I made the bus journey on the basis of your review, and Giant Ibis on this route was excellent: punctual, efficient (especially at the border,) spacious and comfortable. The 3-seat across layout makes all the difference.
After first using Giant Ibis in 2019 it has become my go-to company for getting from Bangkok to Siem Reap. Over the years I've use them many times and have never been let down. Super easy to work with and the buses are really comfortable with plenty of leg room for a tall westerner.
We have visited Cambodia a couple of times and stayed at Jaya House back in 2017 when it had just opened. I wonder if Christian is still GM, he is an inspirational leader and they were very focused on the sustainability issues then. It’s so good to hear they are maintaining their standards. Enjoy the land of smiles and the amazing Cambodian people!
Heading to Siem Reap on Giant Ibus at the end of December after spending two months in Bangkok, so this video comes at a perfect time. Super nervous as a first-timer crossing the border and using your video to calm my nerves! 😂 THANK YOU for sharing this experience!!!
Welcome to Cambodia Kingdom of wonder, Siem Reap province have a lot of place to visit such as amazing temple especially Angkor wat temple the national symbol of Cambodia. Enjoy your trip in Cambodia!
Thank you so much for this Beautiful Video of Khmer people, Srok Khmer, Khmer cultures and civilizations of The Land of smiling 😁😁😁😁🤩🤩🤩🥰🥰🥰🥰🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽💐💐💐💐💐🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Thanks for this. Very informative. I have been living in Thailand for the last dozen years and was always told it is difficult to travel to Cambodia and you show me that isn't right. By the way, the purple bank is Siam Commercial Bank, SCB. A great bank.
Giant Ibis is, by far, the best bus service to take to, from (and within !) Cambodia. They go from Phnom Penh to Kampot and Kep, which are both well worth visiting. Enjoy Cambodia ! 🇰🇭 🇰🇭
We travel with tiny Sawyer Mini-filters and use local tap water to fill our own water bottles. This has DRASTICALLY reduced our plastic consumption in SE Asia. We also take lightweight bowls and spoons and often ask street food vendors to fill them directly instead of using the styrofoam clamshells, plastic bags, and plastic utensils. Nice bus! My first visit through that crossing in 2008 involved sitting in the backseat of a decrepit sedan and since the (very dusty) road wasn't finished yet, going off-road and fording most of the streams at breakneck speed. Things change very fast in those parts.
This is amazing, I've screenshotted this comme t and will be looking into the mini-filters! Do you ever feel sick from the tap water or the filter works super well? Thank you so much!!
Not sure! Might need to stop at phnom penh or siem reap! We took a video from bkk to siem reap and made a video about it if you want to see what that's like!
Hi sir hopefully you are doing great, im planning to to Thailand in couple of days i have question. Do they ask for show money at Thailand Airport, also what if i don't have return ticket and instead i show my travel plan along with bus tickets from bangkok to Phnom. Or a return ticket is a must?
Hi there! Thank you, I highly suggest you watch our Thailand travel guide video, it answer lots of questions about Thailand travel! Having a bus ticket to Phnom Penh will work fine, if they ask they just need onward travel! It might be different depending on country of origin but we go through a way to check the rules on that travel guide video! Check it out!
what were your total expenses? been planning to go to thailand-cambodia-vietnam for next year! i wonder if the bus company also has a route for cambodia to vietnam
We travel on an average of $100 aud, in Cambodia we were below that and in Vietnam we were well below! Yes they do, we caught that bus accross the border also 😀 and we made a big Vietnam travel guide video you might find helpful too!
I'm going to be crossing into Siam Reap within the same route in a month and a half and after doing some research do you guys know if I need to register with the Foreigners Present in Cambodia System? or is that just if I'm wanting to extend my time in Cambodia? I'm planning on getting an E-Visa before hand and then what else will I be required to show at the border?
As Australians we didn't need to do anything except shown up! Ibis bus handled the rest but it depends on your passport. We always check with Sherpa travel to make sure, it's a website thay tells you what's required to cross a border!
If you're in Phnom Penh in the next week and fancy a good night out, Oscar's On The Corner has live music every night. Great place :-) Also, 'My Way' bar near Wat Langka is worth dropping into, and for great food at great prices, the Family Pub on Street 174 is run by a fabulous Khmer family who offer a warm welcome to all foreigners (and locals!) coming through town. Also, Giant Ibis - yep, absolute legends on the transport front, from Thailand, through Cambodia and into Vietnam, they're far and away the best company out there. I'm working with them right now on a project and they're just exceptional. Really glad you found them! Have a great time on your travels! Best wishes from ever-sunny Phnom Penh x
When I visited Cambodia in 2018 and my favorite place I visited was Kratie. Seeing the Mekong Dolphins was amazing and I remember renting bicycles and biking around a river Island and having the best day ever.
Wait… What? You got back on the SAME Ibis bus in Cambodia as the one that brought you there from Thailand? I heard that they are not allowed to cross the border into another country. What am I missing?
You can buy much cheaper plane ticket from bangkok even in high season (of course if you are not mentally disabled and can do a proper search). By plane you will be also in 1h and fresh not exhauseted, saving a lot of time and not dealing with that funny people at land boarder who try to cheat you in every way.
The best part about going point to point on Giant Ibis is that you don't have to worry about the expense and distance of getting to the airport, the new one in Siem Reap is an hour east outside of town. I also checked airfares for the day after Christmas plus adding at least another $35-50 for transport to BKK and from SAI into town.
A bus for TOURIST, who have NO IDEA !!! BKK to SR for 11,50 US Dollar including private Car transportation behind Cambodia border. Whith toilet access when ever you want !
I spent two weeks in Phnom Penh there by cracky!! 😨 It is NOT worth it, so I would say AVOID it the choices, I was scammed by a couple of people locals, not only that the Americans wanted me out at the end anyway!! 😫😫
@@JordanandEmily You Khmer would easily steal people’s things off the streets all over Cambodia for all wherever I could see. It’s just all I saw, but I was there for weeks, so yeah!! 😁😁
Visit Phnom Penh before it changes forever. I have spent a few days there each year since 2004. Plenty to see and do for a few days s21 and killing fields etc.
I book giant ibis bus straight on they telegram channel , for Cambodia the website doesn’t offer a QR code payment possibility which they have on telegram. No extra charge and straight to the company
Watch our next vlog in Siem Reap! (Angkor Wat Sunrise!!! 😱) 👉 ruclips.net/video/ZNg_tFcz2vY/видео.html
Great video, was just looking at alternatives to flying. Thanks for the info!

100% agree! They were great in everyday for us too!

He certainly is still the GM and one of the most passionate people we've ever met!!
Travelling overland as much as possible is another way to be sustainable too of course, so well played for that!
Absolutely!! 😊 such a great way to look at it!
Great find !

Thanks so much! Hopefully we'll get there! 😊
We LOVE Bangkok Loft Inn and the whole Wongwian Yai neighborhood. Hope you get another chance to visit there another time!!

I'm doing this tomorrow! But I've done Ibis before! It's the best one!! Yay! Jordan and Emily!! Did you guys go to Angkor?
We did!! Our Angkor video comes out tomorrow night! 😊 perfect timing!

Agreed! We were so suprised! We hadn't heard of such quality buses in South East Asia at all!
@@JordanandEmily Yes, Great Ibis is certainly a "cut above" the majority of long distance buses in SE Asia ! 🤣🤣

If you’re still looking in SR, go have dinner at Khmer Taste. You won’t regret it. Also, Kitty Kat Cafe for coffee down by the wet market. Just great.
Thanks for the recommendations!
Have a great day in Cambodia ❤

Hello buddies , do you know if there are a way to find a bus from BKK to Sihanoukville ? Even if we have to stop before in an other city

we didn't 😊 it might depend on your passport though, not sure!

Would IBIS take a bicycle in storage?
I don't see why not!
What can't we miss in Cambodia!?
Angkor Wat in Siem reap
Royal palace in Phnom Penh
Koh Rong Island or Koh Rong samlem island

The market in Kep for seafood, Kampot's pepper farms, and pub street in Siem Reap. Eat plenty of lychee, they were so good there.
Went to Cambodia in 2001, left early
Did you get down to the tropical islands?
Wait… What? You got back on the SAME Ibis bus in Cambodia as the one that brought you there from Thailand? I heard that they are not allowed to cross the border into another country. What am I missing?
Oh, yeah we got on the same bus no problem, saw every other bus cross too! Maybe that was a covid related rule?
Jordan, where are your manners? You should've let Emily take the window seat 😝 Great video guys 👍▶️
Hahaha when I am filming I get the window, it's one of the biggest perks 😄 🤣
