Attia has confused, to a great degree, correlation with causation and whiffed on the causation. VO2 max will naturally correlate with mitochondrial health. People with toxic mitochondria will not get healthier training for a marathon! Someone with tip-top mitochondria might have so much clean energy they decide to train for marathons on a whim. It’s the mitochondria, Money! The VO2 max follows. If the mitochondria is toxic and said person goes straight to trying to blow up their VO2 max, they may take the pavement temperature challenge sooner rather than later! Think!
Muscle mass is an effect of mitochondrial health and epigenetics. I had a friend who was yoked in his 30s. Due to poor epigenetics (the inverse of the RPC), my ability to gain muscle ended at 21 due to nerve damage and, frankly, my body refusing to add muscle and additional mitochondrial stress. It probably saved my life. My yoked friend had a heart attack at an age about 10 years younger than I am now. The surgeries damaged his kidneys and he’s in dialysis right now. In our 30s, Attia and Lyon would look at both of is and put me in the grave…. Yet they would have been exactly wrong. And it wasn’t because I had any secret sauce - I was a mess, but my body had a mechanism in play that made working out futile. If it didn’t, I would have worked myself to death as those muscles would have torched my bio-copper and magnesium such that my heart would have become depleted! If your muscles are torching your deleted bio-copper and magnesium stores, brother… your heart will deplete faster. 2+2=4. I agree with both ASSUMING one has healthy mitochondria. If not, and many don’t, then they need some combination of the RPC and detox to rebuild their bio-copper, magnesium, retinoic acid and mitochondrial epigenetics and function first, or following your advice here might well damage or kill them much sooner than if they didn’t.
Energy flux validates my point. Low energy flux will strongly correlate with low functioning mitochondria and high energy flux will strongly correlate high functioning mitochondria with solid mitochondrial epigenetics. So… 2+2=4 again! Sit back, relax, and think slowly through your assumed cause and effect paradigm and try to prove whatever you think is the cause of health is superior to mitochondrial function. I have and mitochondrial function is the top of the mountain as far as I can tell. Everything else flows from it. The cart can’t pull the horse.
Muscle is very important. My mother in her early 80's stopped driving, stopped walking, stopped looking after animals on her farm, and spent all day sitting watching TV. She became bone thin, couldn't walk or hardly stand, became very frail, and passed within a year.
I respect Thomas's willingness to listen to and continue to dialog with those with whom he's had disagreement. Too often people dismiss others based on a single disagreement, which hinders exchange of information and slows the learning process. Credit to Thomas for being humble and thirsty for knowledge.
He never seems to listen to my comments. I paste the one I just made ------> I need to correct something. Few have said you need to decrease protein intake as get older, I have heard no expert say that. The question is how much do we increase it by, if at all. I would go with Longo who is a qualified professional full time (all his life) longevity researcher (not a GP etc who wrote a best selling book). The amounts of protein he recommends for bodyweight is way below what Peter A says. I quote Longo "If you are below the age of 65, keep protein intake low (0.31 to 0.36 grams per pound of body weight). That comes to 40 to 47 grams of proteins per day for a person weighing 130 pounds, and 60 to 70 grams of protein per day for someone weighing 200 to 220 pounds. Over age 65, you should slightly increase protein intake but also increase consumption of fish, eggs, white meat, and products derived from goats and sheep to preserve muscle mass. Consume beans, chickpeas, green peas, and other legumes as your main source of protein."
@@roripantsu My point was about him ignoring the leading specialist longevity researchers who are qualified and have studied it all their lives like Longo. He should have heard of them, and know their stance. In favor of others like GPs who have little relevant training but have best selling books by telling people what is trendy that they want to believe. Even so, when I made that comment I recall it was number 100. Now 9 hours up for this video and and 200 comments in total. In my experience most channels scan most comments to see if there is anything of interest. I have seen him reply to others comments by never mine... But still, that was not my point. Please listen to the point I made about the leading researchers vs best selling authors and vloggers.
@@andrewnorris5415 If you want to preserve muscle and strength, animal protein and plenty of it are best. However plant protein is better for cardiovascular health. Dr Peter Attia is not just a GP. GPs also vary greatly in knowledge and expertise. Respect
The key takeaways from Thomas DeLauer's discussion with 11 longevity scientists are: 1. **Increased Protein with Age**: Contrary to common belief, increasing protein intake as we age is beneficial for muscle protein synthesis and overall longevity. 2. **Importance of Muscle Mass**: Muscle mass plays a crucial role in preventing frailty and maintaining quality of life in older age, going beyond just physical appearance. 3. **Creatine Beyond Muscle Building**: Creatine is effective not only for muscle growth but also for reducing inflammation and enhancing recovery after workouts. 4. **Critical Role of Omega-3s**: A deficiency in Omega-3 fatty acids can be as harmful as smoking in terms of cardiovascular health, underscoring their importance in the diet. 5. **Longevity Insights from Monaco**: The high life expectancy in Monaco is attributed to factors like diet (especially olive oil's polyphenols), sunlight exposure, and vitamin D levels. 6. **Nutrient Quality Over Caloric Restriction**: Quality of nutrients might be more important than simply reducing calorie intake for longevity, as seen in studies with primates. 7. **Processed Food Consumption Concerns**: The high consumption of processed foods in the U.S. is linked to various health issues and challenges in controlling appetite. 8. **GABA Supplements and Brain Health**: GABA supplements may not be effective due to their inability to cross the blood-brain barrier, suggesting a need to focus on other substances for relaxation and recovery. 9. **Alcohol's Negative Impact on the Brain**: Alcohol consumption adversely affects various body systems, particularly the brain, impacting overall health. 10. **Peptides for Injury Recovery**: Certain peptides, like BPC157, can significantly aid in injury recovery by enhancing blood flow to the affected areas. 11. **Energy Flux in Fat Loss**: A higher energy flux (consuming and expending more energy) is more effective for fat loss compared to a lower energy flux (consuming and expending less energy).
Thanks for summarizing. However, the title is clickbait - his views didn't change at all. It's the same as it's always been, or in other words, it's a summarizing of his past videos.
#4. I’ve changed my mind on omega 3. Jay Feldman in his energy balance podcast covers why omega 3 is isn’t good. Just another problematic polyunsaturated fat
@@kevinwalker7392 Does he explain then how the body cant use any other polyinsaturated fat in cellular structure?Or is he suggesting he is finding in research polyunsaturated fat replacing the DHA/ALA? Because for this opinion to be accurate, there will need to be histology to back it up. Im very interested if this is. the case, it will be a paradigm change for metabolic nutrition.
Plus they can afford all the trendy supplements, such as B12 shots, there is next to no crime in Monaco (no murders to reduce average life span) and there are clinics that can provide organs bought from impoverished third world peasants...or their grieving relatives.
Let me paint you a picture of what you helped me with and through. First of all, I'm a 56 year old male. I had long covid for 3 years. I'm free of it now, but I still need to get double cataract surgery. I was 6'5" 280 lbs on June 1st, 2023, and I'm 240 lbs today, thanks to your expertise and videos. I'm stronger now before covid. I even sold my car and bought a gravel bike to force myself to get in even better shape. Thank you for your time and help.
Sounds like you might have had an injury from the shots ? Black seed oil, NAC, and activated charcoal are great for getting toxins out of your cells .. worth a look at detox protocols. A few out there but all very similar tbh. Effective.
@vardaanbhat6780 Mostly my diet and calculations for exactly what I wanted to use for my new lifestyle. For instance, I only eat locally sourced food from farmers that I can trust. Most of my diet is fresh food 😋. But the supplements I chose to take were not only for the extreme tendon and ligament pain I had, but to accell my muscle mass growth that intern helped me burn more calories every day. Here are the supplements that I will keep. 1. NAC 2. Dr. Bergs D3 /K2 3. Dr. Bergs gallbladder formula (a must if you consume a lot of fat) 4. Tumeric 5. Equate vision formula 50+, 6. Bilberry, 7. HMB, 8. Nutricost Hits Vitamin B complex. 9. Alpha Brain 10. Vitamin C 1000 mg chewables. The most important thing is my breakfast. 6 eggs cooked with citric acid from limes and lemon juice. You can always sprinkle in your creatine monohydrate( 11) and a little bit of cinnamon and ginger. A dash of jerk seasoning for flavor and an Equate meal replacement milkshake. 😋 Keep it cheap and simple.
I increased my protein intake to double. I am as sharp as a knife. I went back to work part time. And in March I am taking web coding pages, and TESL. Oh I am 74 years old.
9:30 might help to know that Monaco ist the richest country in the world regarding gdp per capita (nominal, top3 in ppp) and has 36k inhabantants on less than 2 km²(1mi²), the highest population density among all sovereign countries. So there's no space to grow any olive trees. They're simply rich and can afford the best health care and nutrition.
If the true problem is not understood then a solution cannot be found. Once again, the focus is only on the physical when the real issue is not physical health but rather Emotional Health (not mental health). Even Attia's book and final chapter states "Emotional Health (i.e. relationships) trumps everything else". The Blue Zone research states "more than 50% of the longevity equation is your relationships and connections". We cannot continue to try and solve humanity's emotional problems with physical solutions. This is one of the greatest oversights of modern medicine. Years ago, everyone KNEW the world was flat. ALL the "experts" said so. It turns out, they were ALL wrong. It's time for a paradigm shift for humanity's sake.
The main reason Monaco's residents live so long is the average person there is rich. Money buys top health care and the quality food to support good health.
I really loved the way you compacted all the important information and different views into a single video. Other videos waste so much time by supplying a small piece of information in a single video where you have to search the whole thing and try to find it, or watch it all. So valubale. Thank you Thomas. Subscribed!
Yup I literally just ran an experiment where I went from completely clean eating meat and eggs to adding just 1000 cal of processed snack foods, and one fast food meal every 2-3 days. I gained 7.9kg/17.4lbs in just 8 weeks. Plus my inflammation got so bad the skin on my finger started cracking. Filmed and documented what went on.
@@TheToplessChefWB "Completely clean eating meat and eggs", LOL. Meat is neither clean nor healthy. Red meat is even a known carcinogen, and eggs are known to be worse than red meat.
So you are motivated or else you wouldn't follow your habits. I think a lot of people misunderstand what motivation actually is. It's not a feeling. It's a drive. A pull. And you may hate doing something, it may feel horrible but you will still feel pulled by it because you think it's important. That is motivation. Without it you wouldn't do anything. So when it comes to things that you know are good for you but you still don't do them then the problem is not a lack of motivation but the fact that you are suppressing your motivation! You wouldn't feel bad if you didn't feel motivated to do it. The fact that you suppress it makes you feel horrible about it, not the anticipation of the act itself.
Wow .... I LOOOVE the put together of this episode! Right to the point. A great remider and a much easier eay to gather the most essential updated pices of information from top expert. Thank you Thomas for your humility and hard work! ... I am yet to find a worthy competitor to you. Your the Best!
I have neighbor, he passed away few years ago, like very old man. Some 5 years before his death he was ill and very weak, so everyone was thinking that he is not going to live much longer, that state was for couple of months, than he started taking whey with his grandson, and started to walk little bit more and more. I donr know is it from whey protein powder, but he recovers and live nice for 5 years more
Thomas' channel is like drinking from a fire hydrant. There's so much information, so much data, so many studies, theories, and ideas. It can be a bit overwhelming, but it's worth hearing, all of it.
I have watched many many videos of yours and of the people that you have interviewed. I have a job I can listen to podcasts and work in and average 4-5 hours of health and financial podcasts in a day. I’ve lost over 70 lbs over the last year a half and have been doing the podcasts for about that long too. Size 44 pants down to a 34 currently. I have developed a insane curiosity of how my body works and wanted to say I loved this video. I have actually seen a few of the videos and people referenced and really appreciate you sharing the golden nuggets of your year. Thank you for your work and I hope some day I can be jacked like you are. Keep up the good work.
Phenomenal video Thomas! Nothing buy, concise and relevant information across the spectrum. I can truly appreciate your willingness and ability to pursue and continue conversations and collabs, with other experts that you may not completely agree with.
Saladino's point resonates with me well. I spend 3 months of my year in Armenia eating farm food and homemade stuff. If you witnessed the amount I eat you wouldn't believe it. Blocks and blocks of homemade cheese, insane amounts of bbq, and fruits to a point I drop. With all that nonstop eating I actually lose weight, compared to the US where I can't seam to eat or digest anything. I fast more than I eat and if I eat more than a small meal a day, I gain weight. I do not exercise when traveling, and I do exercise when in US. Calories are irrelevant, it's all about what you're eating.
@NanulSavage This is so true. The Food & Dairy I had in my ancestral country side and villages in India literally makes my belly go flat. I couldn't believe it!
Related to processed foods, it seems to me that smoothies, regardless of contents, bypass the beginning of digestion in the mouth. So it seems healthier to eat food that starts with chewing.
Just an anecdotal story, but my grandmother is by far the healthiest elderly person I’ve ever met and she does not eat this much protein. She eats fairly vegetarian…not by design, but because she says that’s what she prefers and is more drawn to. She’s 84, walks for an hour a day on a trail outside, travels internationally alone, walks a half marathon every year, is always doing projects around the house, and generally does whatever she wants. She lives like a very healthy person in their 60s would. Could be those longevity genes, who knows!
I love the perspective(love that theme) that you're underscoring here. I have a saying...."Don't be afraid to call tomorrow a lie what you believe to be true today".
Absolutely love your presentations. They give food for thought. It’s not necessary to agree with everything the “experts“ say. They, like us, give their interpretation of the scientific studies that aim to get more information to understand what is happening to us given certain conditions. Absolutely none of these studies can be all-inclusive. Many cannot be performed on humans without moral concerns. We can only determine for ourselves, what “makes sense”. These experts provide that and you present them to us. Thank you!
Thanks Thomas! We cannot choose between Good and Evil. We only choose to be motivated by Love or Fear. "Love is that which enables choice. Love is always stronger than Fear. Always choose on the basis of Love." --Forrest Landry
Excellent video Thomas. I really really respect you for your approach to how you reflected on the willingness to listen to opposing views or openeness to learn from others. This takes being humble, lower ones ego and a teachable mindset. You are a master in this space because of this. What if more people listened more to people with opposing views vs screaming at each other and closing off the mind to learning from each other. How different this country would be. Starting in Washington DC all the way to your neighbors. Legendary video.
Nope. Dr. Aimen on alcohol. They have done dozens of studies over decades with hundreds of thousands of people eliminating every possible variable and every single one of them has shown that moderate alcohol drinkers outlive non-drinkers and heavy drinkers. No question about it. The facts are the facts. What I can't figure out is why it's now PC to deny that undeniable fact.
These videos should help the aging population, doctors are not telling us all of this information instead they give us medication that make us feel worse. I truly appreciate these videos and putting the information out there for us have better health and live good life in process. Thank you!!
Nice to hear some info that pretains to old people! As a small 66 year old woman, I find it difficult to get even the lowest recommended levels of protein. Especially since I'm not a breakfast eater and often don't eat until early afternoon. In light of some new research discuss here and also by Dr Valter Longo, Mark Sisson and others I am now drinking a protein shake in the morning. I don't want to lose muscle and become frail!
Thank you Thomas. So many great points. The biggest being is that science is never settled. We keep growing and evolving so we must never stop questioning things. Thank you for your continued search for the #Truth
HI THOMAS, CAN YOU TALK ABOUT DAILY EXERCISE FOR PEOPLE OVER 50TH , AS OF MAKE THEM STRONG AND HELPING THEM NOT LOSE MUSCLE, NOT LOSING BALANCE AND HOW TO HELP BURNING THE DAILY SUGAR ,CARB BURNING ...EXERCISING ONE CHEST MUSCLES AS FLATE NEXT DAY CAN THEY DO UPPER CHEST TO DO ALL BODY PARTS IN ORDER TO BURN THE SUGAR IN THEIR BLOOD AND KEEPING THEIR JOINTS WORKING .
This is true..I'm almost 70 and I def eat more protein now and I really feel I need it..More eggs and meat and fish. I think I even need more than I eat now ..
THANK YOU …. I have listened to every guest you featured and subscribe to half of them. Each of them are bright minded knowledgeable professionals and have so much to offer. I think it is most important to be the captain of your own health because we know our bodies best, and to utilize the information of selfless docs like these to help us figure out what works best and what doesn’t for us to stay healthy and strong. Thanks so much for this video. Exceptional⭐️⭐️⭐️
Why do all so called "experts" have to make health so damn complicated? For one thing, ordinary people can't afford the supplements and "superfoods" you talk about. Here's some simple advice. Stop eating so much sugar. Do whatever exercise you enjoy. Sleep well. Destress your life in any way possible. Do things you enjoy. That's it. All this other stuff is noise.
Great point and here’s the answer that I know you know… lol….The marketplace is flooded with these “so called experts” all saying the same thing with their own twist. These are people wanting to earn a living without working in the classic sense of the word and because they are in abundance to build individual value they must present the illusion of the solutions to wellness being highly complex and technical endeavor rather than stating it as simply and correctly as you did. There’s no money to be had by keeping it simple. To the same affect that there is more money in creating medications rather than fixing the habits that make them necessary. It’s worth noting that while explaining the how and the way are bodies work is complex, the blueprint of how to behave healthy requires the simplest of explanations as demonstrated within your post.
You have a great point, and I cant help but agree with you to a certain extent. But I also can't help but think that your comment would lead most to believe that you simply shouldnt watch channels like this if you are that adamant about that viewpoint.
It's just the difference between doing well, let's say a 90% solution, and optimizing to get that last 10%. I agree you'd do fine with what you say. Some people want that last 10%. Well, okay for them too.
Love your channel! It is amazing to really dive into the science of nutrition and exercise. Keep up the great work! I assure you it is helping alot of people such as myself.
My grandmother lived to 92 .She drank and smoked .Typical Mexican diet eggs and bacon and tortillas lots of homemade Salas . Not a heavy drinker or smoker very active very thin .Died in her sleep . Not a junk food eater .
Totally. I know a guy who won the lottery, so I figured he's on to something, and I sold all I own including my house and bought lottery tickets for the next draw!
I hear anecdotes like this all the time. What they always fail to mention is the quality of life of the person who lived to 92. Severe arthritis. Osteoporosis. Trouble wiping. Labored breathing. Long days sitting in chairs watching TV. All my grandparents lived into their 90's as well, and their QOL was absolutely miserable. The goal here is to hopefully avoid that end. Also, the food that our grandparents ate is not the same food we eat today. There's been a massive bait and switch going in the food industry over the last 40 years.
“ The Peak 8 Workout The Peak 8 is simple in its structure. It is 20 minutes long and includes 8 30s max effort intervals (hence the “peak 8.”) So your Peak 8 session will look like this: 3 minute warmup. 30s max effort, 90s recovery (repeat this 8 times)” Stimulates the growth hormones, but sugars cancels it, therefore, avoid carbs 2hours before and after
Dr. Rhonda Patrick's podcast is awesome. A recent one about the best actions to take to increase health and longevity was a good summary of years of research she has been discussing.
This helps me a lot, navigating my own health but also with my Dad being diabetic and seeing the severe muscle and strength loss compared to how he used to be - I've been trying to push more protein, because how else can you try to reverse that other than to eat protein, thing is my Dad is so immobile, I don't know any exercises he could do or have any strength to do, otherwise eating protein without exercise just makes you gain weight; Why is life hard lol. Thanks for all that you do Thomas!
@michaelscarport He has bad peripheral neuropathy in his legs, balance issues - he sits in his chair all day except for the bathroom and bed, "sometimes" he gets out of the house for any given appointment, but he prefers the video call appointment vs having to physically go anywhere; He has the rubber stretchy band kind of things he does off and on, and he also has ankle weights but I don't think he uses those.
But your Dad is still a man, so why not start with some short, light program by Lucy Wyndham-Read? She is a qualified trainer, you can trust. Very slowly by and by you can move up to more demanding programs, add small water bottles or cans of beans to the exercises. For me, a retired lady, Lucy's programs are the best, adding good cheer. She is so cute, kind, knowledgeable Her smile is contagious, and the fact, that she does the exercises together with you is so motivating. Not just telling: do five of these, or ten of those, she does them together with you in the videos. Time flies. (Men have more gain of the muscle-building exercises than women have - biology again!) Suggestion - take this 5 min exercise video and adapt it: ruclips.net/video/JDhnqAPtXzY/видео.html Week one, do each of the movements daily with each 4 reps, next week 6 reps, then 8 reps, etc, until following along full 5 min. So really measured slow progress. The main thing is making it a daily habit. Even just thinking about these moves helps, as thinking activates the nerve connections. As his caring son try to gym along with him, help him move to a chair where he can swing his arms a bit. It want harm you, either, you can add some weights and consider the small program as a warm up. All the best wishes! It warms my heart that you are so considerate, though life is hard, admittedly. You have great ideas about eating well! Hope you'll enjoy training with Lucy and you'll both have a good time!
I'd like to know more about the details of the bananas study. Are these green bananas or extra ripe bananas? I remember their anti-cancer effects are different at various stages of ripeness.
I like him too, I just wish he could find a way to make his videos shorter. That's why I watch Tom more because he has a lot of videos under 10 minutes. Or the long ones like this are packed with many more topics than one of Ekbergs 30min videos.

I've only meet one person in my life this was an issue for. Mammalian protein gave him an autoimmune arthritis. Most humans thrive on mammalian protein.
Personally, I am not really keen on Dr. Gundry. He changes his mind constantly. I think you should be ok eating a varied diet. Eat a bit of each if you feel OK and blood tests are OK but chose a better quality food if you can afford it. There are plenty of foods out there not costing the earth. They might not be the tastiest but are simple, cheaper and fairly safe such as Sardines, Carrots, ginger for tea for detox, etc.
Dr Attia said you can't have all your protein intake in 1 meal, but a study that Thomas covered a few days ago contradicts that claim and said you can have 150 grams of protein in 1 meal. So,which one is true?
I LOVE banana...but realize I already never eat it with other fruit...either in AM with a bite of almond butter or in PM instead of a treat w choc almond butter. I eat my protein powder with berries or apples.
Bpc-157 is dangerous if not used in the right setting, whilst it can't cause tumor/cancerous growth within the body, if you have a pre existing tumor bpc-157 can cause aggressive growth (there is actual data to support this), so this can be a very dangerous/potentially life shortening peptide if you have a cancerous tumor you're not aware of. In terms of recovery (in a non tumor setting) it is an amazing peptide and a great addition to anyones stack that is looking to recover quicker. But it seems every video i see praising the recovery effects of bpc-157 never talks about the dangers of it, I'm not sure if everyone is aware of that fact, but given a large portion of your channel is geared towards longevity, might be something worth discussing for those viewers who don't do their own research.
I am a man at 70yo eat 5 x-large eggs (thanks to many scientists) and 1 small can of sardines (thanks to Dr Bozworth) + according to recent research - supplement of whey concentrate (not the isolate of which some good elements for the brain may have been removed). My daily protein is about 30-40 grams; for carbs I eat fruits [that add some protein] and honey - no rice, no bread, no sugar to maintain a lean healthy body. Excess proteins will be converted to carbs and fats. I do single leg or arm REDUCED EXERTION HIT [REHIT] daily for about 9 minutes for 2 sets with dumbbells [1 set of many reps until exhaustion with dumbbells and body weight interspersed with 2-3 minutes rest; then 1 more set of many reps until exhaustion]. The rest of the 9 minutes is for warm-up and cool down. I do not need much protein, because I maintain lean muscle mass for longer life. More heavy weights will need much proteins that cannot be digested by older persons. Those who exercise less, metabolize protein less - and need less protein. Older persons [more than 40 yo] need only enough protein to maintain lean muscles for longer lifestyle. Refer to Dr. Longo, Dr. Rosdale and Rimon. According to several other MDs, higher protein intake would require a person to lift heavier weights, which stresses the internal organs - heart, liver, kidneys, joints ETC.
Regarding Dr. Saladino, It’s been a while since my anthropology class but I don’t believe monkeys are our closest relatives as primates, chimpanzees and bonobos are more closely related to us. Details matter and I’m fairly certain that statement is blatantly false though he may have misspoke.
One of your best videos of all time. I think the last year there’s been some amazing science and people like you sharing there research. It’s quite amazing.
Practically, no one falls then breaks their hip. Instead, a person’s hip breaks first causing them to fall. You should recommend supplementing diet with vitamin K2-MK4, which facilitates healthy bones & teeth. Vitamin D important too. Best natural sources are Australian Emu oil (K2-MK4) & Cod Liver oil (Vitamin D).
This episode misspoke Dr. Attia's stance on longevity. Delauer made it appear that Dr. Attia professed Zone 2 and VO2 Max as the key factors to longevity and did not prioritize strength training. Whereas if you listen to Dr. Attia, whether on the many podcasts or in his book, he prioritizes what he calls the "four pillars," Zone 2, VO2 Max, Strength Training, and Stability. He takes a holistic approach and discusses that even with limited time, one must still incorporate all four pillars. DeLauer used a clip with Dr. Gabrielle Lyon who referenced "literature" citing strength training doesn't matter. However, that is not Dr. Attia's stance whatsoever. The reason Dr. Attia professes the four pillars is that you need cardiovascular strength, and stability to sustain good health. You can do all the strength training in the world but a lack of stability can halt all your efforts with a fall.
I hope Thomas is becoming more aware of how many of us older folk are also tuning in to his channel. My grandson is becoming quite the body builder. I am the one who turned him on to Thomas. Me? I’ve lost 125 pounds since I found Thomas, and his friends and colleagues. Thank you Thomas!
Yea, in Monaco they can eat olive oil in Hektoliter (or drink). Look what Google have to say about them: ,,Monaco is considered the world's richest country due to its lack of income tax, high concentration of millionaires, expensive real estate, and appeal to the ultra-wealthy."😮
A recent study disproves Dr. Attias' notion that you must break up eating protein for proper absorption. It showed that, like all other carnivores, we can feed a ton at once and will steadily utilize all of it over time. So OMAD is still just fine, given you do the gram per lb of ideal weight. A 1lb ribeye has 110 grams, and I'm best around 220 lbs, so I eat 2 lbs a day, usually in one sitting.
@RedfishCarolina all I can advise is don't let perfection get in your way. I often break up the last of that meal to an hour or 2 later. Meat is the way!
14:23 My body and mind always seemed to avoid bananas.. even my prized green bananas seemed inferior as I ate them with other high polyphenol foods... now I know why. The banana seems to bury the zing of other healthy foods
I disagree about the Alcohol , Small amount of Whiskey helps thin your blood and relax the brain, a little bit of wine helps your tummy , in large amounts I agree

@@andrewnorris5415 most channels dont respond to comments, let alone get through all of them
@@roripantsu My point was about him ignoring the leading specialist longevity researchers who are qualified and have studied it all their lives like Longo.

If you want to preserve muscle and strength, animal protein and plenty of it are best. However plant protein is better for cardiovascular health. Dr Peter Attia is not just a GP. GPs also vary greatly in knowledge and expertise. Respect
Thomas is merely a foolish influencer.
The key takeaways from Thomas DeLauer's discussion with 11 longevity scientists are:

Definitely, but I’d be surprised if the vitamin D levels didn’t play a factor
Great point
Effective.
Can you say more about what specifically helped you?
No doubt because you could not afford to drive your truck with Joe Biden in charge so you sold your truck bought some food and a bike
Keep it cheap and simple.
What? Eggs cooked in lime? Are you boiling, frying? What?
I increased my protein intake to double. I am as sharp as a knife. I went back to work part time. And in March I am taking web coding pages, and TESL. Oh I am 74 years old.
YAY That’s awesome!
Congrats 👏🏻
I looked at your channel. Are you still doing keto? How are your blood lipid levels?
I mix coffee with raw egg every morning. And raw egg with the lunch or dinner also. I also do some small exercises. I'm 65 and still healthy.
@@sootuckchoong7077 what country do you live in? Asking because I am wondering about food safety.
Don't forget that Monaco is also the richest country in the world with no homelessness and certainly very good health care for its inhabitants.
I assume this video was for Americans that have never heard of Monaco. In Europe, you'd be laughed at for comparing Monaco to almost any country.
Being rich means you're smart enough not to be easily medically neglected and you often have enough self control to make decent health choices.
@@toomanymarys7355If only that were true… do you know how many rich people make awful health choices?
This is like the answer key to the test! Thanks for your hard work. Danny
The main reason Monaco's residents live so long is the average person there is rich. Money buys top health care and the quality food to support good health.

Motivation means nothing. You are what you eat and think all day long. You are your habits. Let's go
Yup I literally just ran an experiment where I went from completely clean eating meat and eggs to adding just 1000 cal of processed snack foods, and one fast food meal every 2-3 days.
Shut up
Lol no
So you are motivated or else you wouldn't follow your habits.

@blobmonster9494 Food wise, I would be, but when the bombs drop, it's not fun.

Dr. Lyon and your community are on to the answer. Thankful for you and all the research and work she and people like you have put in.

How about starting with in-chair-mobility first b4 adding any kind of weights. There are chair-based exercise programs out there🙏
Please go to Bob and Brad’s Physical Therapy channel. They have tons of exercise/rehab stuff aimed at older folks. Best of luck to you and your Dad.
Time flies. (Men have more gain of the muscle-building exercises than women have - biology again!)
Suggestion - take this 5 min exercise video and adapt it: ruclips.net/video/JDhnqAPtXzY/видео.html Week one, do each of the movements daily with each 4 reps, next week 6 reps, then 8 reps, etc, until following along full 5 min.

What is your take on Dr. Gundry and NEU5GC ? Should most beef, mutton, pork and milk be avoided ?

I don’t believe he was referring to closest relative but closest dietary needs.
One of your best videos of all time. I think the last year there’s been some amazing science and people like you sharing there research. It’s quite amazing.
Tom im your big fan 🙏🥰 from India. Thank u for all u do.
How about the fact that in Monte Carlo you have the richest people in the world that can allow the best medical treatment.
Thank you for slowing down your speech in your presentations! ❤
Good job Thomas. Thank you!
Your compilation of all these topic experts was wonderful
Outstanding, sir! 🔥👍
(5:07) Any doctor who wears a Def Leppard t-shirt automatically gains credibility in my eyes 😉

This is a superb video! Gets straight to the points.👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Thank you Thomas, you always provide excellent information ... and the way you deliver it is equally excellent!! You're the sweetest!!excellent
I shared this video with my parents and friends in their 70s and a few are going to ramp up their cardio, strength training, and protein
What about Dr Nash winter ? Metabolic Approach to Cancer ... protein to sugar?? Diabetes? Pcos?
Yea, in Monaco they can eat olive oil in Hektoliter (or drink). Look what Google have to say about them: ,,Monaco is considered the world's richest country due to its lack of income tax, high concentration of millionaires, expensive real estate, and appeal to the ultra-wealthy."😮
Thank you Thomas
Lmnt is great! I love it! I take it everyday before the gym!
Great overview of all those fantastic videos Thanks Thomas👍
Great video! I love this kind of just the high points videos.
While I agree with you and frequent do OMAD, it's really hard to get 180+ grams of protien in one meal, consistently.
This is so good. So much information. ❤
