You nailed it… He’s got a different kind of swagger and nobody has touched him since. He is the pride of Minnesota and we still mourning him deeply. ☔️
"I Wanna Be Your Lover" hit US#11 (and R&B#1) on the Billboard charts in 1979, actually. His last major was 1994's treacly "The Most Beautiful Girl in the World" (1994/US#3, UK#1), though the quality of his output gradually tapered-off, after the Sign '☮' the Times double-LP in 1987. After the mid-90s (and his famous record label disputes and name change), he pretty much lost all radio play of new material for the next quarter of a century, so "hits from every decade" doesn't ring true. He definitely had a couple more Gold albums, but his last gold single was 27 years ago this Summer. When Warner released The Hits/The B-Sides around that time, they did it as a sort of tombstone for his career and did everything they could to sink him from there. Many major 80s Popstars struggled to connect with audiences on the same level they did in the previous decade, though, including Michael Jackson, George Michael, and Whitney Houston - even if they still managed to squeak out some of their biggest sales numbers. And to be honest, his really work began to suffer in the 90s, anyway. It may be hard to remember through the lens of 2021, because his 80s stuff sounds so fresh now, but 30 years ago Grunge, Metal, House, and Hip Hop had made his patented brand of Synth Funk sound very dated. By the time he formed the New Power Generation, his whole recording process changed from MIDI sequencers, drum machines (those iconic detuned Linn drums!), and synthesizers to live Funk and samples-samples-samples, and it definitely lost some of its magic. (for example, How poorly has "Batdance" aged? It just sounds like somebody got a sampler for Christmas, LOL.) By the time Diamonds and Pearls came out, he was now the leader of a bloated and turgid Funk act whose only real concessions to 1991 were an overreliance on stock samples and some truly terrible rapping. There's nothing wrong with samples, per se, but if INXS used the sample a few months earlier, people will notice, LOL. And Diamonds and Pearls was actually a pretty good album, but it was also his last album to have more than one hit single, and that was pretty much 30 years ago.

One of his best songs, but he had sooo many amazing songs. I've seen him live 3 times in Sweden. He is amazing. 👏👏👏
I brought this on cassette- when i was in my teens - love love him.

Prince was the guy who could wear eyeliner, heels, and still take your girl 💋
BANGER!!!!
"Prince, what are ya doin? Where are your clothes?" 😂🤣🤣
That used to be me back when he first hit the scene.😂

@@MrVideo123 I had a shot at being 1st, so damn close
@@julesvincent1113 Honestly Jules, I just got super lucky. I was actually in You Tube looking for something when Mr. Video uploaded. The timing was crazy.

@@RUSHChick I do love when that happens though
Raspberry Beret, Nothing Compares to You, If I Was Your Girlfriend and You Got the Look are some good Prince Hits

True
Oh, I absolutely love it when you recognise the hook and start joining in - I rewatched this part at least ten times - so funny!
💜 💯🔥 Glad you are doing more Prince !
Prince, sensual as hell. Reminds me of my Rob T. 🔥🔥🔥🔥 Love you, Rob.
I love you too, babe.

Brilliant song ☮️☮️🎵🎶🎵🎶
Prince is so unique.. true royalty of music that man. There is a beautiful version of this on the soundtrack for the 1996 movie of Romeo and Juliet. both soundtrack and movie are excellent
If you going to react to anymore Prince, try Darling Nikki 😉😂
YES YES YES!!!! Darling Nikki is a must!!💯💯🔥🔥❤❤
Tipper Gore's daughter was listening to the LP, and Darling Nikki started that whole PMRC bs with "Parental Advisory: Explicit Lyrics" sticker
@@djhrecordhound4391 Yup, it’s all Prince’s fault
@@mztweety1374 Actually, it was the wives of senators. Gore went batshit about her daughter hearing the song's lyrics.
Prince was the Shit when I was teenager...I remember when "Purple Rain" Premiered 🥰🕊️☮️✌️
From what I have read he wasn’t the nicest guy but he was extremely talented. I have been playing guitar for about 30 years and he may be one of the most underrated guitarist ever.
I dont want to hear ANY music from the nicest guy. 😂
HAAAA!!
YOU WANTED TO TAKE HIS HAND !
At that time half of the brazilian girls (me included) was in love with Prince. The other half was into Michael Jackson. :)
It's very hard to explain the sheer genius of Prince. He should be in the top 10 greatest guitarists of ALL time, but was very under estimated. R.I. P. to a great musician.
