I feel like some people are confused about this, but to be clear: the ONLY reason I bought this is because I was making a video on it and wanted to be accurate. I wanted to make sure that I played the official version of the game and noted all of its problems. Otherwise, I most certainly would not have bought it. Even said as much pre-release, before I thought about writing a script.
I've never understood the whole "You're supporting this by buying it, so your opinion is invalid" argument. You probably cost Nintendo way more than the $60 you spent on this game by releasing this video to 178k subs. Imagine the thousands or even millions of dollars Nintendo's lost from even a fraction of those subs not buying the game. Hell, even for those without such a huge influence, it only takes convincing 1 other person to not buy it to break even, and 2 to put Nintendo in the red.
@@HNfilms And how would they not be? It's a channel that covers a lot of Nintendo games, so it's pretty reasonable to expect that at least some of them were at least thinking of buying the collection. Some of those people might have even been convinced by this video to get these games elsewhere. Therefore, Nintendo would lose their sales.
@@cubedmelons876 the amount would be so tiny that nintendo wouldn't even notice. sadly, the collection has sold like hot cakes so we're definitely going to keep getting lazy money grabbing products
@@HNfilms I'm not arguing that he necessarily needs to convince a lot of people here. This is more directed at those people who are like "You bought the game, so you're still supporting them." If even just 2 people were convinced by this video to not buy the game, then he's technically done more harm than good to Nintendo with his purchase.
They've already made so many zelda remakes. The only ones I can think of are the original, zelda II, and link to the past, which are all already on the nes and SNES apps o. Switch
Duncan McCall But the WiiU remakes weren’t really accessible to the Nintendo fans who skipped out on the WiiU. I think WWHD and TPHD are definitely still worth releasing on the Switch, but I’d hope at a reduced price.
I never understand the mentality of “well you bought it so you can’t complain”. Like, if you buy a sandwich and it tastes terrible are you not allowed to complain about it because you bought and consumed it?
This is exactly what game reviewers are for. They're supposed to get the game, then shit on it if it's bad and praise it if it's good, so potential customers will know if they should buy it or not.
@@astral-p1823 Yup and instead, game reviewers have almost always taken the role of marketing/PR for the company in question, because their business depends on being given review copies and companies nowadays tend to blacklist unfavourable reviewers.
I get what you’re saying but it’s not quite a fair comparison. If you KNEW the sandwich was bad before you bought it, that’s on you. Most people knew the quality of this game (myself included) and bought it anyway. It’s convenient to be able to play those 3 games easily. But they needed love lol
I mean(excluding people or youtubers with mob mentality just shitting on games for views or because it's cool) people wouldn't have been able to make their judgements on games if they haven't bought it in the first place as the scapegoat. So I never got the logic of that argument just because someone bought the game. He'll if anything buying and reviewing it is just to let the word be known like how avgn does.

2004 when Mario 64 wasn't even 10 years old yet: Let's remake all of 64, new characters, new levels and bosses, mini games and multiplayer stuff 2020: uhhh why would you want widescreen
Yeh I would have loved 64 DS on this collection and probably would have bought it then. That game's problem was the DS control pad. Plus, I would have loved playing the minigames in it online with friends, though that may have been tricky to port.
When I was a kid they came out with the Legend of Zelda Collector's Edition. It had OG Zelda, Zelda II, Ocarina of Time, AND Majora's Mask all in one disc. In 2003. If you told me we wouldn't get something better than that in 17 *years* I wouldn't believe you.
What's funny is that that collection didn't have A Link to the Past, what could've been considered the best Zelda game up until OoT. When it was brought up how modern Nintendo would be willing to omit games for no reason, that immediately came to mind; they've already done it.
That's exactly the game I thought of when KingK said, "Nintendo has never shown that level of effort in their collections before, have they?" That game was a huge chunk of my childhood; I still remember how I got nightmares from playing Majora's Mask (a game that incidentally was actually made from Aonuma's nightmares and daydreams).
I’d just like to point out that the MM emulation was garbage, barely playable. Aside from that, it is sad that we haven’t gotten anything better than that though.
I don't know who said it, but someone described this package as "a collection of great games, but not a great collection of games", and that's honestly pretty accurate.
This is all subjective. Of course. In my opinion. These are a great collection of games. Well at least two of them are. I don’t particularly care for Super Mario sunshine.
@@QueSeraSeraaaa I can’t comment on the DS version of Super Mario 64 but I’d pick the original N64 version over it which is superior and that’s all there is to it,there’s nothing to debate.
8:48 "So... what if you're left-handed?" As a left-handed Nintendo fan, I'm rather tired of almost always being forgotten. I remember Spirit Tracks on the DS asking if the player's left-handed or right-handed and I'm convinced that that game's the outlier! Skyward Sword on its release was a brand new gyro-heavy game that had five years of development, and there was no option to play it left-handed, *in a series where the protagonist up until that point had always been left-handed!* I don't understand Nintendo's mindset towards the left-handed at all, especially since Shigeru Miyamoto himself is left-handed!
Mario and Luigi Dream Team had the option for left handed people but then regressed in the Bowser Inside Story to just being right handed. I'm glad that I have some type of weird selective ambidextrousness or Skyward Sword would have been unplayable.

I don't judge games based on graphics or world size I just know a lot of people do. That's also why I think Nintendo would make a lot more money selling skyward sword for 30$. People are gonna take one look at the price and question why it costs as much as Breath of the wild, the newer game.

In Nintendo's case it's both. The Eshop is a steaming pile of dogshit and the games are so eyewateringly expensive for old games, some being that they came out almost a decade ago.
Sakurai did not do anything for the Kirby collection and he has not done anything with Kirby since The Amazing Mirror. Stop associating that man with Kirby anymore. Shinya Kumazaki is now who directs Kirby games and has done far better stuff with Kirby than Sakurai ever did.
Nintendo is basically the teacher who doesn't do anything when a child is being bullied, but the very moment the victim stands up for themselves, they throw a temper tantrum and punish the kid that's always been beaten up.
Honestly, this collection feels like Nintendo didn’t want to make this collection, but since the fans were going crazy about it, they just made it like this
There's one thing that's really been bothering me recently about 3D all stars. Just recently (by the time I'm posting this anyway), Sakurai released a trailer and explanation for Steve from minecraft joining smash bros ultimate. In it, it showed how Steve has an entirely new gameplay style never before seen with any fighter in the game, while cramming as much Minecraft love into it, 6 brand new remixes of Minecraft songs, a brand new stage that looks like it was pulled straight out of Minecraft which also has 6 different forms/biomes, and sakurai explained how they had to rework EVERY STAGE IN THE GAME so it would work and make sense for Steve, all for $5.99. Sakurai and his team most likely put more time, effort, stuff, and love into one $6 dlc pack for a game, than Nintendo has with making a collection of 3 Mario games for $60. That's honestly really really sad. Edit: You could write anything in the RUclips comment section with some sort of opinion in it, and there will always be those kind of people trying their damndest to start an argument Edit 2: Please don't read the replies
One thing I didn’t like about Steve though is the music choice was dogshit. Yes minecraft tracks would be hard to remix to be fighting music, but you did it with pikmin. And even tracks that COULD work like pigstep are just not used. Instead, here are 7 tracks from spinoffs you probably haven’t played. There are many fanmade remixes of minecraft songs that you could definitely fight to, or hell maybe even put in the original Sweden just for history’s sake. Otherwise, sublime. They were really faithful with the moveset, stage, everything. The music section was sadly not given that
that's honestly true....although I wouldn't expect full remakes they could have put more effort into it...although I do consider "sakurai's team"as part of nintendo though

Because a random fan is passionate about this project, but for Nintendo it's a business practice. So why pump lots of money and time into making these versions the optimal version we've all been waiting for, when the casual player will buy it just as much and probably won't notice the things pointed out in the video? This is not meant to rag on fans, not by any means, but a lot of people will not realize things like frames, screen ratio, button remapping, etc. This, I think, only shows how Nintendo banks a lot of their products on their customers lack of knowledge, and honestly, this feels like they take advantage of them.

Gonna toss a theory up there. Nintendo hadn’t actually planned 3D Allstars. They saw the rumors, realized people were expecting it for the anniversary, and so quickly threw something together.
I mean the only new assets are hud and message textures and button updates, they couldn’t even revoice Fludd’s tutorial, so hilariously you hear “Hold the ..... button to run and shoot water.” And stuff like that. It would make sense

Henry Conner yes, because it’s limited release and everyone is scared not to get it in time. I panicked when it was revealed because I knew physical copy preorders would sell out immediately. People who weren’t fortunate enough to get the physical color have to buy it digitally, and they aren’t allowed to have the mindset of getting it later on rather than soon because of limited release.
I mean, you're not wrong. Hell, they ensured they would get away with this by making it a limited release...I pre-ordered two copies the day it was announced.
I think we should create a name for the psychology behind this. I think the Fallout Fallacy sounds like a good name for the concept of using a popular and well-known name, like Fallout, to make an individual blindly trust the quality of a product being sold, therefore misleading the consumer into buying a low quality product.

Most of my gaming experiences these days come from playing the restored Wii online by fans and fan-created mods such as Super Mario Star Road.

I’m laughing at this.
If you are old enough to remember super Mario all stars on the snes when it came out, the effort put into that collection hammers home the point of how poor this new collection is.
My wife and I were talking about this the day we first saw the trailer for this game. It's insane how the attitude and effort has changed over the years.
well maybe because those are 2d games, lol. all they had to do was changing the sprites and music, that's it. if they change the engine or models on 3d all stars, they have to worry of accidentally "tainting" the game and be bashed for something bad or having some game breaking bugs in the games. Sad as it is, there doesn't seem to be much in the way of widespread, accessible conversations about preserving legacy in gaming. It’s obvious that Nintendo is a company split between creative mind and board room executives. Iwata used to be the link between the two but with him gone the disconnect has only grown even more. It’s insane that the company that made BOTW and SMO also released this collection and can’t make joy cons mf work
They need to bite the bullet and issue a re-design, fix all extant Joycons with the new stick model etc. - if Microsoft could replace millions of systems for RRoD, there's no reason Nintendo can't corporately "man up" and admit that they are at fault, and do something to fix it (and no, sending out replacements that are doomed to fail in the same way because they didn't address the underlying issue is not fixing it).
I'd cite the Smash Bros series as the perfect example of what game collections should strive to be. The Smash Bros games are completely original content and shouldn't have any obligation to be anything other than a great fighting game, yet they still always manage to cram in an extensive collection of trailers, music, sound effects, trophies and stickers, etc. Hell, Brawl even had playable demos of NES games. If a fighting game can include that much legacy content, a game thats entire purpose is to pay tribute to a series' past absolutely should be able to.

If Nintendo really hates that people are pirating their games, they need to work harder at preserving their classics. For a company that hates emulators so much, they're doing a pretty damn good job at making sure emulating their games remains the best (and for an embarrassing amount of games, the only) way to play many, many of their older games. The Virtual Console concept has been around since 2006 and at no point in any of its iterations (including its most recent form where it's tied to a monthly subscription) did they ever offer Gamecube games. And of course the one time they decide to rerelease Sunshine, it's tied to a half-assed anniversary collection that costs $60... EDIT: A good personal example, I lost my personal copy of Paper Mario: Thousand Year Door. I no longer even have a Gamecube controller to play it on my Wii. And of course Nintendo never rereleased it on anything, so literally the only way I can play it is through emulation. Guess you didn't need my money after all, Nintendo.
I'm making a 90s/2000s nostalgia room, so I already have an old setup anyway. But TTYD is NOTORIOUS for being one of the hardest Nintendo games to actually be able to play. If you didn't already have everything it'd run you a pretty penny. A vintage TV set, a Gamecube, the controller, a memory card, the cables and cords, and then the copy of the game itself, which will set you back about $125. Ridiculous
Remember that time Nintendo gave out the ocarina of time/master quest disc as a freebie for preordering wind waker? I guess Nintendo forgot how they used to give away legacy content as an incentive to buy new games, rather than the legacy content being the new game.
I personally don't think that was a particularly good move either, it limited a lot the distribution of OOT/MQ so the people who bought a GC after the release of WW or didn't want to buy it day one were screwed

I'd still urge people to watch it, Nintendo is getting away with a LOT of crap recently. Shitty hardware, expensive games, crappy collections and crappy release schedules.
I've noticed with these companies who are at their highest points, tend to get super cocky and complacent with their products, thinking they can get away with pretty much anything. Remember when Sony thought they could get away with charging the ps3 for $599 at launch because the ps2 was a flipping success?
I mean each of those PS3s did cost $800 to make so they were losing $200 for each console sold. That's why they removed the PS2 support from future models because it was just simply too expensive.
That's not the reason Sony sold it at that price. Even at $599, they sold it at a loss. The console itself was expensive because of the Cell processor, Emotion Engine and the Blu-ray drive.
18:28 This is a very important distinction to make: Nintendo, the game maker and Nintendo, the corporation. As someone who worked in studios before, I can assure you that many designers and developers at (or associated with) Nintendo are probably not happy with these decisions either. They would love to give these games a proper HD remake akin to OoT3D/MM3D or WWHD.
I don’t get how Nintendo doesn’t realize that stunts like this are why people proceed down the very path they try to prevent them from going down: emulation. People WANT to play Nintendo’s games from it’s near 40 years of being a game company. Younger fans who are just getting into Nintendo and want to play these old games don’t have an NES, SNES, 64, GC, or even a Wii to play them legitimately. These younger fans constantly find themselves in these situations: I want to play “X character’s” game. The options are like so. You either shell out hundreds of dollars for both a copy of the game AND the console to play it on (which Nintendo makes absolutely no money off of btw) or you buy it off the Wii U E-Shop (assuming it’s on there) which you likely don’t have because nobody bought that thing. And what a lot of younger people who find themselves in this situation don’t have is money or parents who don’t want you paying over $100 just to play a video game. So, in that case, why not emulate it? Instead of dumping hundreds of dollars into games like EarthBound or Fire Emblem Path of Radiance which doesn’t even go to Nintendo because you cannot buy these games new anymore, why not just spend five minutes downloading an emulator and the game to play through it and get a shit ton of options to make the experience better in terms of display and aesthetics? Spending hundreds of dollars on eBay to play a 20 year old game is not a suitable way to play that game. Most people only emulate because Nintendo does not provide them a feasible alternative to play these games today. If Nintendo put older games on the Switch, especially those that go for $100s of dollars on eBay, MUCH less people would emulate them I guarantee it. You cannot kill emulation, Nintendo. There will always be a ROM side with every single Nintendo game on it ready to download. What you can do is provide feasible alternatives to play these games on the Switch.
I seriously don't get why Nintendo don't realize this. What's the point of cracking down on emulation when you can just make the games available on your store? I wouldn't emulate old SNES and N64 games if I could buy them for 5-10 dollars, and I suspect this is true of a lot of people. If you don't make them available for digital download AND you crusade against emulation, you're saying the only way to play these games is to buy the old console and carts on eBay which... doesn't make you any money anyway? Sadly though, I guess we have our answer now... they WANT these games to be impossible to find so they can Disney Vault them and drum up tons of hype for limited releases of games that predate the Obama Administration.
Nessential I totally feel you on Path of Radiance. I just got into the fire emblem series and really want to play some of the older games. I can play some of the newer ones on my 3ds but anything before that is lost to time. Especially GameCube titles. Good luck getting your hands on anything from that era.
Totally agree, and it’s the same thing Apple was smart enough to realize, and so they invented iTunes: people will pay for something if you make it convenient for them to buy. Before iTunes, there was a ton of digital piracy of songs, because there was really no other way to get them digitally. And a lot of the tracks had shitty audio quality. But then iTunes happened-it gave people high quality audio, the ability to buy single tracks at a reasonable price, one big place to organize your library, and it was easy to use- and it was a massive success. People will pay for something if there is an easy way to do so. Nintendo are numbskulls and do not provide that way, thereby losing out on so much money, and, more importantly, goodwill with the public.
Lets hope this is a lesson Nintendo will learn. They have so much going for them and are the most successful and beloved Japanese company. They've become a household icon in themselves. I'd hate to see them ruin that beautiful reputation because of an abysmal business practice. They deserve and need this criticism just as much as they do praise
I think he refers the comparison to disney as the two companies had been doing great things but now they are releasing shitty versions of it's classics. Just look what disney did with Mulan, they ruined it
Nintendo can’t legally shut down emulators as they’re not against copyright law. It would be like cancelling can openers because they allow you to have canned beans that you **could’ve** stole. They are, however, allowed to take down ROM sites as putting ROMs on the web for free is illegal and against copyright law. Also, with the right tools you *can* dump ROMs legally from your console to a computer, no matter what console it is (currently). You would just need an emulator to *LEGALLY* play these games, making emulators legal. Nintendo emulating games and selling them at full price is absolute bullshit though.
@@Mewtwo_150 Uhm, no. Emulation is a ground up rebuild of a console built to work on another console (ex: Dolphin for PC or Not64 for Wii). A console has an OS of its own. Because emulation isn’t from the original console, there are some glitches that don’t happen on console, to prove that emulation and console are not one and the same. For example, on Dolphin emulator, in Super Mario Sunshine, there is a glitch where you can finish the cleanup in Serena Beach early that does not exist on console. (I would go into further detail but I know next to nothing on Sunshine.) Also, Paper Mario ROM hacks are prone to crash on N64, but not as much on emulator. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask.
I was willing to ignore most of these faults. But the moment I heard no more "so long gay bowser" I realized there is no longer any good in this world.
How did they even do it? Does Mario just not say anything now when he tosses Bowser or does he just say "So long *bleep* Bowser"? Either way it's a despicable act on Nintendo's part to remove such an iconic and random line.
@@VideoGameStupidLC In the Shindou release he always said Bye-Bye, and there are a few gameplay changes from the original. Been like that since the 90s
I just don't get why nintendo is going after the nonprofits dedicated to showing off their history and not the scalpers making small fortunes on single games that they never get a cent of, and seem to even be ENABLING them.
You're wrong about one thing, Nintendo does get a cent of it. The scalpers have to buy the games in order to resell them, so why would Nintendo fight something that makes people buy their games? Besides dignity of course.
Scalping isn’t illegal, but it should be. It’s one of the shittiest things you can do to make a quick buck. That being said, it feels like Nintendo scalped their own games and sold them to us for a much bigger profit.
Anyone who says these games were released for "preservation" or "for the fans" is lying to themselves. This collection was released for a quick cashgrab, and no other reason.
@Shaman Xeed Looking through your channel tells me you hate only on popular things because you subscribe to the notion that "No publicity is bad publicity." Also, no one needs to listen to the point of someone who willingly states they are "The epitome of greatness." When you said, "Where is Chibi Robo?"...I felt that. Update: Just got Chibi-Robo working on my Wii via Nintendont and I've finally got to experience it! An underrated classic for sure.
It's such a missed opportunity when you still have many of the people who created these games working at Nintendo, but they're not given the chance to update their games. Comparing this to Crash again, the developers of Twinsanity still have the design docs and would let them be used in a remake to truly finish the game they didn't have enough time to complete.
When I first got into Crash, around the time of CTR:NF's release I was constantly thinking "why doesn't Nintendo do this with Mario?" every time I read anything about Crash. Bringing back obscure characters; canonising "spin-off" characters like Nitros Oxide; experimenting with different art styles; so on.

@@SunlightGwyn but the modder can always offer superior mods. Super Mario World rom hacks can use any character and any music without paying a license. For all the reasons."
SNES also had other collections like the Ninja Gaiden Trilogy and Dr. Mario & Tetris and they were at least fine ways to play the classic games. What happened to Nintendo man

Then they didn't change 64 at all and overpriced the whole thing, and made it limited time, AND messed up controls.
That last quote made me say "God damn" out loud. No, you're not alone. As far as I'm concerned, Nintendo is just becoming Japanese EA lately. Maybe it's not too late to turn things around, but I doubt it. The new corporate heads sure aren't helping, and it makes me realize just how good we had it with Iwata.
im gonna vent about Nintendo for a sec. There is a lot I really dislike about Nintendo. Every game being $60, their lack of legacy content support, their policy on glitches and their insistence on playing their games the way they want you to play it, joy cons being the worst controller simply due to hardware failure, their lack of transparency, their hate of fan games and mods, and more if I kept thinking about it. I often ask myself why i still love Nintendo so much and I've decided that I love the game designers, programmers, artists, all the people putting in the man hours on their original games. I do not like their Public Relations, marketers, pricing people, port maker people, and the men in suits making all these anti-consumer moves. Nintendo is such a lopsided company, they have the most brilliant and talented game and console developers in the business, but their stubbornness and overall anti-consumerness is really really irritating. I don't know who to blame and i of course blame nintendo overall but i wish Nintendo would just wash out all the filthy decisions and actions from their company and let their game designers shine.
Their corporate culture prevents any criticism from reaching upper management. They cannot talk back or object, no matter how stupid their decisions are. It's like watching someone shoot themselves in the foot, and you can't stop them because they have the gun.
Satoru Iwata was the man that made nintendo better. Not perfect...But on a much better path. But now that he is dead...They can just anal their consumers at will...and mostly get away with murder now. Much like AMONG US. Nintendo is the IMPOSTOR....
I swear it’s the Switch’s success as to why Nintendo has been so lazy lately. Since it prints out money, why put in any kind of effort? I feel like Wii U era Nintendo was trying a lot harder to put out a lot new stuff AND offer legacy content for an okay price
the wii u was kind of a failure and it sucks because it had some really good games, but the switch maybe they thought they had a new chance, but then realized it was a good tactic and just started releasing ass old games for switch and got so fucking lazy. sucks but it's the truth :\
Lol I played the game for free. Would NEVER buy this game. Nintendo doesn't deserve my money anymore, so I hacked my switch lol I can get any game I want, for free. Of course, there are those which deserve to be bought, like smash. Sakurai is a good man.
13:45 - To add on to this, *NOW* you can buy all of Kingdom Hearts (the HD collections and KH3) for less than $40, which is just an absurd amount of content if you're into those games.
I'll just keep "pirating" the old games that I have no realistic way of getting legally, until theres a good alternative. Nintendo can loose that potential money I guess.
Buying an N64 off of eBay isn’t even giving Nintendo any money. It’s disappointing that Nintendo sits there and pouts demanding we buy this lazy ass collection rather than playing better games using an emulator or unofficial profs for free.

It blows my mind when I compare this to 3D World on switch... That game has enhanced performance, a new snapshot feature and AN ENTIRE BONUS GAME. How come that game received so much care and attention compared with this one? Bowser's Fury feels more like a celebration of Mario's legacy than this did...
true, I even like the switch port more then the original Wii U port because they improved the speed and performance. Even if they did something as little as that by just making a better performance it would not be as hated
3D world for switch was in development before 3D all stars hit shelf’s. If it was in development after 3D all stars hit shelf’s, then I believe that it wouldn’t have bowsers fury, or half the improvements they made to 3D world. Nintendo would have seen how little they had to do for 3D all stars for it to sell well, and would’ve done the same for 3D world. We should be thanking our lucky stars that that didn’t happen

Woah woah woah wait. They’ve been DELISTING games they’ve ported over to the Switch?? What the fuck, and now they’re closing the Wii U/3DS eshops this year
14:37 Don't forget that we had to wait even longer (over a year?) to get DK1 for the online console. That's one of the SNES' biggest staples, yet plenty of subpar titles were added to the library much earlier.

When I copped my Switch back in April, I downloaded the online console thinking the first game I had in mind to play was the DKC series. Realizing it wasn’t there was such a huge disappointment. I remember always wanting a Wii growing up with the thought of having a Virtual console with every retro game at hand and available to purchase. And now having the Switch with very little games interested to play, I literally went months without touching it mainly to the fact that Nintendo lets their consumers starve for games they don’t even need much effort in re-releasing.
@@vault1021 Ha yeah for me I barely play switch anymore because of the limited games, I'll play mario maker 2, super metroid, a link to the past and smash ultimate. That's it
That's an actual business model. Disney do it too. Movies hidden in "the vault". Released on vhs/dvd only for limited periods of time. They've been doing it for decades. Shame Nintendo seem to follow this model these days.
It's stuff like this that makes me miss the Wii U era. Remember when Nintendo said it was their *goal* to make Wii U owners feel as if their purchase was worth it? When you could just... BUY old games off the Eshop, as well as play the entire Wii library? When we got free online and a full social media platform exclusive to the Nintendo consoles? When we got Nintendo Selects versions of games that had already sold well? Say what you will about Nintendo that generation, but it really feels like a lot of that care for the customer died at around 2016. Or you know, after Iwata passed. Since then, Nintendo has become so much more... businesslike, and it's a little sad to see happen. :( Edit: Fixed a typo.

Actually I think buying the collection validates your points even more, by buying the collection and being able to form a well written argument, your points are coming from both sides of the argument (switch/dolphin), letting you actually make sense of what your saying.
I personally do not see you being a downer. You mentioned qualities this collection has and more importantly, where it could improve. This is a voice a lot of people are afraid to express because we love the company so much. Nintendo could use info like this to improve the game with patches (which could tie into March 31), & could also improve company decisions. Even if they don't, at least it spreads awareness. I see this as a positive video!
I think he got his points across very well and makes some amazing arguments, which I 100% agree with. But I think his tone and aggression made half the video feel more like angry venting by a negatively biased fan and less an objective retrospective on some current and even old problems Nintendo has, and how this new game is problematic.
They’re the Walt Disney Studios of video games. But at least Disney allows you to watch literally all of its old movies in 4K for like $8 a month. Edit: a word

@Meme Man I didn't say the original All-Stars had a good menu I said it had a good title screen and box art. The menu sucked for the original All-Stars. The title screen had Characters from the games in the collection like Birdo and Luigi all standing together just talking and it looks nice not lines between gameplay of games. Money isn't a excuse either. After 3/31/21, This collection will be around $200 while the original All Stars will be at maximum around $80. They could have just have used the original source code and even then, N64 Emulation was some of the 1st emulating.
@Meme Man All stars had to port everything to run natively on the SNES and make all of the graphics and music from scratch. 3D All stars is nowhere near that.
You know... It was kind of cute during the Wii - DS era under Iwata because it felt like they just wanted everyone to have fun and they were going to do it in their own way. There was an honesty to the Virtual Console: it's in the name. No ports, no budget, just some ROMs and proprietary emulator at an arguably cheap price. They had a riposte to complaints of not re-releasing or remaking old games because they were so devoted to hardware backwards compatibility. But now all that's gone, and they're adopting all the garbage practices of their console rivals whilst bringing over all of their own: no BC, unnecesary and overpriced remastered collections, shoddy temperamental hardware, paid online, all this nonsense on top of their own. There's no illusion anymore. No excuse. The magic is gone and we have to move on.
@Paul Bell They haven't even released anything regarding to the anniversary, and I can already tell you that this anniversary is gonna be better than nintendo's
I have no problem in paying 50$ for any nintendo first party games I enjoy them for years whereas today's Aaa Games especially fps, I never look back at them once m done with them
Only after being called out has Nintendo decided to update Super Mario 3D All Stars. The pause button no longer murders the framerate, there are no debug boxes in the Secret of the Dirty Lake mission anymore, the censor beep that played when starting a race has been replaced, and to top it off there's camera invert options and Gamecube controller support. I don't commend Nintendo for this, as all of this should have been in the game in the first place.

Edit: You could write anything in the RUclips comment section with some sort of opinion in it, and there will always be those kind of people trying their damndest to start an argument
Edit 2: Please don't read the replies
Most likely? Guaranteed.
Sakurai puts a ton of effort into his games, a lot more than many devs at Nintendo seem to.
The music section was sadly not given that
Well, that's why a lot of people love Sakurai. He's a glimmer of hope ^^

TLDW; Generally speaking, Nintendo is fantastic as a game developer, but they're absolute trash as a service provider.
Fantastic way to put it.
Very, very true
i think a lot of people give them too much credit. expect modern features and handling of IPs. .. the company is ran by japanese boomers. they only see in white and black and are very ignorant. theyre different from american boomers in that they are stubborn about being wrong, they refuse to think people will like these older games and fight such things internally.instead of playing super mario sunshine they want you to play odyssey. its a culture and management issue. and they do not want to sink money into online because they don't think people will play competitively and already do not like the competitive fanbases. i've been thinking about this issue for a long time and im glad there's a video like this
I love the way that the ad for this game just comes on during the video
I'd still urge people to watch it, Nintendo is getting away with a LOT of crap recently. Shitty hardware, expensive games, crappy collections and crappy release schedules.
I've noticed with these companies who are at their highest points, tend to get super cocky and complacent with their products, thinking they can get away with pretty much anything. Remember when Sony thought they could get away with charging the ps3 for $599 at launch because the ps2 was a flipping success?
This is why I’m worried for the PS5
@@JIreland1992 The PS5 is 500 bucks man, it's not gonna have the same issue. The digital is 400 as well.
gu3z1 have you seen the pre order disaster going on?
I read that entire thing and I 100% agree

Nintendo: Shuts down Emulators that contain their games
Also Nintendo: Uses the emulators to port the games
Using this logic every single console is an emulator
@@GojoGOATED it's more about the use of their IP
Nintendo can’t legally shut down emulators as they’re not against copyright law. It would be like cancelling can openers because they allow you to have canned beans that you **could’ve** stole. They are, however, allowed to take down ROM sites as putting ROMs on the web for free is illegal and against copyright law. Also, with the right tools you *can* dump ROMs legally from your console to a computer, no matter what console it is (currently). You would just need an emulator to *LEGALLY* play these games, making emulators legal. Nintendo emulating games and selling them at full price is absolute bullshit though.
@@lMrStickerStarl That last sentence is literally how every single console works

I just don't get why nintendo is going after the nonprofits dedicated to showing off their history and not the scalpers making small fortunes on single games that they never get a cent of, and seem to even be ENABLING them.
This a good point that Nintendo sadly doesn’t seem to give a shit about
Plot twist: They have a deal with scalpers to get some of the profit.
...I mean, would you honestly be surprised if that ended up being true?
They get the money scalpers use to buy their stuff...or am I missing something?
You're wrong about one thing, Nintendo does get a cent of it. The scalpers have to buy the games in order to resell them, so why would Nintendo fight something that makes people buy their games? Besides dignity of course.
Scalping isn’t illegal, but it should be. It’s one of the shittiest things you can do to make a quick buck. That being said, it feels like Nintendo scalped their own games and sold them to us for a much bigger profit.

I often ask myself why i still love Nintendo so much and I've decided that I love the game designers, programmers, artists, all the people putting in the man hours on their original games. I do not like their Public Relations, marketers, pricing people, port maker people, and the men in suits making all these anti-consumer moves. Lolcat you realize companies have to make a profit right? 8 dollars a month in order to watch some of your favorite childhood movies with no ads is honestly a blessing compared to other streaming services.
@@lolcat Yeah lol my bad. Point still stands
Alternative Title: KingK tells us how good dolphin emulator is
“What is going to happen with the Zelda collection?”
Gone
Reduced to atoms...
In all-stars from SNES they didn't emulate those games, they made an adaption of every single of them.
@Meme Man THEY MADE IT IN 16-Bit MAN and we got a game we hadn't even heard of, a new and fun title screen, for only $40. THAT IS A HUGE CHANGE
As said by Nathaniel Bandy himself “Not only are there FOUR classic Mario games but they’ve all been graphically improved to look a lot better”.
It was the rom put on a disc. They didn't even change the SNES icons...
I'm glad fans are FINALLY waking up to Nintendo's shitty business practices and low-effort products.

@BlackButterCrunch Of course it was, but at least it was cute, charismatic BS
I have no problem in paying 50$ for any nintendo first party games I enjoy them for years whereas today's Aaa Games especially fps, I never look back at them once m done with them
Only after being called out has Nintendo decided to update Super Mario 3D All Stars. The pause button no longer murders the framerate, there are no debug boxes in the Secret of the Dirty Lake mission anymore, the censor beep that played when starting a race has been replaced, and to top it off there's camera invert options and Gamecube controller support. I don't commend Nintendo for this, as all of this should have been in the game in the first place.
Yeah, I started playing Sunshine on the Switch with my gamecube controller and I couldn't understand why people said it didn't work lol
