So true about the German TÜV. It is like a national pain in the ass for all car enthusiasts in Germany.
at least you can have modifications if you have proper paperwork to go with it...
Here in France, modification is forbidden... there is some tolerance, so the risk to have a fine on the road with a police control is really low... but if you have a serious accident (like with other people involved badly), the expert will check the car and if modification, the insurance will say "yeah right, good luck with the bill, we are out" and you pay for the rest of your life if someone is disabled for example
As long as the parts have a TUV approval number, you are good to go. Schnizter, Alpina, and others make bits for Bimmers. You don't have to buy the whole car from them.
Honestly, I'm completely fine with TÜV. Of course some restrictions are rather obscure, but it's there your own and other people's good.
It's not pain in the ass. It's security on the road.
@@damiansmigielski yeah that's why you fail the tüv when your brand new air filter and intake ist not "legal". It makes sense in most occasions, but for car enthusiasts it's a huge pain in the ass.

I am extremely happy to see a new upload at 6am when I’m off my face.
Hi Sreten, love the videos. Just wanted to mention that on the LCI tail lights the ground pin had a tendency to get a bit melty when all the lights were on due to a bit of under engineering on BMW's part, crazy I know. Might be worth adding a thicker ground from the tail light to chassis ground.
I second this. major recalls on American E60’s for melting of the ground wire and the bulb housing done multiple myself. I think what it comes down to is the amperage load of the circuit changing with the running and brake light bulbs is too high for the small ground that was applied initially.
@@isaacchewey6422 with led lights i wont get those loads that ordinary halogen got .

Tips for removing or installing the headlights: remove the seal from the top of the bumper and the torx bolts from underneath the seal so you can bend the bumper away a bit. Makes removing and installing the headlights way easier. Source: owned an e60 for two and a half years and was on the edge of putting a sledgehammer through the front of the car every time a bulb needed replacing. Found out about this a few months before selling the car.

Been binjing on this channel for the past week. Cheers mate 👍
The problem with PPF on headlights is that, even though it looks perfectly clear to you, it can interact with the headlight beam and create glare and/or send light where it shouldn’t go. Really unfortunate there isn’t more thought into the longevity of these systems from manufacturers.
We found the guy!
Exactly. Even a clear film will diffract the beam and create glare. It is forbidden to install clear window films on the windshield for the same reason. The headlights are precision optical devices that are designed to very tight tolerances. Especially with high output light sources such as HID or LED.
The European spec is very strict regarding beam control and glare avoidance. This is the reason the DOT headlights had to go, as the antiquated US standard allows for a wider beam and higher glare.
There's plenty of thought into the longevity of these systems from manufacturers - you just won't like their conclusions.
On some headlights, if you apply PPF to the headlights and later try to remove/replace the film, there's a chance that the factory headlight coating will come off as well. Would be nice if they made it possible to replace the clear plastic component on headlights.
Loving the attention to detail for the rear M5 badge 😁

did you calculated the change in torque when using the crowfoot adapter? I really like your youtube content! 👊
That's what I was thinking, it's gotta make it wrong, no?
Depends on the angle of the wrench handle to the head of the bolt. If it's 90deg directly to the side then the setting doesn't change. If it's in-line with the bolt (either on the short side or long side) then a 4cm offset crowfoot with a 500mm bar could alter a 140lbft setting to 129 or 152lbft. So yes, it matters, but not hugely.

Interesting to hear about the road laws in Germany. They are so strict!
In Germany it is easier to point out what you can do rather than what you can't.
Strict laws are in some cases good, because with them, I rarely see idiots with those retrofit HID kits, also really annoying people with straight pipes are mostly non existent. In Germany everything is "smaller" and closer together than in the US :D
But on the other hand, if you want to modify your car in general, germany is sometimes stupidly obsessive with their laws and stuff.
Not really! Its fair, sometimes makes no sense, but in the end in the big picture is okay. Just the papers and all good, u can tune your car nearly no limits, important the tüv Gutachten documents
