Denim was actually created in France! Denim is a portmanteau for de Nimes (the city where it was created). I think Emily wearing denim would be a GREAT styling choice as it is seen as very American despite having French roots.

I have the feeling they tried to achieve an iconic extravagant designer preppy chic Blair Waldorf in Paris moment. Blair also wore a lot of colour and funky designer pieces but it suited her character and stayed consistent...Emily is just all over the place

Me ha encantado tu repaso a los outfits totalmente de acuerdo. Odié que le pusiesen los guantes de Michael Jackson whyyyyy?? Lo que me sorprende es que no incluyan más jerséis, abrigos, jeans, etc porque en París hace muchísimo frío y se pueden hacer outfits bastante buenos con esas prendas también. Out of the topic pero los franceses no te responden ni hablando un francés medio, no creo que estén el 90% del tiempo de su trabajo hablando inglés 🤣

This is the ONLY good review for Emily in Paris fashion video! A real fashion person that has logic sense and understanding that’s it’s a fantastical show like SITC. It was a very fair opinion 👍👌🏼

I originally tried to watch the show just for a little fashion escape but it really is soooooooooooo dated and feels way too overstyled. Def reminds me of like my 2011 peplum/bright blazer/statement jewelry days of shopping at Forever 21 😂. Also all the coordination (like matching neon yellow beret to neon yellow gloves to neon yellow jacket) is just toooo much. I get what they’re doing, trying to sell us the fantasy, but I feel like they need a fashion editor on staff to dial the looks back a bit and find ways to make the outfits look more effortless.

I feel like the show also plays off of the stereotype that American fashion is loud and can be somewhat discombobulated.. to match the perceived lack of cultural curiosity or experience. This also matches *spoiler* when Madeline visits and has an even larger bombastic personality that seems super imposing, but at the same time gives off the no BS American attitude and she’s also given super bold fashion choices as well. For what I think they’re trying to do in the show, I think it really works! I was also super hot/cold on a lot of the outfit choices this season too! Loved this video!
I thought I was the only one who thought her wardrobe is so dated
I felt like I was in a time warp!
One of the reasons that Emily After Dark works is that they use a better color palette for her as well. It suits her coloring better.
Totally! and there is also not lot of room for layers so its easier to not go overboard as they do lol
Emily In Paris is so whimsical to look at, but they’re lucky Lily Collins is so stunning it tricks people into thinking those looks are much better than they actually are. Instead of Teen Vogue, I wish they’d pull from Lucky Magazine instead. They always did polished preppy style so well and mixed fun colors and accessories in a great way. I think that speaks more to Emily’s character than the badly coordinated avant garde pieces. Her best look was definitely the red H&M x Giambattista Valli dress!

Ahh loved this! I really thought we were all on the same boat about not liking her very Chiara Ferragni in 2012 style but then I realized there's life outside my little social media fashion bubble. I fell down a high-school-friends-IG-stories rabbit hole and nope, lots of people are into it.

Your picks are always soooo good! Emily doesn't seem "edgy" to me, so flowy and feminine, or preppie/traditional with a twist (often color) is their safe bet. Nothing at all glam rock, or remotely "baddie," or trying to be Avant-Garde. Maybe push the envelope more in the future?

Loved this video. While the style on Emily in Paris is super fun escapism, it totally misses the mark. All of the outfits feel like 2008 Gossip Girl to me, like Emily is Blair Waldorf's younger cousin or something. They had such a huge opportunity to make a massive fashion statement and influence actual trends but I don't see that happening. Even the way they style Camille is lackluster. I wanted to be MOVED.
I saw a little bit of the influencer typical pieces in the bucket hats, but they just didn’t execute! Def should have seen some of the prairie dresses lol because I agree 100% that Americans in Paris would have def packed them haha

I agree that Emily should wear more denim. If there is anything the French have adopted well, it´s denim. It´s basically the perfect clothing item both adored by the Americans and the French (well basically by everyone but French style icons like Jeanne Damas have a signature denim style)

Such a fun and educational video! Would you consider doing a video on how you would restyle the women from the old Sex and the City series if it was set in 2022? (and no I'm not talking about And Just Like That, because let's not waste our time pouring water on a drowning man)
All of Emily’s outfits feel so dated and just too much. Some of the individual pieces she wore were so cute and had so much potential to be fashion moments if styled differently. The blue marine cardigan outfit was particularly offensive to me bc that cardigan was so dreamy and the way they styled it was just horrible!! haha but as always you killed it with the restyling!!

About the point if she could ou couldn't afford this kind of items and for me it's a big yes. Why?
Cause she must have her US salary (which will be bigger than a French one) + a moving abroad rise + her apartment in Paris paid by her company. At least if the US system is similar at the French one. And from the Parisian office, she might even have some restaurant vouchers. Most events where she goes are paid by the agency clients...
Sooooo, yeah plenty of money to spend in fashion! 😂
And luxury fashion is less expensive in France cause items are producted here. 🤷🏼♀️

Loved your restyling Amy! Totally felt like the ever-present highlighter yellow, the high low dress, even the 2 D&G looks were all what I channeled in 2013, like to a T. Like you said, I don’t care about realism with the affordability of Emily’s wardrobe either, but it feels like a waste that we can see designers and high budget pieces but with such uninteresting/bad styling! Sylvia’s looks stole Season 2 for me, that is my aspiration. Me encanta tu canal!

Never seen the show but her style is colorful and a little crazy but not consistent or cohesive unfortunately and it also feels like it pulls from bad 2010s and a few other decade trends.

I don’t really understand fashion but feel something wrong with their fashion choice. And you explain it so well, it’s not coordinated and confusing. What kind of personality they wanna put on Emily? I know it depends on Emily’s situation and mood, but even tired Emily won’t choose that green-red Vespa outfit. Hey Virgo queen! Inspiration i usually start at vogue runway and then I move to Pinterest and look up key ideas of what i think I’d like ( example; 60s fashion, 2003 Prada, teen vogue editorial) and it usually snowballs into more outfits. Haha i have a folder on ig too that’s all these smaller designers so i love to browse those igs too
