As someone that's not live in US, I thought all Americans are super rich so they're not even care about midrange smartphones and limited brand available 😅
Americans are very tired of spending $700-$1000+ for phones. Most people here just get a 2 year carrier contract and pay monthly for the phone, or the get a buy-one-get-one deal with a new service contract. But a lot of people nowadays want a cheap, flexible, prepaid carrier plan and a cheap unlocked phone that just works
Most of them aren't rich, but they like to look rich. There's people there that will go into debt to get the latest iPhones just so they don't seem "broke" to their friends and stangers instead of buying a midrange android within their budget
The exynos processor on this is great. Samsung finally nailed it with this one. It's not a perfect phone because the camera isn't great, but the performance is great on this. I don't think it performs that well in benchmark tests, but it never lags, never heats up, and great battery life.
Got this phone for my daughter a few months ago under USD 400 with a free Galaxy Fit 3. The fact it is not sold in the US surprises me a little bit but this is one of the best sellers worldwide so Samsung knows what they are doing.
Same here ... still using my A71 I got in March 2021 still works great. Bought A54 5G and just kept it waiting for this to break down. Have only replaced the screen 😊
I had an issue with my A71, whenever I make or receive a call, the person on the other end of the line always say that I keep breaking up, I tried getting it fixed, but they said it was a "carrier" issue, but I used the phone on 2 different carriers and the problem persisted. Other than that issue, it was a great phone, I now have a S23+ I got from AT&T trade in deal.
I got a71 at 2019 and used it until 2 months ago. I dropped it very bad and screen wasnt ok i wanted to change it and didnt bother with repari because it cost alot for 5 years old phone.
Solid video! I upgraded to an A55 from a Galaxy S10 because honestly, the A55 was 90% of the phone that the S24 was. It's definitely been a great phone, and I would recommend it to the same 90% who simply want the latest features, without the flagship price.
my S10 just died a month ago due to liquid damage (wasn't my fault at all) and i was pretty sad, as i had been using it for the last 4 years. luckily, a friend was selling his note 20 ultra, and he offered it to me for only $150, so i couldn't say no to that
The A52S nearly killed the FE line and the small S22-23 because of how good an overall deal it was for 350-400$/Euros while adding things like longer battery life, SD Card Reader 3.5mm Jack, the one reasons to jump up to the S Line at the time was really Software goodies (Like DEX) and a telephoto camera, but that costed you at least 300 More and for both mildly tech savvy people and average consumers it was difficult to justify that price premium for not really much percivable value, the next generations A53, 54 and 55 were nerfed by simply only updating the externals and letting the externals become obsolescent.
Exactly! The A52s is splendid when compared to all the rest of the phones that came later. They really nerfed the rest of the A5x series because they removed the 3.5mm jack and also bigger bezels. Worst of all are the processors
@@Crabby.1 the A55 simply caught up to what the A52S was sans the Headphone Jack and better build quality (if glass on glass is really that important) by all other metrics the A52S was the best overall midranger of it's generation, and the one after
Going from an Exynos M31 to an Exynos A54 the jump in performance is really great, so I'm more than confident that the A55 is gonna be a banger for anyone who buys it. Amazing video as always Wade!
This is even a better reason to buy one in EU land where Samsung decided we weren't worth having the snapdragon in the s24 so the gap between them is even less.
its not as big of a difference, the snapdragon isnt even that much more powerful or battery efficient and thermals are fine on exynos too the days of the infamous exynos 990 and 2100 are gone
Just got it yesterday after debating for weeks between the a55, z flip 6 and s24. A friend already had the a55 and that's what finally convinced me to keep half the price in my pocket and still get nearly everything the s24 has to offer. I'm honestly in love with it
@reemanmoghrabi7568 both are good but s21 does have a telephoto for better zoom photos. If camera is your main focus then s21 . But overall a55 is better value
Watching on my A55. "Upgraded" from my iPhone XR just last month. Bought it for the monster battery life which is very useful for field work, but the screen and sound are very enjoyable for RUclips, Netflix and LoL Wild Rift. I can say, though, that the software integration and ease of use from my iPhone was smoother and the photos have that je ne sais quoi, but the pros of the A55 outweigh its cons for my use case (and in managing my screentime). And I got my AI fix covered with the ChatGPT app on board. 2 days of no charging while on field work is just a *chef's kiss* Great review btw!
no no no, don’t worry, you upgraded from the iPhone XR. Even the processing power is slightly better, which is the main fault of the A series Samsung phones! Plus the iPhone XR may not get anymore updates after next year, so..
For someone who owns an S24 Ultra I would say this phone (A55) is the one to buy if you are smart. Software and security support for 5yrs, sd card, premium build, decent camera, great screen, 8gb ram on 256gb storage, gorgeous display. I bought 20 units for our users in the company because it’s just one of those phones out there that has a premium feel and brand with 3rd of the price.

Watching this on my A54… I was very hesitant at first because of the Exynos processor but turns out it's fine!
To add to it the exynos 1480 is a quite capable chip. Good enough for most average users. Close to the performance of a snapdragon 865. Which is enough for most users. This is only going to continue to improve each year. Great to see performance trickle down into the mid range as the years go by. I may use an s plus or s ultra device currently have an s24 ultra. But I definitely picked up the A55 for that sd card support to. Being able to drop in one of my 512gb or 1tb sd card is still a must especially on the go and while traveling. Storing movies, etc while only using the internal storage for apps. Plus I can drop games for emulation on my sd card and not having to worry about my storage being used up internally. Psp and dream cast games as well as 3ds games can add up to a lot of memory. If anyone's gaming for hours then just slap on a cooler with heat sink and cooling pad and sustained performance would be no issue.
I have an S24+. I'll be honest, just on physical aspect, this matches S24+. I've tested both in-store and was really surprised. The physical quality is so good! It is put together so well.
I don´t live in the US, so this was an instant purchase. Coming from an a70, this is a serious step up! I noticed it can get a little warm, but nothing unbearable or too bad. I freaking love this thing❤
As someone who is used to flagship samsung phones, the A55 definitely has its flaws, however the performance is pretty astounding. I play codm regularly and it doesnt lag, even whne power saving is on. The battery life is great, I can game for hours and phone will still have adequate charge to last the day. Only issues i have is the delay with the fingerprint and face id scanners. Otherwise amazing phone, looks great, works well. 9/10 😊
I used to work in electronics retail. The A54 and A55 are best sellers. There's hardly a phone that sells itself easier than those 2, apart from iphones.
I just bought it with $375 in Indonesia. (Included a charger as a gift). I was having an iPhone 15 pro, l sold it and bought this one. In my view, no phone worths paying $500+ but the Z Fold6, because it can be used as a phone and a tablet at the same time.
yeah its a great phone honestly for 95% or more people this phone is more than enough a lot of people will say "oh but its going to slow down a lot after a year or 2" i have an a51, a phone from december 2019 and it runs perfectly fine, its chipset gets 3x+ lower scores in benchmarks than the one on the a55 but its still decent i can feel its slower but nothing serious, people who claim this didnt even had a A5X phone themselves or had a defective model and now they think all A5X somethings are like that i feel like people just like to complain just for the sake of complaining and a lot of people are really biased as well "oh well you can buy an iphone 13 instead that phone has a way better camera and chipset!! a55 maybe only has a bit better battery" no it also has 120 hz, usb c, doesnt have a notch, 2 or 3x the ram, has a micro sd card slot, quite a lot longer lasting battery, better thermals, longer software support and so on but thats the thing people because of their bias will only exclusively look at the things that the phone that they like more does better i even saw comments such as "yeah s9 beats the a55 woo!!!" like what??? or "yeah a52s is better than a55" like genuinely stupid comments, they do this because THATS the phone that they have, they have an s8 therefore they will defend that phone same thing with the a52s "oh but it has a snapdragon" which means nothing since the exynos 1480 is better than the 778g and is more efficient and doesnt heat as much so yeah.............
I've been using this phone for over a month now. It's an absolutely solid all-round package. The processor is decent for the price, I never saw any lag or stutter and with light use the battery can last 2 days.
great objective review. I was disappointed when they dropped the 70 series phones a few years back in the same way they block the 50 series in the USA. Living now abroad and semi retired, I run the A55, and I am recommending my brother, coming to visit soon, get him an A55 while he is here.
Bought this phone for my grandma last month and I am jealous. It's phenomenal, and in a lot of way it's better than the S20 FE I'm still using. Much better build quality, better screen, better battery life. Sure my S20 FE still has a stronger processor and better camera, but you know what it doesn't have? 7 years of software support, which the A55 has. Software support ended on my S20 FE ended back in 2022 smh. If my S20 FE wasn't still going strong, I'd go for the A55 in a heartbeat
Just got this phone, moving from the s22 feels like a huge upgrade. While on paper the s22 has better performance, the a55 feels completely solid, is just as quick, best battery I've ever had on a phone too.
@@TechDaily the s22 had the snapdragon 8 gen 1 and exynos 2200 which were infamous for having thermal issues and battery efficiency issues, the s23 fe which has the same chipset as the s22 series had 50% lower SOT than the a55 and it gets hotter than the a55 too
@mikaela43523 Honestly my s22's battery was terrible and it would get so hot, it was very fast and performed well but the battery and heating issues were awful
@@chickhicks6208 yeah its pretty bad when it comes to battery and thermals and fun fact i bought a 256/8 gb a55 for 330 USD but i also got a galaxy watch fe for free with the phone and i sold that in pawn shop for 160 so its as if the phone only cost 170$ which is a steal of a deal
So I'm gonna be honest I am an iPhone owner and honestly for the longest time. I've wanted my mother to buy an iPhone but she loves Samsung. She always had the note lineup after the Samsung Galaxy note series died off we were searching for other Samsung alternatives, and to be honest, my mother doesn't do much with her phone. She does web browsing some Facebook some casual photos here, and there, and I being the technological geek (maybe not) made the wise choice to buy her a mid range Samsung phone. And it all started with the Samsung A71. This phone was great because it was big, but it had some issues causing the phone to have some screen problems after that we were searching for another phone and saw the A54. This phone is great honestly has all the features that we were looking for has great battery life a high refresh rate screen and honestly for what my mother wanted it for it's absolutely perfect and nothing less than just perfect so for anyone who is looking for something that is just for media consumption and regular phone usage without much gaming involve this phone is for you. If I wasn't invested in the Apple ecosystem, this phone would be very attractive to me.
I must say i am impressed how far these A series phones have come. I had an A31 back in 2020, mainly bought it as a secondary phone and while it is pretty good when i tried to use it as my main phone for a few days i just couldn't. This is coming from an exynos galaxy S10 owner as my daily (well back then anyway) so while it was a good phone for your average moderate user it was just too slow for me. Almost everything else was great about it though except the main Camara. I noticed that the main lens had difficulty focusing on close-up objects. Something not present on the S10. Moving on 4 years later my daily is now a galaxy S20 5G. I recently found the A15 5G open box for 119$ and decided to get it as i needed a secondary phone anyway as i had given my A31 to my mother and my S10 had it's own issues. When i got the phone it was basically brand new. Not even the plastic on the frame has been removed. Literally 100% flawless and you could never tell that it was used it it wasn't for the open box. I must say i am quite happy with it. It's not perfect and it is missing some important features to me that Samsung intentionally seems to leave out on their budget phone Samsung sound assistant app When i tried to install the "Samsung sound assistant" application but the Galaxy store said that my phone was incompatible with it. I downloaded an APK and installed it that way and it worked flawlessly. Again a software limitation just because it's a budget line phone but why? The app is clearly fully compatible. It works just as well on this device as it does on my S20 and tab S9+ i really don't understand the need to say that it isn't compatible and prevent users from installing it. Otherwise the phone is a good deal for the price. Especially for what i got it for. Mine is the higher end model with 6 gigs of RAM and the experience is definitely much better than the A31 i had in 2020. Like if i had to I could 100% use this device (with a few limitations) but otherwise it is great. I was mainly impressed by now good and clear the screen on it is. Samsung's definitely heading in the right direction with these A series phones and I'm kinda impressed.
You don't have to buy s series for 1000 dollars. You can get any s series at the price range you want, just not the latest and greatest and they still will dance on any A series phone
I bought an S20 (snapdragon) for 250$ last year. After using it for 1 year, I'm amazed to see how powerful SD 865 is till this day. This thing never lags. I can record 4k 60fps videos on the SD card. I'm more than happy with my 250$ s20.
@tawsikabdullah I bought the s22 ultra off someone a few months ago for 300 and traded it in for the s24 ultra , b4 that my note 10 plus and it's still a champ
I went from the S10 to Zflip 4 to the A55. And the A55 has been amazing till now. Its just perfect for my use case. The zflip 4 did not survive more than a year with my use case.
I work for a mobile carrier in the uk and I sell a tonne of a series devices. Customers don’t usually know what device to pick. Most customers either currently have or have had a Samsung device In the past so it is a brand they trust. The a55 is a cracking device with an amazing screen. I’d say a good 5/10 devices I sell. IOS AND ANDROID. Are A series Samsungs
I bought this nice device 3 months ago next to my Galaxy S24 Ultra. This A55 is a very good device with the SD Card so i have all my photo's since 2008 even from my latest Nokia devices. Battery life is fantastic. Screen also, speakers also very good. My main reason to buy it was for having my SD Card back in a phone.
Switched from a Poco f6 to A55 after several years of being a "MUH POWERFUL CHIPSET" kinda guy, because I got a taste of the newest One UI in tab S9 FE I bought for work purposes. It might count as a downgrade in the chipset department as Exynos 1480 is considerably weaker in benchmark etc. But I'm glad I changed, because One Ui is just that good (or hyper Os is just that bad and I'm just realizing it's flaw little by little) even with a much weaker processor, everything feels so smooth, no sudden freeze, lagspikes, annoying little bugs here and there, and Knox is really a blessing to have. It is surprising honestly, while the reason I changed were mainly because of the OS, the performance I get were still enough, and the premium build quality feels impressive. I'm still not going to be a Samsung guy because of the stinginess of theirs (separate adapter, no earphone jack - which is understandable for the IP67 but still) but overall this is one of the better options for anyone looking for a midrange
I still think buying a flagship from a year or two ago is the best way for me. It's crazy how much the price tanks after the hype. Heck you can get a new pixel 8 for half the price from last year With the longer software updates I plan on never buying a budget phone when I can buy a new flagship from last year for the same price
Yeah, thank Samsung & Google and other Android phone makers for that. They discount preorders, they discount through carriers, basically no one pays full price. And if you somehow do, you get boinked after a year when the phone is worth $200 lol
I've been an iPhone user for a bit more than a decade, but I got disillusioned on many things about such brand. I've been ding some research on what to get next as my last iPhone was dying. I decided to get an a55 over the S24 (and over other Android brands as well), and I was blown away on what I got for such a fraction of a price on an Apple mobile. Yeah it's not perfect, but it is so good on so many things. No way back now.
An amazing thing I noticed in US was the readiness to hold debt. Not shipping mid-range phones in US makes sense because if a certain phone is out of the price range, the customer will just take credit card debt. Or some other installment plan. In other countries lack of mid-range phones would just lead to a drop in sales.
Watching this on my A55. Your review is spot on. I also have a 23Ultra, but this A55 feels about 80% the same. I use this when i charge my Ultra, it has good display and battery life. No regrets getting one!
I want to make a jump from S10 to A55. Looks like it has everything I would like in my next phone: a large capacity battery and capability of using a microSD card.
The only reason why I'll prolly choose a flagship Samsung over an A-series is because of the cameras only lmao but everything else, I dont really mind since it's not that far off from the higher end devices.
depends which flagship S series phone the a55 has an objectively better camera than the one on s10+ as an example and a more powerful chipset, sure it is a 2019 phone but thats the thing, eventually A series phones will overtake the older flagships, even compared to the s20 i would still pick an a55 over an s20 or even an s21 for me it only begins with the s22 series where id pick an s22 over the a55 but again even that phone has its own issues which the a55 doesnt have, battery and thermals being the most notable ones due to it having the infamous snapdragon 8 gen 1/exynos 2200 which are both pretty bad when it comes to the battery life and thermals
You know the A54's vibrant camera almost on par on their flagship phones. If only Samsung maintain or improve the A55's camera from A54 then you almost have 90% flagship parts at half of the price from their flagship phones. Plus, better and no over-heating Exynos processor and bigger battery capacity.
@@LeonLego it has improved the cameras from the a54 what are you talking about, do you even have an a55? + not all exynos chips overheat and have bad battery efficiency, what are you talking about
I think this is the perfect upgrade from my aging S8+. Then again, my S8+ refuses to go quietly-lol It still does everything I need it to do. Decisions, Decisions!
The only drawback of this phone is the exenos. Someone will say it needed the wireless charging, but it's unnecessary who uses the wireless charging when we have wired charging.
What people dont realize is that the a55 is basically a note 20 ultra with a flat screen, no stylus, no wireless charging, a little worse resolution and just newer
i been using it since release, replaceing from my old a70 it is great midrange phone, i glad buying it, good battery, screen, decent camera on the class, premium like, what else you wanted at the price point, good phone
The biggest thing that is annoying me with samsung is how the one ui 7 leaks (especially the dynamic island and new icons) seems like they are going full force on trying to be bootleg apple. I left apple because i was tired of them and now samsungs trying to be apple
Apple is laughing all the way to the bank. They cracked the code. But it is going the other way around too Apple is trying to be like Android. We are getting the same type of product from different brands. Companies gave up innovating a long time ago.
@@cgienthusiast N coming up with feature rich ios updates will be a problem. iPhones come with the tiniest spec upgrades. It is just a bunch of percentages thrown around as their marketing usp. They will not only lose their individuality but it will be harder to send the newest update to older iPhones. Also since I decided to give iPhone a shot their battery life becomes a problem later on with bug fix updates and ios updates. For android it is the opposite they come with a much higher battery capacity so the drop in battery life isn’t noticeable.
@Wilbur-em1hw I live in the US as well and I know when ios 18 comes out the oldest supported ios devices like the iPhone xs and iphone xr will probably face battery life problems because of the bad battery capacity and that the software has added so much more features
@@varshniveralevel8347 nope, just a perfectionist, to the point that something like this annoys me a lot in daily use, but well the comment is a joke ofc
Watching this on my samsung a55 5g. Newly bought so I dont have any feedbacks yet haha but will do after a few days. So far so good, smooth looks good.
Whats gonna happen is that the a55 will become the a36 next year and then there will hopefully be a new a56 with better specs hopefully i feel like if they could get the exynos 1680 in the a56 reach 1 million score in antutu benchmark it would be a great phone.
Personaly I am currently using the highly underrated Galaxy S21 FE. It's a true flagship phone with flagship specs. In the 256GB version you get a Snapdragon 888 processor which is plenty powerful enough for even the most demanding of games, like Genshin Impact. The camera setup is also impressive. The battery easily lasts a day for normal everyday use and Samsung have promised major updates up to Android 16 which should take you through until late 2027. You can pick one up on the refurbished market for around $250. Comes highly recommended 👍😊
Y'all can buy the Galaxy A55 in online U.S stores only that sell it (such as Amazon & others, all hope ain't lost, it's just the device is sold only online in the U.S, not physical stores, unless you manage to find one at a physical store) :)
I own an A54 an had it for hunt over a year. It does the job, but battery life is not very good. Not getting an A55, will see what next years A series has to offer.
I bought my Mum (57) a Pixel 7a and she is over the moon. Unless you're working in a specific career or field that demand the raw performance that a flagship phones offers you're really not missing out on much outside of perhaps the cameras.
I bought this A55 a month ago from Woot (open box) for only $275 8/256gb, it was like new. Nothing was missing from the package, just a customer return. It has been amazing compared to the A35, which is not a bad device by any means but the extra 2gb of ram on the A55 really make a difference in UI performance 🎉 Edit: forgot to add that I received an update yesterday and Circle to search was added, animations feel smother and the August security update. Samsung has been nice when it comes to updates to midrange devices
The A55 LACKS Samsung DEX, wireless charging, AND reverse wireless charging! These are ALL things I need to day-to-day operation. Yeah, some will say the SD card storage option is great but with a 256GB storage phone or MORE this is NOT an issue. I NEED wireless charging and DEX to do what I gotta do! I CANNOT live with an "A" series phone and running the S23FE which is a little bit more but offers SO many more features... AND is still affordable..
Honestly, I've moved on from using a Samsung as my main device, mainly because of locked bootloaders on flagships. I am using a Pixel 6 with a custom ROM and Tello, and I love it.
In India it sells for 40k (500$) and samsung s23 FE sells for 34k (430$) soo it's really not a wise choise to buy here. Even the s23 will come around 45k (550$) sometimes.
The Exynos package is inferior, but as this video implies, the latest and greatest from Snapdragon needs to be revised for most people. My main issue is that the modem is vastly inferior to Qualcomm, leading to more heat and battery draw. The Gen-3 of the 4nm Exynos modem seems to have closed the gap, but I am unsure if that applies to the modem in this chip.
I'm using the A35 and I actually forgot that I'm using an Exynos 1380 chipset phone. No lags, super stable, good battery life, performs well and very snappy. I even turn off the RAM Plus feature.
The Galaxy A, especially the A7x, was actually starting to overshadow the standard Galaxy S and S+ (it must be said that for at least 3 years, they were too expensive for what they were). On the other hand, the S23s were a magnificent vintage 🤌🏽, and If, and only if, Samsung has the intelligence to keep them in its catalog, the old Galaxy S (S23s) will become a real godsend for Samsung from next year when they will be sold around $400-$500 new, they will become for Samsung what the iPhone 11 was for a long time for Apple 🍏
I think we will see this phone as the s24 FE in a month or two for a $700 price with wireless charging and a better processor. Is that worth 300 extra?? Not to me I'll probably be getting one of these soon.
Reason for me not buying S24 and FE series is unavailability of Sd card, but if you have notions about why we need it... I would say backup.. Also A55 has it😊
My hope is that we are rapidly approaching the point where everyday people figure out they don't need to new phone every year and a system that has annual "upgrades" is unsustainable and stupid. Hopefully we are getting to the point where is makes more business sense to release a new phone every 2-3 years instead b/c they are losing money on constant R&D and materials releasing slight changes every year.
I use an S24 Ultra, but I can't deny that the prices of the S24 series are ridiculous. Samsung knows that their A series are the best sellers because they are cheaper and include some features that their flagships do not have. The reality is people are starting to shift their focus towards budget and midrange phones as value for money becomes more important. If Apple's rumored iPhone SE (4th generation) ends up being true, Samsung is going to have tough competition in the midrange market. They basically have two choices, either beef up the A50 series and make it available in the U.S., or lower the price of the FE.
Let's be real: Neither Samsungs or Apple's offerings are really at all competitive in the midrange market. In the US, you have the Oneplus 12R, elsewhere, you have the Realme GT 6T, Xiaomi 13T/Pro, Iqoo Z9 Turbo, Nothing 2a. Depending on if you need performance, camera, battery life or a mixture thereof, in most of the world, there are options. Many of which absolutely outclass either of the mainstream brands.
@Cantripping Absolutely. The only problem is that the alternative offerings are not selling as well due to either lack of availability or advertising. The OnePlus 12R is a great option in the U.S., but OnePlus not working with carriers is hurting them. They need to start selling their phones in AT&T, Verizon, and U.S. Cellular. If we look at the sales numbers, Samsung continues to dominate the midrange market globally, even though their offerings are not the best. As for Apple, the current iPhone SE is nowhere to be found on the 10 best selling smartphones list.
With AI coming to the A series, the S series will basically give you a higher setting for gaming and camera experience. Aside from that, you better off saving the money getting an a55. The small difference in time opening apps really makes little difference.
I recently purchased Samsung certified Renewed S23+ with 1 year factory warranty/option to add Samsung care+ 36 month extended warranty for 10.00 monthly. It's basically a brand new device. They were selling 256gb for 779,00 + hefty discount on trade in. I received 300.00 for S20fe resulting in total device cost 469.00 plus tax 512.00 = outstanding deal. I also added extended warranty into mix. Side by side with A55 , S23+ is big winner on many levels. Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 has a lot to do with that , better display etc.
I feel like those people who complain about the exynos chips might not have even actually used a phone with one. Cheap phones are getting better LITERALLY
Yea I gotta moto g stylus 5g 2024 for 200 dollars. Love it!
You can't really have rich people without poor people to take advantage of, as they say. Or something like that.
Americans are far from rich tbh. Most of us are middle to lower class living paycheck to paycheck.
I’m glad it’s performing well for you! I haven’t experienced any issues either but some people are a little critical
Agreed. 1480 is great .

Got this phone for my daughter a few months ago under USD 400 with a free Galaxy Fit 3. The fact it is not sold in the US surprises me a little bit but this is one of the best sellers worldwide so Samsung knows what they are doing.
Purchased a Samsung A71 just before Covid hit in 2020!! Still works perfectly fine!! Peace From London. 🙏🙏
I miss my A71. That was my favorite phone before I got my current s22 ultra. The Ultra is great but the A71 to me was peak
Bought mine (a71) september 2020 and it is performing so great upto this time. I bought a55 last June of this year and I am loving my new phone.
I got a71 at 2019 and used it until 2 months ago. I dropped it very bad and screen wasnt ok i wanted to change it and didnt bother with repari because it cost alot for 5 years old phone.

Watching this on my Galaxy A35, which just got an update for circle-to-search.❤
Typing this on my A52s. Brought it in 2021. Still running like butter. Will keep it for 1-2 more years.

Amazing video as always Wade!
This is even a better reason to buy one in EU land where Samsung decided we weren't worth having the snapdragon in the s24 so the gap between them is even less.
its not as big of a difference, the snapdragon isnt even that much more powerful or battery efficient and thermals are fine on exynos too

2 days of no charging while on field work is just a *chef's kiss*
Great review btw!
no no no, don’t worry, you upgraded from the iPhone XR. Even the processing power is slightly better, which is the main fault of the A series Samsung phones! Plus the iPhone XR may not get anymore updates after next year, so..
Thanks for this feedback. Been thinking whether to go for this or not, but I think I'll go for it.

Dude, even my S23 and S23 Ultra get a bit warm sometimes (especially during hotter days), so it's normal.
I bought a Galaxy A52 3 year ago, and it is still working perfectly fine.
In my view, no phone worths paying $500+ but the Z Fold6, because it can be used as a phone and a tablet at the same time.
yeah its a great phone
honestly for 95% or more people this phone is more than enough
a lot of people will say "oh but its going to slow down a lot after a year or 2" i have an a51, a phone from december 2019 and it runs perfectly fine, its chipset gets 3x+ lower scores in benchmarks than the one on the a55 but its still decent i can feel its slower but nothing serious, people who claim this didnt even had a A5X phone themselves or had a defective model and now they think all A5X somethings are like that
i feel like people just like to complain just for the sake of complaining and a lot of people are really biased as well "oh well you can buy an iphone 13 instead that phone has a way better camera and chipset!! a55 maybe only has a bit better battery" no it also has 120 hz, usb c, doesnt have a notch, 2 or 3x the ram, has a micro sd card slot, quite a lot longer lasting battery, better thermals, longer software support and so on
but thats the thing
people because of their bias will only exclusively look at the things that the phone that they like more does better
i even saw comments such as "yeah s9 beats the a55 woo!!!" like what??? or "yeah a52s is better than a55" like genuinely stupid comments, they do this because THATS the phone that they have, they have an s8 therefore they will defend that phone same thing with the a52s
"oh but it has a snapdragon" which means nothing since the exynos 1480 is better than the 778g and is more efficient and doesnt heat as much so yeah.............
I've been using this phone for over a month now. It's an absolutely solid all-round package. The processor is decent for the price, I never saw any lag or stutter and with light use the battery can last 2 days.
I have the A53 5G from last year. I'll just wait another year and get the A56 5G when it comes out.
great objective review.
Glad you’re liking it! I think the S22 -> A55 switch is perfectly fine. New phone, bigger display, bigger battery 🤷
@@TechDaily the s22 had the snapdragon 8 gen 1 and exynos 2200 which were infamous for having thermal issues and battery efficiency issues, the s23 fe which has the same chipset as the s22 series had 50% lower SOT than the a55

It's not perfect and it is missing some important features to me that Samsung intentionally seems to leave out on their budget phone Samsung sound assistant app
When i tried to install the "Samsung sound assistant" application but the Galaxy store said that my phone was incompatible with it.
Samsung will no longer update the Android version on Galaxy s20 and final security patch on the s20 was March 2024.

I work for a mobile carrier in the uk and I sell a tonne of a series devices. Customers don’t usually know what device to pick. Watching this video using my Samsung A55 5g phone Lilac 😅 So far, I don't encounter problems with this phone yet. It's so amazing.
Heck you can get a new pixel 8 for half the price from last year
With the longer software updates I plan on never buying a budget phone when I can buy a new flagship from last year for the same price
Yeah, thank Samsung & Google and other Android phone makers for that. They discount preorders, they discount through carriers, basically no one pays full price. And if you somehow do, you get boinked after a year when the phone is worth $200 lol
@@TechDaily exactly !!

In other countries lack of mid-range phones would just lead to a drop in sales.

the a55 has an objectively better camera than the one on s10+ as an example and a more powerful chipset, sure it is a 2019 phone but thats the thing, eventually A series phones will overtake the older flagships, even compared to the s20 i would still pick an a55 over an s20 or even an s21
for me it only begins with the s22 series where id pick an s22 over the a55 but again even that phone has its own issues which the a55 doesnt have, battery and thermals being the most notable ones due to it having the infamous snapdragon 8 gen 1/exynos 2200 which are both pretty bad when it comes to the battery life and thermals

TechDaily, I really enjoyed watching this, so I hit the like button!
Hey thanks! 👍
The problem is not Exynos in general. The problem is The Exynos 1480 is pretty weak compared to processors offered by other brands in this price range.
Ye I agree, compared with other phones or the flagships using the new SD and exynos, it's alot weaker
Y'all can buy the Galaxy A55 in online U.S stores only that sell it (such as Amazon & others, all hope ain't lost, it's just the device is sold only online in the U.S, not physical stores, unless you manage to find one at a physical store) :)
You can buy it, but they are not marketing or promoting it in the US.
I own an A54 an had it for hunt over a year. It does the job, but battery life is not very good. Not getting an A55, will see what next years A series has to offer.
If the mid-tier phone can do 95% of the stuff the flagship phone can do, I could see why someone would just get the mid-tier phone.
I bought my Mum (57) a Pixel 7a and she is over the moon. Unless you're working in a specific career or field that demand the raw performance that a flagship phones offers you're really not missing out on much outside of perhaps the cameras.
About 11:50 , I just got circle to search from an update in my A55 last night, sooo
I bought this A55 a month ago from Woot (open box) for only $275 8/256gb, it was like new. Nothing was missing from the package, just a customer return. It has been amazing compared to the A35, which is not a bad device by any means but the extra 2gb of ram on the A55 really make a difference in UI performance 🎉
Edit: forgot to add that I received an update yesterday and Circle to search was added, animations feel smother and the August security update.
Similar thing was with Galaxy M51. They slapped in 7000 mah battery, realised it sells too good, cancelled it and nerfed M52 with 5000 mah battery.
Honestly, I've moved on from using a Samsung as my main device, mainly because of locked bootloaders on flagships. I am using a Pixel 6 with a custom ROM and Tello, and I love it.
The new Pixel 9 no longer supports full bootloading; you lose many features, including all the AI stuff.
@@andyH_England I know; but it could be added in custom ROMs with serious finessing and coding to get it back, if that's possible.
As someone from a third world country. I agree, but also: A35 is enough for me. 😅
13:46 Megapickles💀
Lol I thought I was the only one who caught that lol
@@AhTu1306 there’s another commenter who mentioned it lol😅

I'm using the A35 and I actually forgot that I'm using an Exynos 1380 chipset phone. No lags, super stable, good battery life, performs well and very snappy. I even turn off the RAM Plus feature.
We have the A51 as our business line. It's awesome for what we use.
Watching on my a55 it's just perfect. I just got circle to search too
Glad to see some AI hitting these A Series…!
Circle to search is basically google lens where you had to take a screenshot and crop to search. What's the big AI deal in it.
@@Lucy_595 you can also highlight
@Lucy_595 it's similar to screen search but with less steps to complete
Is the a35 camera better? Did they upgrade the a55 camera yet? Plz tell me
I currently have this A55 plus a Poco F5 Pro. I love these great value phones.
if the a55 had wireless charging... i think their S line phones would take a huge dive.
Take note that the top rank list is for the monetary sales not units sold. The top phones units sold still are the android phones
Hi there, what camera are you using while recording this?
Where can I download your wallpaper? Looks really nice :)
With AI coming to the A series, the S series will basically give you a higher setting for gaming and camera experience. Aside from that, you better off saving the money getting an a55. The small difference in time opening apps really makes little difference.
I agree with everything you said. This phone seems much better than S24 Plus which is double the price.
I am happy with my A55, S23 and S23FE only have the small screens and the S23+ is way more expensive than the A55.
Agreed
From where did you get the wallpaper it's amazing
Looking to get my first Samsung phone. Would this be better than a Pixel 8A?
I feel like those people who complain about the exynos chips might not have even actually used a phone with one.
Cheap phones are getting better LITERALLY
If you are not a gamer, you shouldn't complain about Exynos
This phone is a decent all rounder
