I realized that some of my favorite bands rely heavily on the Blues Driver for their dirt sounds, so I thought about getting one too since I really dig their sound. But then that sent me down a rabbit hole of modified/evolved Blues Drivers, and that brought me to this. Super helpful demo and review, thanks! I think I'm gonna save up for one of these now. BTW I've just watched a few of your videos and one of them mentioned you being in SD, and I'm up in Escondido, so hey neighbor!
Loved the jam at the end. Not sure how I missed this the first time around, but I was on a trek for JB-2 videos this week (I've just bought one) and this appeared. I always appreciate your pedal demos Ryan, I think you nail the brief every time.
Thanks! Great pedal, and great demo! Answered my questions and now it's on my list. I appreciate your demos, and don't know why people hate on you. Keep up the good work!
My favorite video on the angry driver, thank you Ryan. You can use a regular fender reverb foot switch to change between the modes on the angry driver.
I saw the surf green Squier Mustang in the Guitar Center Black Friday ad. The locations near me apparently have them in stock for $119 for Black Friday. I am gonna try to check them out!
just seven knobs and the truth but seriously i have one of these and it's great; i use it for very low-gain sounds. i'll use the parallel mode and set one basically clean and the other at about a quarter gain for a clean blend similar to the blessed mother.
This seems like a flexible pedal for a guy like me with a mid scooped (silver face champ) and mid heavy (pro junior) amp. Is there one type of amp that you think it works best with?
yup, I picked the mustang for this demo because the pickups have a nice middle of the road sort of sound. It's easy to get a little squirly with string bends and digging in too hard because the shorter scale make the strings looser. But man, its a fun guitar.
I know right? the cheapest I’ve seen them is $160 used. its super steep but I’m tempted anyway, I played one once at a pedal demo and I thought it was really great, and I’ve heard nothing but good things about them. never really considered them until now because the price scared me off. I’ve been having a hard time finding the right overdrive/distortion pedal for me but all signs seem to point to this!
Are you factoring in the line selector you need to run parallel pedals? I just got one of these (angry driver) for £125. Absolute bargain. Second hand... Blues driver £90 Angry Charlie £120 Boss line selector £80 4 decent patch leads £30 (new) I just got £320 of stuff (conservative estimate) for £125
Brah. Cool demo. Your guitar tone sounds as rich and raw as your skin tone. 😛 You surfin’ much out there? Also, what amp are you going into? Totally clean?
the angry charlie has more tonal options as a stand alone but the blues driver sounds dead on to me, I have a keeley modded blues driver here though, maybe ill do a comparison .

Wait, people hate on me? where? when? ;-)

8:52 Good god... this man just "won" overdrive/distortion forever.
I have the pedal, it’s great. I have beside it the Boss super overdrive, so 3 gain stages. In that as input to the Tonex pedal. Love it
I can’t believe how great Blues Drivers are. I put it against any boutique overdrive, and I love boutique OD’s.

If i didn't already have mine id be buying the surf green one. I'm planning on stripping the paint off mine soon.
I look forward to seeing that video. Your videos are great! I really enjoy your channel.
That parallel mode is the cat's meow.
it really is, i want a pedal that just lets me mix any two pedals in parallel now.
60 Cycle Hum exactly. Boss LS-2 and EHX Switchblade Pro for instance
I love that guitar
For me this is the only overdrive pedal you‘ll ever need in your life…
That's a guitar pedal. Here's the important question, are those seahorses on your shirt?
just seven knobs and the truth

What's that blue guitar behind him?! It's gorgeous
Thank you! But I meant the other one, the offset green guitar
8:47 there it is
damn you really had to pick the shittiest guitar for this video lmao

Wow that sounds amazing. Is the mustang stock?

I would love to pick one up in the surf green but I was worried the pickups were too hot
they aren't super hot, like i said, middle of the road. Mello when you need it and an aggressive edge when you need it.
You are starting to look like Yukon Cornelius
He's starting to look like me!
I would add some reverb
Presumably he didn't bother with reverb SO THAT WE COULD HEAR THE PEDAL HE'S DEMONSTRATING, FFS!
Nice pedal and I know you are getting 2 pedals....but 200 bucks?

If you have blues driver and angry charlie can you sell them both now? Or is it better to have both full pedals?

60 Cycle Hum Cool. Thanks for the reply
There is only one number
Spoons and Guitars ?
Man, this is beyond awful. Sidebar: how'd you get Kauer to make that Titan in your skintone?
I work hard to keep my skin tone the same as the Titan, twice a week I lay outside naked with a paint swatch on my thigh until my sunburn matches it.
Wow this sounds bad with that guitar(s)/amp/playstyle. Still a great pedal though!
