  • In the episode of Ask a Mechanic, we cover a recent re-build to the "perfect mobile toolbox".
Our original video can be found here: • Ask A Mechanic: The Pe...
We partnered with Lasertooling.ca to get some custom ultra precise foam layers cut and made some key changes to the toolbox to allow for the maximum amount of storage for spare parts, and one-off tools for specific events.
Hope you enjoy. Drop any questions in the comments.

Is there a way to contact the guy who made those arms for you? Tried searching around and couldn’t find anything… dying to get my hands on some of those

What do you use to attach the foam to aluminium backplate? how are the straps attached? Very nice setup, the laser cutouts look so much cleaner!

I have the same exact question. What do you say?

@@johnhouston8297 at the 2:00 mark looks like the strap is folded inward and then riveted. Maybe that is enough to keep the backplate aligned to foam.

sorry for the late reply, the straps are riveted to the backplate which is glued to the foam!

I see a lot of videos where bike mechanics are showing off their knipex pliers. What are you using those pliers for on a bike?
I'm not trying to be a contrarian. I truly want to know.

Honestly anything you would use a box-wrench or spanner wrench for. Common places are compression hose nuts for brakes, hubs endcaps/nuts, we use the large one for a variety of bottom bracket tools as well as in a pinch they work well for fork top caps etc.

@@artscyclery875 that makes sense for the pliers wrench… but what about the “alligator” pliers and needle nose? The alligators will really tear up anything they grab.

@@holdentrout7193 if you grab a steel nut on the flats they don't do much damage. Or if you need to remove something stripped they come in handy. Another practical use case would be removing a brake olive that's stuck, something you'll likely not reuse and the teeth on the pliers make jobs like this much easier.

the lid organizer attaches via factory screw holes and the mesh bags fit perfectly in the lid organizer pockets.

We sell many of the tools but we don't sell the case..Laser Tooling Solutions is the company we used to get the custom layers and I would strongly recommend them as the quality is top notch.
