Carter is now 3A in Texas and went winless this year I think. Most of those families are moving out of that area and moving to Cedar Hill and Desoto who are now powerhouses
There 4A D1 n they are going to Desoto n Lancaster really do a little more research my dude n they dont have to move because both have open school districts n they had losing season they did in fact win but the losing season was because they played with a developing team They lost most of there starting defense n offense to The previous seasons graduation in which a lot of those athletes went to college not just the big names like Cory Avery Cameron Hampton n Jordan Ingram so expect the comeback

Class of 97, and no sorry to disappoint you all but my school was not a bunch of thugs. My mother wouldn't have allowed me to go there. David W. Carter was a school that stayed in the news and NOT for what you think. We excelled in Sports and Academics. Look up the graduating class of 97. The proof is in numbers. CC TOO BAD TOO BOLD!!! Oh and we challenged all stereotypes and raised young girls to not hide in the shadows of men but to STAND tall and firm in their own light. We had the first all black/all women jazz band in Texas that made headlines as well.

+Domini478 i watched the movie and my mom went there , they actually arent in prison , one was served 4 25 years in prison , 4 20 years in prison , 4 13 years , and and i believe 4 16 years in prison , but after 10 years were let out do to some law thing for them that was served...

Would you like to be made out to be someone bad for what someone who went to your high school did, I'm sure not every person that went to your school was a perfect or model citizen.You just taking 2 minutes of the trailer and saying that they're lying or trying to portray it as those guys didn't do anything wrong, watch the whole movie before you make that judgement. I also see nothing wrong with this movie trying to portray this school in a positive light we need more black people being portrayed in a positive light in Hollywood period even when we do good we're seen as "THUGS". This football team in particular was already falsely portrayed negatively in Friday Night Lights because they beat an all white team, given how racist the south was back then there's no way they would have gotten away with cheating period, and some say they were "THUGGISH" because they said some mean things. If anyone thinks that football players usually talk nicely to the opposing team, they never played football and are extremely naive. I went to Carter High's rival school and even I'm not trying this hard to hate.

This was so fun to shoot the movie 2014 summer . I actually go to carter now im in the calicos drill team so you'll see me in the film. I can't wait to see it . it was fun to meet the famous people and I just know this will be a hit . carter is #1 in the district even though we had a rough year but well be unstoppable next year as we were the rest of our years

The 1988 team that beat the "Friday Night Lights" Odessa Permian team in the state semi-finals in Austin. (Not the final in Houston as the movie would have you believe). H.G. Bissinger's book deals with Carter's academic eligibility issue quite a bit actually.
Classic movie...a timeless story...well written...well directed...well filmed...well acted...and its all based on a true story...a must see movie for all...CARTER HIGH!!!

All of them didn’t rob only a few only because they felt like they couldn’t be touched because they were winning at everything in their life
Carter High movie is way better than Friday night lights . I was once convinced that FNL was all that till Carter High came out , I related much more to the Carter culture vs Permian.

Semi finals. In FNL it was portrayed as the State game to add more dramatics to the loss.

I saw the trailer. If I didn't know anything about that school, I would say it's an inspiring, rousing, fight-for-school-team-town, overcome racism movie. Kinda like Remember the Titans? But the real story sure doesn't fit the movie: Ineligible players, grade fixing, and the worst, some of the players committed some serious crimes. Instead of Rocky, it's Goodfellas.

The way the grading system was transitioning to there was somewhat of a confusion from the teachers. So with the student transferring from one class to another it caused even more confusion. The student actually received a passing grade on his report card, but later the UIL received information from an anonymous person that the student did not pass.
Therein lies the problem. It was no fault to the student, the team or the coaches, but the system. Even after the grading controversy, some teachers still calculated the student as passing, but only because DISD stop fighting the case on behalf of Carter High School (after the robberies), did the UIL eventually declared Carter ineligible.

haha i dont know what to believe for carter high. the way they were portrayed in Friday Night Lights as being thuggish assholes or the way this movie is portraying them. not sayin carter high is either or jus sayin that hollywood is always misleading us.
I'm truly glad you noticed the difference. I went to Carter and played on the team during that time and can unequivocally say "Carter High" is a honest portrayal of the school.
williamtitan dont believe anything you saw in the FNL movie 90% of it was a lie they lost to carter in the semi not the state championship, gary gains was an asshole who didnt give a fuck about the black kids besides the fact they could help him win a game just like the coach on varsity blues.race was a huge issue at permian. bobbie miles got hurt b4 the season he never played his senior year, and of course hollywood is going to portray an all black school as dirty thugs who cheap shot and played dirty against the mostly white school which is far from the truth. Even the actual permian plays from that time said in different interveiws the a lot of negative things about permian was left out and the truth was stretched a lot.

Carter was a really good football team that beat the Odessa team in the semi finals and YES it was THAT Odessa team from Friday Night Light's the BOOK but the players were just too hot to handle and later on robberies finally caught up to them and they had to forfeit their state championship they won in 1988 loater on.

so in Friday night lights this high school is known as a bunch of mean big ass roided thug football players , but here they look like such a friendly humble football team , idk what to believe
They played illegible players and some of their players did a couple of armed robberies.
I went to Lincoln High School and we played Carter. I'd say somewhere in the middle. Yes it was a rough school but not as bad as people made it out to be.
The Friday Night Lights portrayal painted them as the stereotypical thug team, that played dirty. And if you actually actually watched the real team play, and listened to the actual players who played on that team in the 30 for 30 doc, it was clear they did not play that way. They didn't kick players who were down or try to injure players.
@@henryjw15 The ineligible player was questionable. He passed, based on the school's grading system. Not to mention, and anonymous call was made about this, a full 6 weeks after the grades were already submitted. BS.
And the armed robberies happened months after they won the title. What they did after the season ended should have no bearing on what that team accomplished on the field.

The game, I'd wish it was portrayed as the muddy hell it was. The controversial catch was clearly not a catch, you see the ball hit the ground and water splash on film. The game should have been played a true neutral site like abilene, would have sold more tickets but the I'm sure carter wanted no part of permian at shotwell. So they movie producers had to muddy up the game since it was played at the astro dome and not at dkr
They deversed to go to prison , they robbed innocent hardworking people who are feeding their families, so what you think's gonna happen, it's their fault, they messed up their lives
