Rush definitely likes to change time signatures often and they do it so smoothly the listener doesn’t always notice it. Phenomenal performance by a phenomenal band!
One of my favorite songs studio or live....just a fantastic composition...unbelievable LIVE.....crazy talent and crazy lyrics!
Kiddo… get thee to a rock and roll show. I know they’re expensive, but you have to experience going to church. It almost doesn’t matter who or where. Between the lights, the sound and the energy trade that happens between band and audience… it’s an indescribable experience. As a fan of music, you owe it to yourself.
It truly is a shame you never got to see the guys perform first hand. I was lucky enough to see them six times, and frankly no one could touch them. I’m glad that there are many good videos of them performing that you can see, as you already know… but of course it’s not the same.
Another great reaction, as was Between the Wheels earlier. Hell of a song, eh? Looking forward to your Clockwork Angels vid. You’re gonna need to change your underwear… the boys went out big. 😂
THAT is the most RUSH song EVER! That harmonic/pentonic/electronic whatever you want to call it solo is so impossibly impressively perfectly written arranged and executed WTF are those dudes on?🤷♂️😈🤯🤘🖖✌️🎸🎸🥁🎤🎹
Wave after wave will flow with the tide
And bury the world as it does..
Tide after tide will flow and recede
Leaving life to go on as it was.
.perfect.
You're welcome ....RUSH and Prog Rock at its finest❤🇨🇦 and thank you!
I saw the Snakes and Arrows tour in KCMO... Chicago... and St. Louis. In 2007 and then the encore tour in KCMO in June 2008. I love this band.. I consider these men family. When they were on stage ALL SEEMED RIGHT WITH THE WORLD...☺️♥️
Great reaction. I think their 1997 live version was even better but this is a very close 2nd. Their skill level was unprecedented.
I saw them on this tour on July 4th 2007 (2 days before my 15th birthday) at Darien Lake Performing Arts Center in Darien, NY. It was my 2nd time seeing them.
I bet you'd LOVE ONE LITTLE VICTORY live in Rio❤🇨🇦
Brilliant performance of an fantastic song which they wrote in two days!🤯🤯🤯
Please also react to Dinner with Rush. You will see how goofy abd down to earth these guys are.
Cheers
I am so glad that I listened to the audiobook of Clockwork Angels. It gave me a much better appreciation for the Clockwork Angels album. Plus it's not a bad story.
Hit that thumbs up people what the hell is wrong with your finger this man works hard for us to provide great content if you watch you you push 👍
Electric Wizard-Master of Alchemy.
The RUSH rabbit hole....WOOOOT
Enjoy the ride.
Masterpiece!!
You know what? I actually recommended Natural Science to you one year ago, in a comment to your Spirit of Radio reaction.
But since I recommended the 1997 live version, I guess I don't know who I actually am.
; )
From Clock Work Angels do the Garden live very emotional, Neil wrote this song after losing a daughter to a car crash then Shortly after his wife from Cancer , The Garden live Clock Work Angel’s
So glad your going to do Clockwork angels album it's a fantastic story. Good vs evel ,anarchy vs conformity. It's a story of living. And it's a story of all our lives.
🤯 How did I not know about Rush Week! 🤩 Let's Go! 🥰🐰
This is one of my favorite songs they did in a live performance context. (Another great version of this is from 1997 at the Molson Ampitheatre, where it's performed at a slightly faster tempo). My favorite part is probably the jam session near the end (where you can hear the audience singing along with the instrumental). :)
This track could just be the "best" RUSH song ever! 🏆
RushON4Ever ! Rushaholic since 75`
The Garden is a must
There is no turning back!
Start at the beginning. It’s quite a ride.
You've GOT to listen to Headlong Flight. It's off of their last release and it is an absolute BANGER!!
Natural Science is my favorite song Rush did live. Great choice. I saw Rush live 5 times. I've been a Rush fan since July 1978.
Hi Dame, can I recommend to you a compilation song called Best intro ever, you will love it. Thanks again bud.
You should check out Fountain of Lamneth ". Thanks for reacting to Rush. They recorded and toured for 40 years because of the love of performing live !!
Love your channel. Loved rush for over 40 yrs.
If you get a chance, check out the studio version. It has an an additional verse and an extra guitar solo.
Such a complex song that they make look so easy!
Natural Science is from the album: Permanent Waves! You should check this album out!
This is a banger🔥the lyrics are amazing!
Yeah I think he needs to do a deep dive on the lyrics and what this story is about 😊
Let’s Go!
Try The Camera Eye from Moving Pictures. To me, it's a real masterpiece. The production, the concept, and the performance. About as perfect as you can get.
And Geddy's vocalization is at its finest
You'll never get music-making like this fiddling around with software. Forged in the fires of the club and road-tour life, writing new records as you went.
Perfect
I figured out a way to (attempt to) describe Niel’s drumming. You think you know where he’s taking you, and just when you think you figured it out, he takes you somewhere else completely.
If you look just before the drum part. Neil steps back into the kit. Lol. Pee break. 😅
If you haven't reacted to Xanadu from Exit Stage Left please do
Great reaction, if you like the time changes, check out Cygnus X-1 Book 1 and Cygnus X-1 Book 1 Hemispheres! I look forward to it!
Huge Rush fan here. I agree with you, it's the "old" hip-hop stuff that is good. Public Enemy No1, Wu-Tang, etc. I'm not so much a fan of the new stuff. :D
Haha, more like late '70's/early 80's.
If you want to hear music of the same quality of the "latter years" - have a listen to "Steven Wilson - Luminol"
You like time signature changes The Camera Eye has more than its fair share. 😊
If you’re going to focus on Clockwork Angels, trust me, you need to cover Headlong Flight studio version
Not sure how you decided on Clockwork Angels to delve into next, but all that matters is your going to do it, and by doing so, you will be tremendously proud of their balls- to- the-wall approach to their Swan Song masterpiece,IMO! It's a cryin shame that most Rush reactors are ignoring it! Thanks!
What is the song about and why are people ignoring it ?
@@dame313 Clockwork Angels, the album, is a concept album and definitely ment to be heard in chronological order. It is critically acclaimed even though Rush never paid any attention to Critics as you know by now, but it did debut at #2 on Billboard 200! What a way to end this final chapter in their 40 year career!!Because of it being Conceptual, I would rather not give away the story so you can enjoy hearing Neil's storytelling for one last time. The self titled song and album are one of my favorite Rush songs/album.
You asked why people have ignored this album, but the answer is complicated. True Rush fans were always chomping at the bit, so to speak, for new material just like you count down the days until your favorite hip-hop/rap artist drops something new. This was true especially because Rush didn't drop albums as frequently starting in the 90s as they did in first 15 yrs of career. Stuck in Nostalgia for our youth when most of us first discovered Rush might be another reason. Lastly, I'm guessing that fans didn't want to take a chance that their new stuff might not be up to par from what they were used to, but this is Rush we're talking about so it's kind of a head scratcher for me.
I want to thank you for dedicating so much of your Reaction time to Rush. You're learning that there is way more to music than being able to keep the same beat for 3 minutes. I witnessed your struggle at first, then you opened your mind and look where you are at now...Rush Week! Bravo Damon!
rush freewill
If this is a first reaction to this song you should have done the studio version first. They delete the second guitar solo live for whatever reason. A notable exception to that rule of thumb would be the live Exit Stage Left version of Xanadu.
I'd do their first album over Clockwork Angel's.
Freewill live 1981

These are the 3 i referred to in your previous reaction to Between the Wheels which is from the Grace Under Pressure album. This "Fear Trilogy" was performed on their Grace Under Pressure tour in 1884. I know you just reacted to Witch Hunt but here they perform it live.
Yep, yep, yep. Nobody, no one, can do what Rush does. Their creativity and vision, talent and skill, it's just unparalleled. Not to disparage other bands...but Rush is unique.
