I dont understand why car makers charge such high prices for parts for older models. I would think they would incentivize enthusiasts to keep these older cars alive. Parts availability and high prices are probably of the top 5 reasons older cars are junked so quickly. Such a missed opportunity in my opinion.
It's hard to remember sometimes that this was the flagship car for porsche. The equivalent of the gt3 rs of that time. And a complete deviation from anything the company had done. The grommets by all rights should be pennies each, though. I think that mould has paid itself off by now
I remember when they came out in 77-78. I, at 12 boldly went into the Vancouver Porsche dealership and asked for a brochure and told him I was doing a book report on the history of the automobile. "You can have this brochure only if you cut this picture snd put it on the cover of your report". I did and my 🇩🇪 ancestry teacher was amazed. It helped me get top marks! 😁 Imagine how phenomenal that shape was in 1977. It was a space vehicle as far as I was concerned and *I got to sit in it*.

Probably because they can. The alternative is not having the parts, so they can write their own ticket.
Rather disappointing way to mount the sills. I can’t imagine they still manufacture them. I bought 2 only so it wasn’t too bad.
The worst part is that you can't remove them from the sill once the grommets are pressed in. If you repaint, you'll most likely need new grommets
Its like they think that the original owner still is spending the 💰 on the 928.
Pity that there wasn't an equivalent VW part available.

@@EJohnDanton that's an awesome story! It must have really felt like a spaceship in the late 70's!
