    Everybody always says how great of a defender Michael Jordan was throughout his career. Truthfully, you can be a great defender, but definitely run up against players with offensive talent that you can’t stop or control. Rod Strickland was one of those type of players for Jordan

      Facts, but to be fair Jordan did lock him up the whole series in ‘97. Held him to 42% shooting and took the whole Bullets offense out of rhythm. Strick scored about 20ppg but took so many shots, the most shots on his team to get it. Webber and Juwan were the leading shot attempters on that team all season, but Strick was forcing his and Mike checked him. All great defenders are gonna get beat sometimes.

      I don't remember him being considered omnipotent on D back in the day. Jackson would switch it up when MJ was getting burnt. IIRC, he switched out MJ in favor of BJ Armstrong to cover Kevin Johnson in the finals.

    Nobody could guard Michael Jordan. But he's human and he would STRUGGLE to guard the quick, shifty PG's today. Rod is Kyrie Irving's godfather and imagine MJ trying to guard Kyrie off the pick or Trae Young or Dame Lillard. He'd be at his wits end because they can kill you in so many ways. I'd also love to see how MJ deals with a bigger player guarding him who also is stronger and has quick hands like Kawhi.

      @@gibby9677 not really, he’d have 4.3 40, top 5 biggest hands in the league, 6’11 wingspan, 46 inch vertical, which could shoot the mid range at an good level or possibly the other version of him which was one of the top 4 most skilled scorer ever and possibly the greatest mid range ever, his abilities to push teammates pass there limits so that they can perform at the highest level possible is unmatched, also his mentally and work ethic are second to none.

    Jordan always had a problem with quicker guards that play up front. Isiah and stockton would often get him on a basic right left crossover, young AI got him. You can't hand check if a guy plays up front.

      Good thing you said this because I noticed this too. Quicker PGs seem to get past Jordan. Even the GOAT was exploitable. I never seen MJ get roasted on defense like that for how good of a defender he is.
      He does get his steals and blocks at times but speedy guards was his weakness. At least he was too good to make up for the small weaknesses he had that carried over his teammates. Don't forget about Gary Payton too for Sonics. He was good against Jordan for a quicker and defensive PG that can score.

    The funny thing is that pretty much every one of these crossovers were better and had MJ biting harder than Iverson's cross, but that's the one people always talk about. I mean Strickland was getting uncontested shots off here.
