Great description always :) So now I understand the color option to use different colors in coloured art surfaces!

It would be a better cool feature if I could have an option where I could use my stylus as an xacto knife (brush option) and "cut" into the digital pixels (virtual cardboard) and treat it as digital arts & crafts.

Rebelle 7 has a lot of bugs / issues at the moment and Escape Motions need to sort these out ASAP. And It still doesn't have CMYK colour capability yet and these things really need sorting out and adding rather than any new gimmicks etc. This is a shame as this could be great but really needs Escape Motions to work on this!

There are thousands of CMYK converters on the internet...that and a CMYK palette is all I need.

I think they know that, you have not to write it under every video

Photoshop has it built in so you can paint CMYK directly in the software and see what your colours look like live etc. So why shouldn't Rebelle be able to do the same? This isn't a big ask?

Not sure what you mean, but either way they need to solve these issues and the more people speak up on mass the better the chances that Escape Motions will listen and act.

The main selling point of Rebelle is how true to life its digital versions of traditional media are.
In order to have realistic interaction of graphite and oil pastel with paper, you need the heightmaps.
Rebelle 7's pencils are MUCH better than the old ones.
In order to have realistic brush trails for charcoal, you need secondary brush patterns.
In order to have realistic oil impasto gloss, you need to be able to render extremely glossy paint (metallics).
I can assure you, the gimmicks are all just the building-blocks-turned-feature for the important stuff they're building. This is a common (and rather shrewd) development tactic.
There's something to be said for the inclusion of additional color spaces (OKLab, anyone?), but they certainly aren't wasting their time here.

Very cool tech and I've already purchased some papers. Am interested in making my own. Is this process publicly documented anywhere?

There is a possibility to create your papers. You can import custom papers in PNG file format to Rebelle via the 'Select Canvas' window. These papers need to be tileable so that there are no seams visible when creating high-resolution files.

Can one add more than one paper? Or can you make the paper into a structure to add at a later stage in your painting?

    • @richardhaas1989

You can change papers all throughout the painting. Each "paper" affects the painting that is done while it is there. Change to canvas and now what ever you paint will have canvas texture. It doesn't affect earlier or later work. One VERY brilliant decision by Rebelle. YES, you can import any image you have into the "paper" directory. I took a closeup of a limestone step out back and I use it all the time.

@@richardhaas1989 but can you use papers for example a collage?

    • @richardhaas1989
      @richardhaas1989 8 месяцев назад

@@robzartworx That's outside Rebelle's bailiwick. I'd make separate drawings and save each as an image. Import those images back in on separate layers and select and move them around. OR don't draw anything and save image files of just the paper, canvas etc. Cut and paste those. Import that crazy quilt image of textures into the PAPERS directory as a png. Rebelle will respect those bumps an flow the brush strokes around them. Papers are just tileable pngs.

@@richardhaas1989 ok I understand. I don’t really do collages it was just an example. But one can import one’s own PNG’s on a separate layer and change blend modes, selection etc. but you answered my question thank you 🙏🏻

At the moment the desktop versions of the software are compatible with Windows and macOS only. We plan to release an iOS version of Rebelle in the future but do not have a timeframe for that yet.
