Once again, I really like these travel episodes, when life doesn't give you what you expect. No matter how much you take, no matter how long your day is, you make the best of it and always have a smile at the end. Thank-you! I would rather watch your vlog than a professional travel program because it feels like I actually get to visit these places with you guys!! Y'all are awesome!! God bless you!!
True. Natural beauty and everything so natural - this is why it is so much better than “TV - even reality shows are terrible”. This is what we need to relax. Thanks Kara and Nate.
I loved watching this. I live in Thailand now, in Chiang Mai. Everytime I have gone to Bangkok it is an experience. Some friends and I want to Bangkok a few years ago and we were going to take the sleeper train back but we missed it. We hopped on motorcycle taxis and chanced down our train. I think that was the scariest experience of my life. They went even faster and crazier than the tuk tuks. Sitting on one of those carrying our food container, holding a Thai Ice tea and with my backpack on. I am so surprised I did not die.
After watching this video, I braved myself to do Siem Reap - Bangkok on bus+van just like what you did, instead of taking a plane. And I ended up having a blast! Thank you so much!
I decided during quarantine I’m going to watch all of your vlogs. I came across you two a few months ago and I’m so glad that I did! You show the reality of travelling, the goof and bad and I really appreciate that! You both always seem super grateful for everything that your doing! Love you two and stay safe💗
Been watching your travel vlogs in order and weirdly enough, this has been one of my favorites so far! I don't think I would have been bold enough to plan on walking across the border and hoping to find those casino busses haha!
Literally started watch your channel out of order (first I watched was the bike video of Colorado Trail)! You guys were so awesome that I subscribed to the channel and I finally started it from the beginning....Love your guys journey around the world...Can’t wait time get to that 100th Country episode
you should write a book, kara and nate. i tremendously like your adventure in siem reap, especially that sunrise stuff. i thought you'll spent your sunset at phnom bakheng, more and lots more of tourist there at sunset. we've been there 3x and i simply can't get enough of those beautiful and awesome temples. thanks for sharing your adventures. be safe. have fun. and thanks very much.
Fuck a book... were in the 21st centry now... Videos is much more informative and a visual experience... damn i hate your old generation... want everything on paper...
12 hours on a bus ... that's what I'm gonna do tomorrow. Going from Chiang Mai to Vientiane on a night bus, so I'm watching all the bus-related videos, haha. I'm definitely going to make a note of the Casino bus trick for when we go to Cambodia :)
i plan on going to BangKok from Vietnam by bus like this , but after watching your vlog , maybe traveling by plane is much better , this way is such a long trip and hard
great video.. on a video binge fest on all your videos in span of 36 hours! best thing, im not tired of your videos.. you bring so much energy and positive attitude, essential in traveling im more of Nate in frugal spendingbut more of Kara in a foodie binge eating what hotel did you stay in bangkok? how did you get from bangkok to chiang mai... not sure if you covered this route.. i plan to use the casino bus-bus to siem reap and back... with your help.. it should be easier.... thanks
1:08 Awesome then was inexperience. Awesome now( in 2021) is the Flawless editing of the Video's I Love by Kara. No more Painfull and Quirky music. The music used is now Professional. (made possible by Epidemic Sound) Keep the good Work up!
Giant Ibis now runs a VIP bus service between siem reap & bangkok. Costs about $30usd, with drinking water & lunch included. Takes about 6 hrs. I've taken this route maybe 20 times over the years~
lol those are the buses we took too, sooooo much cheaper. Also the train from Siem Reap to Bangkok was under $4 per person, no a/c but the windows open so plenty of breeze.
I've done this as well, once from Nairobi to Arusha, which is across the border in Tanzania near Mt. Kilimanjaro. The other was by rental car (5 days) from Johannesburg, S. Africa, up to Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe, then to Chobe N.P. in Botswana, and back to Johannesburg through Botswana. Both were interesting experiences, to say the least, and both were solo.
I Did similartvan / Bus trip last year within morocco last year, love the journey & the people I met. I also Just return from Angkor wat 3 weeks ago & a Side trip to Langkawi islands in Malaysia to unwind
Love the Random Thai girl giving camera bomb with the victory sign at the end, cute touch to leave it in Kara. Not in Adelaide. Though we still have convenience stores.
Omg this string of 3-4 videos has made me laugh so hard! "Speaking of shady bags, lets add another"... Man starts writing on one... Nate: "Cooo-Cain". Thanks Nate. Again. You made me wake my baby laughing!
The guy was speaking Thai and it was a phone number that he told the other guy to write on the bag. When you don’t know the language, your imagination can run wild.
“Seems every time I’m about to despair, there’s a 7/11 right there. Each store is the same from Las Vegas to Boston. LINOLEUM ISLES THAT I LOVE TO GET LOST IN!!!” anyone? Anyone? No. Ok.
kowsan road is where you were.. its the party place for most young travelers...great food around there too... even a burger king on the far end....walking distance to the royal palace too...
+ndspeedster Hey there, where I live in Toronto, there is a Thai restaurant called Khao San Road. It's always packed and it's ppl from Bangkok who run it. So thankful as it brings a lil back from Thailand!JJ30
The first snickers. :D No way I would have left mye bags. Yikes! Nate: Are you ok? Kara. I'm alright .... Wellll... :D Pad thai is yummy. Nom nom. This was a long journey. Phew.
That crossing is a lot less scary than Malaysia to Thailand.. They take your passport and then you have to drive half an hour before you get it back and we were warned by our guide that people go missing between the 2 points.
Seems you had fun though it was a very long land travel! Thinking of doing the same for our Siem Reap to Bangkok transport this October! Always take care guys!
Sorry mate, but 13:49 is not exactly Pad Thai. Thai people would called that Pad Mee but it couldn't help as those Pad Mee carts are all over the Khao San Rd.
What do you guys do to secure your valuables when you leave your hotel room?....I've heard many horror stories of the room 'safe' not being at all safe in many SE Asian countries...can't imagine you carry everything with you every time you go out - so what do you do ? what's your experience/advice ?
Kara keep your mouth close before the fry get in it happen very good. holiday. You both enjoy your day thank you for sharing your beautiful video. Bless you both .

how did you do it? which bus did you take? i'm planning of doing this but it seems rather tiring, 5 hours sounds doable though. would appreciate a reply.
I have questions. I'm really wanting to go to cambodia and bangkok in a couple months and I like how yall travel. I'm worried about how much to take and bags to carry. what do each of you take/have?
Will you guys ever choose to live anywhere that you have traveled at? And if you would get jobs and work for a living besides doing youtube? Just wondering if that ever crossed your minds. I don't think you look at these comments anymore but if so thanks for reading this comment. Nate when you said cocaine I had to laugh about that one.

+Maiyo Herero The road between Poipet (just on the Cambodian side of the Thailand/Cambodia border) to Siem Reap took me 7 hours when I went, back in 1998. Now I hear it can be done in 2 1/2 to 3 hours, in theory (only counting when the vehicle is moving though; Kara and Nate had to wait for a lot of delays and transfers). Keep in mind that's not Bangkok to Siem Reap, that's just from the border to there. Bangkok to the Cambodian border probably takes about 3 to 4 hours by bus. In theory Bangkok to Siem Reap would take about 7 hours, not counting transfers, stops, and the time it takes to cross the border each way. 9 to 10 hours is probably more realistic, and as seen in this video, could possibly take as long as 12. But hey, it will only cost you $7 to $15 (depending what buses you take) so if you're on a tight budget and not in a hurry, go for it. I took this bus route 17 years ago and the Cambodian side wasn’t paved yet, so consider yourselves lucky! It has improved greatly.

Nate, we need a “This is not looking too promising” or “This is looking promising” counter lol love watching yalls old videos
Or I guess I should say, Kara we need a counter. Lol
After watching this video, I braved myself to do Siem Reap - Bangkok on bus+van just like what you did, instead of taking a plane. And I ended up having a blast! Thank you so much!

I love how Nate always tries to look serious, but then 5 seconds later he's smiling and trying not to laugh
Hi Nate I am a new subscriber and I just have to tell you so far your funniest line yet is with the man writing on the bag COCAINE.
Been watching your travel vlogs in order and weirdly enough, this has been one of my favorites so far! I don't think I would have been bold enough to plan on walking across the border and hoping to find those casino busses haha!
Well done Clark and Ellen.
You Griswolds rule vacations ! ! !
Seriously , your travel vid's are a true joy to watch.

@@GotDaPatience And your generation is so hateful and disrespectful. It's disgusting. Grow up.
THIS BORDER WAS CHAOS! Definitely a trip to remember.
Roll forward 7 years later, we got on a similar tricked out Bangkok tuk tuk that went really fast and was blasting with Thai dance music. Super fun!
12 hours on a bus ... that's what I'm gonna do tomorrow. Going from Chiang Mai to Vientiane on a night bus, so I'm watching all the bus-related videos, haha. I'm definitely going to make a note of the Casino bus trick for when we go to Cambodia :)

Man I wish I can travel like y’all do. I love it!
Cooooccccaaaiiinnneee! LMAO!!
Amanda Miller Bahahahaaa,!!!!
I'm always amazed at how cheap stuff is in Thailand. That pad thai looked awesome.
+Perdomot I know me too! It tasted even better :)
Made the same journey the other direction from you guys a few years back. Crossing land borders definitely way way more interesting than flying hahaha
omg 12+ hours traveling! you deserve to be in a hall of fame of some sort! :)
I traveled 3 days by bus from Albania to Germany. In Serbian Hungarian border we stayed 6 hours, the longest 6 hours of my life.
i plan on going to BangKok from Vietnam by bus like this , but after watching your vlog , maybe traveling by plane is much better , this way is such a long trip and hard

those spring rolls and pad thai just looked sooo yummy.
Love these older videos from you guys, so much more real and less staged
I was thinking about this vlog (and how I enjoyed it so much back in the day)... and had to search through your videos to find it! Glad I did! 👍
Omg! We were just talking about this day! We walked by a casino bus with hello kitties all over it yesterday 😂😂😂
I love land borders because of the chaos and uncertainty.
It's like watching the love child of Matthew Matthew Mcconaughey and Ronaldo :)
Always smiling. Always positive.
The lady at 13:58😂❤️
So sorry Kara I couldn’t finish watching the previous one the one with eating the bugs my stomach is too weak for that.
Thank you for bringing the coffee!
Tara sleeps like my husband when we travel and I'm like Nate. It's very annoying when they can fall asleep anywhere.

There’s a 7/11 on every (literally every) corner of each block in Bangkok.

Oh god, we did the bus from Sihanoukville to Phnom Penh and it was double the estimated time. We thought we were going to miss our flight!
You could have taken the train.
The first snickers. :D No way I would have left mye bags. Yikes!
Nate: Are you ok?
Kara. I'm alright ....
Wellll... :D
Pad thai is yummy. Nom nom.
This was a long journey. Phew.
That place was playing AVICCI!!! 😢
Way way faster now. Now its direct from Siem Reap to Bangkok, no need to change buses anymore.
On the bucket list since I just retired
That crossing is a lot less scary than Malaysia to Thailand.. They take your passport and then you have to drive half an hour before you get it back and we were warned by our guide that people go missing between the 2 points.
“25 minutes or so for checking your bus ticket and for toilet” getting right to the point 😜
Seems you had fun though it was a very long land travel! Thinking of doing the same for our Siem Reap to Bangkok transport this October! Always take care guys!
Goodness me! You guys are braver than I am, I'd never spend that long on a bus... I need my bathroom and snack breaks :L
Sorry mate, but 13:49 is not exactly Pad Thai. Thai people would called that Pad Mee but it couldn't help as those Pad Mee carts are all over the Khao San Rd.

a long long day...But the street food in Bangkok seems to be a good reward.

I would go to Koh Rong Sanloem, an island off of Sihanoukville. You take Buva Sea Speed boat there , which cost $25 round trip.
Loved the blue bags! LOL!
I am planning to take on this journey (Siem Reap-Bangkok bus) by myself. Hopefully I wont get lost
"Cooooo*aiaaann expiration mark" 🤣😂
Nice vlog!!
This might be a stupid question but are there toilets on those busses? And if not, do they stop regularly for toilet breaks?
Yes there are thankfully!
nice video, love it
Nate, you remind me much of myself with your overcharge conspiracies. hahahaha
@karaandnate I just died laughing when Nate said cocaine at the perfect time
nate.. you must come to Indonesia.. there's many wonderful place for your advanture..
+yonathan leonard We'd love to sometime!
That looks so yummy.
Kara said a couple of times something like "great to be back", have you or her been there before?
My bus trip from Siemreap to Bangkok only took like 5 hours.
how did you do it? which bus did you take? i'm planning of doing this but it seems rather tiring, 5 hours sounds doable though. would appreciate a reply.
I have questions. I'm really wanting to go to cambodia and bangkok in a couple months and I like how yall travel. I'm worried about how much to take and bags to carry. what do each of you take/have?

+Kara and Nate Haha thank you for your reply, please check out some of my flight reports too :)
Jeez I miss travel.
Guys I love your Vids, keep it up. Am just wondering guys when you go back home and start again normal life I think you will find it very boring because of the routine. Now everyday there is new places and new things and adventures but later on when you go back home I do not know how you will adapt to routine life.
+420yers Club The current plan is to return home in early December. That's a great question! As of now the answer is... we have NO clue! However, I'm a believer that life is made up of chapters. Nate said ..... Cocaine... But then the guy was writing he got excited lol.... Maybe it was a good cocaine deal lol.....
What kind of camera do you guys use?
hello Kara & Nate:
I'd like to inform you that -- from now on there is a Giant Ibis Transport bus direct from Siem Reap (Cambodia) - Bangkok (Thailand).
The bus station is located in Khao San road like in the clip. For more information! Pls visit giantibis.com
Thanks.
Like how many hours will it take you to thailand from siem reap?
+Maiyo Herero The road between Poipet (just on the Cambodian side of the Thailand/Cambodia border) to Siem Reap took me 7 hours when I went, back in 1998. Now I hear it can be done in 2 1/2 to 3 hours, in theory (only counting when the vehicle is moving though; Kara and Nate had to wait for a lot of delays and transfers). Keep in mind that's not Bangkok to Siem Reap, that's just from the border to there. Bangkok to the Cambodian border probably takes about 3 to 4 hours by bus. If you can afford a plane ticket, Bangkok to Siem Reap costs between about $89 to $150 each way and takes about an hour (from take off until landing, not door to door, but still that's a lot faster than overland transportation). AirAsia is the cheapest airline that flies this route (keep in mind they fly out of Don Mueang, not Suvarnabhumi, the latter being Bangkok's main airport). As is always the case with travel you have to decide whether you want to spend money to save time, or spend time to save money.
Is it free? riding casino bus? I thought there are no casinos in Thailand?
12 hours on a bus, not likely. If I was staying in Cambodia for 3 days, maybe? Nah, I just can't see myself stuck on a bus for 12 hours.
Out of curiosity, did the two of you try the Fish Massage while in Cambodia? I found them all over Siem Reap, and a lot less than Bangkok.JJ30
+Jazzyjon30 we didn't try it in Cambodia, but we did get a natural Fish Massage while swimming in a cenote in Mexico! They TICKLE!
Hi, Kara and Nate :) I just want to check if the Casino bus has an on-board toilet? Thanks
Cooo caine 😂🤣😂🤣
From Siem Reap to Thailand border takes 2 hours by motorcycle!!
Really?
Those bus drivers make deals with the shop owners. They get money to stop at certain stops.
they use car engine for tuktuk's in thailand that's why it is fast.
Ilove chicken pad Thai!!
how do i get a visa from bnk to cambodia? cant i get it directly at immigration?
how do you avoid things like lice on buses? im always scared about those
Live, cockroaches…you should not be traveling on these buses. Save money and wait until you have enough to fly or take a private car.
This isnt the direct bus?
อยากกินเค้กอยากไปอยู่
Considering how cheap it is out there they could of upgraded things a bit..
