I Turned a Spoon into a DRAGON and SWORD! | ASMR, kind of

- Hi guys, it's good to be back at it again!! In this video I turned a simple old stainless steel spoon into a dragon and sword. This one was quite a challenge, as I had to figure out how to design the dragon just right so that the sword locks in by tension with the dragon at certain points, using the curvature of the spoon.
As you've seen in most of my videos, I used the trusty ol' jeweler's saw to do most of the cutting. By the time I got done cutting out the dragon, (which seemingly took FOREVER) I decided to make quick work of the sword and use my angle grinder instead. Each piece was sanded down all the way to 1200 grit sandpaper, then super fine steel wool, and finally finished up with white polishing compound on my Dremel using a buffing bit.
Then of course, what's a dragon without FIRE!? I used a simple Harbor Freight micro torch for heat bluing the steel. Originally I had planned for a more consistent blue with a fade out to purple, but that was quite difficult with the very narrow flame. HOWEVER, I really love how it wound up giving the dragon a random, kind of galactic appearance of coloring on the dragon. Anyway, I hope you all enjoy this one, let me know what you think in the comment section! And of course, if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask! Хобби

Thank you Jonas!! I was a bit nervous there, I've never heat-colored anything before lol
What a great surprise! Beautiful piece, love the effect created by the flame.
Hope we don't have to wait a year until your next video.
Thank you, Lesley! Won't be long til the next one, I promise 😁
My friend, *you* know that one day we will be kicked out of the house for stealing spoons from the kitchen🤦😅🤣🤣 Great job, glad to see you here again 😜🤜🤛
Lol! You might be right 😂 Maybe this will gain enough views to go get some more spoons 🤣🤣
Thank you man, it's good to be back!
Truly handcrafted masterpiece... no CAD, just your own brains and eyes and hands!!!!
My highest esteem for your creativity! So glad that you are back!
Thank you so much! Good to be back 😁 Now I'll spend the rest of the weekend brainstorming the next one 😉
Although I trust you're brimming over with ideas, here's one more:
I like the idea of JANUS.
In ancient Roman religion and myth, Janus is the god of beginnings, gates, transitions, time, duality, doorways, passages, frames, and endings.
Janus presided over the beginning and ending of conflict, and hence war and peace.
As a god of transitions, he had functions pertaining to birth as well as death and to journeys and exchange.
Way to come back 💪 Stunning creation brother, so makes me wana try this out.
Great to see you creating & inspiring again 🤘
Thank you so much, Spike!! Good to be back at again finally 😃
The wait was long but finally you're back and with a fantastic creation! I'm already waiting for the next show.👍👍👍

A very beautiful piece ! I really like the way you entwined the Sword thru the Dragon to make the finished piece.
Thank you so much, Jane! That took some very careful planning to pull it off 😊

Such a cool project and video!
Definitely glad to see more from you!
Also, recently trying to learn to weld and had been using silverware to try and make stuff.
Had not even thought of using polishing compound to get rid of the scratches and discoloration to make it all uniform again.
Thanks for the idea. Also, since I bought a ton of silverware at thrift stores to use as material, I have a lot of them laying around and will have to try something like this myself (we'll see how long my patience will last, lol)
Thank you Justin!😃 I definitely love seeing what kind of materials I can score at the thrift stores as well
Fantastic & Beautiful piece!
Very happy to see you back!
Thank you!! It's good to be back 😊
@@RossTheRandom Seriously, Ross, you are inspiring. I've always been a Maker of one sort of another.
Mostly painting at first, but that was discouraged as a kid Have been dealing with cancer since 2017. Ever since the diagnosis, all I want to do is create. When I lose focus, I come to RUclips, & your videos always help me stay on track. So yeah, I'm pretty happy you're back!
@@thearthound Wow, that's incredibly encouraging to hear, I can't say that enough 😊 That's unfortunate you were discouraged, but I'm glad you stuck to creativity as I find it necessary to my very existence. I hope you continue to persevere with your battle with cancer, it seems your positivity is serving you well ❤️
Если вдруг в доме закончились ложки - не беда. Зато теперь у вас есть дракон и клинок! )) Лайк за старание.
благодарю вас 😊
That is gorgeous.
Thanks Debbie 😊
ROSS THE RANDOM!!!
So good to see you posting again--rather randomly 😀
Haha, thank you! It's what I do 😁
You should try and make or buy a bench pin to go with the jewelers saw. Really helps with getting into those fine details, same with some finer thickness blades. I bit of bees wax also helps lubricate the blade and keeps it from breaking on long cuts. Awesome work and artistry from everyday items!
Thank you!! I've been reeeally thinking about getting me a bench pin lol. I usually have a tea candle lying around to lubricate it, but the stainless is relentless on the blades 😂 Might have to try beeswax though, may very well perform better!
Mr. Random! It's always so great to see your videos, this was fantastic! The way the sword clicked into place at the end was absolutely genius! Thank you for blessing us with your amazing art 😁
Thank you so much for the kind words 😊 That particular part was definitely one of the most challenging points to figure out!
Your videos are inspiring. They prove that with a good deal of talent and patience, one can do great things with little budget. Nice to see you're back!

Thank you! 😊
J'ai enfin d retour ... merci !!et bravo ça fait plaisir
Thank you ❤️
Couldn't you have sand papered the edges of the finished product to give it more highlights? Maybe even sandpaper the whole thing to just give it a cool stripped metallic look with the color undertone.
Perhaps! That could look cool 🙂Only problem is if it didn't turn out good, I'd have to start the whole sanding and polishing all over again.. which takes a LOT longer than I can show in the video lol
At this point I wonder how dangerous it is for you to go through an MRI, what with all the metal shavings over the years. Fantastic work as always though
Lol thank you! I sure hope none of it is in me 😬
Soo cool.
Thanks Amanda! 😀
