Like bro it's not like everyone sees the queens face as much as we do they prob just have a vague idea of what she looks like, and if the hair is covered there's no way some random would be able to recognize her off of face alone.

@@pnut3844able That's not true at all, even the episode itself tells us that commoners don't know what the royals look like, aside from them having white (well, supposedly "silver") hair. Even on the first season, when Daemon takes Rhaenyra to town, no one recognizes her, and she only covers her hair.
@@Xionize Not the common folk but surely the Gold Cloaks would. Also it's just really bad setup on several levels. Making Rhaenyra "peaceful" unintentionally has made all the trauma she endured in the lead-up feel pointless if this is the turning point because neither of them should really even want to talk to each other. Also why didn't Alicent call the guards after she left? Wasn't her goal "Aegon on the throne with Rhaenyra bending the knee?"
This scene should have happened last season or at a future point in time when their mindsets are different.
It's so nice to have a dark scene but still be able to see what the actual fuck is happening

HoTD is still in it’s infancy basically and it’s already improved and polished certain things from GoT and the show has easily done things far better than most of the last few seasons of GoT down to the writing and cinematography. HoTD obviously isn’t meant to be a replacement or direct comparison to a sprawling fantasy opera like GoT, but the intimacy of the family drama/timeperiod in HoTD as well as how they portray House Targaryen at it’s peak, and it’s still going strong and we have 5 episodes left
@@logan-pe4rm that was Martin's whole issue with the books. The guy literally wrote thousands of characters and has written himself into a corner. Especially after the backlash from his HORRIBLE ending in GOT.

So far, HotD is doing a much better job with their "Not In The Book" additions/adaptations than GoT did.
Because GRRM is a writer on the show.
He had little to nothing to do with GOT especially the last 3 seasons.
@@Persephone_Personified GRRM isnt a writer. Just an executive. Plus in this season specifically, Ryan said George is less involved. This is their own story, George already sold the rights.
It's also easier to adapt. F&B is a historical book stating events here and there, whereas ASOIAF is a whole story on its own.
In general but Septa Rhanyera and Dragonpit Rhaenys are late GoT level writing.

something i think this episode was good at was letting us know where rhaenyra and alicent stand with each other right now. how complex it all is in that they do still love each other and want to get through to the other but there’s so much in the way of that. i read an article about this episode and they said ‘it feels like each time alicent and rhaenyra are shut down, they think of each other, as if they’re wishing that their closest friend up until this point was with them to defend them. even amidst family deaths that they believe the other guilty for, these two are still yearning for a relationship that is impossible in the world they find themselves in, and it makes it all the more tragic.’ and i really saw that in their interaction this episode

Between HotD and The Boys, Jay is going to be an expert on how the lighting system works.
The two Houses fighting at the start were Blackwoods and Brackens. They don't really need a reason to fight each other. Just a place.
Also, the Blackwood was Samwell. We saw him last season. He was the eight year old who gutted the teenage Bracken who kept insulting him when the young Lords were courting young Rhaenyra.

In the books she only takes 3 eggs. One hatches and becomes Rhaena's dragon, Morning (they are evidently therefore not Dany's). There is another case of 3 dragon eggs being stolen and sold in the East well before these events, and it is commonly accepted those eggs are Dany's. This now means there are 3 OTHER dragon eggs out in the wild in the East in the show, in addition to these 3 eggs that the showrunners have spoiled are not going to hatch.

In the book, young Viserys and Aegon's boat is attacked, and they're believed to be dead and the eggs lost at the bottom of the sea. What could happen here, would be that Dany's eggs will be lost, but Rhaena will manage to save one, the blue one, which will later on hatch as Morning, her dragon. It's one of the theories, the other one being that Morning will not exist (which pisses fans off, because it's literally an important dragon and a very cute one at that) but Rhaena will rather try and attach herself to an already existing/alive dragon, thus "stealing" the role of another character who would then not appear in the show (which, also pisses fans off lol)
It's good for Rhaenyra's motivations to know the truth of what her father said but it really doesn't matter in the grand scheme. Viserys council (Green council) would have pushed for Aegon as King regardless. Otto pretty much assured it. War has been inevitable.
Also aside for like a minute in that convo where have we seen Rhaenyra doubt her dad's stance on the inheritance?

Jay's right. The sets, costumes, CGI, the dragons, music, it's all great but you need the real stuff, the storytelling and the dialogues. Otherwise is filling like fastfood, but not satisfying like dinner at a proper restaurant.

I am so totally Team Rhaenys. She should have been Queen to begin with and has more sense than everyone else combined.
There is something so intimidating about her. The way she carries herself and speaks, she is most certainly my favorite character I think
She has a commanding presence, a rapier wit, and a sharp tongue. She could easily be bitter or arrogant but she's not.

Half of her dialogue is just talking down on people and it's especially frustrating this episode where she starts off explaining how the war was inevitable and then spends the rest of the episode encouraging Rhaenyra to go in this utterly reckless plan to meet Alicent rather than actually plan the war. What the heck happened to "Fire and Blood"? Daenerys would be ashamed of her ancestors.

I'm surprised the Green Council isn't last. For me that was the closest HotD has gotten to having a bad episode.
Somehow, I can't see Aegon's drinking buddies giving their lives for the king if it comes to that. I believe it was said somewhere that the kingsguard was not meant to be a reward for the king's sycophants.

One Of My Cousin Sisters Went Through The Same Situation, She Gave Birth To Baby Girl When She Was 17 But Lost Her Daughter Because Of Some Oragan Disease In 2 Years When My Cousin Sis Was Just 19. This Incident Completely Shattered Her And Her Husband (Then Boyfriend), Like For 3 Years My Sis Was In Severe Depression And Was Not Able Even A Slight Smile & Happiness On Her Face But Me As A Brother And Our Entire Family Supported Her Through Tough Time And At The End She Overcame Depression, Now She Is 28 Years Old And Just Recently Gave Birth To Baby Boy Twins, My Sis Is Very Happy & Healthy Now. When Me And My Cousin Sis Binge Watched The First 3 Episodes Of HOTD Season 2, My Sis Had Tears All Over Her Face And Said Even Though Haelena Is Fictional But She Could Literally Experience Her Pain Of Losing A Child.

By the way guys something that everyone either missed or left out of the editing (or both, as left out cuz they missed it) The servant girl in the tavern the one tipped then slapped in the ... at Ulf the dragonseed's table, It's Diana the chambermaid who was sent away by Alicent in season one with a silver bag and moon tea. After what Aegon did to her.... She was also seen terrified while serving him but he didn't recognize her. He was too busy teasing his squire and throwing peanuts at him.

Otto Hightower actually ordered a Kingsguard to kill Rhaenyra and her kids immediately after the death of Vicerys, so it is naive of Rhaenys and Rhaenyra to think he wouldn’t do it.

13:35 see the funny thing is one of the show writers said he likes to think 3 of those eggs are Danny's, meanwhile the greater community as a whole is disagreeing that they aren't. See back when king Jahaerys was young is eldest sister Rhaena, first rider of Dreamfyre had a close friend/lover called Ellisa Farman and they lived on Dragonstone. Ellisa tho grew bored and wanted to sail west of Westeros, because no one knows what is there. Rhaena forbid it, so Ellisa stoll 3 dragon eggs, likely Dreamfyres due to knowledge of were they were thabks to Rhaena, and took a ship to Pentos and made her way overland to Braavos under the name Alys Westhill and secured an audience with the SeaLord of Braavos selling him the eggs. These 3 eggs are the ones that people believe to be Dannys. In addition not only does Dreamfyre look like Dannys dragons, but Balerion wss also on Dragonstone at the time, and given how much it is said that Drogon looks like Balerion reborn its likely his the father.

The eggs are not Dany's (unless they do that for the show only). But the episode director intend to give us the idea that they are. She didn't considered the books, but only one of them goes with the boys to Pentos, for Viserys. The other 3 stay with Rhaena. They resemble Dany's but even in this take are diferent.I can't explain more without spoilers hahah
But three eggs were stolen during Jaehaerys' reign, taken to Essos and were never officially found.

It’s Jay, and Adam flipping castles. There’s actually a lot of potential profit in refurbished forts. You get some refrigerated air in those hallowed halls & some gator-gar in the moats, and you’re basically printing money.
We now know that the evil Adam clone sounds like Aemond Targarian.

That was NOT Rhaenyra's fault AT ALL! She can't control Daemon, no one can. She never even said she wanted him to go kill Aemon, let alone a child. When she found out, she immediately kicked him out, as I was hoping she would. She's one of the few good and honorable people in this story, and easily my favorite.

I like the GoT intro better and not sure why they need to change it. I liked seeing where we would be focusing each episode when it would show the location.
GOT needed to tell us where we were because of so many concurrent storylines. With HotD nine times out of ten we are in either King's Landing or Dragonstone.
I love you guy's , you are the only reactors that gave Rhaenyra credit for trying to advert war and you didn't say ,but it's to late.
I don't necessarily think Alicent's 'it's too late Rhaenyra' means she'll do nothing. The seed of doubt has clearly been planted. The way Olivia Cooke played the scene and said its too late seems more like a 'I don't know what I can do now it's so far gone' instead of a 'fuck you you're wrong my son's the king'. Olivia even said in an interview that this moment kicks off the start of the rest of Alicent's life so it clearly has an impact.
This show is so damn good
One of my favorite aspects of this show is how it's gone out of its way to show how misogyny has affected the history of Westeros. And that's because the histories were written by men. It's just another layer mostly for bookreaders to enjoy. But we also see how awesome Rhaenys and Rhaenyra are. If they were male, no one would question them.

Rhaenyra wanted Aemond not the kid so it not her fault I blame Daemon entirely on that. And the way Rhaenyra said it could have meant two things either want Aemond alive or dead. And she can't get rid of Daemon because he is her best warrior and has a big dragon.
