No concerns about termites with the deck posts set into the soil. I have watched everyone of your cabin build videos today. You both did an amazing job filming and explaining what you are doing each step. Thank You & God Bless!
Great job Danny, a true professional job. I liked the way you used the tractor to help do the job. I know Miss Wanda will truly enjoy her rocker and the peace and quiet of the porch.
The only thing superior to your carpentry skills is your judgement. Good choice letting Mama get the rocking bench. Like my Dad used to say, when Mamas happy we're all happy!
I wish I was in the deep south this vary moment . I'll be driving down highway 49 in February. I can't wait to see my mom . It's been 5 or 6 years to many. Keep up the good work Danny . Your place is beautiful .
Trying to find ways to save even more to get out of the city we live. I know it isn't safe but promised God we would not go into debt ever again. House we live in not worth anything since the area went to mostly renter who move out in the middle of the night. Grow as much food as I can with the space I have. Not allowed chickens or anything else like that. Praying it is God's plan to help me find a way out soon. God's blessing to you and yours
Great to see you building your dream and having one last major build. You do such a Great job, I sure wish there were more builders that take the care you use when building! Can't wait to see it and I'll be jealous that it's not mine but so Happy for you and Wanda you both work very hard for what you have.
Wonderful to see someone that takes so much pride in what they are doing! You are very meticulous making sure everything is done right, and even over done! I know it is not easy building a cabin, but you make it look easy! That rocker looks great. I think it was a wise decision to get it now. Remember, happy wife equals happy life! ;)
Great job brother. I love how you notched the wood into the posts. Looks like its really coming along. Havent been able to watch for some time now because of weather and technical difficulties. Now that we are back up and running , we will try to catch more episodes. Best wishes and we hope you have a wonderful holiday season. From Alaska , Jason & Theresa
Loving the porch steps. Very well thought out & done.. as is this entire cabin build. Sweet using the space for the potato harvest. Wonderful porch area also! Tis a pleasure seeing all of this happening. Yes Wanda that is a wonderful porch rocker choice. :)
Couldn't help but notice you are using a blue tractor again. What happened to the red Kubota? With no tractor or post hole digger, I have to set my posts by digging with a 4ft crowbar and scooping the dirt out into a bucket by hand I set quite a few that way, hard work, but it does do the job. Love watching your technique, you are quite the master, Danny.
Danny I now believe in your saying "Work Smarter not Harder" & you have just proved that to me putting those posts in :):) Is building your trade ? you are so precise & knowledgeable with building- Great Job so far & Great video. Cheers Denise-Australia
Are they ceder posts Just wondering, I know someone who used pressure treated posts on there privacy fence and they rotted through in 3 yrs. They said they wish they would of used ceder or burned the wood. Really nice work. Looks good

Looking greaaaaat! What is the extra add on room to be used as?
Eventually a bathroom.
Lovely looking porch, shame houses in UK don't have them.
Are they ceder posts

they are treated there is a recall on treated lumber from 3 years ago. i had a lot of mine replaced for free.
Danny, do you set your posts at one and a half feet or deeper and do you do anything for the bottom of the posts to prevent rot over time?
2 1/2 to 3 feet deep. Corner post gravel in bottom of bolts l hole, set post and pour cement around it.
@@DeepSouthHomestead Thank You very much.
good morning
Clean job but
what about building inspections down your way.
There are no inspection's on off grid.
I thought you had a kubota these days.
We do. Part of the porch was started when we had the LS and it was finished after we got the Kubota.
I'm surprised you haven't dug a root cellar...
We already have a cellar. We built one after Hurricane Katrina.
@@DeepSouthHomestead I figured you did I'd just like to see it. I love your common sense attitude...
Beautiful job!
