I am still having fun watching Brent fix stuff on generator power here in Southeast Missouri using 20 gallons of gas every 24 hours. i hope they get the power line fix soon
I run a 610 bobcat with the VH4D engine. Good engines. Definitely worth the time to rethink both Wisconsin engines and keep them. Parts are available and are simple to work on. Been running ours for almost 30 years. Sold it to a guy during that time and got it back few years later. He neglected it. Came back to me with two stuck pistons and a stuck valve. Got it loose. Did a quick hone on the stuck cylinders without removing the pistons or the engine. Put it all back together with old gaskets. Did new intake and exhaust gaskets. Figured wasn’t out much. Fired right up and good compression. Been over four years now after all that. Hydraulic control block leaked really bad and I put together a new setup vs trying to rebuild it. Has worked out really well.
Excellent Video Brent :) also think over before assembly done so don't need do major repairs too later ! I hope figured this out too and big task to do !
Had a good toe tapping experience with the music, Then things went sour when nothing goes right. hang in there Brent you will figure it out. Great video.
On those broken bolts in that engine you are worried about.... copper tubing in the bolt holes, mig weld until they are up above the top of the hole... and weld a piece of metal or old junk screw driver to that so you can turn it bolt back and forth till its out. Heat will get those steel bolts out of the aluminum engine NO problemo. No need to quit just cause it got a bit hard to do.... give it a college try
The exhaust valves were notorious for sticking on those engines if they sat very long. I used to take the plugs out, squirt some oil towards the valve and then reach in there and tap them down. After a couple of times they would free up. A relative of mine had one on a baler. When he put it up for the winter he would pour oil in the intake while it was running and then shut it down. Valves were still moving in the spring.
First I thought the power washer thermostat, but on 2nd thought I am not wondering if it is s relay that toasted. I bet you could find a zero turn mower with a 30 or 40 hp kohler engine to run that cat. Love the muzak wonderful.
I had a 742 Bobcat . I could not get the Wisconsin engine to run right. I think those engines overheat because there is so much cast iron heating up in a confined space which in my opinion causes these engines to prematurely wear out. My friend ended up with the skid loader and put a new Briggs and Stratton 35 hp commercial engine and put a radiator fan from a car over it and the skid loader works better than ever.
Great video. That song you played there is an awsome song, never heard it before. Those wisconsin air cooled engines have their fans! My experience with them on swathers and augers was always negative but mainly because they were so old. Im sure in their prime they worked great. But onan gets my vote! But yes it operates at much higher rpm
through a snowmobile engine on it . i had one of them bob cats with 4 cyl on it and did the same thing you did .tryed to drill out the bolt and broke the cyl.corner off the jug so i just sold it . i think that a 4hvd they came on alot of welders .hay bailers, water pumps
My old OMC Mustang skid steer had a V4 Wisconsin before I got it. I swapped in an Onan P224 24 HP twin into it. I put a direct drive hydraulic pump on the flywheel to run the bucket. I ended up going to chain drive as I was missing some of the parts for the variable belt drive setup.
My advice: start and use (temporarily) the pressure washer inside, for at least ~10~15 minutes before you roll it out. Getting it to work in cold weather will cause stress fractures, eventually. I don't know about the manual of that machine, but in mine, which was bought surplus from the military, there's a whole page dedicated to cold weather work and how you're supposed to use a heating device to warm the insides before firing it up. Mine didn't have the extra heater, it was removed at some point before being sold - so i just used the FBH from a land rover.
Brent, That Wisconsin engine has a heavy fly wheel, In small engines like that is where it gets its torque, The other engine you was talking about has a lot lighter one if its max HP at 3500 rpm, its going to hurt your bottom end hp which will put the engine under a extra load, Thought id help a lil
Hi. I watch you every day. I really like your idea on how to buiild a hot rod. I also take some shortcuts, it just makes sense at my age. I have a question for you, why do you keep calling engines, motors? Motors are electric, engines provide their own power. I am very impressed by your knowledge of so many things you do and how you accomplish getting it done. I , likewise don't think every car has to be a show car. I notice you really enjoy your cars, meaning , you drive them a lot. By the way, what do you do for a living? Keep doing what you do, I'll be watching. '
For the pressure washer, if the switch got water in it it maybe shorting out. If not my second guess be a relay melted closed. Like others thought thermostat but then you said it still shuts off when you gets to temperature don't think it's that.
if we did not have snow right now, i would go to my friends junk yard , I have access to at least 3 of them engines close to you (South East Mb) but with the snow would be too hard to moves stuff around to get them out. and i don't know if they would be in any better shape lol.
Life has taught me that with all the time and money I've wasted doing swaps of old shit with just more old shit, rebuilding what is original is the way to go.
Them little engines always seem to be a big problem but know how you get around things you’ll find another little engine what I do the job fine keep up the good work
My son has a similar Bobcat. Cracked the exhaust manifold and it developed a fuel leak. Looked ove hus shoulder abd the top of the engine was on fire. Guys have successfully swapped in a briggs. So onan should work.
I'd imagine snowmobiles would be plentiful up there as possible engine sources. Maybe somebody has a decent 750 Vulcan they don't need, running at 2K all day wouldn't affect that at all.
Bummer. However you can use your lathe to make a tapered spacer which will then fit right onto your pulley . The rest I'm not sure about . Oh Brent ( or anyone ) what's the name of that song ? It isn't in your description as usual .. I definitely want to download that song . Thanks Brent !
Really like that song you were playing there
Right ? I couldn't find the name of the song in his description either
I Want A New Car - Original Rock A Billy V_vpTkX1ydY
@@StevenJoy-l5o couldn't find it anywhere . You would have a link would you ?

What it really needs is a small block Chevy!

Please keep us posted! 💪👍🏼
Always an adventure, never as easy as planned.
Tough break on the replacement engine. I'm sure you will come up with a plan. Take care and good luck. 👍
Good luck Brent, you will figure it out!
One of my day's 😂😅 you'll work something out, 😅 thanks for sharing, all the best to you and your loved ones
Wow that's cool as hell yeah man that sounds great to me too here ❤❤❤❤❤

Keep on rockin Brent ,you're the right man for the job!!!
Need that Bob Cat. Thanks for sharing Brent! Happy 2025! 💯👊👍💕
This is one of your best recent builds. Id put an LS in that skidster.
One thing I know for certain is Brent will figure it out and it will live a useful life again

You to make sure both shafts are tapered. There is a difference in the main bearing journals. The straight shaft has small main bearing journals.😊

so when will the new shop addition be added on 😁😁.remember when it was just built it looked so big. Never enough room.guess how I know
HE NEEDS TO REBUILD THE OLD BARN BEHIND THE NEW ONE. FOR STORAGE AND MAYBE A PAINT BOOTH, AND WASH BAY CONNECTING THEM.
Thanks for sharing Loving it
Great attempt 👏

You got this Brent!

First Happy New Year’s Brent. Even when things sideways you are still optimistic. You’ll get it.
Always the hard way!!😊
Thete's always something to fix Brent!😆

Fuel injected GM 4 cylinder like Your T has. They are a very handy tool, good luck.

If I'm right, the take-along stacker already has a hydro pump on it, and you can use it
This is very interesting.
I think you should go with an LS that's a good idea, why not?
It looks like the proverbial can of worms
Who knew Brent was also a singer! Gee wiz
I REALLY DIG THE NEW MUSIC
There's some great vet wins available now. Up to 999cc. That should do the job and fit the space
Life has taught me that with all the time and money I've wasted doing swaps of old shit with just more old shit, rebuilding what is original is the way to go.
Needs a 12-pack of cold snacks, then it will make more sense. 😎

did you check out mustie 1 bobcat swap?
Back in the pile for the splitter, Next. Be well. Hi Ester.
You need a V-4 from a Cortina, or a little Perkins diesel.
Yeah it's about time to finish up your favorite work toy you've got 6 or more productive projects going well enough 😅😂
You got a can of worms Bummer
thx Brent

Well a temporary failure. You'll figure it out. Thanks Brent for the video
You know the old saying is when it rains it pours you'll figure it out
Next time it’ll work
Yes that thing is tost Peace out
Brent your thermostat is kaput need to get a new one sorry for the bad news
Put a Harley in it.
Just rebuild the original motor
Who is the group singing this car song ?
I have said it before on this channel - just get in the habit of starting your equipment on a regular basis and you would not have these problems.
That's more like it 20 minutes
You'll figure out
Sorry for the steam cleaning machine you can call tech support from the manufacturer maybe , probably bad thermostat sensor
That's too bad. Stuff sits and things go bad.
BOBCAT needs an LS swap
HAH LOL Peace out
Good plan, bad motor. Sometimes it just doesn't work out.
Wassup
Bah Humbug! Not mint by any means. Good idea anyway.
