- Hey guys! In this video I show you how I made my friends (very late birthday gift) Sound Tribe Sector 9 themed plaster sculpture.
This is a neat way to make some art, using only foam board and plaster! ...and a cheap lamp if you wanna go the extra mile ;)
The idea is to build up a box/container out of layers of foam board and then (after applying petroleum jelly a.k.a. vaseline) fill it with plaster. It can really be as SIMPLE or complex as you like! I put the lamp and some sanded pieces of acrylic for added effect.
This project has been a LONG time coming, and I'm so glad to finally have it done. STS9 is one of my friend's favorite bands, and we've both been to quite a few of their shows together, so this is kind of a "monumental memorial" to many of the good times we've had over the years :)
THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR SUPPORT!
Thanks for watching, and if you have ANY questions, don't hesitate to ask in the comment section below!
Ross , I truly can’t thank you enough for creating me this beautiful piece of art for my birthday! Beyond being a talented artist , you are also a great friend, and I appreciate you for being the hardworking, honest, and just genuinely good person that you are. I have enjoyed watching you challenge yourself since you began this RUclips project , and I think you are off to a great start. Every video has been quality thus far - between the art, editing, music selection, and your entertaining personality !
As you know I love the groovy music that STS9 creates , and even more the community and positivity that I feel when I am seeing them live. When I look at the masterpiece you created for me I am reminded of not only the good feels Sound Tribe inspires , but also the tribe of friends we have that are like family and the positivity we share with each other. Im going to be enjoying this lamp for as long as I can. I thank you for all the hard work you put in to make the coolest gift I have ever received, and it was super cool seeing how you managed to pull it off. I’m proud of you for chasing your dreams, and I believe you will succeed in whatever you apply yourself to. I love ya man, and look forward to making more great memories with you and the rest of the gang !
Everybody say hi to Joe!
Thanks for the kind words, brother. I'm glad you're enjoying it! I don't know if I'd have ever gotten this started if not for the initial support and encouragement from you and the rest of the family! ❤
Hi Joe!!!
Wow this is really beautiful ❤
I don't how many time did I say the word "beautiful" on this channel, but I'm sure I did quite a lot and I don't usually do that 😂
Also Joe happy late birthday man 🎉
Everyone ought to have a buddy like you. One who thinks and never forgets of those near and dear to ones heart
Got to see it in person before the vid, the utility of this piece of art adds new light to your portfolio. 😁
Thanks Hunter! This was, without a doubt, the most challenging video so far 😅
Coolest lamp ever!! It's great to see it finally completed! ❤
Thanks, you're the coolest ever! 😉
Damn, sir, you have an incredibly steady hand.
Lots of practice 😉 Thanks for watching, man!
So helpful and awesome thank you so much for making and sharing this!
That was awesome.
I like the shade piece the best. Very unusual.
Thank you Kati! This was a tough one, but my friend loves it! 😊
Ross man, your concept on this is three dimensional in reality you brought this to us thru your hands, very inspiring using simple shapes, & molding them into a 3D form, & the illumination is the perfect complement to your artistic mind.
Great Job Ross! Btw like how you repaired that corner. 😜👍
That turned out fantastic!
Thanks so much TJ! Feels great to finally have it done, my friend absolutely loved it!
This turned out amazing! The idea for sanding the acrylic to make that frosted effect was perfect! I would love to make something like this, I just need to clear out some space in my place and also finish the tons of projects that I keep going between. I am constantly playing with new art forms. I hope to see a new video from you soon, I always enjoy your work! 💖
Thank you so much Jamie! Yes, sometimes I have to force myself to see a project through before starting other ones, or else they sit there for a while 😂
love the way your mind work
Nicely done. I haven’t tried making molds with foam board before.
Thank you! It's nice because you're basically just "carving" foam board with a blade. You just have to think backwards when doing it 😉
Thats a really awesome creation Ross! :D
Thank you Jonas! Good to see you back in action! 😀
*Builds a master piece*
*Said it’s not that perfect*
Then there’s me who can’t even make a paper plane :’3
I don't know why but it's givin me a "Fortress of Solitude" kind of vibe
Haha, that's awesome! I could totally see that 😂
@@RossTheRandom It's an awesome work by the way, keep going :)

Thank you! 😊 He still does!!
It's crazy how easy it is for you to cut through that foam board... I can't even cut a straight line on those things 😅
This is so awesome!! It's really cool!

2nd thoughts no offense Ross, but I think it would illuminate better if you could bring the light source closer to the base. 😁✌
