This is why we love you Dan,No sugar coating no rainbows and butterflies.Just hard work with a good woman by your side. That's a good time even in the middle of the welding sparks that burn, the cutting wheels that explodes and gives you scares,The trash cans full of grinding dust dirt and scrap metal,The trash in your eyes. Its definitely an addiction.Cherrish those moments with Danny and stay strong.
You're a preacher mate 👍 you're 🇦🇺 speaking the truth , amen to that Dan is the man , got to be the hardest working RUclips I've ever seen and has a full-time job , a true legend
I'm not gonna lie. Im glad Dan said what he said. I've seen some of the comments. I've been frustrated for him seeing them. Just know there are more of us proud of what you're doing. Keep being the bad ass you two are. We love ya.
Never Quit being you!!! always make yourself happy, I've been building hot rods for at least 50 years & never built a trailer queen but I can always drive them & enjoy them forget all these perfect people because they never built a real hot rod in their life.
Back in my day Dan, we used to give speed to the horses just to see how fast they would go. Then that damn steam engine came out and ruined hot rodding.
Been watching you since the first two door conversion. I've worked at hot rod shops that built million dollar cars. YOU have way more fun, work harder, and show that one does not have to have a pro built hot rod to enjoy the car culture. Keep doing what you do, many of us appreciate the work you show, and the determination it takes to make things happen, all while keeping a day job. Thanks for the many, many hours of enjoyment my wife and I have gotten from your show.
I’ve started painting my own cars. It’s not that difficult. And if you mess it up you can do it again 15 more times and still be cheaper than taking it in.
Bull. Dan turned out a nice paint job on this channel (the '57 roadster) that I'd bet was under $600, and plenty of us out in the real world do the same every day..."patina" builds exist for the same reason saggy pants and trucks with the Carolina squat do...lazy-assed youngin's with distorted world views. I blame rap music & video games. GET OFF MY LAWN!
No it didn't, you can still do a complete body work and paint job for under 500 buck if you do it yourself. I learned how to do it as a sophomore in high school, if a 15 year old can do it you can too. You also don't have to spend thousands of dollars on equipment either.
Right on brother, I'm 68 back in 72 when I had tri5s they were just old cars they were only 15 years old,but 15 years was considered a very old junker back then,my first 55 cost me 10 bucks my neighbor used to have me set his points when it wouldn't start finally one day he came over and asked if I wanted the car,I asked how much he said what you got on you, I said 10 bucks, boom it was mine.
Hey Dan I was gonna send you a comment a few days ago to apologize for sending you negative comments , I appreciate that you build are in the car saving world , I too do the same type of work that you do and respect what you do , I'm sorry I sent those stupid comments and will continue to watch your channel ..........
Back in my day, 50 years ago, when we had nothing but junk yards and rust, we put together what we could and raced cars that rich kids owned and still killed it. Don't stop Dan.
I am 62 years and my 1st car before I even had a license was a 1946 Plymouth 2-door coupe. #2 was a 1955 Chevy 2-door post. Been hot rodding my whole life and your channel is bar far my favorite channel.
I am 62 and I have always understood that a HOT ROD is the car or truck that you have put your hands on and have made it your on the way you want it that is the definition of a hotrod hotrod
Dan I LOVE what you do, and I agree it is an addiction! I've been a car guy since I was building models as a kid! I'm 66 now and have had and built many hotrods between ages 15 -60. After my last car my wife of 46 years put her foot down and said, "no more!" Now I have to live vicariously through you. I long for just one more hotrod, especially since I'm now retired, but it's not going to happen. I was a firm believer in a "Finished" hotrod and was never into "patina/rust" and figured that was just a lazy man's out. Watching you and your channel has opened my eyes and I now "get it" and I would be proud to drive any of the cars I've watched you do on your channel. What you do is your choice and your liking and, who is anybody to criticize what anybody else likes?! Keep on keeping on!
Oh hell yeah Dan! Testify!!! Everything you said is why we love you both so much. Keep on keepin on...many blessings to you both (and the doggies, too).
Many of us wish we could do some of the things that you do! Keep up the good work! We will be watching. I’m glad you’re doing it all. I’m a fan, and I’m learning from you too. Thanks
Amen! I do this because I love it, not because I'm tryna impress anyone. And a house is 400k now and it was 8000 then. And seeing that your project doesn't have to be perfect keeps me motivated . Thanks for keeping it real!
Dan, you make me laugh 😂, l love your responses to some peoples comments. Keep up what your doing, you motivate a lot of people by showing that something rusty can be brought back from the grave. G from Tacoma
Back in my day, we self tapered in some locally sourced street signs and replaced the carpet and never thought about the non existent floors ever again. Your constant replacement of sheet metal has caused my bald spot to triple in size since discovering this mess you call a RUclips channel. Good job 👍 keep up the good work.
I remember helping my Mom benb signs and roof tar them in for floors. The best part was cutting scraps of burnt orange carpet with steak knives. The 70s leftover carpet from grandparents' house became our car carpet. Good times.
You're exactly right! 60 years ago, that truck still had all the factory everything on it. All those '56s were still on the road from when they were new. Also right with it's your project, build it, drive it the way it makes you happy! Screw them all! It's yours, do what your taste and wallet wants.
I admire your perserverance and your energy. I was struck early on with the perfectionist mindset....want the paint...want the hottest motor...want the nice interior, on and on. Been working on cars all my life and haven't acomplished even one tenth of what you have...and I'm twice your age! Your videos help me to be able to go to the shop and fiddle around on my ratty old 63 Oldsmobile and instead of sitting around wondering how I can ever come up with the mega money that all my perfectionism demands, I can say "well that's good enough for today....think I'll just take her for a drive...." I truly thank you for that!!
Because of your videos and knowledge of body replacement parts, this last summer I bought a 1969 Camaro X44 hugger code 72. I have it torn down, but had to leave it for 6 months as I’m a snowbird. I have found some good oem parts close to me in Texas. Keep up the good work and the videos coming. I used to work on hot rods in the late 60’s ,70’s and 80’s. Then you built an engine slapped on a set of wheels and tires and maybe a pair of air shocks.
Both of you please; just keep doing what you are doing! We watch you for we value what you do. As one of my favourite authors always wrote " Enuff Said".
Watched you from beginning. Your content matters but in a positive way to me. I watch you everyday when I workout for work and your both humor helps set the day lol and has motivated me work on a shell of a nova and now it's a 454 monster. You both ro rock keep hot rodding
I know people that have a project that they haven't touched in many years. Sometimes life gets in the way. Builds on a budget are more impressive to me! Keep up the awesome work! I've learned a lot watching y'all!
It’s great you do a channel and show what both of YOU do. Audience seems to forget your doing what YOU are doing for yourselves first and formost . Not doing it for others 😂 the cars are still running and driving if people feel so strong they should make an offer to buy them . I like seeing how stuff can be done with a lower budget and what’s possible .

We enjoy your shop. It's a fun hobby as long as you're making enough.
You do you , I personally enjoy watching ya'll you are the definition of what this hobby is !! What you do and how you do it is how real hot rodding started working class folks building cars in their garages with what they could afford !! True lovers of this hobby and of cars would never judge someone about how they build their car !! I have been building my cars [junk] since I was 15 out of my garage all have been low buck builds but they are mine and they have given me much enjoyment without costing me a fortune !! Screw the haters keep up the good work Dan !!
Great video, I hope you keep on keeping on. Proud of you two and your new house/shop. Build em your way and enjoy. Great having Dani supporting you and your hobby. makes it so much easier when they love it because you love it. Great team. Wishing you continued success. Nothing but praises from Georgia.
Times change and so does everybody and everything. This is this fella’s project and hence his vision, not anyone else’s idea.Just keep on trucking,Dan.It’s your creation, how ever that happens.
i love the look and the practicality of a rough hot rod flash cars are nice but they also bring the hassle of always being worried about doing any damage to them not to mention the time and money cost of doing them keep doing you and let them do them
Iam a big fan of yas both ya tell it like it is keep up the Great Work Build Build Build And Have Fun Doing It For You No One Else Have A Great Week 😊👍👍👍
Don't ever stop!! You do you!!!!! I just turned 70! Playing with my 55 wagon! Right now changing all the glass to green tint! Just because!! I listen to nobody but me!
Dan what you have to remember is you give these car's a new lease on life. YOU give people like me pleasure and a good laugh. Keep on keeping on. Old Stoker retired
I watch your vids all the time. Love what you and Danny do and love the rusted out cars that you save. Drive a 68 Mustang myself and I makes me smile everytime and that’s what it’s all about. Keep up the great work and vids.
Hey I appreciate that you are an honest car guy. I believe you fix em the way you like and at least you drive what you fix. They ain’t getting crushed or left for dead!
To me, this was your best video yet. Restoring my 1957 210 4 door wagon in my small garage, there are so many critics. It's far from perfect, but perfect from far. The best shutdown response like yours, what does your '57 wagon look like?
I admire your work on old cars and you inspire me to get my own project going, you really want to mess with people, put some linseed oil on that old paint and sit back and watch the purist melt away! keep doing what dd speed shop does best
Dan , you are so correct, keep up the good work. They all need to do what you do . I am with you brother. my ride is 1969 c20 my DAD brought in Oct 69, 4 motors two trans ago.
Absolutely correct Dan! We do it differently. Back then the paint was junk and they put their "HotRod" in primer and called it good. Nowadays Primer it also WAY to expensive and "thank God" for patina FINALLY being exceptable. I love the patina. It tells a story of the cars life. Paint doesn't make ME enjoy it any more than I already do. So why waist the money? I just get more enjoyment that more people actually enjoy it as it is as much as I do. Keep doing what you're doing. We got to stick together and keep this old iron from fading away and back on the roads.
Didn't get much done but it was a hoot anyway 😂😅 your living the dream ,Beautiful Woman that supports what you do, and work on your car the way you want it,thanks for sharing, all the best to yous and your loved ones
Dan the helll with the negative vibes I think you’re very inspirational on building these hot rods I enjoy watching your videos I’ve been following you almost every video so please don’t let negativity bring you down, so keep up the good work
I think you are doing a great service to all “hot-rodders”. You do all the heavy lifting for us and we can take it from there … if we want. I don’t know how you keep doing this over and over and don’t get burned out.
Your 100% correct, it is no one's business except your ones to what you do to an auto that you own. If they don't like what you do, they don't have to watch the videos. Keep up the good work, you are good at what you do to the autos you repair, and it does take time to get it completed.
Preach it! everyone has their own ideas, that's Hot Rodding! If you want paint, paint'em if you want patina leave them alone! That's the great thing about Hot Rods everyone has their own ideas. I've got a ratty Big block 66 GMC, An LS Caballaro and a 11 Cts Coupe with paint, I Love them ALL. Keep doing what you're doing, we're behind YOU!
I turn 70 this year and I LOVE how you build your cars. I'm addicted to cars as well. I've been building them since I got my first car at 14 years old. I'm still building hot rods. Currently building a 454 powered '65 Malibu. Keep up the good work!
My wife spit her coffee out laughing at the "what color are you gonna paint yours" come back. We own a 56 chevy that I've had since May 0f '88 ( i've owned the car longer than we've been married ) and it doesn't matter where I drive it or who I talk to , someone will always ask what color you gonna paint it. I tell them that some day when I grow up i'll check into it. They don't know quite sure how to take that so they change the subject. I like your take on it way better!!!
Hey TALENT! You are the man! I'm 20 years older than "Pierre". Your reaction to him was dead on! Here is a few facts that may be of interest..... The latest model hotrod at my Sebastopol, California high school in 1963 was a 56 Bel Air with chrome rims and a Tijuana tuck-n-roll upholstery. It was only 7 years old so its condition was great. No one could afford a paint job in those days but we made sure that all the chrome was removed and the holes were leaded or Bondo'd and covered up with one of the three existing colors of primer , rust red, white or dark gray (no black). We flipped the rear shackles to raise the rearend (a MUST) and to go all-out some had the nearby repair shop turn the tire rims inside out and had the local chrome shop plate 'em for $15 each. We did all this for 2 reasons. One was to look cool, of course, and the other reason was to make sure the other kids knew we weren't driving daddies car. Continental kits were an absolute no- no and so were fender skirts (ugh). Fuzzy dice were not invented yet. At least I never saw them. Tri-five chevies weren't known by that name by the way and 6 cylinder cars were OK mostly because no one had the skills or the money to swap engines to a V8. The kids made custom gear shift knobs on a lathe in shop class and car radios were all AM. Gas was $.28 a gallon but we still worried about the mileage. White walls were the rage, especially on reversed chrome rims. When appreciating something changed on a car one would say "neato", "boss", "nifty", "crazy" "wild" or"fineass", but mostly just "cool". Also, when showing off by popping the clutch and burning rubber the tires only left one skidmark (if ever). Finally, I add the fact that the preceding items varied from state to state and even city to city. For instance - tri-five chevies were very popular in Seattle but in San Francisco the 58 Impala was the cats meow.
Internet trolls are generally insecure people who are never happy unless they are attempting to tear others down. You and Dani seem to be a very happy couple. Just keep doing what makes you and Dani happy.
In 1968 I was 18 years old I bought a 1957 Chevy original paint fender skirts Continental kit no rust no patches no nothing price 800 bought a brand new 327 Corvette crate motor put a four-speed and beat the crap out of it that was hot writing and my day then I moved up the bigger projects model A's hot rods keep doing what you're doing patina cars are great
dan you are a true hot rodder you bring cars back to life can't wait to see how cool that pick up truck is gonna look happy new year to you and dannie and murph and your 2 dogs. many blessings to you. all
Took 2 hotrods apart 15 years ago, just found my mojo and tore my cruciate… that has given me time to order parts because they are getting done this year 🤞🤞🤞
60 Years ago Rust was not an issue. 50 years ago we'd have to pay bigger bucks like $200 more for a really straight body which we could still find NOS body panels for... some of your work makes my scratch my head but I get it!!! Absolutely enjoy you making 2 doors from 4 door and putting this old iron back on the road!
I'll bet that feller didn't grind like you have, and definitely do it well enough to help fund a new home, and kick ass shop! You have come a long ways. You two are awesome. Keep doing you.
I have gotten comments about my cars like that, and I've noticed it's mainly from people who don't work on their own cars. Just keep doing what you like. Some people just suck
love what you guys do. cant wait to get my own project goin. DDs speed shop is inspirational and its people like that who ruin things for people on a budget trying to have some fun
Your right Dan bought my 55 for $50 in 1969 and still have it they were a dime a dozen then I bought another one for $50 too.. Only rust my 55 had was little above the headlights at14 years old then. My 1st car drove it for 11 years was my only car from 1970-81.Put it away for 34 years took it out of mothball in 2015 drive it now whenever I want ,Ha!...Glenn
"Danny Boy" you keep turning junkyard trash into roadworthy fun. Build what you want how you want and just enjoy the fun out of it.... you are out there spining the tools and keep loads of people entertained so don't let some clown who doesn't have the I.Q. too even put the recliner down bother you one bit ! Thank you Dani and Dan for all that you do ... ✌️😎
Haha, love your sarcasm! I'm with you. Build what you can with what you have and so long as you are happy, that's what matters. Sometimes my work hasn't been as pretty as I would have liked but that's how I learn. My work has gotten better and better just like the work I've seen you do and that is sort of the whole point. You and Danielle keep doing what you are doing cause it works and I look forward to every new video!!! Cheers from Vancouver Island.
We are here every night to watch you and Dannii restore these old beauties. We like the old rat rod look and patina. It might have been because of you we bought an old chevy truck headed for the smasher for $500 and I am driving it!! I AM A BELIEVER BROTHER!!!!
Always waiting for your next vid keep up doing you, been watching you for at least a couple of years just before you hit 100,000 I think you guys are the greatest
Dan, you're the definition of a hot rodder. That old guy can get bent and pound sand if he thinks he did it better 'back in his day'. He ought to be grateful that you're keeping hot rodding alive today. You're doing it in Canada which has a 3 month hot rod season and it's double the cost than in the states! What a clown... Stay awesome, bro!
Although im not a big fan of the "Patina" look i can appreciate doing whatever you see fit to "You're" car i satin black rattle canned my 69 Buick GS and ill never change that
I agree with you Dan. To me, if you've worked on a classic and you want the patina look - Go for it! I fyou want to go down the rabbit hole of bodywork and paint - Go for it! To me its the ENJOYMENT of said classic that really matters!
Hi Dan .. what I do .. I keep them together and do the body work first .. and I do one section at a time .. then I get them running and driving .. by doing the body first it gives me the incentive to keep going and by getting it running makes me want to finish.. but one car at a time .. this does not overwhelm me by staying with one car at a time .. I am 74 and built and finished about 10 cars this way by myself .. and I make sure and do something to the car everyday if at all possible.. when I say finished I mean paint and interiors and detailed and complete with no trim missing .. also I worked 50 hours or more a week and my wife and I raised 3 daughters and put them through college .. and I am working on a ‘70 Chevelle now ..
I’m really looking forward to the truck! I’m hoping you try to get that green as a color match for the repairs, but there is something about primer spots that makes me smile…
Dan, I have been re building a Willy's mb since the age of 49, I'm now 58. As far as I'm concerned it takes as long as it takes, people take the piss but none of the one's that do are doing anything remotely like me. They all just go buy something that's already done. Keep doing what you're doing, you're doing fine!! You are both doing an awesome thing....

The best part of your”rant” is dani’s reply was the best ever response “because I love you “
I'm 83 and love what you and Dannie do!
81 here, and I agree. It’s YOUR car. Gotta wonder why they watch. Perhaps they have mental issues.🤣😎
Never Quit being you!!! always make yourself happy, I've been building hot rods for at least 50 years & never built a trailer queen but I can always drive them & enjoy them forget all these perfect people because they never built a real hot rod in their life.

Paint and body went from $600 to 20k, and they can't figure out why patina builds exist.
After you spend 20 k ,to nice to drive.

Love the videos and all the builds you do . I’m right there with you when you buy a car it is your to do with what ever you want . 😁
Times change and so does everybody and everything. This is this fella’s project and hence his vision, not anyone else’s idea.Just keep on trucking,Dan.It’s your creation, how ever that happens.
i love the look and the practicality of a rough hot rod
flash cars are nice but they also bring the hassle of always being worried about doing any damage to them not to mention the time and money cost of doing them
keep doing you and let them do them
Iam a big fan of yas both ya tell it like it is keep up the Great Work Build Build Build And Have Fun Doing It For You No One Else Have A Great Week 😊👍👍👍
That is why your channel is so good.
I watch your vids all the time. Love what you and Danny do and love the rusted out cars that you save. Drive a 68 Mustang myself and I makes me smile everytime and that’s what it’s all about. Keep up the great work and vids.
Your pretty good at just doing what you do that’s what I like about this channel
That’s right Dan! Do whatever you want with your own hotrod! I’ll do whatever I want with my hotrod!
God bless you and your family D.
😂 great speach youngman!! I agree, when it's yours, do what you want with it. Please just don't crush it😊
Preach it! everyone has their own ideas, that's Hot Rodding!
Keep going Dan! Keep building cars the way YOU want. YOU bought it, YOU are working on it. YOU enjoy it. We love you guys and the work you do!
I wish I had your talent. Most people can’t even get remotely close to the level of building that you do.Thanks for saving the cars that you do!
I agree with you, Derek, Dave and Steve. Just drive the stuff. It don't have to be perfect
Dan, you're the man! agree with you 100%. Keep up the good work, appreciate you and Dani and what you do.
Preach it brother! Keep saving them all and getting them back on the road wether it be on the icy road, dirt road, smooth pavement etc!
I have gotten comments about my cars like that, and I've noticed it's mainly from people who don't work on their own cars. Just keep doing what you like. Some people just suck
Keep Going every step forward will give you momentum to finish.
I want to see your truck when get it done to your specific wants.
love what you guys do. cant wait to get my own project goin.
Dan & Danny, you made me think! Thank you!
We are here every night to watch you and Dannii restore these old beauties. We like the old rat rod look and patina. It might have been because of you we bought an old chevy truck headed for the smasher for $500 and I am driving it!! I AM A BELIEVER BROTHER!!!!
You the Man! I never wanted to be like anyone else, and I never will!
preaching to the Choir Dan!!!
Dan and Daniel I have to agree with you me and the wife have many of cars we and friends have built with no shop time
I'm one of The Old Guys, and I approve of Dan's message!
Always waiting for your next vid keep up doing you, been watching you for at least a couple of years just before you hit 100,000 I think you guys are the greatest
Amen, brother
You can get it done,I have faith in you and your abilities to overcome and build it.
Good rant Dan I thoroughly enjoyed that it made me smile 😊
I really like your old cars Dan, and I have some of my own. Keep on keeping on! Congratulations to Canada on Trudeau's parting. Jesus Saves!!!
All Men are created equal but some become more equal than others you are that man
Hey Dan&Dannie
Looking forward to watch this build.
Take care😊
