I grew up in the 70s and I talked my dad into buying me an army jacket with liner. It was heavy and very warm. A few years later I joined the Army and did four years. It was a great experience.
Because I am disabked and do not get to go out much, I have always wanted to see these kind of tours. Thank you very much for taking the time to make this video and share! Warm regards, DP.

If you are into vintage militaria, especially WWII, then go to WWII Weekend at Rockford's Midway Village! Held on about the third weekend in September, AWSOME! Vendors galore and one of the biggest WWII re-enactments in the USA.
That's a well-organised, well-stocked military surplus store. Wish the ol' Larada's in Mesa, Arizona still existed. It was much like your excellent video of the Rockford facility. Yep, I could spend all morning or all afternoon there & come away wanting to return. I grew up in Belvidere, Illinois, but the city I called home has undergone a sizeable cultural change. Thx for sharing the tour. Many "shopping" videos are often difficult in which to remain interested, but yours had me wishing yours was much longer. Great job!
Thanks I'm glad you enjoyed the video. My wife even said the place was very organized compared to a lot of surplus stores we have been in. I'm headed back their next month can't wait. Thank you for watching 😎👍💯💯
Yes he is. His help we're great too. Ya it's a awsome store, and they have one in eldgen that is just as nice, but a kittle smaller. Thanks for watching 😎👍💯💯
When I was a kid dad took me to one in our city all the time. We used to find all kinds of real military surplus from all over the world and from all eras, even some U.S. WW1 stuff. I recently went back to the same store a couple days ago and it was about 85% Chinese made rothco type junk and cheap fleamarket grade fantasy knives. It seems a lot of the surplus stores are going that way. I miss days of seeing 4x4x4 boxes full of helmets, another 4x4x4 size box full of pouches, another 4x4x4 box full of uniform pants and so on.
I could imagine those were some good memories🤗. Ya I can't stand seeing rothco or fox outdoors in surplus stores🤢🤢🤢🤢. Specially when they have more of the Chinese than the real deal.
Wow that is crazy you never had or heard of a p-51 military can opener I guess its because of a lot of my family being in the military I am 46 and been using one since I was 5 I love them I still have one is about 60 years old and it's never been sharpened and still opens cans like nothing
Good informative video. I dealt in military surplus back in the 1980’s. I think I have one of those west German border guard jackets you were looking at in the store.
None of these surplus stores are worth a can of beans anymore. Sunny Surplus is where it was at😂 Need G.I bandolers and ammo clips w/ the magazine clip back for 10 sets.
Man, back in the 70s-early 80s, they had some really cool stuff from WW2, Korea and of course Vietnam……lot of it was OLD and pretty cheap back then. We used to hit the 2 big ones in Sacramento…..good memories.
That's nice, but my idea of a surplus store is boxes and boxes of "stuff," not one or two items being sold at rip-off prices but items piled up just as they came from the government . I can remember real surplus stores that would put this place to shame.
Ya surplus stores are vanishing more and more. This one was really neat to see in person. Hopefully will get to go their sometime. The fleet farm serch is sad though. Hope the best. Thanks for watching
Grew up with a couple of Army surplus stores. One was in town, mostly surplus clothing and foot wear. Some gear etc. The second was favorite. Out by the edge of town. The smell of surplus canvas gear, canreens, all sorts of surplys stuff, folding shovels, helmet linere and one day had a new trash can filled with Italian carbines with folding bayonets. Actual real rifles. $1. 50 each. Gee how I wish I travel back in time. In Topeka Kansas found a trash can filled with " cos " thick coating 1917 Enfields $ 2.50 each.
Wow...that is insane. Surplus had gone up so much so much in price now. Used to be way affordable now people are making a lot of money on it. Thanks for watching and sharing your experience 👍
My home town ! Sad to see the rapid decline of the city! The only good things left is my Guilford High Vikings , Cheap Trick and a great looking Army Surplus !
You should have gone through much slower and shown more stuff. I enjoyed looking at such a nice surplus store. Here in NC ours are all ratty and way overpriced while the owners are usually cocky buttheads. Being an old jarhead, Nam era, I am constantly on the look for high quality stuff. I loved the pick/shovel combo from the mid 60's you showed. I would love to have one in that nice of condition. I used to use one when I went out gold prospecting out west. There used to be a rare folding shovel with the shovel and pick issued to the military. It was very short lived. I don't know if it was a special purpose unit or what. I would imagine if picking rock, damage to the screw mechanism might occur or damage somewhere else. It was great for leveraging items like doors, windows and etc. The type you picked up did a fair job at picking rock veins and mineral seams in hard rock. We Marines love our gear. I own almost all of the Becker knife models, they are superior to K-Bar and even made by K-Bar from a proprietary 1095 steel . Great combat, rescue, survival and utility knives. They are very reasonable in cost and can get you in and out of anything. It is said you can field strip an old Buick with one, especially the BK-2 knife ! Well, I hope you revisit the store with a more comprehensive video or videos and maybe old Dolph will let you video him for your audience, why he might even ask you to be in one of his movies. Semper Fi, do or die ! Aoorah or old school Arrugah !

I did find a RARE USGI cold weather canteen cup their for $25, and that was a absolute bargain, but some of their other items in my opinion we're over priced for sure. Thanks for watching 🤗👍
No firearms?
@@Cacowninja I didn't see any😩
Surplus stores in Tulsa suck
I've been to some that we're not all that great. I never can stand it when they are stocked with ROTHCO and FOX brand stuff.
No offense but it’s not really what I know as a kid ,too glitzy.
No offense taken😉. More surplus for me then. Thanks for watching
Too much clothes showing.
MANY of the items seen were WAY over priced . No thanks .
Ya some are. Seems to be like that a lot anymore and online, but there are still deals out there. I did find a cold weather canteen cup here for $25 and that was a steal and it's even more rare than the canteen. Also found some east German pants for under $20 also. I did some digging to find those though. 😬😩😩😩
