There should be a UN resolution banning Yanks from making anymore "Oirish" films.
I'm surprised they didn't use a Leprechaun.
OMG! I know right!
That’s for part 2 😉 😂
This is just a Hallmark movie that got put on Netflix (at least that's how your summary makes it out to be)
Also this seems far from her worst film. That would be The Canyons. Now THAT movie was dogshite.
I was about to comment this exactly😂
HOLLYWOOD: We're gonna make a movie about the Irish!
IRISH PEOPLE: 🤦
IRISH FILMMAKERS: No, WE'RE going to make a movie about the Irish.
EVERYBODY: 👏👏👏👏
I love how St Brigid is basically Gossip Girl .
AHAHAHAHAHAHA that is SO astute 😂😂😂😂😂
This movie idea of Irish is soooooo bad. The Irish dancing in the pub with the fiddle and the plaid shirts and the berets. Come on!!!
This movie was so entertaining because it was so ridiculous 😂
But my main questions are...
How can I get a direct flight from Knock Airport to literally anywhere beyond the Atlantic Ocean?!
Where can I find a bus driver that will literally drop me to my door and reverse out the driveway like it's no big deal?!
What’s also weird is that he was like, yeah sure I can bring you there. Did he not have a set route to follow?! 😂
Re: the wedding vow rehearsal, I don't know what they do in Ireland, but in the US it's typical to have a wedding rehearsal 1-2 days before the wedding. But we generally don't rehearse the vows. The rehearsal is more about getting the processional and recessional right -- who goes first, who sits/stands where, etc. Essentially it's scene blocking. The wedding party and parents usually go out to dinner afterwards, and the groom's family picks up the tab for the dinner.
This I’ve heard of here, been to… two, I think. I just never saw them practice the vow bit 😂
Oh this is a great idea. I was recently a bridesmaid at a place I had never seen before, first down the aisle, realised half way down I had no idea where I was heading. I had not considered before that moment that it would not be obvious.
@@jswa1225 How terrifying! Hopefully you figured it out as you went along. I was first down the aisle at my sister's wedding. I remember when the organist started playing the processional, EVERYBODY in the church turned around and was looking at me. For a super introvert like me, it was a nightmare come true! I wound up not getting married myself, but that experience made me swear that no way would I have a church ceremony -- it'd be courthouse all the way!
I had a vow run through before my wedding (Protestant in Dublin, so not necessarily a widespread thing). It was just husband, vicar and me though, not a 'thing'.
Talk about stretching things out. We’d never really do the dinner the night before, drink would be taken, it would get late and no one would turn up the next morning. Bridal party needs to be chilling at home in their PJs.
Not them calling the Ploughing the "sheep shearing"?! What. How dare. 😭
I don't think they did. Mayo does have an annual sheep sheering competition
@@hcoleman7757 oh, I didn't know that! Then they can be forgiven haha
@@hcoleman7757 Wait, What? They shear the sheep where exactly? :O
@ConnbineHarvester geographically, or anatomically? The national sheep sheering championship 2024 is being held in Mountbellew, Galway, in June. They shear the sheep all over.
When my husband suggested we watch it, I said, "Sure. It'll be awful, but we like Lindsay Lohan." I stand by that. (Honestly, the bit that pissed me off the most was the representation of Brigid. Making a firey goddess into a goofy pixie had me chipping my teeth.)
Stop that was criminal
You should definitely do more reviews 😂😂 I am totes here for it!
Love it! 😂. You should do more film reviews!
This film should have been called I Wish I had a Fekn’ Clue about Ireland. You may not see this till in the morning so, Top o’ the morning to ya! (authentic)
I expect I'll give it a miss.
Thanks Clare.
The St. Brigid fairy is wearing Pakistani/Indian salwar kameez, so that just makes it sooooo much better.
I noticed that !! 🤣 eek. The icing on the cake...
This review is hysterical. I haven't watched this movie and have no intention to but I did watch the trailer and was just glad they didn't have Lindsay put on a bad Irish accent. That doesn't seem to be the case with the other actors 😆The part with Brigid looks like an abomination 🤣
I started watching but thankfully fell asleep.
I love your critique of the film....and i also love the way you say film! All the best Claire!
Irish Wish...I wish I'd seen this video before watching it.
My Irish wish is reunification of The Republic and the north but that would possibly be a very different movie, short of that, a mens football team who scored a goal every few months would be an ok wish too!
I LOVE me some Alexander Vlahos (the welsh one lol)…. 10/10 would sell a kidney for that man…. But yeah…… probs should have hit up some ACTUAL Irish actors for a movie that’s gonna be going there 😒😫
I know it was days ago, but Happy Easter Clare, Alex, Millie and 👶
🐥🥚🐇🍫✝️
It looks like a car crash, but I'm happy for Lohan's return and that's why I watched her Xmas movie and will probably give this one a go too. I mean, it can't be worse than Wild Mountain Thyme (Dornan and Blunt) - I didn't even make it through the first 20 minutes of that. I think Irish Wish is one of those tongue in cheek romance films that knows its hammy. If nothing else, I'll just enjoy the backdrop of Ireland and how walkable the counties are 😆
I think Saint Brigid is this movie's version of the Hallmark Christmas Movie Santa Clause character
Im so glad you reviewed this, when i saw this come out i was like, this might be a hate crime 😂
Thanks for taking a hit for the rest of us Claire!
At least Leap Year gave us Amy Adams to look at.
Love her too! 👸🏼
Great review Clare! As a Southerner, I totally get the accent gripe. Just as I get the scenes that aren't possible in real life. I'm originally from Washington, DC, and it always makes me crazy to see the limo (it's always a limo) in one scene crossing Memorial Bridge, and in the very next scene it's passing in front of the Capitol building from the WRONG DIRECTION TO HAVE COME FROM MEMORIAL BRIDGE. OH, and they're always heading for someplace on Capitol Hill, despite having just past the Capitol, which is ON Capitol Hill. I mean....seriously. Can the filmmakers really not do 5 lousy minutes of research to get things right? Anyway. Rant off, and good blessings to you, Alex, Millie and the baby to be.
💯💯💯 When they don't even get their own country right there's small hope of portraying a foreign country accurately.
They're shaky on the geography of the island next door too sometimes. Kevin Costner, as Robin of Lockesley, makes landfall at the white cliffs of Dover, and tells Morgan Freeman they'll be at his father's house by nightfall. In Nottingham. On foot.
I mean it's nearly four hours *by car*.
Um, about the ploughing championships comment that you made. There is an annual sheep sheering competition in Mayo every July. The ploughing can also be anywhere in the country. It's just been in the Laois location for the last few years, but it's not fixed to there.
Thought it was pretty obvious I was being facetious but maybe not
Brilliantly produced/edited vid. Impressive. Clare, you know you're good :)
I love your videos, and this one was so much fun to watch! I hope you do more movie reviews! 😊
Happy to see you!!! I was hoping for a bump update. ❤❤❤
I watched that movie & fell asleep!!😂🤣😂🤣 Thanks for the update, I didn’t miss much. 😊
I've watched this review at least 10 times now. Brilliant roasting. I could go for more movie reviews like this, especially which Irish films you actually like.
just saw this and loved your video, your responses were great and i couldn't help laugh at moments
You should do more rants like this, it's brilliant! ❤.
I'm just going to jump in and say, there's also a sheep shearing festival in Galway in May if you want to go lol.
Keen 👀
Brilliant video, thanks for sharing!
I haven't seen it but I'm not surprised. 😂 I am happy Lindsay seems to be doing better on a personal level though. The industry must live in some sort of alternate universe. They don't even portray our own country, people and life accurately. I have no high expectations when it comes to foreign people and places. I'm just shocked they included Brigid (even if it was inaccurate) instead of their typical leprechaun dressed all in green. They're really branching out. 😂
I was blissfully unaware of this 'movie', and see I wasn't missing out on anything lol. Cheesy weak sauce with that formulaic hallmark style, and what's with the silly Irish stereotypes? I'm American, so wouldn't notice, but I'm glad you pointed out they just got up and walked to county Clare😂
I just love how you say film.
Fillum. lol
Speaking of accents I love how you say 'film'
Brilliant review!
Love the commentary
Thank you for your service!
Loved this!
They do the same with us Scots too 😂
And anything with Lyndsay Lohan in it is bound to be shit! 😂
Hearing you say "film" as "fill 'em" makes me finally realize why my mother said it that way.
Sorry. Random observation.
WE JUST SAY IT NORMALLY! I was visiting some friends in America and for some reason they found the way we pronounce film funny. Just accept it has two syllables.
@@lostcarpark I never found it silly but it did seem a bit odd because my mother was the only person I knew who pronounced it that way. When I was a kid, I just thought it was some old-timey, 1940s pronunciation that changed over time. As an adult I never thought of it much at all, but this video triggered the memory.
I'm never watching another film...until you review it. 🤗
Thanks Clisare! Fkn hysterical
You should've had MC do a cameo to set the record straight on what the festival in Laois is called. I've learned that if an Irish woman says to you, "I just want to talk", you should run, run away as fast as you can!
So glad to have found your review so I don't have to watch this shite! Thanks for taking one for the team!
I can finally log this in Letterboxd without watching the actual fillum. Tanks a million Clisare 😂 🙏
I'm guessing st brigid is some sort of mrs Doyle of the Fairy Tree on a Green screen community. Give them some credit though, that bus is from the early 50s at least 🤣I'm not sure what's worse, this or that mental thing on Netflix with Christopher Walken being some farmer type from the 30s or something. Thanks for the fun Clare.
Best film review ever!
This just made me want to watch it more 😭
My favorite film shot in Ireland is War of the Buttons.
Can't speak for anyone else, but I appreciate your tawts.
(I kid with love. I adore Irish accents.)
An excellent tirade Clare!
Thank you for the review I haven't watched it personally
loved the video very good.
You should do more movie reviews!
You got it right, Clisare! This is a Hallmark movie made for Americans and (any remaining) Lindsay Lohan fans. The only reason for the mother to be in the film is so they could hire Jane Seymour, who has been crazy popular in the states forever, and shoot all her scenes in half a day. Note she's apparently always at her desk or just a head on FaceTime. I'm sure she was well paid for her cameo appearance. Seymour's name does lend credibility to a Hallmark, er, Netflix movie. Sorry you had to endure the bad accent parade, Claire. The producers obviously didn't think Americans can tell the difference between an Irish, English or Welsh accent. That's why they produce junk like Irish Wish.
I was WONDERING was it just because they wanted her in it!! Wild storyline!! 😂😂
Ha! I watched it on St Patrick's Day as I was sick and couldn't go dance with my friends. Needed a little bit of a home fix. Yes, it was BAD, right up there with Halle Berry's Catwoman, but honestly what did we expect? I just love the scenery. Same reason I watched PS I Love You when it came out. Brigid definitely needs a new stylist!
Well, at least no-one burst into a spontaneous version of 'How are Things in Glocca Morra?'
Wow, you really took one for the team with that one.
I just WISH you had made this BEFORE my wife wanted me to watch this with her… although I took a great nap during that time.
I’m not Irish. I’d never even heard of Irish Wish but I love your channel so I’m here for it. And even us Americans can tell those are very bad accents. Cheers!
Clare, absolutely loved this takedown - ahem, excuse me, review - you really need to do more of the same! 💚Sláinte!
Top of the morning to ya, McDonald's shamrock shakes, and Darby O'Gill all around!
0/10 - not enough Lucky Charms and Banshees.
I like how you says film 😂🤣...philim thats what i hear....i love this idea...more movie reviews 😁😁😁 this was best
100% agree with all your comments, I just wish I had seen this before I got talked into watching it on March 16th :(
Loved your review, Clare! It is unfortunate that she didn't catch a Lilac bus from the Knock airport. They missed a chance to do Maeve Binchy proud. Big miss IMHO in a film about writers. 😂😂😂
Thank you so much for watching this so I don't have to. I think I've suffered enough.
"Filum"...Love it 😁
It was a bit of fun. 😂 bain taithneamh as! 😅😅😅
This review is hilarious 😂. I watched the film knowing it would be a stereotype from start to finish. Why can't Non Irish directors ever check that Irish accents are actually accurate 😅
There is no way that an Irish Director would allow such bad Irish accent to be in a film.
I realised from watching it that I still love Lindsay though which is brilliant!
Yeah she’s a queen 👸🏼
When I was watching this movie I was thinking “ wow! Funny how all the folk with foreign accents in this ‘fil-em’ sound just like my favorite RUclipsr Clisair Claire”
LOL. Just havin’ a crack! (I’m allowed to say all that because ancestry says I’m 23% Irish!) ☘️ Now I’m just trying to figure out how we’re related, you and I, since I read somewhere all that hail from the Emerald Isle share common bloodlines.
…watch the remake of Roadhouse. Set here in my islands of the Florida Keys. We locals pretty much feel the same about roadhouse as you do about Irish Wish. 😂
Cheers for that, don't think i would have watched it anyway, but thanks for the funny warning. 😃 Fanacht sábháilte. ✌🏻
Jaysus, this sounds like a painful one to watch, I'll pass. Thanks Clare 😂
Oh my goodness this was amazingly hilarious I always wonder how accurate movies set in Ireland are 😊 I see a new series on the horizon Leap Year next pretty please🎉
STOP IT! 🤣
I enjoy your editorial, I figured it was pretty bad… 😂
That's for watching it for us. At least there is nice views of the country side in it from what I see here.
I'm Irish and had zero intention of watching this Yank flavoured Paddywhackery!
Wait, a big green 60's bus with lovely green seats ... now I'm kinda getting into it ... I tried watching the sponsors ad but I lost interest very quickly and made a cuppa coffee instead ... I've met Saint Bridget so many times when I'm out on rural walks, I usually greet her with "Alright there Bridie, what's the story? Out pickin' mushrooms as usual ye fookin' animal?" ... Mayo looks a lot like Enniskerry, County Wicklow (because it is, I think all towns in "Irish" movies are Enniskerry to be honest) ...
Filum, just like Scots
A lot of people think that people from New Orleans have a deep, southern accent, but we don't. The make-up of that port city gives it a dialect that sounds more like Brooklyn-ese. I was in a play where I was an Irish cop. I played him with a heavy brogue, and then I realized he was born in America and likely wouldn't have a brogue. I kept it anyway. It was funnier. 😉
"Wildlife photographer"
1. Not with that camera.
2. How is a sheep shearing event wildlife?
Also, where were they flying to Knock from? Lourdes?
Great review. Glad I don't have to watch the film.
As a long time fan of the Facts channel and the taste testing videos, I'm a shocked to discover you are Irish
What if you dubbed over their voices with real Irish voices from people you known?
"I just want to talk" she says as she breaks out a cricket bat. "Just a casual chat" (starts practice swinging). "I just have a few questions" (swings at a nearby American tourist's kneecaps).
How come i had absolutely zero desire to watch this until i heard your review??? 😅
My wife was actually given a St Brigids cross in a shop the other week, absolutely mental
No way 😂🤣
Mine too but we do live in Co. Kildare so she is our local saint
well... I mean good on Lindsey Lohan for getting on her feet and getting work but alas I shall pass on this one. thanks for watching it first and taking one for the team :)
From Galway myself and omfg😂😂😂😂😂😂 basically it’s a hallmark film 🤦♀️🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣the accent were bad ffs your review is spot on 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 fuken knock is international 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
You should do a review of the 2010 movie Leap Year
She met st bridget in glendalough county Wicklow the other side of the country from mayo.
😂
I could not finish.
I only watched it because you were going to 😂😅. It WAS so bad it was good and the actor that plays the photographer is a cutie ❤
Yeah in fairness he is alright 😍
If they couldn’t be bothered to get Irish actors, they couldve hired consultants at the very least 😭 (and I’m 🇺🇸. so there’s that!)
I saw the trailer for this film and thought it felt Hallmark Channel-esque. A Rom-Com with extra sap and cheese. Now I don't need to watch it - unless my wife really wants to.
Decent Irish films I liked: “Once”
“Intermission”
Banshees…
WHEN YOU GO to Ireland, please go tour Glasnevin Cemetery. I recently learned one, at least one, of my ancestors are there.
Then go to Canvanaugh’s (Gravedigger’s Pub)
