    No one seems to consider how zombies would not have enough jaw strength to pierce the skin and muscles of humans to eat them if their own muscles are rotting away. Over time their jaws would weaken and they would not be able to close their mouths.

    • @jaycemcqueen306
      @jaycemcqueen306 4 месяца назад +855

      There aren’t any rules for zombies besides whatever universe or writer makes them. If they write that the jaws are strong enough, that’s how it is. ZOMBIES DONT EXIST. So we don’t know HOW they would act or decompose

    • @thegodofclowns7494
      @thegodofclowns7494 2 месяца назад

      @@The_Ninja_Treein the zombie survival guide by max brooks, his version of zombies can take several years to die from decomposition due to all organisms, even nearly all bacteria and microbes having an instinctual aversion and avoidance of the virus that causes zombies and the tissue infected with it.
      Their decomposition is slowed even more when they freeze every winter.
      Meaning a zombie could reinfect a previously believed to be clear area decades after when someone steps into a pond and cuts their foot on a zombies jaw.
      It's also important to note that living humans actually have a limiter on how much of their strength they can use except in high stress, adrenaline situations, since in normal situations it could only hurt you.
      Even someone with very little muscle could theoretically generate a lot of force with it.
      In some works of fiction zombies very evidently have this limiter removed, (sometimes having more strength than should be theoretically possible) plus they never get tired, they will do the same action at the same strength and force, until that muscle disintegrates.
      Decomposition would still inevitably incapacitate and kill all zombies, but it'd take longer than you'd think.

    Rain is usually the best time to move, especially for the sound-sensitive zombies. It’s hazy, the rain mutes out noises, the rain will clean zombie dirt off surfaces. It’s the ideal time to move. But they always think the best time to move is at night when it’s essentially the worst. It’s quiet, so any noise can startle a zombie you can’t see because of the lack of light

    • @uncharted1353

      Also sound carries further at night because of how still it is which means lower ambient noise, and cooler air is more dense which carries sound better and bends the waves back towards the ground which amplifies them. Sure you might be harder to see (especially if you're avoiding hostile humans since we rely heavily on sight), but if you move through underbrush, step on a twig, etc, it's going to carry a lot further than in the day

      Look at how fast covid spread before anyone even knew what it was. In nearly every zombie virus story, the virus doesn't immediately kill the host, it makes them sick for a period of time before they die. Most likely, Patient Zero would have plenty of time to spread the virus into the population before dying and reanimating, which means by the time the zombie virus is even isolated and identified, millions of people could be infected and be potential zombies when they die.

Send some sheep or goats out and it'll be short in no time. No need to send out folks with scythes just to keep grass short. I'd say the lack of hiding spots in short grass was just an added benefit of feeding your cattle. Trees near the town were often cut because of defence though. The manicured lawns were more recent, indeed when defence became less important and the wealthy showed off their riches as decorative gardens.

    The actual stages of decomposition after death. After a few hours, the zombies would stiffen up and fall to the ground. Once that happens, the zombies wouldn’t realistically be able to infect anyone, unless someone has a cut and rubs zombie remains on it. After a few more hours, rigor mortis would go away, at which point their muscles would begin to soften up again. 1-3 days after death, their internal organs would completely decompose, and after a few more days they would start to bloat up. Afterwards, they would just start to liquefy.
    What you’d really have to look out for are zombie flies or other insects, which would eat away at the zombies and infect others. So essentially, what you’d really need for a zombie apocalypse is a safe place to wait out a few days or weeks in, a tolerance for gore, and a beekeeping suit. Then you’d move to an isolated place and live out the rest of your life. The world would probably be livable again in a few years, maybe a decade or two at worst.

    I gave zombies a purpose for eating flesh, I've played many videogames and watched many movies but none of them even bothered to explain why do zombies eat the living while they don't need to do it, they're already dead they don't need food
    In my book, consuming flesh causes some kind of mutation. The mutation makes them more intelligent, increases their physical strength, makes them move faster and has a small chance to give them special abilities
    Edit: My zombies grow sharp bones from the tip of the fingers, they use their claws to rip the victim's flesh.This concept is not really mine an Irish writer called Darren Shan has already used it in his book series called ZomB but there are differences.
    1: Similar to Wolverine in Marvel comics, my zombies can hide their claws in their hands when there's nothing to eat and pull them out once it's time to eat
    2: Unlike Darren Shan's zombies, my version of zombies don't have bones on the tip of their toes, it's only their fingers
    3: The claws of my zombies is not strong enough to Pierce through woods or bricks

      I mean, do you really need a explanation? There is 2 very simple and logical reasons why they eat, nr.1 just because they are dead does not mean they dont require a energy source (obviously if we are talking about "zombies" that are literally skeletons it would not make sense) but also most zombies in main stream movies are not even dead, at worst slightly brain dead, so they eat what they see to get energy.
      Second reason, it could be a side effect of the virus, the virus makes them bite people to spread the virus...now there might be no moment where the virus tells them to move on to the next victim right away so they keep biting (and it might trigger the reflexes to eat what they are biting)
      Now like I said, I only know main stream zombie movies.
      (WWz, 28days/weeks/trainToBusan,RE,TWD etc.) and in all those movies, the zombies dont even eat the people, they only bite one until that person turns.....maybe in some they eat people, dont remember...but it would makes sense since I only remember watching movies with "human-like" zombies and those still mostly follow the rules that humans follow too, so they need energy, in some movies they also eat animals if I remember correctly

      @@jaylee9552 Well according to almost every case of a viral disease, either bacterial or a virus, or even a fungal disease that causes neurological interference, we have never had something like that happen. Albeit things like rabies can effect humans in similar ways but not in the same way it effects a dog. A man with rabies cannot consciously drink water as rabies is I believe centralized in the mouth. They did studies on this including forcefully putting water in his mouth and his body itself rejected it.
      So a zombie disease may affect animals, but likely not to the same degree that it effects humanity. We may see something akin to wasting disease in animals as that is the closest we have to an animal zombie virus. Cordyceps being the most popular. But in reality a fungus like that would force the host to find a damp wet place to die in. Attacking others to ‘spread’ the fungus is not efficient or something a fungus would do naturally. Efficiency wise, it makes more sense to send a host to a place to die to spread their fungus in ideal conditions.

    I once read someone describe their idea that going to higher altitudes, like hills and mountains, would be generally better, as it forces the zombies to walk uphill. This would cause them to degrade their leg muscles faster, so while running uphill would be a bad situation, once you are significantly higher than the majority of them, it should make it less likely to run into them in general. Depends on the version we're going with, but sounded pretty plausible if it's simply a virus that animated dead flesh, as the physical components would be stressed harder

    I suppose it depends on the type of zombie you're dealing with. But, lets just say it's like the ones from The Walking Dead or something. Basically, they're just dead bodies with the ability to walk. Since their bodies technically don't have ANY sort of proper function like a living person, such as, heart beat, blood flow, brain function, etc, etc, they would literally just turn into a puddle of goopy rot within a few months. (Depending on what season were in of course)
    Also, there were times in TWD where i would see zombies with entire chunks of flesh taken out of their arms, and the bone would be exposed and everything, and were able to grab onto a person, or rip them apart. Now, I'm no doctor, but i do believe you need to have a good amount of muscle, nerves, tendons, and other bodily parts and functions, to be able to grab, and hold onto something. You can't sit there and tell me that a rotten, reanimated corpse, with an entire chunk of muscle and such taken out of it's arm, has the strength to grab, and hold onto a living human. Naww, that's wack.
    Yeah, basically, just give the zombies a few months to rot away, and humans will be back to living their normal lives.

    Everyone talks about having a bunker or hauling up at home. What if you were at the grocery store? What if your car broke down THE DAY BEFORE the outbreak happens? what if you used a majority of the food at home and then immediately had to start living off canned goods? What if you forgot to pay the water bill and couldnt bottle any while there was still some leftover in the tap? What if you had a shovel but it broke?
    People always talk about being prepared but if its anything like the movies, then it just STARTS and you wouldnt really be able to pre-emptively plan for it. Even with the bunker idea you'd basically never be allowed to leave it/ or leave your home otherwise the outbreak could happen when you werent there.

    Some people may think/say that they could keep their pet alive, but think about it. Could you? The dog that barks every time a leaf touches the side walk? You could keep that animal alive?
    Another thing, people ALWAYS overestimate their survival prowess. Everyone thinks that they would be the hero, the last person alive on Earth. Well guess what, you’re not, and you wouldn’t. Don’t try telling me that the teenager who always stays inside playing video games, the overweight person who thinks that they’re healthy, the people with mental disabilities, the people who need medications in order to stay alive, etc, don’t tell me those people are going to live for long…. So thinking that the bodies will be exposed to absolutely everything, they would desintegrate even faster. Well, the zombie movies do consider the downsides of ballistic guns (Guns make a loud noise attracting ever more zombies, and sourcing bullets is too difficult when manufacturing and distribution infrastructure shut down) They seem to gravitate too much to melee weapons as their answer, not enough of them seem to consider how archery whether it is long bow, or cross bow, gives you more or less the same range as guns, enabling survivors to take to the rooftops and sniper shoot the hoards of the undead all the same, all well being perfectly silent, and as long as the survivors do get opportunities to retrieve the used arrows/bolts, those arrows/bolts are easily reusable, well producing archery arrows/bolts on your own is significantly easier then producing bullets, making sourcing ammunition easier.

      I bow hunt, archery isn't something you just pick up and get good with in a short period of time especially trying to hit moving targets it takes months to years most people firing bows without a guard for the first time will flay their forearm and wrists. Crossbow is easier but it has a much longer reload than a compound bow and they aren't that common.

    I do think northern Scandinavia or somewhere in eastern siberia might be the best places to survive an apocalypse since they are sparsly populated and full of game fresh water mountain streams and cold springs plus completely covered in trees and shruberries so forraging for berries and mushrooms and stuff will be quite easy to get aswell. The only major downside is winter BUT i think if you manage to find a log cabin with some firestove you should be alright.

    • @kingboss1279
      @kingboss1279 4 месяца назад

      @user-cx7kg6ok9b Luckily i know all of that since i live in a rural area of northern Sweden so i got experience in all way shapes and forms of hunting and forragining in my local eco system. So i know which shrooms are poisionous and which are fine too eat, i know which berries are fine too eat, got alot of experience fishing with net and rods. Also got experience of hunting/drying meats the question about getting enough salt too dry the meat is though but probably solveable. we also happen to have a cabin in the woods with a cold cellar or whatever its called in english. Its about 250 km from where i live so it will take a while to get there definantly but with a bike and or car (since its sparsley populated you would most likely be fine getting away with) shouldnt be too much trouble.

    • @suchlou2297
      @suchlou2297 Месяц назад +1

      @user-cx7kg6ok9b i love your "how are you going to get there"
      now i know I'm not OP but it's really rather simple for about 50 million of us. step one: wake up. done! you're here! wahoo!
      Finding a "log cabin with some firestove" shouldn't be too hard, either. There's about a million and a half (actual statistics) of households in Norway alone that have fireplaces/places to burn wood in their house, and that's not counting cabins (of which there are about half a million in Norway alone), many (if not most) of which are in the mountains. Sure, you'd need to get to the mountains, but there's plenty people who live there already.
      If you already live in a cold place like this (like most of the people surviving in places like this) you'll be better equipped at dealing with it simply from exposure. We know how to dress, to ski, to traverse snow and cold - we learn to dig snow shelters in school - I've personally had courses on edible plants (and how to FIND edible plants!) interspersed with other education from as early as first grade. I'm by no means a wilderness expert and would probably die within a week (disabled! yay!), but there are plenty of people who would be able to get by long enough, I think.
      I think it's also important to remember, when we're sitting here discussing things like these and planning out what we would do, we're trying to find ways to make things work. It's a puzzle, a game, a way to put knowledge to the test. I, for one, enjoy thinking of all the ways A person (not 'me' person, or 'any' person, or 'every' person) could survive, should they have the right tools and knowledge. I'm also a fan of survival stories as a storytelling tool - it's a very literal way of learning to work with a character's knowledge :)

      A "realistic" zombie apocalypse would be 28days/weeks zombies, they are still alive, they are still "humans" they are simply infected with a virus (Rage-virus).

    Waste-disposal systems. Once they begin to fail, you are doomed, if you live in a city, or almost any concentration of humans.......
    Also, proper waste disposal and correct placement and managament of "toillet"-areas is usally not considerated in almost any show or book adressing the topic of an apocalypse.
    Yeah! Shelter, heat, water, food and security are esential, but will be of no use if yourself contaminate your water-source or your partymembers by not managing in an adecuate way your depositions (we have gotten used to see them disapear just by fushing the toilet and have NO idea of how much even a small group can generate with enough time).
    Also the smell can atract predators (zombies/animals/humans), if not correctly managed.....
    Finally, the idea of just going casually alone to a isolated place, to do your "buisnness", putting yourself in risk is simply ridiculous. Encamped survivors would probably use buckets or similar, in some tent or cabinet in the same camp, and dispose of the resulting waste several times a day, in company of an armed group........

    best case scenario: zombies don't have any water logistics to rely on, quickly chopping down their population and ending the issue within a week
    mid case scenario: zombies would decompose. unless the virus somehow hijacks the immune system, all zombies would be super prone to decomposition, it'd come to a point where their bits and pieces just fall off and they die randomly, this would probably happen within 3 months. this is supported by the fact that all zombie illustrations are always already half decomposed.
    worst case scenario: they run out of food. assuming they know how to eat, their primary food source would be other zombies. eating their own would just cut their numbers down. which would be a steady process of months

You can't jog a mile, but when zombies are after you, you think you can run 5 miles easy. But the reality is your ability drops hard when it counts. Most people wouldn't be able to add 2 plus 2 together when their child's life is on the line. Animal brain takes over, you freeze up or scatter into a random direction. When something heavy drops onto your 5 year old and they are pinned down the parent would run head first into a wall 10 feet away and knock themself out.

      You watch way too many kids cartoons if you think that's how people actually behave in life or death situations. No, people are not going to run head-first into a wall and knock themselves out. Sure there are situations of extremely, exponentially stupid people doing stupid things while stressed and hurting themselves as a result, but that is a rare case and most definitely not the majority. "Scattering in a random direction" is not even an instinct that animals have except for maybe spiders, which most people are not spiders (and spiders only run in random directions because they can't see well). You'll never find an animal running in a random direction when frightened. Just like other animals, humans will run, fight, make threats, etc, toward a threat, and will experience an increase in adrenaline which makes them significantly stronger and able to act quicker. This applies to any emergency situation. Freezing up is a response that some people have, but they grow out of it after exposure to multiple threats over time. And freezing is done under specific circumstances, otherwise they would behave as normal and run or fight.
