  • Gravel Cycling Acadia National Park's Historic Carriage Roads | Full Cinematic Experience | Bar Harbor, Maine. what gravel cyclist wouldn't want to ride along dramatic, rocky coastline, quaint fishing villages and camp under a night sky where the Milkyway feels like you could reach out and grab it, a bucket list gravel cycling trip, at the tail end of coastal summer in Maine. Many people crown this as the first ever gravel bike network, since there are no cars allowed and it was built in early 1900"s. We packed all our camping gear, stocked the cooler for a week of fireside meals, oh and of course some coffee and swimsuits. The park has resurrected these roads into an incredible gravel cycling adventure throughout Mount Desert Island. As we say in the video, this place needs to be experienced by bike or on foot. The ability to stop wherever you wish to take in a breathtaking view is not possible by vehicle. These are views you can't miss! They weave together a tapestry of woodlands, mountains, lakes, waterfalls, fishing towns and the mesmerizing coastline. Now other than jutting out into the vast azure waters of the Atlantic Ocean, what makes this place truly special is that they've built this gravel bike specific network that spans from the various park campgrounds and branches off to many quaint lobster fishing villages and remarkable coastal scenery. Similar to gravel riding in Ireland or the UK where pro rider Juliet Elliot calls home. It's something out of a dream. When I left this place to return home, I felt a slight sense of sadness, a guttural sense of loss. I realized that's what happens when you have to leave anything that you fall in love with. I felt the spirit of my childhood growing up on the ocean, while being raised by a new England Lobster Fisherman myself and, with my dad no longer alive, the emotional tether was tied tightly to my heart. I really hope you enjoy the second part of this multi episode Maine trip. I'm particularly proud of the editing style and cinematography using just a GoPro camera.
