I wish I recorded what we did with the a Cat. Pretty much the EXACT same thing but we didnt make it across before the angle of attack coming out pulled fuel from the injectors. What a pain in the arse for about 4 hours. In the snow. Not running. Hydraulics maxed out. Farm Jack's. 2 4x4 trucks yanking it back and forth. The only reason we got it out was determination. It's what you'd call 4 guys and an excavator!
New Pond Project in about 2 Month - lets Blaze that Trail with the Mini and start Digging Test Holes looking for Clay - You sounded very Happy with the Results ! That Pond will look Stunning - hey cant wait for You to start ! Nice Mini Ex . ! Cheers from Australia !!!!
Excellent, Need more of these future job type clips... Not only is Chris a Professional operator, he is also a Salesman, Congrats for the owner, Looking forward to it.
Sounds like a scaled down version of Beally Good's job. Lots of stumping, hauling, and re-contouring. Cool. Although this one looks to have a lot more top soil to work with at the end. Pretty rich looking too. More hardwoods? Less cedars? Lots of field wash from above? Cannot wait to see this one finished.
It's interesting the way you show and explain the process of finding the best salutation to properly lay out a new pond. Take care and I'll see you in the next one!👍🙏❤️🇺🇲
Looks like another really great project. Clear the area, push off topsoil, dig a core trench, dig clay and backfill and compact the dam, grade out the shorelines and regrade the topsoil. Then reseed and straw. Right in your wheelhouse, Chris. I love watching you develop a property like this! I will be watching !
This is going to be a beautiful pond when finished - it's lovely setting. Great that another big pond is on its way. Mini stuck - gave a perspective of the steepness.
Nice that a client purchased a Yanmar after seeing it on your channel, hopefully Yanmar are giving you a finder's bonus. 👍 That would be embarrassing saying to the client as your leaving, your Yanmar is parked in the wood.🤣😂🤣
We all got a lesson on getting out of a bind. You know you're a rockstar when you show up for a gig and they say " Here, use my equipment! ". That 550 would be handy for this one.
THAT... was a great, informative video. Thanks, Chris. I always enjoy when you show a "Before" like this. It really helps to see how you arrive at the final product when you show what you're starting and dealing with............
Chris I thought for a second when the tracks were spinning then out you pop. Hope you have a bucket of water to clean up the customer machine. Could this be a job for the 550? Would make quick work. Look forward to another beautiful deep water lake/pond. Another slice of beautiful land. Thanks Chris.
@@tonyhargrove2869 Yeah, but he has mentioned that he might need a Volvo 350 or 400 in the future, because those machines can be moved around without all the hassle the 550 requires, and they're still big enough to speed things up quite a bit. To the big ponds, the 220 seems just a tad too small.
Around 12:30 I was thinking Chris was gonna have to skip to the scenes where he had to bring in the equipment and start the pond immediately!! 😂😂 But first, we have to dig out your mini I buried in the bottom!!! Hope you don’t mind,,,,,, 😂😂😂😂. This will be a very nice pond Chris! Looking forward to the build!
Glad you showed us all of your survey work that leads to you being "the Pond Master". I was not worried about you getting stuck, you have unstuck lots worse before.
Looks like a great setting for a dream house and pond. I’ll tell ya the truth , I was a little worried when you sunk that mini because I know some of the smaller pieces of equipment don’t have the hyd. power to recover themselves. With that being said the X factor is the 20,000 hours of experience the guy operating that Yanmar has in excavators.
@@tiredoldmechanic1791 Went ahead and watched it a bit ago, Yeah Its never choice to get a 320 wet like that, 'ol buddy Hal is the master but Mr Wilbert is the Man.
I am sure of one thing, you will be successful building the lake. Anticipation and knowing where the dirt for the dam is going to be taken to be successful is the secret of Chris success.
It's fascinating watching how you can look at a site and see the pond inside. At the same time plan the dirt’s movement and the water’s management for its construction.
Funny how the last two customers have had identical machines to yours! Shows how positive your channel is to them. Volvo should definitely cut you a deal on one of those new released machines for free advertising

That will be a nice pond. I said to myself that I would have buried the machine good thing you were operating it cause I would have to have you get it unburied 😁.glad you got clay on-site.
This looks like another fun build. Hopefully not as much dirt moving as the last couple.😜Looking forward to this one, Chris. Hope you're having fun at ConExpo.
I expect there will be a LOT of dirt moving . . first move out the topsoil and cache it out of the way, then the same with the sand, then finally digging the core trench and starting to move in and pack the clay . . . then moving the sand back for the bottom and the beach, and the topsoil to finish off the edges of the fields and the back side of the dam. With luck all will be firm enough so the off-road truck doesn't sink. 🙂
Question for the community: If you could only afford one piece of equipment for a homestead, what would you buy? To build roads, site prep for a cabin, and a small pond….
I had mixed feelings when it looked like you were getting stuck. Didn’t want to wish a hardship on you but I was quite eager to watch you dig yourself out !
I am SO excited for this project :) and yes, I was slightly worried when you were crossing that creek but knew you'd nail it out of there no trouble :D

I’m looking forward to this one! What’s the exact reason for customers want a pond? Is it just because they want a pond or are they usually trying to dry and area out? Like in this case the hay Fields??
Knew you found decent clay on the one hole when the excavator started laboring harder to dig, lol. I've noticed that's usually a good sign when looking for clay from watching your videos over the years.
How far time-wise from home is this project? Another nice size pond build to watch you create. I'm thinking equipment needed for this project: new 220 with grapple and stumper, dump truck, club foot compactor, D6 and root rake, & Komatsu.
Love watching pond builds from start to finish.

I love when you post job exploration videos! It’s interesting to see all the planning that goes into the massive projects you do!
Nice to get in on the early planning stages of creating a pond. Look forward to it.
If you dig up enough sand you should make spawning beds with it or a beach.
Big Pond up next? And you'll testing a Volvo EC750E? That would be a dream.
Chris, good to see how you start to evaluate a pond site. There is more to it than just pulling up and starting. Greetings from Australia
