Same here. I remember playing some kind of reanimator when Odyssey and Onslaught block were legal in standard. I binned an Akroma, Angel of Wrath using a wild mongrel, and then reanimated her with breath of life or zombify turn 4. Arcanis was the chef's kiss in that deck....
@@Darkeep12 Pfft. Maybe YOU didn't. Akroma was a warrior angel, a hero among other angels and human people. Arcanis, in his own words: "I am Knowledge. I am Arcanis". He was also a pit fighter. @26:15 you should have waited for the elf to be get its counters so you could have wiped both. And @47:00 you could have grabbed a voth token instead of swinging with the bat.
Being on the opposite side quite often, I keep playing cards because I assume my opponent has some counterplay and I want insurance. If they really have no counterplay, they should just concede. Otherwise, I _have_ to play on, because I could very well be throwing the game by being hasty.
@@therealax6 My point was being tapped out. I *can't* play anything, but I'm willing to give you the satisfaction of landing your big hit. But if you start wasting time I concede.
It's hard to believe that Arena isn't rigged when you're at 1 life and your opponent just happens to have Phoenix Chick... which, by the way, hasn't been played by anyone in like 6 months.
Im thankful for CGB uploading on holidays despite having every excuse to not too and for the new content hes giving us that isn't just gameplay but the worst commander show and the podcasts. Truly the one of best of one, the true blue mage
Honestly i have been laughing all the way during the last match, my best pal had an obsession with hidestugu and kairi so i just related to you and your frustration. Its honestly one of my favorite cards of the more recent sets but its so frustrating when they just highroll. My friend used to do it with explosive singularity and some siren/batspam it was so mean and so fast
Came here just to share one of my recent wins, go 2nd with mono black control, pregame actions leyline of the void, opponent highlights the card for 5 seconds, surrenders. Get the "Did you had fun?" Answer yes.
What about Teferi Temporal pilgrim? Those spirits grow with every card drawn and can tap for draw three and attack because of vigilance. Tef makes a new one every turn and grows exponentially 🤯
@@khaliljuba +3, +6, +9... increases at a constant rate (3 more each turn, 3 being the constant), not an exponential rate. I know that's nitpicking, but hey.
@@LaurentCassaro he is specifically talking about teferi growning exponentially, if we are talking about the card draw then yeah sure, it is increasing at a constant rate, but teferi will gain loyalty faster and faster, which is the definition of exponential
That's because Standard is toxic. Over on Reddit I see posts complaining all day: "People are playing so much removal, how do I counter that?" B*tch, if it weren't for mono-red (+spawns), decks that aren't 75% early removal would be viable again. Don't hate the immune-system but the disease.
As far as I can see in game 2, there were some misplays First, you could have waited until the Gix's Command resolved to kill the elf opp gave counters to Second, you could have activated the map before drawing 3 Third you could have activated Kaito twice by returning to hand and replaying, letting you Surveil and Tap down and thus stay alive
Every time I see mono red or red/white burn I just skip until the next game. They are all “do they have enough damage to kill him by turn 5 or not?”, and it almost never matters what CGB plays. The current aggro lists are the least interesting decks to watch in the history in MTG imo

Arcanis reminds me of Magic the Gathering Battlegrounds
I love cards like Agathas that make you think about different ways of combining cards
That last game was so unbelievably unlucky it felt like cheating from the opponent.
Arena "Luck" at its finest.
Thank you for taking the time to record the extra video; wish you, Gina and all your family a wonderful rest of your Thanksgiving

I can and I am 😭

I was worried about that 😅
If the last game wouldve happened in an off recorded game , you know it woudnt have been family friendly anymore 😂
I'm thankful for the concede button, for when I'm tapped out and the opponent has lethal on board but continues to play another dozen cards anyway.

you shouldve killed the elf once the gixs command resolved
Same thought. That 100% lost that game
Might have coat him the game.
At least the Abyssal Harvester got some play, Happy Turkey day CGB.
"Are they thinking about cottaging me?" That shouldn't have made me laugh.
Hadn't seen a Feldon in so long I almost forgot it was still in Standard.
He spaced his breeches out exactly 14 cards apart xD
Such a cool deck. This one hums! A cleannn cauldron deck 😃😃
The only thing I like more than watching CGB win... is watching CGB suffer. 10/10 video
thanks for the thanksgiving content!
some cauldron shenanigans? hell yea im 'in !
That last game was one of the most disgusting series of topdecks Ive seen in a while
Good game CGB, no one expects a hasty worm!
Go to 47:54 for Absolute Cinema!

hope your Thanksgiving was happy.. especially with the Lions win.
that last game was insane
love the videos, hate how i know i wont try these decks because card acquisition sucks unless you pay lol

That last game was wild, like both decks were ordered. Insanely bad luck.
Always scry/surveil before you draw. You need something to answer their board.
Damn I felt that last game lol
I like to think the card drawer hates obscene card draw as much as I do.
It's so weird seeing a tapped Planeswalker.
Dour port mage + pond prophet + splash portal = ancestral ribbit
yeah that last game is kind of what kills any desire I have to take this game seriously.
lol. last game was a roller-coaster.
Well at least a few of the removal cards do not require Mythic or Rare wildcards (or luck) and there are a few basic lands 😅
