@@3dd373 I never hated Gabi. Her reaction was and still is 100% expected and justifiable. If you can't see how her character's situation is similar to that of Eren as a child, then you've gotta do some better reading between the lines.
So both the Eldian and Marleyan perceptions of Ymir were accurate in their own right. There is truly no distinction between good and evil, this series is a masterpiece!
Yeah, both were right and at the same time wrong in theri perception about her. They perceived her as this demon and a goddess but in reality, she was just a slave. Just how much tragedy these characters in snk had to went through
@Neverlandia i have one reprecussion; we know that inorder to convert into a titan shifter a person must become a pure, mindless titan first. This goes for the members of the royal family too( as we have seen with the transformation of Frieda). Yet when it comes to Ymir's children and their successors they just obtained the power directly through crude cannibalism 🤣
@@fatimakifayat9354 I guess that they can obtain the powers through cannibalism in the present as well, but because technology has advanced they can turn directly into titans and eat the person. Which is less traumatic in my opinion.
I mean there's a ton of equally or more tragic characters in other manga I mean nina had it pretty terrible before scar put that abomination to rest or Griffith pre eclipse/guts or casca post eclipse. Umm there's ciel (the kid)in Baccano! or homura akemi, goosh goosh guy etc.
Eren: I am the most tragic character. Mikasa: hold my scarf Reiner: hold my armour plot Levi: hold my tea Historia: hold my baby Grisha: hold my basement Ymir: hold my Paths.
Okay here are the people who have had an ACTUAL bad life: Reiner Bertolt Annie (maybe) Grisha Ymir Ymir (2) Levi Historia (kind of but not anymore) Zeke
The first chapter of this manga is titled "to you 2000 years from now" and there were a lot of theories on why Isayama used this bizarre title and the meaning of the dream Eren had right at the beginning of the story. At first glance, I thought the title meant that the story was set in some kind of post-apocalyptic future but we know that's not the case. Reading this chapter I think it all comes together beautifully. When Eren said "You have been waiting all this time, since 2000 years ago, for someone" I realized what the title of the first chapter really meant. The dream Eren has at the beginning of the episode was clearly some kind of interaction between him and Ymir. She was calling to him, 2000 years in the future (just like the title says) asking to be saved and set free. From that point on Eren became obsessed with freedom and we know the rest of the story, but I'd like to think that everything was meant to bring him to that point thanks to the same power the Attack Titan uses. the power to go forward, the power to gain freedom
Eren was obssesed with freedom even before that.He says "he was born free" the reason the attack titan fought was because they were led by Eren's will of freedom
@@user-uc7zf1xd8p do we have scenes before the Dream he had in ep 1 that show his obsession? Armin was always curious because of his parents but eren? Hannes Is reacting to his livestock argument like he heard It for the first time
@@user-uc7zf1xd8p I thought that was more like a "fight for your survival" kind of thinking, less focused on actual freedom from boundaries and more on wanting to survive. I'm gonna rewatch that scene tho. I've also been thinking that the whole thing where the Reiss family accepted the King's Will after inheriting the founding titan could also have been ymir's doing. Forcing them to keep things as they were so that she could meet Eren. If you think about it, that's her only chance to get away from the Fritz family in 2000 years. With the power of the Attack Titan she could have seen It since the beginning somehow.
He really did. Fun fact, the bird that shows up at the very first panel of the very first chapter is a cormorant, or looks very similar to it. It's a coastal bird.
On the thing that connected to Ymir's spine. It's either based on a creature from Norse mythology called Nidhogg, who feasts on the great world tree Yggdrasil that connects the nine realms in Norse mythology(which can be paralleled with the nine titants). Or it's a creature from the Cambrian era called a hallucigenia. Honestly, when Ymir started crying , even though we've only really known her for this one chapter, in that moment I thought, "Yeah, I'd be okay with Eren ending the world."
@@shopekuax2067 because this is what an author wants, otherwise he would have told us, they want us guessing what happens next or could be just so they can subvert our expectations
I think you're right- in Norse mythology, the body of the original Ymir was used to create the world- here Ymir's body has been used to create one of the most important parts of this world. If we want to understand this story we have to look to Norse mythology to understand it properly

Neverlandia sir you do know that she was probably born into slavery. Slavery was all she knew. She only betrayed the royal family because someone told her she had a choice.
Neverlandia well yes. All her life or most of her she has been a slave. Yes she could have left but she’s a slave. She’s brainwashed. She wants to be free who wouldn’t but she’s literally been brainwashed. I don’t think you understand the effects slavery has on peoples minds.
I just thought about something: Colossal Titan - Ymir's physical size and strength being a titan. Female Titan - Ymir's being a girl. Cart Titan - The workhorse. Probably about Ymir being a slave who has to bear the weight of servitude in her life. Her subservience. Warhammer Titan - Ymir's role as Eldia's weapon of destruction. Armored Titan - Ymir's as the "armor". The way she is willing to put others before her. Would even take a spear for the king. Jaw Titan - Ymir as the devil. Marleyans see her as the devil. For some reason every time I see the picture of the devil giving an apple to Historia, I see the Jaw Titan Ymir and how it interacts with Historia. Beast Titan - The Eldian king and his role in Ymir's life. Probably why the beast is prominently used by Zeke, being of royal blood. And how he commands the other Eldians (mindless titans). Attack Titan - The part of Ymir that wants to disobey and go against the path laid out for her. The one she reached out to who understood her need to be free.
@@anushamuzaffardeshmukh1079 Thanks. I also thought about the reason why mindless titans eat other people. It's the will of king Fritz imposed on the second line (Maria, Rose, Shina) telling them to devour to gain Ymir's power. And they've been eating endlessly ever since.
@@Slayton1978 Yeah it really does. At the end of the day when I finished it whole the only thought in my mind was "Everyone is enslaved to something. Be it money, power, dream or freedom" (Kenny said something along those lines). And now I'm sitting here questioning my existence.

Iseyama is pure genius. I always assumed the ending just told the story of their departure to paradis then reflecting the current war between eldians and Marley
Even the name of the VERY FIRST chapter was planned out carefully, everything was in place from the beginning. I have never read such a well-coordinated story ever, and I don't know if something will come this close ever again.
Jay Penrake Also there is a song called building blocks that tells the story of Ymir building the Titans, but not wanting to, and it being an endless cycle from season one.
Yes he actually is as you know the titans have different features representing ymirs body features Which in this case eren the attack titan is a resemblance of her heart
Both Eren and the attack titan are extensions of Ymir’s will to be free and her hatred of the other titans that even in death she was forced to creat in the paths world. She wanted to be free Eren gave her that. She wanted all the titans to be destroyed so does Eren. Both her and Eren want to achieve this by destroying the current world and resetting it back to the time before the titans. Ymir’s and Eren’s wills are the same as the attack titan was made by Ymir to achieve her desire for freedom and the elimination of the other titans....this will gets passed to every user of the attack titan and thus eventually came to manifest its self in Eren.
After seeing this chapter I truly believe without a doubt in my mind that the attack Titan is the living incarnation of ymir's will to be free to fight for anyone who's had their freedom taken from them and that the founding Titan is the living incarnation of King Fritz well to subjugate ymir's descendants and the rest of the world shackling them into slavery And now it makes a whole lot of sense from the first chapters name To you 2000 years from now From you 2000 years ago Because she's been waiting this whole time, since 2000 years ago for someone To break the cycle
The part where king fritz made those girls eat ymirs body was dark as hell. Real disturbing stuff there but damn!!! This manga is unbelievable, it gets better and better and worth the wait!!
@@cossaizy6309 nop, looking at norse mythology which aot is based on. the 9 titans (connected by the Paths & Coordinate) parallels with the 9 realms connected by the Yggdrasil tree. So it makes sense for there to only be 9 shifters
Hot take: The Attack Titan embodies not humanity's - but instead Ymir's - will to attain freedom and fight against oppression. In other words, it was never Eren's own willpower or personality which facillitated his unnaturally high desire for freedom - it was simply a trait passed from a repressed part of Ymir to Eren via PATHS (and the previous holders of the Attack Titan, I guess). Eren has not just been a slave to himself (i.e. his desire for freedom), but more broadly, he's been a slave to the suppressed desires of Ymir Fritz. I wonder, if, as if you say, Eren has given Ymir freedom, will he himself still desire freedom? Will he feel empty inside, guilty, perhaps, after seeing the eventual effects of the Rumbling? Will he perhaps rebel against the wishes of Ymir? Could his ACTUAL desires have been surpressed by Ymir's desire for freedom? Even if this tinfoil hat-theory isn't true, I think it's an interesting question to ponder; If Eren has - because of the time loop and thusly his influence in major events throughout the past (like Grisha kiling the Reiss family) - always had his actions predetermined for him, as well having embodied the desire for freedom which Ymir Fritz had -- has he, himself, ever really been Free?
@@sagittariusstudios8614 Yeah, driven along by the plot, you're right. I just think that his comments were more in the external sense, but good point too dude.

@@NoName-ze4qn the spine thing did not cause any suffering. The King commanding the mother of his children, to such a cruel life is what caused this. This is where Erens intense hatred for 'weakness' stems from. ALL of this could have been avoided if Ymir had just used her own power to kill the King before allowing him to do so much evil.
Riyan Gajbhiye you think that’s a cool connection then get ready to have your mind blown. One of the stories from marleyan history was the tragedy of lago which was that titans came from the sea and devastated the marleyans living there. When the survivors escaped into the wilderness Eldia placed titans in their path so that when the sun rises the titans will attack them. In the season 2 end credits the same thing happens of the titans rising from the sea, the tragedy of lago, the survivors escaping in the wilderness, the sun rising and the titans with it. If this connection is correct then we will know what the end credits was foreshadowing
The two horns were probably taken from viking helmets, since Isayama drew inspiration from Norse mythology. Ymir is a Norse god. She got her powers from the Yggdrasil tree that connects nine realms(How many shifters do we have?)
When Ymir falls into the slightly phallic shaped tree, its entrance is almost vaginal shaped. Then she falls into liquid which you could link to amniotic fluid etc and thus she is reborn as the first titan. The imagery doesn't add much to the story at all, but I love finding these sorta subtle meanings. Reminds me a lot of Pan's Labyrinth... wonder if Isayama took inspiration from that at all for that scene.
The entire inspiration behind Ymir, the great tree, source of living mater, etc, is Nordic mythology. Just as Pan and his labyrinth have connections to it. So you are right, in a sense.

I noticed a few important things. 1. It seams Yimir was taken captive from another nation. So she is not an Original Eldian. 2. Her Titan looks bigger than the colossal Titan. 3. She could have healed from the spear but remember that Titan shifters only heal when they have a desire to live. For example, Reiner was not healing back in Marley because he wanted to die. He only recovered because Gaby and Falco gave him a reason to live. 4. When the 3 daughters ate her a tree with 3 branches was created. Yimir's power was spread into her 3 daughters. We don't know how many kids each of her daughter's had but the powers kept splitting until they couldn't be divided into smaller powers. 5. Given the historical fact that the first born child would inherit the throne it stands to reason that the older daughter inherited the founder Titan. 6. The number of branches in the coordinate kept growing as the Eldian population grew. 7. Yimir has a massive case of Stockholm syndrome with the king which explains why she only listens to people whom she perceives as royal. 8. The world was just as brutal if not more before the Titans even came into the picture. 9. Eren will use the power of the Titans to end the cruelty in the world. He doesn't want to destroy humanity, he just wants to end the oppressive cycle of history.
all the thing you said make sence but i have some questions, why Ymir didn't get her revenge from the people that slave them ? , so the powers of the titans will end the cruelty of the world that's mean the end of the Eldian as well because they are the source of the problem not Marley (the eldian slave Ymir people)?. I feel like they didn't explain well in this chapetrs.
@@ayoub112233 it's the mindset of ymir. The child who has been told since she born that she is just slave whose purpose is to obey. Even after gaining power she couldn't break the chains and finally someone said to her that she is free to choose, eren gave her choice which symbolises freedom
@@ayoub112233 this chapter simply implies that titan power isn't the cause of all this tragedy. It cycles of history and oppression. How Ymir gone straight crying after eren hugged her. I felt a lot between those panels. I hope the connection between Eren and Ymir doesn’t end so quickly after him leaving the path. I want to see Ymir speak, or perhaps her soul reborning into a new baby, to experience the happiness of freedom. Whoever the baby belongs to, I truly hope it’s eren holding Ymir in the last panel of the series
I was really worried about eren in terms of him being evil. Eren has ALWAYS had a heart for people and I think he can feel her pain and despair through their connection. It made me tear up and put my faith back in Eren. He is an AMAZING character.
Ymir just happened to stumble on the tree of life, it is very likely (at least so it seems to me) that King Fritz himself had the slightest clue of how she became THE ymir. And she agreed on being a slave to him because being acknowledged was the only thing she ever longed for. Remeber the panel with the wedding? When King Fritz accepted her back and gave her the "reward" she felt like she was being "loved" by somebody. Of course she wasn't, but let's not forget what kind of life she had. Hence the depiction of the contract with the devil. He may also have been pushing on that devil theory to scare the enemies and have them think "Yo we have the devil magic so fear us" (plus, let's take into account the fact that they were probably a tribe without the appropriate means to pass down real facts accurately, some things may have been changed over time just because there may have been no written proof of what actually happened) Funny how the Fritz's called the Marleyans "the accursed ones", while now it's the opposite, curious to know what was the curse the Marleyans were under - or how this whole never-ending war began Funny (#2) how Historia is like a present Ymir, but if she acknowledged her powers and killed King Fritz, like Historia did with her father when she realized he had been feeding her lies all along. Historia wanted to be loved, Ymir wanted to be loved; Historia looked up to her sister (the present King Fritz), Ymir looked up to past King Fritz; Historia decided to live her life as a free woman because soldier/titan shifter Ymir told her to do so, Ymir decided to do the same when Eren told her to. So many similarities, that's beyond amazing
There's also Freida and Eren parallel. Freida tried to make historia more docile, enslaved person like Ymir and Eren trying to pull Ymir out of her mindset into becoming free willed and bold like Historia now.
I thought that the idea of a lands devil came from the fact that she fell inside the deep roots of the tree and returned as a titán, anyone could look at it AND think that she Made some kind of deal there.
Everything Salty and love, acceptance and love. Little Ymir wanted friends, family, hearth, an eventual lover, Volk, claimed territory, etc.....unfortunately the corrosively manipulative Eldian tribal King Fritz was the only one to at first offer Ymir any semblance of the aforementioned, only to enslave and abuse her power soon after. Eren's hug and comfort on the other hand were earnest and he had no ulterior motives, which moved her enough to side with him over Zeke.
When you think about it Eren stopped what could’ve happened to historia that happened to Ymir. And whole thing with eating Ymir’s body is like how the giant Ymir body parts were used to creat the world in Norse mythology.
In the 1st chapter, when Eren was crying I think he saw Ymir's memories for a moment . In chapter 122 he said "that's y you were trying to reach me" or smtg like that. Ymir wanted Eren to save her....... This chapter truly overwhelmed me. And this video just put my thoughts into words. Thank you for this amazing video
I was feeling so revolted with Zeke trying to make her obey him and the contrast with Eren giving her the choice was amazing. When I finally see her eyes and there was so many emotions but, above all, there was light in them, there was a soul. It made me so emotional. This is already one of my favorite moments of this history
It brought truth and it also proved eren Kruger's words to grisha correct. Him saying that karl wasn't they're enemy makes sense because of what he say ymir go through. It doesn't mean he was right to make his vow but his position is more understandable. Also Kruger said that she had found the origin of all organic life. So there's that with the spinal creature. Finally kruger questioning Grisham's belief that ymir build those roads and bridges. It was true but it wasn't done out of kindness it was done because she was a broken girl not a god.
Eren wanted to free her, Zeke wanted to use her, King Fritz wanted to use her, Eldia wanted to use her. Eren freed her, he showed her that she's just a girl, and how she's now free.
I actually took Ymir throwing herself at the spear that was meant for the king as her killing herself to set herself free from him. The argument against this of course would be why hasn’t she tried a less contrived method of suicide and I’d have to assume it’s because she was under strict watch 24/7.
In a single chapter Isayama managed to establish a massively tragic character who has been in the shadows for the entire series, while also giving her an eruption of freedom and vindication and even a LITERAL EMBRACE that I was yearning for her to get as I witnessed her torment. I watched her give everything and receive nothing, and just a goddamn hug was a relief of that tension for me.
Now that the Rumbling has happened through Eren's will and Ymir's action, I'm thinking that the founding titan is now free to be used by Eren, with no requirement of royal blood.
Devil of the Earth= 1) the organic source of power that Ymir came into contact with 2)Her "husband" King FRITZ I (his descendants count to an extent) 3)Humanity past, present & future. I like to think that the Titan forms of each character also reflect some part of themselves & Ymir's first form reflected her mental state perfectly.
Tthemoney15 None of that, statistically speaking that has a very low chance of coming up as a fact. Because every time you guys make theories you get refuted by the author in the next chapters... so yeah, you’re wrong.
@@shopekuax2067 You're probably right. But I meant to think of the DoE as a parable left by Marleyans from that time. Linking the King of Eldia/his actions as a caution tale.

This chapter was phenomenal! It left me speechless after it ended. I'm glad that Eren understood that Ymir wanted to be free. That scene when she opened her eyes was really powerful to show that she wasn't in control but now she is. So is Eren confirmed to be alive? The rumbling was amazing!! I can't wait until the next chapter to see how everything plays out. I'm sorry for making this incredibly long but I had a lot to say.
I Have a theory Ymir not having a will of her own might somehow be connected to the ackerman clans inability to Act separately from the person theyre supposed to protect And i think the one who threw the spear might be the marleyan hero (i think his Name was helos) Which is now glorified by the marleyans
@@sagittariusstudios8614 Well it's simple. To justify the way Eren behaved with Mikasa, the "Ackerbond" must be real. If you look at Mikasa, she has been for Eren almost the same Ymir was for the first King. What obviously deeply disgusted Eren, because she cares for her. That is why he wanted to free her. She left the scarf, so it probably worked.
Igor Also, didn’t they say the hero was a fabrication ? He didn’t exist, they made him up for the people and to hide that the King of the walls left on his own accords
Great thumbnail Dresrosa, that panel is so beautifully done. The emotions shown in her face is unbelievably strong one. That panel really made me sad to the point of tearing up.

It's sad that even though she died as a adult, she was still just a kid crying for help. I love Eren for just being there for her. It's all she wanted.....
First chapter is “To you 2000 years from now”: this is Ymir trying to reach out to the future users of the Attack Titan. This is the reason those users have memories from the future and the reason Eren wakes up crying for no reason. Ymir is begging to be set free. This chapter is “To you 2000 years ago”: this is Eren responding to Ymir, and setting her free.
Theory: the perpetual eating of their deceased relatives is what the mindless titans are trying to do. Also 8th panel bottom left is the face Eren started the series with. That’s the memory he was dreaming and why he was crying.
I have a theory. 1. During the end credits of season 2, you notice that the “devil” had blonde hair. This is a metaphor for the king being the devil due to how nightmarish he was. Kids who are ruled in fear/slavery would see an adult this way. 2. The contract is most likely the “reward” which is bearing the Kings children thus creating the royal blood cycle. 3. If you notice, the kids: Maria, Rose, Shina all ate Ymir and supposedly obtained her powers to continue the royal blood cycle. Does this mean you do not have to become a mindless titan to obtain a power? So if Gabi were to eat Reiner who craves for death, would she be able to gain the armored titan she’s been longing for? 4. This king is not the one who created the vow, it had to of been the next one after realizing how terrible the Eldians were treating others and themselves. Thus moving to paradis, erasing their memories, and being eaten by their own people due to their sins etc. 5. The titan war started due to different shifters having different ideology’s. The reason why the marlys had some of the powers were probably because some of titans sided with them based on how terrible the eldians treated them. Then some other stayed with eldia for their own reasons. Warhammer titan stayed neutral but eventually sides with marly in the present. While the attack titan job is to prevent a king like the first to ever become like that again thus being the “free” titan. Grisha even states this in the previous chapter, “ to stop the Kings self-righteousness”. Just thoughts, thanks for reading !
"The marleyan government claims that she was the SERVANT of a demon. To the Eldian empire, she was a miracle worker sent from the God's.And some merely think of her as a young lady who made contact with the source of all organic life." - Eren Kruger
Aot means a lot to me I fell in love with this series since I watched episode 1 of the anime and every month I wait for a new chapter having this fear inside of me that isayama might disappoint me one day like I have been with every other series I fell in love with but it just keeps getting better and better every month and that we're at the endgame the fear that I have has started to fade I'm now no longer afraid of disappointment and I'm ready to except anything isayama got to offer cause at the end "it's the story that he started" and he should end it the way he wants.
Eren's form, with the power he seems to have borrowed from Ymir, with just the spinal cord and a skull head, with it's jaw completely open, kinda resembles Jörmungandr, the Gigantic Serpent that, on the day of the Ragnarok, will consume the world.
all the 8 of the 9 titans inherited mostly physical attributes of her (Ymir) titan but the attack titan just didn't inherit physical abilities, her philosophy lives in the attack titan, ever pushing forward, seeking out freedom because she herself can never do it unless ordered to
It is actually possible that Ymir's spine became one with Nidhogg, which is a long creature that lives underneath the world tree Yggdrasil in Norse mythology. It'd make sense with the coordinate looking like a tree and you mentioning Yggdrasil. :)
Do you any of you think that the baby Eren is holding in the final panel is Ymir reincarnated? As he cradles the baby in his arms he softly whispers, "You are free." Perhaps this means that Ymir has finally been granted the chance to live life the way she desires.
@@metalsadman The Marquesan term _puaa oa,_ literally "long pig," is a euphemism for human meat, because it tastes like pork. Cannibalism might be normal in ancient Eldian society. Perhaps the king wasn't such a bad parent after all. =S
Honestly I feel it's the best chapter of the entire manga The moment I read the title in english, I stared at a wall, mouth open, and realised how much this simple title meant in this incredible story
Nothing but sadness and depression in this chapter. Ymir was truly 1 of the most tragic characters in any form of literature I've read. She'd been an eternal slave, always bound to the orders of the Fritz bloodline, and had it not been for Eren she would still be trapped in the endless misery brought upon by her fate. The last panel was very epic, but instead of excitement I felt a warm sort of peacefulness, knowing that Eren had taken on Ymir's burden, liberating her and taking her place to do to the world what the world had did to her.
"It's just a fookin' pig ME LORD !!!!" "THEN WHO RELEASE IT ?" "ME, BUT EREN ORDERED OR WILL ORDER ME TO DO THAT !" "WHO THE FOOK IS EREN !??" "I DON'T KNOW ME LORD !!!" "Okay" *blame random girl
this chapter is simply insanity at its finest. Now that ymir is free (and we all now know that eren is NOT the cause of the rumbling, but it is ymir herself) ill ymir grant eren all the founding titan abilities? is the titan at the last page eren's or ymir's? ymir is just plain kawaii and best girl now LETS RUMBLE THE FUCK OUTTA THIS BOIS!
This chapter is my favorite I didn’t need to know the semantics about how she got the power of the Titans The emotion and heavy topic of abuse it Really hit me we finally get a backstory of Ymir and it was the most realistic story Like Erin’s quote “She’s not a god she’s not a slave She’s just Human” Also I wasn’t really liking Erin as a character recently but this character really puts into perspective some of his intentions and why he’s doing what he’s doing....and giving Ymir her first Choice in her life no matter what it is was so powerful
Kenny was right we are all slaves to something/someone. In this regard, even though Ymir gained such an incredible power, she never took revenge on her lets say master. She even gave birth to three daughters, which would eventually witness the death of their mother, plus in the end eat her, due to the father being their only safe heaven, no matter how twisted his mind is. Slavery mentality was the downfall of Ymir, she was chosen to be slave and to serve. Now, we are coming to the Eren and his will to free the Ymir, which he eventually did; and for the first time Ymir had a chance to choose, not to listen ( in this case Zeke). It will be interesting how is the destruction of the world portrayed in his mind; Does it mean the destruction of paths and existence of titan, Marleyans or ultimately world. We are in for the party.
Hey dude, just wanted to say thanks for the effort you put into this. You got it out to us in such a short amount of time and managed to make it a super high quality and effective video. I really enjoyed this. Thanks man :)
Why would he want to free eldians now that he knows they are just the same scums who enslaved titans. Ymir herself is most probably not eldian but from an enemy tribe village who got annexed
@@TonyOneBlairoby Eren doesn't blame the eldians in present for their ancestors doing like the rest of the world does. He's upset that this historical titan mess started with someone who wasn't free in the first place. And we don't even know from here on out that he'll use the titans in the walls right away.
I read this chapter last night at 3am in the morning & I had to call my friend and we literally spent till 6am discussing this chapter and AOT overall. This story is truly beautifully written
Chapter 120: wow, this is amazing, don't think he can make anything better now Chapter 121: wow, this is amazing, really surprised me, but this is peak aot, nothing better can come out Chapter 122: ok isayama, are you picking a fight with me now? I ain't complaining tho.
The "weird centipede thing" is actually, in my opinion, the "organic matter" that Ymir came in contact with. That spine represents the actual "matter" of the tree she fell into. She effectively BECAME the tree. It would explain why the Titans are very plant like in nature. They're effectively Ymir's sproutlings, if you will. She was the original tree after coming in contact with the "organic matter" (spine) and everything after her are even more trees. So no, not aliens like some are saying. But actual creatures of the Earth. It connects with well with this tree being Isayama's version of the World Tree from Norse mythology being the "spine" of the world.
I really and freaking love Attack on Titan storylines so much. I feel like in my whole life I have never read such a kind of extremely unique story like this before. Everything that Isayama creates is just so well organized and well planned in a brilliant way. Hollywood stories are good, but, to me, Attack on Titan has a much better story. After reading chapter 122, I feel something special in my mixed emotions deeply.....I had grown to love the Eldians since the beginning, but their ancestors were poured evil. I love how Isayama tries to show us that there are good such races that are perfect. That does not mean that Eldians have no right to live 2000 years later. Moreover, Isayama tries to tell us that to make something true, all people have to do is to believe. I can't wait for the anime. Isayama will make the end of Attack on Titan for us to remember for the rest of our lives.
7:12 I don't know if NOBODY cared about Ymir; her daughters did, from my understanding of the chapter. *Pardon me if the page numbers are off* Page 23, right after her body drops from the spear attack and you see the king + 3 daughters hovering over her, you see tears in (at least 2 of) her daughters' eyes. The next page, you see their mouths hanging open, as if they were in anguish. The king may be talking, but what's to say MRS aren't crying out for their mother to come back? What's to say she didn't show them motherly love, and they loved her back for it? Page 27, they indeed ate her body. But that was very likely under the king's orders, considering you literally saw("heard") him order them to eat Ymir whole (pp. 26-27), as he was towering over them. In the anime Season 2 ending (link below), you see (at least 2 of) them crying, as they're engulfing her. What's to say that they didn't oppose it, yet had no choice in the matter? They were children, obeying their father. At the same time, they were obeying an order from the king. Despite the fact that they obeyed, their mother was gone, and there was nothing that they could do to bring her back, whether or not they refused to eat her. My 2 cents. AOT ending 2: ruclips.net/video/rbfHY8mkhT8/видео.html
I also thought at first that the spinal cord grew out of his head. But on closer inspection, it seems Eren's own spine jumped from his body and attached it to the head.
When I first saw s2’s ending, I was an anime only who didn’t knew anything. I was so confused, but I knew it a lot of significance. I started reading the manga after season 2 and I was in awe of the basement twist. I just assumed it was just Marley propaganda, because how gruesome it really was on paper. I remember watching a video ( I don’t remember who tho) who said there is 3 views. Marley’ side, eldia’s side, and the truth. It can be applied to many parts of the story, but for this chapter alone, combines parts of both views and ymir’s side. The king is the devil of all earth for marley. and ymir is a god who created many thing like bridges for eldia. Honestly this show is amazing. No words to describe it.

Hannes Is reacting to his livestock argument like he heard It for the first time
@@mrDumbum the flashback when Eren killed the kindappers. That's pretty obvious. In the manga he even said at that scene"he was born that way"
@@user-uc7zf1xd8p I thought that was more like a "fight for your survival" kind of thinking, less focused on actual freedom from boundaries and more on wanting to survive.
So the first title, was Ymir sending a message to eren, and this chapter is eren receiving that message

AK 187 after all, this is a show about freedom
@Bagus also slavery
@Neverlandia 😂😂 i hope this gets explained otherwise ive come to the same conclusion as you
Neverlandia sir you do know that she was probably born into slavery.
I just thought about something:
Colossal Titan - Ymir's physical size and strength being a titan.
DUDE YOUR THEORY IS SO GOOD. IT TRULY DESERVES MORE RECOGNITION. It makes so much more sense, all of the pure titans are her personas.

Which in this case eren the attack titan is a resemblance of her heart
@@Surfacekilla1 What chapter mentioned that??
Eren is a good character but not a good person. He will literally destroy the world with collosals
@@jeremydelare6088 nope he won't destroy the world literally. It goes against his ideals. He meant the paths world and his enemies.
After seeing this chapter I truly believe without a doubt in my mind that the attack Titan is the living incarnation of ymir's will to be free to fight for anyone who's had their freedom taken from them and that the founding Titan is the living incarnation of King Fritz well to subjugate ymir's descendants and the rest of the world shackling them into slavery
And now it makes a whole lot of sense from the first chapters name
To you 2000 years from now
From you 2000 years ago
Because she's been waiting this whole time, since 2000 years ago for someone
To break the cycle
So to boil it down to the simplest form of understanding, Attack on Titan is about one slave opposing an oppressive king to gain freedom.
Perfect dude you just sumed up the entire point of those titans
The part where king fritz made those girls eat ymirs body was dark as hell. Real disturbing stuff there but damn!!! This manga is unbelievable, it gets better and better and worth the wait!!
Wait so if 3 people cannibalized 1 Titan shifter to inherent their power, does that mean theoretically there could be more than 9 Titan shifters?
@@cossaizy6309 nop, looking at norse mythology which aot is based on. the 9 titans (connected by the Paths & Coordinate) parallels with the 9 realms connected by the Yggdrasil tree. So it makes sense for there to only be 9 shifters
Now after freeing The founder Ymir, Eren sees himself as truly free

He may also have been pushing on that devil theory to scare the enemies and have them think "Yo we have the devil magic so fear us"
(plus, let's take into account the fact that they were probably a tribe without the appropriate means to pass down real facts accurately, some things may have been changed over time just because there may have been no written proof of what actually happened)
Funny how the Fritz's called the Marleyans "the accursed ones", while now it's the opposite, curious to know what was the curse the Marleyans were under - or how this whole never-ending war began
Funny (#2) how Historia is like a present Ymir, but if she acknowledged her powers and killed King Fritz, like Historia did with her father when she realized he had been feeding her lies all along.
You copied that very well from the leak discussion
Prince Kumar interesting interpretation
There's also Freida and Eren parallel. Freida tried to make historia more docile, enslaved person like Ymir and Eren trying to pull Ymir out of her mindset into becoming free willed and bold like Historia now.
Agostino Annone yep.
I thought that the idea of a lands devil came from the fact that she fell inside the deep roots of the tree and returned as a titán, anyone could look at it AND think that she Made some kind of deal there.

and love, acceptance and love.
Zeke: I will take away people freedom.
Eren: I will give them Freedom.
Zeke: NANI?
read that in DIO’s “nani”, especially when you know Zeke is voiced by the same seiyuu
Eren: *Turns into a titan after Gabi shot him*
Gabi: Say sike right now.
Lmao she must've thought she fucked up
I was feeling so revolted with Zeke trying to make her obey him and the contrast with Eren giving her the choice was amazing. When I finally see her eyes and there was so many emotions but, above all, there was light in them, there was a soul. It made me so emotional. This is already one of my favorite moments of this history
I especially think that zeke saw that eren would succeed in persuading ymir. And he panicked trying to give him an order because he is of royal blood.
🐐🐐 , Eren has finally freed her after 2000 years , speechless
Zeke truly was evil, he ordered Ymir while Eren just hugged her.
he even started to look like King Fritz
True but she completely ignored and flipped off zeke
@@AJ-kt5zo Exactly, I'm saying I doubt the founding titan needs royal blood anymore to command...

I Have a theory
Ymir not having a will of her own might somehow be connected to the ackerman clans inability to Act separately from the person theyre supposed to protect
And i think the one who threw the spear might be the marleyan hero (i think his Name was helos)
Which is now glorified by the marleyans
Sagittarius Studios the hero was around the great titan war and not during Ymir’s life
The ackermans have a will on their own , people really still believe what Eren said in ch 112? 😂😂
@@claudiu6387
Well i dont know what to Believe anymore 😂
@@sagittariusstudios8614 Well it's simple. To justify the way Eren behaved with Mikasa, the "Ackerbond" must be real. If you look at Mikasa, she has been for Eren almost the same Ymir was for the first King. What obviously deeply disgusted Eren, because she cares for her. That is why he wanted to free her. She left the scarf, so it probably worked.
Igor Also, didn’t they say the hero was a fabrication ? He didn’t exist, they made him up for the people and to hide that the King of the walls left on his own accords
For me
Eren's decision looks like the Ragnarok.

Never have I been so engaged with a chapter of attack on titan. Thank you Isayama for creating this masterpiece
And he responded 10 years and a month later, woah how long have we come.
To the Eldian empire, she was a miracle worker sent from the God's.And some merely think of her as a young lady who made contact with the source of all organic life."
- Eren Kruger
Aot means a lot to me I fell in love with this series since I watched episode 1 of the anime and every month I wait for a new chapter having this fear inside of me that isayama might disappoint me one day like I have been with every other series I fell in love with but it just keeps getting better and better every month and that we're at the endgame the fear that I have has started to fade I'm now no longer afraid of disappointment and I'm ready to except anything isayama got to offer cause at the end "it's the story that he started" and he should end it the way he wants.
She's not a slave nor a god.
She just keeps moving forward, until her humanity can finally be free.
One of the cool things about the tree is that I'm pretty sure that it's supposed Yggdrasil.
Only two people understood the pain and suffering of Ymir:
Eren and The King with the Pacifist Ideology
Eren's form, with the power he seems to have borrowed from Ymir, with just the spinal cord and a skull head, with it's jaw completely open, kinda resembles Jörmungandr, the Gigantic Serpent that, on the day of the Ragnarok, will consume the world.
Dresora i love your channel in every way you deserve more subs and I hate to only see 2 comments you are an amazing narrator

all the 8 of the 9 titans inherited mostly physical attributes of her (Ymir) titan but the attack titan just didn't inherit physical abilities, her philosophy lives in the attack titan, ever pushing forward, seeking out freedom because she herself can never do it unless ordered to
It is actually possible that Ymir's spine became one with Nidhogg, which is a long creature that lives underneath the world tree Yggdrasil in Norse mythology.
Jung-Ah Choi do you think eren is the father of historia child since historia is the only one pregnant with a kid right now?

Grisha Yaegar : I am the most tragic character in the entire franchise
Ymir : Hold my beer
Honestly I feel it's the best chapter of the entire manga
The moment I read the title in english, I stared at a wall, mouth open, and realised how much this simple title meant in this incredible story
The last panel was very epic, but instead of excitement I felt a warm sort of peacefulness, knowing that Eren had taken on Ymir's burden, liberating her and taking her place to do to the world what the world had did to her.

all chapters have been sad and depressing LOL
just kidding, most of them :P

this chapter is simply insanity at its finest. Now that ymir is free (and we all now know that eren is NOT the cause of the rumbling, but it is ymir herself)
ill ymir grant eren all the founding titan abilities? is the titan at the last page eren's or ymir's?
ymir is just plain kawaii and best girl now
LETS RUMBLE THE FUCK OUTTA THIS BOIS!
This chapter is my favorite I didn’t need to know the semantics about how she got the power of the Titans
The emotion and heavy topic of abuse it Really hit me we finally get a backstory of Ymir and it was the most realistic story Like Erin’s quote
“She’s not a god
she’s not a slave
She’s just Human”
Also I wasn’t really liking Erin as a character recently but this character really puts into perspective some of his intentions and why he’s doing what he’s doing....and giving Ymir her first Choice in her life no matter what it is was so powerful
Dogs: We started Jojo, that's the most random origin story aroun-
Pigs: *H M M*
America: FREEDOM!
Eren: weakness disgusts me
Marleians: we are the biggest A holes in this story.
Eldian king: Hold my pigs

Linkin Park's In the End pictures Ymir perfectly. "I tried so hard, and got so far, but in the end, it doesnt even matter. "
Eren still has a good heart he felt with ymir and spoke her free what she always wanted and in return lend Eren the power to free the eldians.
Chapter 123: readers are in coma
Chapter 124: readers recover from the coma just to read the chapter and then die...
Eren started all this by telling Ymir that it was okay to set the pigs free.
So I guess this is why the Royal Family inside the walls felt guilty and didn't use the power. They hid and left the world around them.
Attack on Titan is quickly becoming one of the greatest manga and greatest stories ever written. I feel honored to have been reading this since 2009.

I don't know if NOBODY cared about Ymir; her daughters did, from my understanding of the chapter.
*Pardon me if the page numbers are off*
Page 23, right after her body drops from the spear attack and you see the king + 3 daughters hovering over her, you see tears in (at least 2 of) her daughters' eyes.
My 2 cents.

I also thought at first that the spinal cord grew out of his head. But on closer inspection, it seems Eren's own spine jumped from his body and attached it to the head.
Poor Ymir, i could feel all sorts of emotions in her eyes :( all she wanted was someone to comfort her...
gr8 video dude
