These river crossings are getting RIDICULOUS |S7E33|

- In this episode, I am visiting several villages in The Gambia with Jalamang, a local. But to get there, we have to cross the river Gambia. I have done many river crossings with my motorcycle, but it's just getting a bit ridiculous now. This is starting to look like a re-enactment of Titanic. Jack, I can fly!

One thing I've learned from your videos is that most of the world does not live in the luxurious conditions that we have in the west, yet they are still happy, friendly, and welcoming.
yes you don't need material things to have a good life.
From my time in Africa ,I'd say many folk who have little ,have much better lives than many US city dwellers .
You don't have to be rich to be happy.
More connected to life and what really matters and not inundated with all the craziness that comes with living in a highly developed society, which requires people to basically become slaves. They don't leave to work and spend most of their time with strangers and instead spend it with loved ones, working together.
Probably even more than us.
Noraly doesn't just visit other cultures, sometimes she becomes immersed in it. Noraly, you are a great educator and ambassador!
@@yaraahmed2215 How many more times are you going to repeat this disrespectful and lame brained comment, hey ahmed?
@@yaraahmed2215 What a stupid and insensitive comment. Such people should be banned from posting. Cheap mentality.
Immersed is exactly right...from providing transportation, helping with meal prep, overnight guest, even someone helping with filming. This is one of my favorite episodes.
What a heartwarming episode. Such a beautiful interaction with locals. Sharing rice and supplies with the people is so generous of you. And Alaska has once again done her part transporting and riding the waves😀. Quite a dancer, Noraly!
Very well said, Debbie. This episode brought tears to my eyes! ❤
Episódio incrível. Parabéns
I am fascinated and really touched how Noraly is welcomed by all the people she meets. She has a natural openness that draws people to her. She is a perfect ambassador everywhere she goes.
"Natural openness that draws people to her" wtf is that? Can't other people just be nice too? The whole world isn't filled with just bad nasty people. Nice people do exist.
@@solitarymassacre Try it for yourself and approach strangers with a grumpy and closed-minded mood. People will definitely not be as open and friendly to you in return as if you were this friendly and positive to them. This has nothing to do with meeting a "bad" or a "good" person
@@starstencahl8985 Lmao. She's not "drawing people to her with a natural openness" lol. That is my point. Obviously being rude isn't going to get anyone anywhere. I also never mentioned anything about "bad" or "good" people, I said nice people do exist. You can be as nice as ever and still meet some horrible nasty people who want nothing to do with you.
Traveling around the world I have found everybody loves a stranger. I find that to be so true.
that's how people are over there, especially if youre a guest, it has nothing to do with openness
This episode had everything I love about Noraly and this channel! The solo riding, trail finding, appreciation of big beautiful trees. Of letting the adventure find YOU, the meeting of new friends, Noraly's generosity and eagerness to experience local culture. Her ability to connect with people, to communicate without words, to negotiate the unknown with her infectious smile. The locals gathering in wonder, the cheerful guide introducing Noraly to their way of life and them inevitably offering a place to stay. And to challenge Alaska with a heavy pack load, a surprise river crossing, and she endures as the ever ready and stalwart mechanical friend! Love it.💯
By far this has been one of the most interactive video. I love how Gambian people embraced you. That slim lady who called you by the name in the kitchen has been the pinnacle of this episode. It reminded me Namibia, Angola and Botswana episodes. We love you Noraly.
You thrive riding remote roads that are barely more than trails. Rarely see you providing taxi services, including Jalamang and 25 kilos of charity rice. You are a very kind and thoughtful person to locals you don't even know. Amazed how accepting/incusive locals are of you. 👍 ❤
you know a good heart when you see it..
Very Very kind and down to earth. Whatever been the condition of environment she joins the town folks in whatever they do. Much love 😍😍😍 Noraly.
Fascinating! To see a white woman in the village. And it was pure joy from the villagers!!! Excellent education for us all!
@@yaraahmed2215 really 🤨
@@yaraahmed2215 Stupid insensitive comment there Mr yara ahmed and quite out of place.
Seeing you drive through my Country the smiling coast of Africa brought tears of joy in my eyes ! Sweet Mama Gambia 🇬🇲 miss you ! Soon come inshallah 🙏🏾
Sweet mama i love u ❤❤❤
Best youtube watch of the week in every aspect, I have the greatest respect for Noraly, guaranteed to be another awesome episode. Thank you from South Africa.
Wow. Iceland, Ecuador, Namibia, The Gambia. Itchy Boot’s episodes are kaleidoscopic. Ever-changing, but with Noraly at the center, always the same - entertaining and inspiring!
What faster way than to indulge in the local culture to make friends. These villagers will remember you and your visit for who knows how long. Thanks Noraly.
I think you know for how long ;)....4ever
You are such a great ambassador for the world. Some of our people here in the states should go to Africa and get re-educated in humbleness. You are such a great person to absorb cultures and kindness. I grew up without phones and electricity in our big farmhouse. We chopped wood all year, carried water from a well a 1/4 mile from our home. When I went into the military I thought i had gone to heaven. 2 showers a day, 3 meals a day, heat, or fans. I listened to the rich guys complaining??? Complaining? I don’t hear the people you meet complaining!!!! Yeah a lot of Americans need a wake up call. When they whine and complain we need to send them to these countries to be re-educated. Or re schooled in kindness and and to learn empathy. Thanks Noraly again, for your great work showing us these great people! ❤❤
I can't get over how effortlessly you connect with people from all walks of life. Noraly, your generosity and genuine interest in their culture is truly inspiring. As an added treat for us, I appreciated the short dance at the end of the episode 😁
totally agree Mike!
Your smile lights up a million lights, humble loving and caring. Devoted follower. 💕
Smile is the international gesture...
I loved that little dance at the end, those children will remember “The white woman who danced with us” for years to come
Noraly’s personality is like a ray of sunshine in the darkness anywhere she travels! Noraly is definitely the Ambassador of Adventure Travel….
Wow! Noraly really knows how to get along with all the folks she meets on her adventures and having lived myself in a number of such cultures over the years I totally agree that her immersive experiences give another level of enrichment to her travels and will leave her with memories she will never forget and will always raise a smile. What an amazing character she is, as are many of the kind and helpful folks she meets on the way.
It is very special to see the kids excited about their mysterious visitor...
You are a kind and wonderful person and I am lucky to follow all your videos 👍 👍 👍 🙏🙏🙏
How to manage in an area where EVERYTHING is so much more primitive than what you are accustomed to is always an eye opener. You are certainly your own ambassador, Noraly. Automatically welcomed wherever you find yourself, you are truly amazing, I’m so impressed with how you manage to insert yourself comfortably into virtually any situation…❤❤❤Rick
That is exactly what I would have said but I didn't have the words..😊 Thank you for accurately summing up what so many of us feel but aren't able to put into words.
I went to The Gambia ten years ago it is absolutely beautiful and the people are the most humble and friendly people I’ve met in the world
❤️👍
❤
This is an amazing episode. I always have tears in my eyes when I see Noraly interacting with locals and making their days a little bit better. I‘ve met Noraly in Dawson City in Canada, and she’s just a wonderful human being. Thank you for taking us with you on your adventures!
You are so lucky to have met her.
Olá saudações aqui do país Brasil, um grande abraço fraterno pra todos.
So awesome you got to meet Noraly. What a momentous event that had to be! I'm not afraid to admit this video and some others I also have tears of joy. Hard to explain but she just has that effect.
You became a legend here, the people you met in these villages will remember you for the rest of their lives as a well mannered, down to earth, and beautiful woman from the Netherlands.
Health and safety 😂 we carry your bike across the river in a very unsafe way, but you must wear a lifejacket 😂 brilliant!
Love how you interact with the locals and your generosity to their need. You are a fine example how we all should share our lives...
This episode was different, few landscapes but a lot of humanity. Surely this kind of encounters leave something special in your soul. Well done Noraly!!!🥰🥰👍👍👍
Noraly, our child of the world. Transporting us all to unimaginable places, sights sounds. Just loving every moment Thank you Noraly💕💕💕
Thanks for taking us with you around the world!!
You can start a journey not knowing anything and return the same not knowing anything more. But meeting locals and communicate with them and be able to see how their normal life is, to take all this in is what makes a journey like yours a life-experience. Safe trails!
I can not remember exactly the proverb about this. Can someone help /maybe AI. :). Something about a mule leaving a place and returning as a mule
Noraly, you bring so much joy to everyone you meet. Your down to earth, humble and friendly attitude is truly a game changer - no wonder people immediately warm up to you and open their hearts and homes! It's the simple, fun loving things you do and say, and of course your beautiful big smile. Love your interactions, there's such a calm, peacefulness about you. 💜
I agree one hundred percent with you Bridget!!
Perfectly said 😊
Bridget, you stole the words right out of my mouth! Well done! 👍
This video was an enlightening education of how the locals live without the modern conveniences that we take for granted. Thank you Noraly for showing us the different cultures in places we would not likely visit. You are receiving the best education there is and are an example of one living life to the fullest. God bless you.
You’re right. After seeing their bathroom, I had to check myself about the dissatisfaction with my parents bathroom (staying with them) because it is really old and needs an upgrade.
Laden with a passenger & 25 kilos of rice. Your adaptability to any riding condition & local customs is extraordinary.
If you add the weight of the extra petrol tank, she is probably going over the maximum recommended load for the bike on this occasion.
One pack was 25kgs and the other pack 50kgs.

Wow, "the Darien gap" was just boot camp for Africa. Amazing! Cheers.
Such happy people, welcoming ,kind, generous. Thank-you Noraly for introducing us all.

This noraly lady, is absolutely outstanding ....we can write a book , about how brave, smart , down to earth , humble, nice , open minded, soft , and having a strong character in the same time, in another words... a hero
Wow the adventures she gets involved in. And never loses her humour.
Thanks for this video, Noraly. I've seen so many cultures from watching Itchy Boots for four years now. A bright smile and friendly conversation goes a long way. Onward!
Even though I grew up in Senegal this is making me feel very nostalgic, not too different from the area I grew up. Thank you for taking the time to visit these areas that often get over looked but are the heart of countries like this.
Simply Amazing! The respect you have for the local people and their ways of life is legendary. Regardless of cultural differences concerning women’s rights, I truly believe that your actions and deeds are of epic importance for peace internationally in the microcosm of your world can and does effect the macrocosm in a profound way!
It’s a joy to watch how your dazzling smile can be felt with or without the helmet , warming the hearts of children around the world
Noraly is now the offical African (River Crossing) Queen! It's really interesting when she gets to interact with local people and do a sleep-over.
When we travel to foreign lands it is too easy to remain as an observer rather than a participant in the culture you are visiting.....Noraly delights in participating, sharing, learning and understanding the people she meets......that is why she is so special to us, her viewers and followers.
True words! Thank you...
Noraly, I enjoy watching your adventures. Am really learning a lot. Weldone
We share your enthusiasm for getting back to dirt tracks and local tribes. Grazie Noraly, andiamo!!!🇮🇹
I love episodes like this where you go to small villages, because it reminds me that often people that on the surface appear to have the least actually have the most because they they are a true community that work together and have real respect for each other. The so called developed Countries could learn a lot from these people. That unfortunately includes where I live (USA). Thanks for showing us and hopefully teaching us these valuable lessons through your travels. ❤
Sometimes i feel bad for Alaska but than i realize she's an absolute machine 💪 & so is noraly 💪they together can go through anything!!
Fantástico vídeo, essa partilha e convivência com outras culturas, muito generosa e modesta...Espetacular.
What kind of huge impact, Noraly has had on the world. A young woman solo on a bike!👍
Ms Noraly it was a very good gesture on your part to carry bag of rice or bread to communities you visit and stay with. God bless you ! you have a very kind heart and a thought full mind behind the adventurous life. Take care.
Your genuine kindness and compassion are why we are all so fond of you Noraly. You taking the bread for your lunch out of your pack and giving it to those desperate children a few episodes back. I feel the Lord smiles as He follows your travels.
LOVE the dance snippet at the end! I am a dancer/teacher and love seeing dance from other cultures…thank you for sharing. Enjoy! ❤💃✨
Stay strong, God bless you.
And thanks for all your work, for all of us who are not able to see Africa them selves.
🙂
It is crazy to be surrounded with people who even can't change a lightbulb, and watching how you do all. Sometimes I cant force anyone to go a bit out of the city... I just sent this video to my best friend. He should see he wont die if he goes out from his comfort area (between home-work deadly cycle) ...... Thanks for sharing these moments with us. 😍💯
You are such a trusting and giving soul. Love what you do. Safe travels, be well.
What endears Noraly to so many around the world is not only her adventurous spirit that brings us to many beautiful places but also her respect for nature and humanity with all its diversities. The world would have been a better place if there are more Noralies around. Thank you Noraly for bringing us to places where we can only dream or hear so much about.
That was absolutely awesome Noraly!
Seeing the genuine happiness on your face when you were dancing with those children there at the very end really made me smile
The thought then occurred to me that you are such an amazing example of a person who is living life to the fullest. The next thought was, “if she can do it, anyone else can too. I'm not saying everyone should ride the backroads of the world, but whatever ones passion is, we should all be as enthusiastic as you are.
You certainly do inspire a lot of people!
P.S., I LOVE the episodes when you take food to the folks in those little villages!!
You have a good ❤
I totally agree! Noraly smile and energy is contagious
Stopping and spending some time with people -- that's what gives life its spice.
One of your best videos, Noraly.
I've said it in other episodes . Your giving us all an invaluable history lesson each week. Thank you for showing us the lives of people through out the world .
Thanks Noraly. You are letting us discover people are goodhearted everywhere in this blue pebble we call Earth.
Noraly has a passion for momentum. The ferry just left… so… load up on yet another small but capable boat. It is the way of Noraly. Her motorcycles fit in baskets that descend cliff faces, they fit in cable cars that traverse rivers. More than one canoe has carried a Noraly bike around an obstacle. The way ahead is… forward. Love the determination.
It is so pleasant to be entertain by your warm personality, none pretentious and humble. You have a great human sense of value and respect , you are collecting rich memories and you allow humble persons to touch and make impressions on your life. You are a wholesome, educated , refine scholar. Thank you for inviting us on your many discoveries of the world that we would NEVER be able to explore. Be wise and stay safe in contact

It’s not easy to halt a night in such a place where even there is no basic facilities…. I really appreciate your generosity & salute to your courage.
Thank you for taking us there…
I can appreciate your efforts to be respectful in your interactions with people and in your filming and that everyone is having a good time. It's a win for you, for the people you meet and for us.
Culture report at its finest!

Lovely episode, Noraly! 🥰 Loved seeing your interaction with the locals. People like you, Javier, and Jalamang help make the world a better place ❤ And nice moves, Itchy Boots! 💃
You take "Breaking down the barriers" to a whole new level, Noraly.Awesome.💝
"Oh the trail is gone... or is it over there". Typically Noraly :). Love it.
You are quite the tour guide, Noraly. Such a fine world ambassador you are!
That was an absolutely amazing vid, Noraly. Thank you for taking us on a journey most will never experience in person. Love, love, love it! Alaska is getting to be a pro at river crossings! Be safe, enjoy.
Seeing the small villages gives a real understanding of life in the outlying areas in The Gambia!
It's amazing how it all just happens. If I recall correctly, this started out with a conservationist who was so happy to see a fellow motorcyclist.
Good to see you interact more with the people of the land and thanks for showing us a glimpse of the lives of ordinary villagers. It is customary in many places around the world not to go to an invite empty handed. The pack of rice was not a 'charity'. It was good manners. Something little taught these days.
Noraly you are such a giving person in so many ways! It was nice to see you shopping for provisions for the village people and then partaking in the food prep! Life is not easy there but everyone is so happy! And finally we get to see a happy dance from Noraly!! Yay!! Great video and thanks for sharing! Cheers to you from Texas!❤❤
Hi Noraly, I have subscribed to this channel for a few months now but this for me has been the video that most reminded me of my beloved Africa (Somalia where I lived my youth for ten years). The welcome you received from those women, that hearth in the hut, that food cooked with love made me go back almost 40 years when I left the great Mother Africa to return to Italy where I live. Everything so beautiful, so natural so spontaneous. I envy you.
Always good to see you respect the people and their culture. Thanks for giving. God bless you.
On the road again plus visiting! Doesn't get much better than this.
Thank you for taking us on your incredible journay! So much smile and peace on this sunday morning 😊 great to meet those beautyfull ppl. Thank you Noraly, be safe!
Thank you for inspiring kindness Noraly! Sending Aloha from Kauai, Hawaii 🏝️🐬🌺
That is what makes your episodes so special. You show us the real life and not just the touristy things that others might present. And with your equipment and boots, you probably sweated quite a bit after the dance at the very end. ❤
This is more like the village life which it is also a great way to experience how the village people live.
Beautiful episode Noraly x you have a calmness and kindness that shines so bright x inspirational x
For me watching itchy boots is about the human spirit and inspiration by way of their particular brand of pursuit and style toward journey & adventure. 😎
*Ms Noraly, Thank you for showing us how others live around the world.... an eye opening experience indeed. But it's not about how rich you are.... its about the love they show to others & themselves. You are showing us that there is indeed peace & kindness on this planet earth.*
Best content creator on earth, youtube should be proud ❤❤❤ i love how noraly is able to quickly connect with people and how simple she is. Stay safe
This girl is the best documentary maker ever and her skills will be snapped up in the future . Brilliant work.

Oh this has made me so homesick! It is three years since I have been in Janjanbureh after first visiting 2004 and usually once or twice a year up till then for extended periods. JJB is a unique place So proud to see all that has developed in Community Based Tourism and see Jalamang develop over the years so he is now the Chief Tour Guide providing a real insight. Their training was of international standard and so intense and I love seeing it all. My first visit changed my view of life completely and I was determined that I should support in some way. It has been taken far beyond my initial expectations due to the dedication of the local youths. Thank you for sharing it with me.and thank you JUST ACT. Jane Smith Just Act Gambia

Such beautiful, hospitable and graceful people, a joy to see! Thanks for taking us with you!
Noraly and her way of dealing with the communities and individuals of the world is a fantastic example for us all.
Yes, as long as they dont hv gold or oil, so they don't need to be bombed by the empire.
Another amazing day! Different, yet so exciting! What a river crossing with Alaska delicately balanced on the bow! Please no Titanic experience……. lol…. Super nice people in the villages. Thanks for sharing this day in your adventure! Ride safe Noraly!
