It’s wild to me that people said this episode was boring. These are the conversations in elegant rooms I need in my Thrones. To quote Viserys: "this is the stuff, Lionel!"
Those are the people that want every episode to be Battle of the Bastards. Real ones know that this episode is peak Thrones! I loved this episode so much!

Everything else is inside in dark corridors at one castle or another. Dark, miserable castles talking about dark, miserable stuff. It's like Trainspotting without even any super-fun heroin to lighten the mood 😬
The Duel of the Cargyll Twins is immortalized in Westerosi legend as the ultimate display of honor and duty. In the book _A Game of Thrones,_ Bran recalls the story when thinking about famous Kingsguard members and, in _A Clash of Kings,_ Sansa uses the legend to demonstrate that a man crying does not make him weak. Olenna Tyrell also has two twin guards named Erryk and Arryk after the famous kingsguard members. And yes, that means that Arryk and Erryk Cargyll have been a part of the lore of the ASoIaF/GoT universe since the very beginning.
I didn't know that! I stopped reading after the first book when I realized Martin probably wouldn't finish them. When they're done, I'll read them immediately. I do enjoy learning stuff about them though. Thanks for the info!
I hate Cole, but the guy acted the _hell_ out of that scene where Aegon named him Hand. You 100% could see that he was thinking about the fact that he's low born, and now he's _Hand of the King._ That kinda stuff just doesn't happen in Westros. And he expressed that incredibly well
The spittake was marvelous and delightfully mischievous, glad Jay is fine and back! The way Alicent is progressively treating her children more like her father treated her, and their whole family is making problems worse due to inability to share their feelings and help each other is tragic. And I love how almost everybody can see, no matter what "team" (if any) you are on, that granting Cole the position was a HORRIBLE idea.
this episode was insane, the acting of basically everyone was top notch, but especially Phia Saban as Helaena at the funeral was heartbreaking. Maybe it's because I'm not doing well in crowds either but her having that panic attack was so well done! The twin fight, Rhaenyra (who sometimes looked like Helaena in some shots, I guess on purpose) and Daemon argueing, basically everything Rhys Ifans does as Otto Hightower, and Fabien Frankel's Criston Cole, who I almost love to hate as much as Lena Headey's Cersei, I love all of it. This show is peak GoT
The Cargyll twin who survived had to die for the simple reason that he was now a Kinslayer, and in the world of A Song Of Ice And Fire/Game of Thrones, no crime is worse than that. He knows hes damned to an eternity of pain for it when hes dead, but he has a life of it ahead as well beforehand, unless... Also the dragon at the beach is Seasmoke, Laenor's dragon in season 1, yes. Make of it what you will that Addam of Hull sees it fly overhead.
9:35 I took this moment as Aegon recognizing that Heleana needs comfort, but he's still grieving himself (and not very emotionally capable), so he walks off instead of trying to help. Alicent does the same when she see's Aegon crying later on.
Emma and Matt do so MUCH with that argument scene, you can really see every emotion on their faces and in their eyes; I was truly scared Daemon was going to lay hands on Rhaenyra again, and the way Matt adds a shaking to his gestures before caressing her face, angry at the accusation he only used her (_does_ he love her? that has always been the question...they seem so connected sometimes). And at the same time Rhaenyra is having to come to grips with the fact that she _wanted_ to revenge herself on the Greens, and in a way, she _asked_ for this. It was just that Daemon might (or might not) have taken it an extra step further. Speaking of Emma's acting, you can also SEE the moment in Rhaenyra's eyes when she truly recognizes Mysaria/The White Worm, and a little jealousy too when she pops off with, "It doesn't serve me to free you." Emma is a helluva an actor. And then there's Mr. Ifans spitting hypocritical rage at Aegon as Otto Hightower. He fed those chickens, and now they have come home to roost in his own backyard.
Aegon is 21, Helaena is 19, Aemond is 18. THEY ARE ALL BABIES. something something generational trauma rules this whole fam. Also Viserys was an absolute terrible ruler. He did NOTHING to protect any of his children, to protect and bolster Rhaenyra, to provide for his sons. He did nothing to stop the fighting, he just dug his head into the sand. Paddy was amazing in the role, but all the homies need to hate Milquetoast Mid Viserys Targ
Sorry, I have to disagree. Viserys did pretty well until his illness made him too feeble. He didn't have the energy to give the care to his children with Alicent, that he had given to Rhaenyra. But everyone is entitled to their own view of it.
The biggest mistake Viserys made was trusting Otto and then taking him back as Hand after he knew he was treacherous. Yes he could have spent more time with his children. I think he knew his sons were monsters. He probably realized too late his "dragon dreams" were a bad omen not to have any more sons
You made a few mistakes. Yes Aegon is 21 (or 20). But Helaena is 18 and Aemond is 15. Jace is probably 15 as well while Luke was 14. Daeron is at most 14 unless they made a more drastic change. This is the show ages btw, not books.
Guys, guys, this it not a show made by D&D. Condal and the others are very careful what they show and what they don't... a lot less vulgarity, a lot less nudity compared to GOT and yeah, they softened the events with the young prince. It is an infamous event remembered centuries later for a reason.
Yes Dragonstone is about 400 miles away from King’s Landing. It’s an island along with Driftmark in between Sharppoint and Crackclaw Point at the entrance to Blackwater Bay. King’s Landing being at the mouth of the Blackwater Rush at the furthest inland point of the bay.
I love how the last episode grief brought most of Team Black closer together, and in this episode grief has torn Team Green further apart. The age of Aegon is kinda weird as it doesn’t make sense with the timeline. Aegon is 21 and very clearly born at least a year after Rhaenyra was crowned heir, yet in last ep of season 1 she says that it was nearly 20 years ago, so that doesn’t make sense lol.

The Rhanyra-Daemon conversation and Otto going off on Aemon were fantastic scenes; the sort they submit for awards shows. I like that this show still has the ability to give us those scenery-chewing moments as well as the oft-gratuitous gore.
Dragonstone is very close to King's Landing. The Targaryen princes and princesses used to race their dragons from the Dragonpit in King's Landing to Dragonstone and back with little effort. An afternoon, maybe.

Okay I am pretty sure Rhaenyra's Erryk was the one with the cut leg. He got stabbed by his brother, Arryk, who was sent there to kill her. I think Arryk couldn't handle what he did and regretted siding with the Greens so he apologized and then killed himself. This episode was insane. Great reaction as always my dudes!
I could not keep track of who was who. But that sacrifice works whichever one "won" and then fell on his sword. Either would be dealing with the trauma of killing his twin. Erryk would also know Rhaenyra could never be sure. Arryk would also be burdened by dishonoring his knighthood because of the subterfuge. It's good writing because we don't have to know which brother fell on his sword. Both would have reasons to do so.
According to the showrunner Erryk is the brother who won the fight, then killed himself. Either way is powerful though, but I think they were going for the angle of he just had to kill his own brother and was torn up the grief of that, as well as the fact that kinslaying is very much frowned upon in this world. Plus the fact that Arryk even got that close at all could also bring him shame. But regardless. That shit was heartbreaking.
@@yetibeardson1168 In the books it's said that they both died on the other's sword, but as that's only from the perspective of people 150-ish years later, it's probable that the legend has taken on a life of its own and gotten embellished beyond all recognition. And once during the War of Five Kings when Stannis's fleet blockaded the bay, creating similar food shortages in KL that resulted in those riots where Joffrey got cowshit thrown at his head. Otto is aware that the food is running out, which is why the funeral procession was a chance to get the common folk on Aegon's side and prevent them from blaming him for their impending hunger. So naturally he was upset when Aegon fucked that up immediately.

Yes,dragon stone and kings landing aren’t far from each other. Literally I think, a small bay separating them both. It would take maybe 2 days on ship to get to dragonstone. Probably not that long on dragon back.
As I saw it Ser Arryk (assasin) was the one who lived and killed his brother Ser Erryk. As told in the books there's multiple accounts as to what happened and how the dual of the twins ended. which is why the show relies so heavily on that implication that you cant tell whos who. What the writers wanted us to know is that it doesn't even matter which is which because all that mattered in the end was they both die. Theres a certain element of poetry that cant really be replicated visually as opposed to reading and allowing our minds to create the visualization of it all ourselves since our minds are more creative than our eyes alone. But either way I felt like this episode was so well written and just absolutely well acted by all parts.
Feel your pain. I remember holding my sleeping newborn in my arms when the first episode of season 1 aired. Some things just cant be looked at the same when you have a child.
Cole's plan for Eric to pretend to be other Eric seems dumb on its face, but it almost worked. If he hadn't hesitated, he could've killed Rhaenyra. Also super excited to see more of Hugh the blacksmith - and Adam is right, Warrior is amazing. Hope it eventually gets renewed for another season.
It's kind of amazing that if almost anyone other than Aegon sat the Iron Throne right now, Daemon's retaliation would have already sealed the question of succession. Instead, we get escalating stupidity and violence. HOTD is doing really well so far as just a straight-up tragedy.

“The white cloak is a symbol of our purity” Cole saying that made me literally laugh lol, and then to question him where he was lol!!! Dude you were banging Alicent instead of doing your job !!!! Love you guys ❤
Great now I have to watch the video again for the algorithm. lol.
The Homestar Runner mentions on the channel is heartwarming.
If you wanted to stop reacting to the show, I would not blame you, appreciate you gutting it out Jay
OK, that Dewey decimal bit got me, Jay. Damn.
Anyone else wanted to know more about the dimmer knob? 🤔
Reupload gang
The dragon seen from the seashore is Seasmoke, Laenor's dragon.
“Two Erics enter…..ummmm damn.”
Lmao omg when I sing the theme song I do it in meows too. That was so relatable ❤
Yes,dragon stone and kings landing aren’t far from each other. Literally I think, a small bay separating them both. It would take maybe 2 days on ship to get to dragonstone. Probably not that long on dragon back.
I adore how supportive Adam is with Jay's sensitive moments
Hey Peaches! All right, time to get simultaneously furious and be filled with grief. ❤😢😢
"I am sorry what else she supposed to do" love you Jay😊❤
loved the episode thanks guys!~
These two guys are my favorite people to watch tv with
the Grey Dragon is Seasmoke
Alan the robot from Raised by Wolves
10:31 that was excellent 🤌🏿🤌🏿

The fact that Melinda had to be told to run out and get help, she would be FIRED!
Hawk Tuah..........😂😂
Thank you Adam for the laugh. I had to rewind and watch again. 😂😂 This by far was the best episode this season so far
Definitely not a boring episode. The script and the performances were cooking this episode 🔥🔥🔥🔥
I love watching with pReview'd, eating tons of food, HotD is a win... AND TWINS 🎶 🤘 🎸
And there people want to be like book
Crispy Cole showed Alicent his “kings hand”. woof.
if the spittake is gone.... we riot
Amazing acting, direction and cinematography!! This episode was great. 🙌
I believe Helana was seeing ashes reflecting King Landing's burning.....
Kinda wild that HotD and The Acolyte both did a twin swap in the same week! 👯♀️
Adam - Hawk Tuah !!!
That spit take.😂 You guys are the best!
Do we get the full reading of the instruction manual over on Patreon?
Man.... the Doctor is scary ...
2 Eric’s enter 1 Eric leaves…😬 yeah so about that 😅😂
Whoever has Jay’s heart, please take care of this man. ❤❤❤
This is the episode where I started to understand Otto😂
It's kind of amazing that if almost anyone other than Aegon sat the Iron Throne right now, Daemon's retaliation would have already sealed the question of succession. Instead, we get escalating stupidity and violence. HOTD is doing really well so far as just a straight-up tragedy.
I was right there with you guys thinking the stitch work was flimsy. #thoughtsandprayersforJay
His father worked hard on the model not his grandfather
