thing for 25 years now. I don't feel obligated to stick to the backpacker identity and always be roughing it. I've stayed in nice hotels at times and it's great to have some luxury and just have things be clean, comfortable and pleasant for a change. So yeah, I'll take the big success if it happens to come my way. If so it'll be fun to show people the inside of some 5-star luxury resorts, or even cruises just for fun, since I've never been on one. But then I'll go trekking in the Himalayas and take the crazy local bus ride in India or Mexico too, to keep things interesting. I have some awesome things in mind that I'd love to do, that would be a lot more doable if I had some more money to work with. I guess we'll see what happens!

Gabriel Traveler I stayed at a fancy $400 a night hotel last summer. That was the first time. I did it because I have a free night once a year as a gift from my credit card. I was like wow, now I totally understand why people stay at 5 star hotels. The bed was so comfortable you felt like your body was melting into the mattress. It was a nice experience. I've done the hostel thing plenty too. I think now at age 40 a good balance is an airbnb.
+Gabriel Traveler if I go in your country and that I eat a french cook I will eat a cook of your country or of the France? Yes you went in peruvian restaurant but the cook that you eaten was a cook no peruvian it's cook "international" don't have origin, have you looked the video link? you eaten this cook?
+Gabriel Traveler sorry I mean peruvian food if you prefere we can to speak in spanish or french but I saw that you know only speak english your language, you go in one country like Peru without to know her food it's normal that you think to eat something peruvian because you don't know nothing about her food.

Great, thanks for the local info. :)
Another great vid! I'm heading to Peru this May & was wondering if you recommend exchanging money here in the U.S. or over in Peru?

Cool, thanks Ryan, appreciate it.
I'm sure you've been asked this but what kind of camera do you use? Love your videos!
No prob, this video was all taken using my Olympus SP-810UZ. I also have a GoPro Hero Plus LCD.
Hey Gabriel, you always seem to be exploring on your own. Since there are many of us who would love to travel but can't find anyone to do it with, can you make a video about what it's like or just your opinion on it in general? Thanks!
Right on, I'll jot that one down, good idea.
I was wondering what camera you use to vlog?

Cheapest countries I've been to: India, Nepal, Georgia, Ukraine, Thailand, Guatemala.
You should visit El Salvador
Carlos Barrientos too dangerous
Its not dangerous. I was just there in November.
Any problems with water or food based bacteria or paracites?
No, no problems for me.
What month was this filmed?
In October 2015.
Nice- but if you would stop waving your camera everywhere! Slow down- hard to watch thnx
I'm using another camera now that has better image stabilization for smoother videos.
if your channel becomes big will you still have a budget focus or will you go high end to match your income?

Yeah, food is delicious there, except for the cheesecake, I believe is way better the one made in the US.
hello, why you don't eat peruvian cook?
Peruvian food, you mean? I did, I went to Peruvian restaurants for lunch and dinner.
+Gabriel Traveler if I go in your country and that I eat a french cook I will eat a cook of your country or of the France? franck pop
Sorry, I don't understand your English. A "cook" is the same as a chef, a cook makes the food.
+Gabriel Traveler sorry I mean peruvian food if you prefere we can to speak in spanish or french but I saw that you know only speak english your language, you go in one country like Peru without to know her food it's normal that you think to eat something peruvian because you don't know nothing about her food.
I spent 7 weeks in Peru and ate at lots of different types of restaurants.
Go to brazil, when people think about south america they think about brazil beautiful women nice beaches.
you never seem to be with any friends. Don't you get lonely?
Lol I'm correcting your Spanish pronunciation as you say a word..... But good try!
No problema.
