Yes! Honesty! Real life activities! Truthful descriptions of feelings and outcomes! No glitz, or dramatization! And yet an elegant ( always part of this channel) take on life. It's what we want!
I’ve always had an extreme fear of needles specifically blood draws and often faint so as a kid my mom would bribe me 😅 (biggest gift I can remember was actually for jumping off the diving board at my swim lessons because I was terrified-I think it was the Heart Family nursery set) I can’t recall buying anything big as an adult for stuff like that, but I do still treat myself after a successful draw, usually with a coffee! Your car vlog was hilarious. I knew you had to be on something 😅
Yes I think as long as the "treating yourself" is within the realms of reason (and of course "realms of reason" is subjective too) it doesn't have to be a problem, and it can provide a kind of positive counterpart to some of life's more dreaded aspects! I also remember my mom bribing me, sometimes with ice cream after getting vaccination shots, and another time with a couple of beanie baby toys for doing well at the elementary school spelling bee😆
Funny vlog! I really needed this, I'm without power due to Hurricane Beryl (fingers crossed it is back on tomorrow!) and I'm suffering in this Texan heat. I have finally been able to get stable internet on my phone, so I'm treating myself to some youtube to try to escape..I'm safe and OK, but it's been a difficult week. This disaster and my own recent dental issues have reshaped my habits towards shopping. I had to laugh about the Dyson airwrap because I have definitely treated myself to luxury products after distressing events, and it is comforting to know that im not alone. You're doing great and detailing your journey has really helped me 😊
Ugh that's so frustrating that you've been without power! I remember when the "big freeze" caused the rolling blackouts and we didn't have any way to cook at the time since we had an electric stove in our rental, we were so unprepared. I haven't had that since leaving Texas thankfully...but yeah emergency fund is my #1 priority right now 💸
Wow, that sounds like an intense procedure. Good for you for not succumbing to treating yourself by buying things. Progress! I'm lucky to have good teeth. I pretty much gave up sugar when I was in high school and I think that may have helped keep them healthy along with just good genetics. A character in one of my favorite shows is a dentist...the character actually inspired me to do even more to take care of my teeth. You just never know where inspiration will come from LOL, including from your video here, because I definitely don't want that procedure you describe. Lastly, I love that you are willing to share your nerdy, goofy side. My husband has many labels for me and many of them end in "-nerd" LOL. And I'm fine with it.
So while I do have weak enamel, I think less sugar is a huge factor! I used to love sugary foods but stopped having as much the past few years and things have really calmed down. I suspect that my last few issues were brought about by having kids (pregnancies) but now, that too, might be behind me! We shall see.
Oh, this is a weird reminder that I need to get an appointment at the dentist. They told me I might need that same procedure that you went through 😢 I’m really bad at doing the first step and actually getting an appointment. But at the same time I know that the longer I wait it might get worse. 😮💨 (Seeing your goofy side cheered me up)
Wow I've actually never known anyone else who's had this or even heard of it. But hey if you do need it, now you know it's not THAT bad and hopefully you have an insurance that covered more than mine did 😅 Edited to add: but yes go get that appointment so you can either get it out of the way, or find out you don't need it!
@@Alexas.nobuyyear yes! I’m glad I could see someone else going through it 🥹 I hope everything is feeling better for you! I have to do it this year for sure!! I’m planning to go after my vacations. What adds to my dentist trauma is that my jaw dislocates. It happened to me three times already 🥺
Same actually my very first root canal procedure was pretty awful, done by a general dentist and not an endodontist so I don't think they were quite as experienced. Luckily nothing since then has been quite as bad and I hope that's the way it continues 😬
I get to…. I Get to have my teeth fixed…I get to see doctor…I get to buy food…I get to clean my house…those three words .. I get to…are reward enough for me . Some where there is an earth quake,a war, a flood,a lack of money, some reason why normal life is disrupted.
I swear, teeth have not kept up with evolution. I have a long, sordid history with dental procedures as well and I am the most conscientious and fastidious person I know about oral hygiene. I suspect you are, too. In my experience, the people with the most dental problems have the cleanest mouths, LOL. It's impressive and commendable that you are seeking new coping methods for stress. You set a very good example for me and my dental woes.
Yes! I guess it also might be the human diet evolving to be worse for teeth, but I've also been trying to limit processed sugars for the past few years too. It's frustrating to see people with "good teeth" who don't watch out for sugars, and rarely floss and never get any cavities while others never skip on dental hygiene and still have to get tons of work done - but oh well. It could always be worse!
I really enjoy your honesty in your videos. I did really well with no spend January, but im constantly failing since then. I have dentures. Take care of your teeth, everyone!!🎉
We're the same age (I think), do you remember "David after the dentist"?. You just did "Alexa before and after the dentist". Those sedatives are wild. I'm glad you're doing well!
Hate visiting the dentist… My parents didn’t care for my teeth so I had broken teeth since elementary school. The fillings crumple every few years and take parts of my teeth with them… actually switched to gold if possible - of course with a special insurance that pays most of it 😅 it’s more compatible to my natural teeth and doesn’t crumble. After the dentist I tread myself with a babysitter and napping with a favorite movie. Even if it’s just a professional cleaning I don’t have any energy to shop afterwards. Hope the infection really ceases - get well soon! With my kids‘ dental health I am a bit paranoid now.
Oh no well I definitely empathize with teeth issues!! And same, I make sure my kids floss everyday now because I don't want them to have the same problems 😬
Definitely made it easier 🙌 ...and funny enough having a baby to go home to, makes any of these kinds of experiences easier for me - not just because they're cute, but because it brings it into less-scary perspective I think 😊
Yowza, I’d need general anesthesia for my anxiety for that procedure! I’m not great at the dentist. Edited to add-omg that drugged voice had me rolling with laughter! 😆 Your hubby buying a bike added to the hilarity.🤣
I do lots af dental things and they are rarely as bad as I think. But I promise myself things if I get through a stressful event. But I rarely feel like I need it when it's done. I just give myself permission
Yeah for me, I guess if it doesn't look like things are healing at the one-year checkup the next step would be a dental implant - fingers crossed it doesn't come to that, but actually after having this one done I think it probably wouldn't be as bad as I would have thought before. When I think about all the dental work I've had I really do think the worst and scariest part is THINKING about the procedures, luckily the actual procedure is just a moment in time, and then it's over - you can do it! If feel like it you can update me in the comments, and I'll send you positive vibes if you have to get something done!! 🦷😁
Yes! I dislike having medical procedures enough that I have a hard time imagining how people can voluntarily get injectables or even things like nose jobs/other body modifications...I try not to judge others who do, but I would never be able to myself 🫨
I have to say a little treat is not a bad thing. I would "reward" myself for working massive overtime hours and traveling for work. Nothing big, nothing expensive, just a little something for going above and beyond.🙂Why not?

You made me laugh when you were in the car! I really appreciate the goofy side and the calmer side you have, I am the same!
I have crohns and after terrible appointments or procedures I would treat myself to an ice cream cone all by myself so that I could truly enjoy it 🥰
Yesss an ice cream cone is a much more reasonable treat, especially savored alone 🍦
Hahahaha thank you for this! You were hilarious and charming in the car
